I never thought much about buying my appliances at Urner's because I always thought they were the most expensive place in town. But now that I've lined them up with The Orange Place, The Blue Place (pick one), and the one at The Valley Plaza, I'm convinced that Urner's is the best deal in town. Besides a big inventory, the ability to get you most anything you want and a willingness to price-match anyone in town, their service is just the best. We've always trusted the store at The Valley Plaza before, but their service has slipped a lot in the past few years. So, if Urner's will match their prices and give me better service, it's a done deal. And ask for Alan, he just made us a ridiculous deal on the stainless steel side-by-side fridge of our dreams. Update: Seems I jumped the gun with the above review, they just lost 3 stars. We got a call from Alan to schedule delivery and we told him that we needed to take him up on his offer to delay delivery for about a month until our kitchen was completed. He said that he was getting pressured to clear their warehouse for a big holiday sales push, so we agreed to take delivery early and just stash the appliances in our dining room. Since the dining room was where our current refrigerator was we had to find a buyer for it to make room, and so we did. Delivery took place on schedule and so did the selling of the old fridge. However, it seems the new fridge was not the one we agreed on - they ordered the wrong one. So we called our salesman, Alan, and informed him of this. He was apologetic but immediately began to tell us that the fridge we wanted is no longer available. Meanwhile, while I'm on the phone, my wife is checking online and finds the fridge that Alan tells us doesn't exist - and from Best Buy no less. Not only that, but when Alan does find the fridge online at Best Buy to price match it, he quotes us a price that's about $300 more than the price we're looking at. So we email Alan the site we're looking at. He then agrees on the lower price that we found. My question is, then, what site was he looking at to find the price that he did? We'll never know. At any rate, the price difference between the refrigerator that was accidentally ordered and the one that we actually priced with Alan when we were in the store with him is about $130. Mind you, all of our food is now in small ice chests in our dining room and only hours from spoilage. The correct refrigerator that Alan has just ordered will be in on Thursday (five days from now), barring any unforeseen issues. But what about our food? Will Urner's replace it? No they will not. We finally talked them into a loaner fridge (we were asked not to plug in the fridge they delivered to us or they'll have to discount it) which will be delivered tomorrow. So, okay. But wouldn't you think that after buying an appliance suite that's the price of a good small used car and having to suffer the inconveniences that we have, that it would be worth it to them to eat the $130 to maintain customer loyalty and goodwill? Our parents thought so when they bought all of their appliances there. And so did our grandparents. Remember, they are price matching Best Buy - we could have just bought from them, it would have been much more convenient and we wouldn't have had to do all the work to get a better deal. read more

We recently purchased a new side by side refrigerator from Urner's. Our refrigerator went out on us so I went to several places but all said that they would have to order one and it would be a week or two. I needed one now. I went to Urner's and met with Ray. A really nice guy but that's where it ends. Because I needed the refrigerator now and couldn't wait for them to deliver it a WEEK later I was able to take it home with me. My son and I brought it into the house and set it up. We noticed that the leveling was off and the doors were uneven. We read the manual and saw that the doors are uneven on purpose and you need to adjust them. We tried several times but it wasn't working. I called Ray and he said it would cost me $89 for someone to come out. He said that since they didn't deliver it it would cost me. He put me through to Eldon, their Service Manager to see if he could talk me through it. I left a message on his voicemail to call me back, no call back so I called again and again had to leave a voicemail for Eldon to call me back. Two days no call back. Two weeks no call back. I was able to adjust everything myself and to this day I still have not received a call from Eldon or even Ray to see if the refrigerator is okay or if I need someone to come out. VERY VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. The refrigerator is nice but I will never buy from Urner's again. read more

Avoid Urner's Appliance Repair Bakersfield CA If you need appliance service, don't use Urner's. They have a new web and phone system that is not working properly. I put in a web request for service but got not response. Called three days later, left a message for service manager. When he called back, said they have no record of my request. That they had installed a new communication system a month ago and it still has some problems. If you want to avoid frustration, call Dave's Appliance repair 661) 836-3802. He will actually answer the phone. Try calling Urner's, and you will have to leave messages. A computer answers their phone. read more

