What we were told would be a 4 to 5 day hospitalization ended within a single overnight stay, without clear answers. The timeline matters. At the very beginning of the stay, we were told diagnostic imaging would be performed as part of the initial plan of care. That imaging never happened. We admitted our dog to this emergency facility after signing documentation stating there would be a doctor physically present and on duty overnight, with only a brief morning gap. That assurance was a deciding factor in trusting this facility and leaving our dog in their ICU. Within hours of admission, we were told the condition was serious but manageable and that the plan was several days of hospitalization with diagnostic imaging, continued testing, and close monitoring. Despite this, even after a full day had passed, Dr. Brock Lofgreen continued to promise diagnostic imaging, offering vague explanations for the delays, including references to telehealth diagnostic availability. Our dog was labeled ICU, yet critical diagnostics never occurred. Overnight, without us present, our dog's condition deteriorated. The following day, we received a call from Dr. Brock Lofgreen stating our dog was "declining rapidly" and that we needed to get to the hospital immediately. During that call, he made it clear he was not on the premises, despite being responsible for ICU patients. We left immediately. The drive took approximately five minutes. We arrived before Dr. Lofgreen did. At the front desk, we were delayed by dismissive staff who appeared to be covering for the fact that no doctor was physically present despite one being "on duty." We waited approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Only then did Dr. Lofgreen arrive, dressed in cargo shorts and a polo shirt. Every other staff member we encountered during our dog's stay had been in proper medical attire. Shortly after our arrival, our dog continued to decline and died. This outcome was not expected. No clear explanation was provided for how a case projected to require several days of hospitalization ended within hours. One technician's note in the medical record stood out. It was not a routine entry. It painted a disturbing picture of what was actually happening behind the scenes: minimal attention, lack of active intervention, and care that directly contradicted the ICU designation we were given. That note prompted us to carefully review the records and ask detailed questions. Instead of transparency, we were met with deflection and inconsistencies. When we attempted to speak with this technician, we were told she was unavailable due to "moving out of state." We later learned she had been terminated. No one could explain why imaging never occurred, why the decline was so rapid, or who was actively overseeing ICU care. When concerns were raised, the hospital director stated they were unaware that Dr. Lofgreen had left the hospital while responsible for ICU patients and failed to disclose that he has an ownership stake in the facility. Even when directly challenged, Dr. Lofgreen denied leaving, despite us personally witnessing him arrive after we did and be debriefed by staff. Based on what we witnessed and later confirmed through the records, we do not believe this facility is safe for critical patients. This was not an isolated failure. It reflects systemic issues and a lack of accountability. We cannot recommend this hospital under any circumstances. Do not assume "ICU" means continuous care. Do not assume a doctor is physically present simply because you are told one is "on duty." This place should be shut down. Drive the extra hours to a reputable emergency hospital in Overland Park. It is worth your pets life. This review is shared so YOU understand how this place actually operates, not how it markets itself.

Super unprofessional employees and management…read more My friend drove an hour with her two small children to visit a kitten they had seen online. She and her kids immediately fell in love with the kitten, but were told they couldn't adopt. When I emailed some concerns to management, it took them three weeks to reply with an email that I was never intended to see. Their response to my complaint was that it was "farfefched" ... as if my friend would drive an hour one direction to adopt a kitten only to opt out of the adoption after seeing how much her kids and the kitten loved each other. This was my email complaint (shorteded) A male employee in his late twenties/ early thirties with light brown hair, glasses and white plugs in his earlobes "helped" my friend's family out with their desired adoption. My friend went in to adopt Mitzi around closing time today (6/25) with her two sons who are five and seven. They saw Mitzi online and went to visit her, but also saw two other kittens just in case - they knew immediately Mitzi was the kitten for their family. Mitzi obviously felt the same as she was running across the youngest child's lap and was very playful during their time with her. Unfortunately, my friend was unable to adopt Mitzi due to two employees. They made passive aggressive remarks about the kids not being able to handle kittens and were very rude to her and her children. While the boys were trying to get the kittens to play with the toys, one of the employees said "they are street cats, they don't like toys, they don't like you, and they don't like kids". When Mitzi ran across the youngest child's lap he got excited and squirmed a little - one of the employees criticized the child for moving and my friend for bringing the child. They said that she needs an adult cat instead of a kitten. They even said at one point to her "maybe if we left the room they would actually want to play with you guys more" then wouldn't leave the room to allow the family to play with the kittens. When my friend expressed interest in adopting Mitzi, one employee said to her "she is my favorite and I won't let her go home with just anyone". They also told her that she needs to adopt an adult cat as her kids shouldn't be allowed around kittens. This is highly disappointing as these children have grown up around dogs and have been around cats their entire lives.
