Everything! they had a blank slate for this installation and they were not the cheapest bed they were in the middle . If you're gonna hire them to put in basic drip rock and a few plants, they're probably fine although where they lay the irrigation lines makes no sense at all, and makes it very difficult to plant after the fact which I had to do because 30% of what they planted died the first winter . They installed the water feature that has some type of leak underneath it because it is killing the evergreen trees behind it because they are getting overwatered. One of the drains for the water feature is a pipe that was 3 feet from the French drain that goes to the street so it was constantly a lake filled with water. The the irrigation pipes and electrical were run after the trees were planted right down the center section of that planting area which made it impossible to dig and replace the dead trees. I had to hire someone else to come out and reroute the irrigation line and the low-voltage lighting so that Moana could come out and plant replacement trees. Nothing they did make sense or was logical. It seemed to be the down and dirty quickest and cheapest way to get it done. read more

I used to love this place on Mother's Day. Music snd momosas and plants. No music unless you count the food truck in the lot. Momosas were juice and warm champagne. I went in to check for some basils and other inspiration. When I arrived a gentlemen was very eager, intense, and asked me if I needed help finding anything. He was nice but kinda surprising, and because I hadnt yet discovered what I would be inspired to get and thus couldnt answer his question. True I could have asked for basils, but I knew they had one whole section of herbs and it would be hard to find. Plus I wanted to explore a bit before I got to them. As I explored I was doing well, yet kinda discouraged because of how many of their plants didnt look good and they are generally expensive to buy from; so I expected better quality all around or at least for them to have a discount rack etc. As I was looking around I finally was ready to ask for some help with some flowers and if they had a certain variety of pepper plant, as I couldnt locate it. The lady was watering some plants in one of the greenhouses, but never acknowledged my presence. Even when I started to walk closer she only looked over at me then turned around and continued to water. So I bailed on asking her anything. Maybe she is really focused, having a blah day, or isnt the person who knows the inventory. No biggy really. Finally as I went around to the herb greenhouse to grab a Sorrel (which as in good shape and $8.99. Kinda expensive but not too many places sell it and it was a great specimen.) and some basils (Sadly the sweet basils and Genovese basils looked in real bad shape. They were $5.99 and definitely should have been $2.99 at most as each pot had damaged and small plants.) I grudgingly settled on two pots. I supposed if they if they looked out for their customers, then they would be much more conscious of selling things at appropriate prices, and I would discover at the register. After leaving the herb greenhouse I did see a friendly lady and asked if they had any Tulsi basil/holy basil, as I didnt see any in their herb section. But she seemed to not recognize the names and mentioned that all the basil was in one place. Which I would have expected, buuuut perhaps I am blind? A second check would have been helpful, but I give her points for assuming I knew my stuff. When I went to check out the lady behind the counter was ok. She definitely was concerned about me waiting, but once I checked out she was kinda flat and didnt ask if I wanted a bag or a box. Nor did anyone say good bye to me. All in all I just expected way more from a place that has expensive plants like they do. I know times are changing but damn. Also I kinda would have liked a little better customer support experience. A fantastic nursery in the Reno area. I only recently learned about Old Stone House from a fellow Yelp friend and I'm so glad. This place is incredible! You'll find everything you're looking for to plant in your Reno garden, with plants that are grown for Reno's climate. I also find Old Stone House to have better options for food producing plants and trees than other nurseries in the area. Old Stone House is larger than it looks and you can easily get lost in the maze of wonderful plants and garden decor and supplies. I could easily spend hours here. They offer a one year guarantee on their trees, a 10% military discount, and have extremely helpful and friendly staff. My wife had been wanting to come here for some time and we just didn't get to it this past summer. However, after seeing their Christmas decorations on Facebook she had to go. We stopped in one afternoon and noticed several employees assisting customers with Christmas trees. The trees looked great and especially the noble firs - they were beautiful! Once inside we were transported to a winter wonderland! There were decorations for both inside and outside that were fun to look at - a little on the pricey side though. We will definitely come back throughout the year to check it out - would be interested to get a better idea of their plants and trees. read more

Driving home we wondered what was going on? So many cars in their parking lot. We parked and went in. We were very pleasantly surprised. Their annual customer appreciation weekend is happening. Nov 4 & 5. They have a great outdoor event that's so inviting. Plenty of nice seating in their outdoor garden area, They are giving away Free, can you believe it? So generous and friendly of the owner and staff. The were offering yummy street tacos, sandwiches , mimosas, and some of the best mulled cider I've ever had and full cup too. With wine or without. I ended up buying 4 packages of it it was so good. They had a great bar stand and beer and drinks for sale at a great price. We ate all we wanted. Grabbed a drink and shopped for fun and nice holiday gifts. went home with some pretty amazing gifts. They still have gorgeous fall and winter plants as well. I love going to nurseries, so visiting here was on my list for a while. Finally had a chance, and boy it was like a Costco of plants and trees! Only nicer. They have long rows of greenhouses, and walking through them was amazing. Their plants are all well-cared for, and looked healthy. Many unusual plants I didn't see elsewhere. Everything is clean and extremely well organized. It's fun to see the plants thriving in every little nooks. They also have chickens and goats! Their gift shop is huge, and was already FULL of Christmas stuff (mid-October). It was also full of that horrid Christmas scent; that artificial, strong pine and cinnamon yuck. It was so strong that I could smell it well outside! I walked through it holding my breath, but my eyes were burning. I'll just stay outside. read more

