Alex, one of the owners, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We enjoyed learning about some crystals I wasn't familiar with and simply chatting with him while we browsed. It's always refreshing to connect with local business owners who genuinely care about their customers and contribute such positive energy to our community. Although they'll be relocating soon, their current space is beautifully curated--cozy, airy, and inviting. (You can find their class schedule on the web and I would definitely say that is worth a look-see!) There is parking right in front of the store and it is just off S Virginia St, easy to find. The reason for the three stars has to do with inventory. This is not a large shop so one has to consider space available for merchandise. However, there was not much of a selection and the prices were fairly high. I realize that it is becoming harder to run a brick and mortar store front everyday, but I found the merchandise to be "stale" and dated. (ie: no latest tarot decks, books, etc.) I also felt like if I were to return in a month or so, it would look much as it did the day I visited, with the same merchandise in the same place. It may be that "Mystic Rose" concentrates more on the classes and readings and such, but that's not why I came. I miss the well-stocked metaphysical shops of the past and would love to see a sample tarot deck or book before I purchase it... I guess those days are gone.

I…read morewas lucky enough to visit Mystic Rose just before Christmas, simply because the Carson City friend who picked me up at the airport needed to stop at this store. I had time to peruse the selections thoroughly. I particularly enjoyed the large selection of crystals, and the availability of guides and books that explain how to use the crystals. I ended up buying a hunk of Angelite, and I'm happy that I did. Their selection of divination cards is small, but, again, a nice variety. In particular, I was pleased to see that they carry the Animal Wisdom Cards. I complimented the store owner on this, and we had a nice conversation about the uses and power of this particular deck. There are a few more items upstairs. There is a large second room that is used for classes. I only had a few short days in Nevada, which precluded taking any classes. If I were in Reno for a longer visit, I would definitely want to sample a class or a reading. Small, yes, but a solid, representative selection of various items. You'll never find everything in the world here, but you'll get a nice variety and/or introduction.

The selection is vast, and she has such a variety of items. My daughter and her friend wanted to stop, and I was pleasantly surprised. The lady working was pleasant and helpful. The prices seemed reasonable. I would recommend checking this shop out if you haven't. My favorite piece was the huge heart rocks.

Shout out to Moana Nursery staff today We went to the Moana Nursery ladybug release for kids…read moretoday and the kiddos had a scavenger hunt throughout the nursery and earned ladybug T-shirts, made a pinecone bird feeder , arranged a bouquet of flowers, saw caterpillars on milk weed , planted a Marigold in a pot to take home., learned about carnivorous plants and brought home a Venus flytrap, and received a little container of ladybugs to release in their garden. It was a hoot. Great job by Moana Nursery and their staff in educating kids about planting a gardening, the importance of ladybugs, value of carnivorous plants, creating floral arrangements, and making home bird treats. I could spend hours here! Everything seem to be in great condition, and the priced very reasonably. What I really liked about this place is that the owners are friendly, but they left us alone. So many antique stores assume that the customers are there to steal things. When they send workers after us to watch, it is very uncomfortable and hurtful. These owners didn't do that, and I really appreciate that. Thank you for treating customers with respect! I think I'll be a repeat visitor, and I know someday I will find exactly what I've been looking for!

Bamboo Boutique and Gifts is a small gift shop but a diamond in the rough. If you need a "forgive…read moreme" gift for that special someone because you "messed" up and came home with lipstick on your collar, this is the best place to find "special" gifts that will assist in the reconciliation process. Interestingly enough, there is a large selection of lucky bamboo so if you don't think the "special" gift is necessarily going to work, you can get a bunch of luck boosting items that may make the difference between sleeping in your bed versus in your car. Seriously though, at least stop by to check out the selection of cool and interesting items and chat with the sweet lady behind the counter (she treated me like an auntie would). If you're gonna hire them to put in basic drip rock and a few plants, they're probably fine although where they lay the irrigation lines makes no sense at all, and makes it very difficult to plant after the fact which I had to do because 30% of what they planted died the first winter . They installed the water feature that has some type of leak underneath it because it is killing the evergreen trees behind it because they are getting overwatered. One of the drains for the water feature is a pipe that was 3 feet from the French drain that goes to the street so it was constantly a lake filled with water. The the irrigation pipes and electrical were run after the trees were planted right down the center section of that planting area which made it impossible to dig and replace the dead trees. I had to hire someone else to come out and reroute the irrigation line and the low-voltage lighting so that Moana could come out and plant replacement trees. Nothing they did make sense or was logical. It seemed to be the down and dirty quickest and cheapest way to get it done.

I love this place, but they are sure proud of their gifts. But proud I mean, high price tags…read more They are very generally knowledgeable about their plants, which are also quite expensive.