My husband and I went there last weekend to by a bed and two new chairs spent almost a hour finding what we want only to have our first salesman turn us over to another guy that left saying he would be right back and he never did. Don't go there!! Once they make the sale they just tell u what u wanna hear and lie to get u off the phone. Dan was our sales person and once he got the money he just lied about when they would come in and then we paid for installs and they schedule a delivery and I have to call and ask when are they installing. Oh wow they have a entire different process for the install. Not what was promised when they sell the items. I called to talk to manager to get it all straightened out and they don't let me. They send me right back to the sales person. I am not a difficult customer so I know this must happen a lot. I usually let things slide. I am very disappointed and would've given zero stars if I could. I Purchased many very expensive appliances including a refrigerator for $3400. It broke down after eight months and has needed Appliance Repair six more times. My refrigerator is only three years old andMarch 2 started the last round Of repairs. I have not had a refrigerator since May 25. My warranty companyContinue to give me the runaround in regards to a replacement. I reached out to Urners and they said they cannot help me. Finally A replacement was awarded and I requested a check so I would not have to buy another appliance from Urners. they received my replacement check and was not willing to sign it over to me until next Monday. I have talk to people who answered the phone and left messages for managers who never returned my calls. I shopped Urners for years because I wanted to honor local businesses; however, if this is the way they treat their customers now I will never return again. The sales people are pushy when you go into the store in person. And when you try to call them to ask a follow up question before making a major appliance purchase, you will wait a very long time on hold because the sales people on the floor won't bother to answer the phone if you are not there in person for them to push around. Also, unlike BestBuy, Home Depot, and Lowes, they will not do a true price match and match the free delivery to earn your business. They told me it's $85 if I want my chest freezer delivered in town and that they won't match delivery for free because it eats into their profit margin. If you're not going to truly price match, then don't advertise it! Save your money and hassle and just shop online and have it delivered for free by more accessible establishments. read more

Went in the other day last week looking to buy a mattress for myself and my fiancé. They have so much furniture to choose from! The best part, is the customer service! I wasn't followed or harassed like most furniture places. I believe the guys name was Jaylan, and he was more than helpful. Got us the perfect mattress. Initially, the purchasing experience of my new GE washer and dryer, with the sales department at Urner's on Wible Rd., in Bakersfield Ca., seemed to meet normal standards. After I purchased these two new appliances, that was no longer the case. Upon delivery, their provided delivery service was a disappointment, to say the least. Their delivery servicemen lacked experience, showed poor workmanship, & lacked basic knowledge of their products. One example of this is that right after they installed both the new GE washer & dryer, I realized the laundry machines were not evenly leveled. Also, they left a mess on my floor, & washer and dryer, which I wiped down & cleaned up. I did not ask them to clean the mess that they made, because they were in a hurry and had a terrible attitude towards me, the paying customer. A few weeks after installation, while in use, the washer was rocking back & forth, & making an extremely loud & unbearable noise. When I put a service request in with Urner's, they sent a technician out that put a scale on the washer & said that actually nothing is really wrong, but claimed to have balanced & leveled the washer. Yet, later I realized this wasn't fixed at all. Then there was a recurring leaking problem, from the detergent tray, which wasn't ever fixed properly, after several attempts, over a period of many months, causing great damage, staining, & rusting to the washer. One of their recommended solutions by them was to dilute the He detergent with water, which only made more of a mess. Urner's managers did return my calls in a timely manner, but many times talked over me, & thus not allowing me to explain or complain. In addition to this, they gave me the "run around," of who is actually responsible for repairs. Their unprofessional approach was also frustrating for me, because rather than repairing, they looked for the cheapest way to, supposedly fix the washer. This was not at all, as cost effective for me, as originally promised by Urner's & and their promotions. As a matter of fact, & contrary to my belief, in addition to my purchase of a new washer & dryer with insurance, I also purchased an extended 5 year warranty to insure that my family & I would not have to go through this hassle. If I wanted this drama, I would have purchased a used washer. I'm now, a not so proud owner of a washer that is not efficiently working. After reading the other reviews, I realize that both their terrible customer service, and their new GE washer, are of poor quality. Apparently, many customers agree that much improvement is necessary. They definitely need to address the problem promptly next time, and place customer service as a top priority. It isn't just the issue of money spent, but rather it's the principle of the matter. My time spent dealing with this is irreplaceable & invaluable. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be of any importance to Urner's staff. At this point, to be compensated for wasted money for this "new washer" & time spent dealing with this issue would be ideal. My lost efforts of trying to peacefully resolve this matter shouldn't go unrecognized, as well. An apology for being "humored," & for not being taken seriously, would also be appropriate & appreciated. In sum, I would not ever recommend Urner's to anybody. read more

I purchased a kitchenaid oven on 12/20/17.My wife used the self cleaning feature for the first time on 12/7/18 and the inner door glass exploded.Urners and Kitchenaid were a joke on getting this resolved.We had to contact Kitchenaid ourselves and finally repair service came out on 1/4/19 leaving us without an oven for the holidays.We are still waiting for repairs.We have always used Urner's for our appliances.Never again. read more

