I would STRONGLY caution anyone considering this company!!…read more This has been one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. The company advertises "professional, reliable, trained experts," but the service has been anything but that from day one. From the very first visit, the quality of work was disappointing. The man who arrived performed work that honestly could have been done by a teenager for a fraction of the cost, yet we were charged nearly $300. When I asked basic lawn care questions, his trained expert opinion was he wasn't sure. Completely unsure and unable to provide answers! They also promise advance notice before arriving, but they have failed to do so repeatedly. Crews have shown up as late as 8PM on a Saturday without any communication. Most concerning, while we were out of town, they SOMEHOW entered our LOCKED backyard without permission. We never authorized access, and entering a locked yard without consent is completely unacceptable and felt like a violation of our privacy. On top of that, the work itself is careless. Weeds along the sides are ignored, grass clippings are left piled around the house. For the amount they charge, the service is nowhere near worth it. This company requires full payment for the entire season upfront, but when we tried to cancel due to poor service and requested a refund since they would not be completing a full season worth of services, we were told "sorry wish we could help you, but the money has already gone to operations". Despite multiple requests, I have yet to receive documentation supporting the alleged "verbal no refund would be issued agreement". To make matters worse, during one of my calls, I overheard another customer expressing similar frustrations with the company's service!! Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. Would not recommend this company to anyone!!!

When faced with the short notice preseason to find another snow removal company when our long term…read moreprovider withdrew from that portion of their business, I spent much time pursuing a replacement. Apparently many in Boulder have also given it up for small residential properties, having decided to provide only to commercial properties which is more efficient for staffing and equipment. Call after call went either unanswered or unreeled to messages to all the references I had gotten from personal contacts Even one case of someone who promised to come but was a no show. Until I found General Service on a list of licensed providers that was linked to us by the all purpose yard maintenance firm we had been using. General Services is a Boulder local family owned and managed company, now managed by the second generation. Eric, the manager was the first to respond to my request and very professionally, with a plan. They do many other services too so if I need to add other options as needed, I can. There are many ways to customize the snow removal plan. If a customer needs complete coverage for any drop it can be done but we were able to customize to the trigger depth, in our case, 3" to avoid charges for snowfalls we can handle our selves. They are easy to communicate with, in working this out. We live in a neighborhood with steep sidewalks, heavily used by pedestrians and enforced by the city of Boulder, so it is important to be careful. We also like that they seem to have very careful, thoughtful and efficient workers, using human powered shovels in out small spaces rather than trying to drive through with ATVs or snowblowers over yards and sprinkler heads as some of our neighbors' providers do. And they are quiet, which is nice since they often come early in the morning after overnight snowfalls, which keeps the sidewalks clear longer, with less ice to be faced by pedestrians. So far this first season there has not been a single glitch and I foresee using them as long as they have this service. Looking at their website, you can see the variety of other services they can provide. We may need to expand into some of these categories in the future and I would feel confident doing that. Cost is dependent on how many times it snows each season and overall depth to be removed each time. It seems to be equitable. Yes, the cost was higher this year than any of the last several, given that our snowfall has been happily returned to more normal levels to fill some of Colorado's reservoirs to alleviate the drought conditions. Yet we must find a way to move it off of pedestrian walkways and in Boulder, the home owner/resident component is responsible. It would be nice if the city could do as well with our streets but of course our taxes would pay for that, though I expect most people would like to see that happen someday.

I have learned that a good chimney sweep is not easy to find. General Services Corporation's Jon has been my sweep for many years and will remain my sweep until he eventually retires. He is most carefully thorough in the cleaning of my stove. He spends hours painstakingly removing all he creosote buildup in the flue and, just as important, patiently cleaning every component of the stove. Jon is most knowledgeable about chimneys and wood stoves and freely shares his invaluable knowledge with me. The cost for his work is more than reasonable. Plus, GSC's office administrative staff is most congenial. I will check out the company's other services soon. No doubt they are as good as their chimney cleaning services!
