They have a wine bar next door and I had a great glass of all natural Portuguese rose at happy hour pricing of 9.99. I was too stuffed from lunch to try food or drink more wine. Urban Wine has been my go-to shop for years, and honestly there aren't enough stars available on Yelp for me to express how much I love this shop. The staff is helpful, and the selection is exceptional. I cannot convey how rare it is to find a shop in the City that regularly brings in funky/cool/different/small production wines quite like they do. I bought a wine fridge to support all of the great options that they manage to include in their small space, and am regularly re-stocking it because they always have something else great coming in. I don't drink at all, but I went here today to find some high-proof vodka to make hand sanitizer. Instead I walked away with a fifth of grain alcohol. This store is taking social distancing seriously; they only allow one customer come up to the door, where there's a barrier for them to be served. They're also donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this alcohol toward COVID19 relief efforts. Now I can make hand sanitizer! read more

I really enjoyed this spot. The selection is great. Inexpensive to pricier options and same great service whether you're searching for a $15 bottle wine or $50. That means something! The staff remembers you if you're a regular and on multiple occasions my daughter and i would hang around to chat with staff and locals. So sad that I won't be a regular anymore. I live around the corner from here and this place really hit a homerun in so many ways. There was a void that this place filled and boy did it do a great job. It is unassuming from the street, doesnt look like they could have such a selection but they do and then some. A fantastic selection of wine will blow you mind. This fantastic selection would sell itself but thankfully there is a great staff that keep the place going strong. They have a "points system" that rewards you for purchasing there as well as shames you for purchasing SO MUCH there. Head and shoulders above any of the other wine/spirits shops in the neighborhood. This place is great!! They have a wonderful selection of wines and unique liquors. They are always super helpful in picking out a wine for you and they have a nice little rewards program. Their app is excellent and delivery is fast and painless. I've used it a ton of times and they're always having awesome incentives and deals on holidays (they had one for Elvis's birthday lol) Often they'll have a tasting for new brands that come in which is really fun to try. This is my favorite neighborhood wine shop. Modern industrial vibes with wines and whiskey ranging $8 and up They also have most wines chilled if you just ask. All the employees are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They typically have a wine or whiskey samples available to try (always fun!) They have a center table with wines under $15 which is nice. My only suggestion to management is to work on pricing labels for the wines. read more

This place is amazing; I felt I really needed to write a review. I'm sooooo impressed by the guys working there!!! BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!! Today, I ordered a cheap bottle of vodka and a cheap box of wine for a little event I'm having. Instead, they called saying they didn't have the wine in stock. Rather than spoiling the event, they instead upgraded my vodka, gave me a selection of 1,5L wines and a T-shirt. I am blown away!!! From now on, I'll never go anywhere else.... even if it's inconvenient!! Also, I must say, I have never waited more than 15 minutes to have my booze delivered using their app. I swear, it's like they teleport. It has such a chill atmosphere and the guys are super knowledgeable and authentically kind. They legitimately just want to expose customers to new things and truly love learning about and discussing wine. Their passion and love for what they do, elevates alcohol consumption to an fun educational experience. Really excellent quality at a range of prices. I was asked a few questions on what flavors my girlfriend prefers, and then was handed a recomendation which I bought and my girlfriend later said she loved. They also packaged it nicely for me with pretty paper and a bow. We came back later to grab some liquor before heading to a party. My friends and I have conceived a motto that is easily applied to the mindset at most East Village wine and spirit shops: "that'll do it." The phrase arose after a string of sub-par wine suggestions from the wino's that staff most other local establishments. If you prefer expensive, sulfate-laden bottled headaches, this review is not for you. One afternoon I was perusing my local wine store for a bottle to pair with dinner--not, as the staff assumed, to numb the thought of a painfully torpid existence. I was having beef, so I was in front of some of the mid-priced reds. Suddenly, the shopkeeper ducked out from behind a dingy curtain and proclaimed "that'll do it!" Grinning and motioning to the bottle I happened to be standing in front of. I naively took his advice and was rewarded with a ruined meal and splitting headache. The experience at Urban could not be more different. The shop is clean and neat, the selection is vast and diverse (they don't carry the standard brands) and the staff offer helpful suggestions (and have never resorted to consuming hand sanitizer or Listerine). Prices are reasonable and they offer free delivery in the neighborhood. Now that WILL do it! read more

After attending a wine tasting hosted by a master sommelier, I was eager to try a white wine from Alsace. The staff was super helpful and recommended the Frey-Sohler white wine from Alsace. He told me it was going to be a bit on the sweet side but crisp and refreshing! After I tried it, the taste was just as he described and exactly what I was looking for! Great suggestion!