Service department is so backed up it can't fix your appliance for a month. We bought from this local store because my family believes in supporting local business. After our dishwasher broke down after 13months it took two weeks for someone to come out and look at it to tell me it's going to take another two weeks to schedule someone to come out and install the new part. I called service manager to complain about THE WAIT time and he basically just made excuses but did not hesitate to take my money for the first initial service call. I'm so disappointed it will now cost me more than half the price of a new dishwasher to have it fixed and I've only owned it for 13 MONTHS read more

My wife and I bought a reclining couch and love seat from Urner's. we did not notice when they tacked on an extended warranty. Now, that would be bad enough, but four years later and the couch and love seat have collapsed as the Chinese designed and built recliner mechanism chews into the foam padding from the inside out, causing it to cave in. BTW, I weigh less than 200 pounds. Urner's response ha s been that they are not responsible for defects in design and manufacture, which, of course they are. Urner's response re the unwanted (and useless extended coverage through Guardsman) was that we should have noticed on the receipt when the salesman snuck in a fast one. Somehow, it was all our fault. We just purchased a new Samsung washer and dryer which will be delivered this week and got them at an excellent price. As customers of this extraordinary family-run business for over 35 years it would be difficult to consider making such a purchase elsewhere. Additionally, as a lawyer who specializes in Consumer Law, I have had many complaints about virtually all of the "Big Box" stores in Bakersfield over the years, but not a single one for Urner's. When you are being looked after by a sales and installation staff who have all been here for decades, each possessing a vast product knowledge, and clearly put the customer's needs before their commission, the reason Urner's has continued to prosper becomes evident. Unlike the feeling of a mouse pursued by hungry cats upon walking into most other appliance and home furnishing establishments, here the customer is under no pressure at all. Even if you have no immediate need of a home appliance, bed, television, or furniture, Urner's is a place that generates ideas. It invites spending time, just observing the broad array of so many items that make a house a home. Management a long time ago realized the need to compete on price and still deliver quality, unlike so many other long-departed mom and pop Bakersfield stores with the attitude, "The list price is the price." Here you benefit from a store that will meet or exceed others prices. Old-fashioned customer service still exists - and Urner's is the place to find it. read more

I bought a stove hood from Urner's about a year ago and recently the light bulbs burned out. The halogen GU10 builds are a killer to change out and I could not do it! So frustrating! I called Urner's for help and they sent out Dave, their service manager. He showed me how to do it and all was fixed up nicely and I have light again over my stove once again. Always shop for appliances here. Good quality products and most important sales people low key and professional. In this particular instance I had done my homework and knew exactly what brand of washer and dryer I wanted (Speed Queen) but was concerned about price. Coming in on Black Friday eliminated that concern, getting about a 30% discount. Ray Naso was our salesman and very knowledgeable. We bought a Beauty Rest Cal King hybrid mattress and box spring. Urners also has a sleep test machine to tell you the firmness you and your spouse each prefer. You figure out your preferred firmness set a budget and go shop. Jaylon Johnson was out salesman and did a great job meeting our needs. Urners appliances center is a huge disappointment. I have made 4 different service calls week after week to fix the clicking sound on my dishwasher which is still broken. Every time they come they act as though it is fixed only to find that it is still broken once it runs through a cycle. I had higher hopes for urners. Sadly they are a huge disappointment! We were looking at updating our kitchen, so my wife and I went to Urner's to see what it would cost. Luckily Ray Naso was working. Very knowledgeable about all the products and their individual benefits v. drawbacks. He didn't just try to sell us the most expensive items. Even though it was near closing, Ray took the time to find out what we really wanted and help us make an educated decision that worked best for us. He was upfront with information and with any questions we asked. Very trustworthy. We will be asking for Ray on any future home furnishings we purchase from Urner's. read more

I tried to shop local instead of big box store. Price and sales associate were very acceptable, however, it's been over 2 months since I made the purchase of a refrigerator and dishwasher and the dishwasher has NEVER worked. I have even made the first payment. Urner's no longer has a service department, and once the sale is made, the customer becomes non existent. I've called many times and even went in person. Each time I was told that the manager Eldon had "just stepped out the back door" , and then later, that he was on vacation. I also asked for my sales person and was told numerous times that it was her day off. In all my interactions, I was never given an apology. They acted as if I had done something wrong. Finally I did talk to the associate who sold the junk to me, and she did apologize and helped me make some progress. I have had 2 service reps for Bosch come and try to fix the dw. The second one said it was non repairable and Bosch would replace it. I finally found out that it is a 2 year old appliance! WTH? Now I'm trying to work with Bosch. I was supposed to have the washer this week, and now Bosch says they forgot to have me sign a release. Maybe Santa will bring me one for Christmas. By the way, I spent $2,400+ for the 2. read more
