    Love the Gym!
    Wendi K.

Going to be honest- I use this spot as more for a gym than for bouldering as it's within walking distance from my house. The cafe is amazing (I use it to work occasionally and grab a healthy drink/bite) and the gym is so spacious and stacked with equipment. They are continuously revamping the gym :) ! There are lots of bouldering walls, obviously. The staff are all super cool! I love the classes - the Movement one is surprisingly fun! Great locker rooms with saunas. I'd say the punch packs and memberships are on the expensive side but it works at all the locations (there is a new one in U District I haven't been too!). I usually get the 10-punch pass for almost $300 after tax. Obviously, it gets very crowded at peak times (after work).

My friend and I climbed here at Poplar location this past weekend and we absolutely loved every bit of it. This facility had a top notch bouldering. Wide variety of routes and walls to explore. I found this location little less beginner friendly than the Fremont one but they have interesting routes, holds and angles. I even tried crossovers on the walls for the first time here which was fun! It also has more lockers. I loved their song playlist and even when you're taking a break, the overall vibe is just so lively. It's also motivating to see others climb and learn by just observing. I'd recommend 10/10

4.5/5 Overview: Big facility, friendly people, VERY softly graded ---- I visited this gym from SoCal and found it easy to get here by bus. There's also a pretty big parking lot for those driving. The day pass was $25 ($27.56 after tax) for young adults age 14-20. The workers were very friendly and helpful in getting me started. This place is massive with two levels and multiple sections of bouldering. It even has a café/bar in the middle of the gym, offering food and drinks. There's plenty of seats to get something to eat and just hangout after a session. They have great facilities here including a big gym/fitness area, 3 adjustable moon boards, hang boards, campus board, spray wall, and yoga studio. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the people were super friendly. It did get crowded after work hours (around 5 PM), so visit earlier if you prefer quieter sessions. My only non-issue issue was that this gym is SO SOFTLY graded. The routes were graded 3-4 grades easier than expected, it felt like there was no distinction between the V0s to V3s. There were definitely fun problems though and I got a great workout in. If I'm ever back in Seattle I'll be sure to visit again!

Seattle bouldering project is my climbing gym of origin and I can truly say it is the best bouldering focused gym in Seattle. It has everything one would need to become an excellent climber. Four different areas with all types of climbing. Also boards, a full gym, and a spray wall. The cafe is also a great spot for some grub after climbing. It is excellent.

Came to visit from CA last Friday and wanted to check this place out. Not so busy around 10am! 25$ for a day pass and free shoe rentals for first timers! This place was great! There are two floors to boulder from. There are 4 sections you can visit, but one section was closed for renovations when I went. The bathrooms were very clean. They also have towels, shampoo/conditioner and body wash! They also provide chalk bags posted in every section if you need it! I have little experience climbing and the guy at the front desk gave us great information on how to get started. I stuck with the yellow and red problems since im just starting out. I had a great time bouldering here! I would've kept climbing if my forearms weren't so shot after 2 hours! We also checked out the free weights section after. This gym has everything you need! Theres even a cafe inside! They also have beer served later in the day which I thought was cool. Definitely something I'll look forward to visiting when I come visit Seattle again!

    Dirty old holds

The kids walls are a bit neglected. Holds are alternately sticky / greasy as if a pizza party happened and the kids went straight to climbing after finishing their pizzas. Staff are friendly and adult areas are better maintained.

After saying I can't five times... He did it.

Seattle bouldering project, building muscles on little boys and out-of-shape aunties since 2011, ... Sampson started off whining that he couldn't do it but if you guys know me he wasn't going to get away with that. 30 minutes later couldn't even get them down. Thanks to his cousin Maimoona who is a cyclist , hiker and climber and all-around beautiful soul.

    Nope, only bouldering I'm afraid.

From friendly instructors to clean facilities, I genuinely look forward to going to classes. There are lockers, bathrooms, showers, water fountains, and hanging racks available. Try to get to class at least 5 minutes before so you can get ready and settled into your mat. They also rent out mats and towels at the front desk. Most classes start on your back, which I love because it helps me clear my mind before class starts. My favorite instructors are Bekah, Chelsea, and Tami. Whenever I see their names on the schedule, I know I'm in for an excellent session. They're easy to hear throughout class and give clear, straightforward instruction that makes the practice accessible without unnecessary complexity or repetition. I highly recommend trying these instructors, though you really can't go wrong with any of the instructors here. There is street parking around the building and also a parking lot that you can access from 71st or 72nd street. It costs 4.99 for 90 minutes, but if you shop at PCC with a minimum purchase the charge is waived ( don't forget to get the coupon from PCC when you check out!)

