    Spiked Mango Lassi

Urban Tandoor is the best of both worlds - traditional Indian fare and dishes with a modern twist. I tried their Tableside Butter Chicken Experience where they cook the meal in front of you from start to finish while explaining it step-by-step along the way. It was informative, interactive and the butter chicken itself was rich with juicy bone-in pieces of meat. I tried a bunch of different items including the Spiked Mango Lassi (loved the boozy twist on a classic), Tandoori Chicken Tacos, and Crispy Corn Chaat (must order). There wasn't a bad dish in the bunch. Great service, fun experience and tasty food - worth a trip.

I truly cannot say enough good things about this spot. I had heard it was a top place in North Jersey and as a foodie I had to go immediately. The complimentary papadums were delish and addictive. The crispy corn chaat is MUST ORDER DISH!!! I cannot stress that enough. The chicken 65 anything will knock ur socks off it's their specialty for a reason. I wanna go back and do the tableside butter chicken experience. The food was all amazing and the staff was super sweet and knowledgeable and attentive. I will be coming back here !!! All the cocktails 10/10!!! I can't even

Had places a to go order from here and as usual, it did not disappoint! The pick up area was in the entrance, but organized nicely on the side. My order was ready for me on the shelves and the lady was able to still add on the drinks that I forgot to order originally. The shahi paneer was delicious and very flavorful. The garlic naan had a nice amount of garlic. The shezwan rice was really tasty but pretty spicy, even though I selected the least spicy option available. It was really good though. The mango lassi was really nice and helped keep the heat down from the fried rice. The portions are generous size with enough to have leftovers. Would definitely recommend this spot for delicious Indian cuisine.

Stopped by Urban Tandoor for an impromptu weekend dinner -- it was pretty empty there around 6pm, but while eating there were a few tables coming in and out (and lots of takeout orders, too). The restaurant is pretty spacious with lots of tables, but not very well-lit. For the two of us, we ordered the chicken tikka masala and the aloo gobi to share. The chicken tikka masala was fantastic. The chicken was very tender and so flavourful, and the rich sauce had just the right amount of spicyness (that I could handle haha). The aloo gobi was also very delicious. The potatoes were nicely cooked to a soft fluffiness, and the flavour was so well-balanced (again without being too spicy or savoury to drown out the other spices). The service was very kind and prompt -- our servers were eager to answer questions we had about the menu, speedy with bringing/refilling water, and just very friendly in all our interactions with them. Price point was great, too -- we even had a bit of leftovers to take home to accompany our next meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the area!

Urban Tandoor really surprised me. The Urban Goat Curry (medium) was easily the highlight -- rich, intense flavor and actually spicy. Not "American spicy," but real heat. The goat was soft and cooked through perfectly. If you like spicy food, this one is worth the trip. We also ordered the Chettinad Chicken (mild). This one had no spice at all, just the aroma of the herbs and a creamy, slightly heavy sauce. Not bad, but much milder and more monotone compared to the goat curry. Service was attentive, food came out fast, and naan was fresh. Would come back for the goat curry alone.

I found out about Urban Tandoor from a friend who lives in Harrison. Finally got a chance to try with my friend's family for a big dinner. I called in a day before to reserve our table, was an easy process. Upon arrival we found street parking right in front of the restaurant and got to sit down at our table immediately. The restaurant was modern with a huge bar. The menu had lots of popular and exciting Indian dishes + appetizers. There were some Indo Chinese dishes as well. The menu had a lot of alcoholic beverages and cocktail as well. I of course ordered the mango lassi that was excellent, sweet and dense. Food wise everything I tried was delicious. The paya soup, samosa chaat, bhindi masala, shrimp korma, chicken tandoori, tikka masala, goat biryani, butter naan, paratha all were prepared so well with incredible flavor and spice. For dessert we ordered the gulab jamun, rasmalai and gajar halwa, again all them were so tasty. The service throughout the dinner was good. Empty plates were taken out quickly. The dishes took some time to come out, about 20 minutes between appetizers and main course, but probably because they wanted us to take our sweet time at the dinner.

Upscale Indian restaurant at Harrison NJ. Street parking so it's tricky at rush hours. We made a reservation for 10 people. Upon arrival, they brought us to the table right away. Grand decorations giving relaxing bar vibes. The food is good. Most dishes you can choose the spicy level. We had lamb, shrimp, chickens, naan and desserts. I would recommend to go in a big group so you can try different things.