What a great little garden store! There are nice ladies working here and lots of gift type things to look at indoors here. Mom wanted to plant bulbs at the new home so she was excited to find exquisite looking tulip bulbs here. I was impressed with the neat holiday decor they had for sale here as you would never guess what's inside this little building from the outside! They let us know they have a lot more live outdoor plants in the spring-fall so we will be sure to revisit when things aren't going into hibernation in this region! read more

Went today to find some plants and support local business. This nursery is family run and there were good reviews on Facebook so a friend and I decided to check them out. They're on the south end of town by Summit Mall on Geiger grade so it was a nice drive. They appeared to be a good size nursery and also had a gift shop to explore so we were excited to go. As we walked through the aisles of plants outside we weren't approached by any employees so we wandered around looking for vegetables. The aisles are pretty crowded so not much room to move around. There weren't a lot of signs or prices so it was difficult finding what we wanted and not knowing how much they'd be. We finally found a cart and made some selections and went inside to look around the gift shop. There were many nice items not too much my style and prices were a little high I thought so I didn't purchase anything. When we were ready to check out another cashier was called. She wasn't the friendliest and wasn't wearing a face mask although most employees did as well as many customers. The prices were a bit higher then expected but we made our purchases and left hoping we can plant them soon as it should warm up!! read more

Deceptive advertising by the Old Stone House on Geiger Grade. Yesterday I purchased 1 gallon perennials at 40%. Later as I was driving by I noticed that their reader board reads that 1 gallon perennials were 50% off. I returned to the store and was told 40% was correct. I asked that they take a look at their ad. I explained that any reasonable person looking at their advertising would read the price as 50% off. They insisted that the price was 40%. I asked if I could get a credit or a refund. After the clerk consulted with someone she told me that they could refund the money If the plants had not been outside. What? Perennials that have been outside at the nursery could not be outside at my home? Of course the the plants have been outside. It was a sham offer, and I declined it. I have given these people lots of business over the years and I live nearby and am an avid gardener. Given that meaningless brush off on top of the deceptive ad, they have lost my business. read more

Wow, what an interesting nursery...Nice, helpful people, nice gift store, large variety of plants and trees but....the garden stock area is a mess. It really needs to be cleaned up in that yard, pallets of unopened inventory weathered and diminished, a pile of returned or damaged merch out in the elements, its pretty messy. Broken down shacks with crap everywhere and in the elements. If they ordered a 40 yard dumpster, took an area a day an cleaned it up, disposing of the garbage and junk the place would be nice.. Based on the review of a fellow Yelper, we headed over to Old Stone House to pick up some plants for our vegetable garden. The staff is super friendly and Shannon G was right, it is A LOT bigger than it looks. They have to have 4-6 greenhouses with vegetables maybe more. And the variety is amazing. You can find plants in any size you are looking for and they all looked amazing. We had made a pact before going that we were sticking to the basics. That was totally out the window when we entered the greenhouses. The varieties of cherry tomatoes was immense; yellow, black, red, orange, translucent!!! And each plant is clearly marked with the number of days to maturity and what makes it special. They must have had 10 varieties of cucumber and more of squash. It is all grown locally. The staff is very helpful and will help you find anything. If you pick up a tomato that needs a stake, they have stakes and wire there for you to use. They also have the plastic by the exit so you can grab some to save your car from the dirt on the a way home. I will definitely be back whenever I have plant needs because if you can't find it there you probably don't need it! read more

So impressed with this nursery! Just past the round a bout on Geiger Grade, this nursery is MUCH larger than it looks. Rows of greenhouses filled with veggies, herbs, and flowers and outdoor trees line the property. All the plants look healthy and happy! Prices are fair and comparable to the other local nurseries. On a recent visit I picked up some soil, compost, and manure-- they carry Full Circle line! As well as some herbs and strawberry plants on a recent visit. Staff were friendly and two people asked if I needed any assistance while I was there. My new goto garden center! read more

So glad I found this place! It's close to me and they have great local grown plants to take home which is better than your chain stores that bring them from other states sometimes and may not be used to our Northern Mevada climate. The staff was very knowledgeable, even the other patrons were nice and it seemed like a community almost. Their plants were so vibrant and they have great soil and compost brands. I don't know why I haven't been here sooner, but wow what a cute nursery. I really like that they carry a soil brand that I love to use all year around. Their selection of foliage was a plentiful! From the storefront the size of the nursery is deceiving but it's huge! When I went in they were transitioning the home and gift shop for Christmas holiday, it was so lovely in there, magical. We visit their Christmas Tree lot, in front of Whole Foods, every year. They always have an amazing selection and the staff is very helpful. This year they have a nice selection of trees, wreaths and pine garland. The prices did increase from last year but unfortunately this is from the fires in Oregon this summer. Mike was great and loaded our tree up onto our car for us. We had no problem from the lot to the house, even on the freeway. not even worth one star....8 months ago I enjoyed my first shopping experience to this place. Spent almost 2k on trees, plants and delivery/planting fees. After planting one tree I noticed it was severely damaged and mentioned it to the workers doing the planting. They took pics and said they'd talk to the manager(Leticia). MANY phone calls later to Leticia for a replacement tree and only received EXCUSES as to why they didn't have one....it's been eight months. I would also ask to speak with STEVE the OWNER about the issue...NEVER available since he's always in and out and they never know when he'll be in. Now the said tree is dead...I finally got to speak with STEVE....that call didn't go well...he wanted proof the tree had issues...but hey, he now has time to make a special trip of 45 min to see the dead tree for himself....some day that is. read more