I've been practicing here for just over three months, and I continually leave class with a calm state of mind feeling relaxed and refreshed. All the instructors are super friendly and encouraging, fostering a safe, judgment-free environment. Shout out to all the instructors that have taught me SO MUCH. Thank you, Liz (owner), Ashley, Jamie, Julie, Michelle, and of course Beau. I love that they each have their unique teaching style, keeping classes fun and exciting. They consistently reinforce fitting the practice to fit your own body's needs. Whether you're just starting or have been doing this for years, all yogis are welcome here. Pilates and barre are still on my to-do list, but I've heard great things about them! They also hold events such as Barre-oke (barre meets karaoke), sound baths, buti yoga, and drum circles. They even did a special puppy (foster puppies) yoga session last month! Things To Note: Although the Shiva Studio remains listed on the Active & Fit website, it no longer participates in the A&F program. In The Kutt, a hip-hop dance studio is right next door; sometimes, each studio has a class simultaneously. Unfortunately, at no fault of Shiva's own, can be distracting to hear their music during a yoga session. However, this happens infrequently and isn't enough to negatively impact their score. FYI, after my two-week trial, I needed some assistance initiating the monthly membership through the Shiva website. Liz quickly and efficiently helped me with this in person at the studio. The Mind Body app is the most efficient way of looking up the weekly schedule and signing up for classes. Liz checks in on you by email after your first few sessions to see if you have any questions or comments! She has been timely and informative with my email inquiries. Come and support a small, local business that only does great things for our community!

Joel is hands-down the most patient, knowledgable, and honest yogi I've met. He blends philosophy and meditation with physical strength. One of the things he says in class is that "yoga is a breathing practice...with postures." For someone like me who is wound up really tightly, having a mentor who reminds me to slow down and breathe has changed the quality of my whole life. Joel works hard to create a community at the Smith. It's more of a family and less of a gym. He has an optional co-op program that allows members a discount on classes, and in exchange, we contribute to helping cancer patients practice for free. Classes are affordable, focused, and manageable for all levels of expertise. I find the curriculum challenging but not frustrating. I get a good workout and I always feel better after class. I love looking around the space and seeing an array of body shapes, skin colors, and ages. No egotistical show-offs here, just lovely people excited to do yoga together. The Smith is always clean, warm, and safe. It even smells good! I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders every time I climb the stairs. Highly recommended for newbies and old pros alike. Siddhartha sits by the entrance, greeting practitioners as they arrive for class. A creaky staircase leads to an inviting space with brick walls, beautiful hardwood floors and ample windows throughout. A majestic gong sits front and center in the room and is surrounded by singing bowls. Music plays softly and, depending on the time of day, candles flicker. Merely entering the space stirs a sense of well-being. Yogasmith offers a variety of classes for students of all levels. These include an introductory series, as well as all-level, men's, restorative and cannabis-friendly classes. In addition to classes, there are workshops and special events such as a monthly Sound Bath. The instructors at Yogasmith come from different backgrounds, each bringing his/her own unique expertise. The studio is open seven days a week, which makes scheduling easy. Students can sign up for a series (or "stream" in Yogasmith lingo) or drop-in. Director Joel Benjamin is the soul-epicenter of Yogasmith. His approach to teaching is gentle, good-humored and encouraging. And as founder of the studio, he has gone to great length to create a community that is vibrant and inclusive. He is exquisitely mindful of how world events impact this community and is diligent in his efforts to offer comfort, resources and tools in response. There are always tea and snacks in the kitchen at Yogasmith. There is also a living room area with a library full of books on meditation, yoga and various spiritual traditions. Hang after class is highly encouraged. There are numerous coffee shops and restaurants around the bustling Georgetown neighborhood for anyone seeking a more substantial post-class nibble. I've been practicing at Yogasmith for a little over three years now, and the benefit has been invaluable. I always leave feeling better than when I came in. And with each practice, I learn something that I can take with me and apply to daily life. As a fairly recent empty nester, I'm especially grateful for the community I've found here. Whether you're a first-time student or a lifelong practitioner, there is something for you at Yogasmith. I encourage all to give it a try.