GREAT indian spot. The owner is kind and perfessional and wanted to make sure we were enjoying ourselves when we first came in. Staff was friendly and very helpful with recommendations. Every dish is a hit, apps are good too. Drinks are great AND they have tasty mocktails. I have no complaints. this is my go to indian spot in harrison and they have great deals, and good happy hour deals as well. Beware, my partner and i eat very spicy and the medium is right for us. spicy spicy would kill me. Only thing is that it's too dark in this place in i can't see the menu

We were back in town via Newark airport and couldn't wait to come back to the restaurant. It's been a year and half since we were here last. It has great service and atmosphere. Our server, Saurabh M, was so accommodating and friendly. He really wanted us to enjoy our dining experience, which we did. We ordered two items from the happy hour menu; Peanut Papdi Chaat and Crispy Corn Chaat. They were so so good. Even though it was Happy Hour portions, we still had plentiful leftovers. We mixed them together and got them to go. It's like a special snack mix. We had spicy edamame, Karachi Chicken and Shahi Chicken Korma. Tried the Paneer and Garlic Naans. Everything was great! We settled on a bottle Josh cab, which is an inexpensive wine choice where you can never go wrong.

Right on the main drag of Harrison, Urban Tandoor is worth the trip if you're in Newark and looking for good Indian food. The interior is intimate, and more modern than I expected. The food is very good and was reasonably priced as compared to what you would spend for similar dishes in Jersey City. I got the goat curry - which I believe to be a more complex dish than your usual chicken tikka masala and I was quite happy with it. The restaurant also has a nice selections of cocktails if you are looking for that as well.

I was visiting friends in Harrison and we decided to go to Urban Tandoor for dinner. We didn't have to make reservations but there was ample seating around 8 pm on a Friday. The restaurant was dim lit, but didn't bother me too much. We ordered family style and ordered paneer tikka masala, malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, and chicken vindaloo. We ordered everything medium (4/5) spicy and the quality was great! The spice level was on point and all dishes were hearty and flavorful.

Totally updating my previous review because totally changed my mind for this place. The last time I was here, I came right after a long flight, probably at the wrong time and probably too jet lagged to even think. This time, we came at the perfect day and time and really enjoyed our full experience here. This place has incredible service, even the owner was walking around to make sure everyone was ok. The ambiance was absolutely spot on. Filled with locals and also a perfect little date night spot with dimmed lights and a cool bar area. The food was incredible and this for sure is a really nice spot in the area to go to. My go-to's area always the Dal Makhani and Malai Kofta because it's hard to pick just one. Everything was fresh and delicious and we left so happy and content :)

The food was very good. I had the pita & hummus side and the Caesar salad. I like how they grind up the croutons into flakes; that's the only way I truly enjoy croutons. My friend had a fish burger and enjoyed it. I like the vibe of the place; lots of unique and sometimes odd photos framed on the walls. Plenty of soccer pics, of course, since they're next to a soccer stadium. We had a difficult start to our visit. I don't know if there was some confusion about our table or what, but as the extended, continuous wait for service dragged on, we considered leaving. Then the hostess, Rachel, noticed we still hadn't been served and came over and got our order. She then stopped by every five or ten minutes to see if we needed anything else, and took our food order too. I truly appreciate Rachel's assistance; she's a perfect employee and really turned around a potentially lame dining experience. Twenty minutes in, I'd have said I'm never coming back here, but the way she turned it around, I would visit Keeper's again.

[Over a decade since my original review... she's overdue for a refurbishing, for sure.]…read more East Newark basically consists of three things... Tops Diner, the (historic) Clark Thread factory (closed for decades and currently being made into a housing complex which is going to be insane for this area) and... Pic-Nic. (East Newark should be absorbed into Harrison, but I'll keep my nose out of zoning and redistricting and stick to the job at hand...) The sangria? Delicious. (But worth $30 a pitcher?) And only finding out when the bill arrived and we'd ordered two... ouch! The garlic shrimp appetizer? Yeah, still the best in the biz. (The sauce alone is worthy of a darn Michelin star.) We were a party of seven. We had a bit of everything when it came to the entrees. My chicken dish - brilliant. (The star might've been those roasted potatoes swimming in a delicious brown-garlic sauce.) The other adults all seemed to really love their dishes, too. But we need to discuss my kids' food. They're varsity athletes that run 8-10 miles a day. They were hungry and bragged about how much food they were about to put away. The older twin tried paella (for the very first time) and about halfway through? He had to quit. (But he really dug all the various seafood and proteins mixed in the saffron-infused yellow rice served in a tiny Portuguese cauldron of sorts.) The younger twin? Obsessed with steak. He ordered the "Beef à Pic-Nic" and... okay, anyone know the YouTuber 'Beard Meets Food' that travels the world to attempt ridiculous food challenges? That's what arrived at our table. Easily the most amount of food I ever saw that was technically for just one person. He went to work and eventually said, "Dad. Please do not make me breakfast or lunch tomorrow." (something I never heard before - all because he was THAT full right now) I looked over at his dish and... it didn't even look like he put a dent in it. When we asked for doggy-bags the two workers seemed to chuckle that we 'failed' the mission at hand. All things considered: the bill wasn't too bad for the amount of (tasty) food. (Overlooking the alcohol portion, of course!) Cool workers all around. Restaurant looks good. They have a (mighty small) lot and there's some street parking (if you're lucky). Recommended, for sure.
