I had a bit of a mixed bag experience here. I ordered a sopaipilla and a scone and was happy that they made clear announcements when the food is ready. I didn't love the sopaipilla, but I think I was hoping for something with a bit more kick. However, all was not lost because the scone, which I didn't intend to order but did because I'm a sucker for baked goods, was fantastic. Super fresh and delicious. I also appreciated that they use eco-friendly boxes and utensils, which is so important, especially now that so much restaurant food is taken to go. If I lived closer I'd probably come back to try more baked goods. read more

Everything I ate and drank here was good, and the bacon breakfast burritos are some of the best I've ever had in my entire life. The tortilla is so crispy and delicious. The eggs, bacon, and hash browns are perfectly cooked. The green chiles are amazing. All the desserts are so pretty. We tried the rainbow cake which is really yummy and the rose water concha which is a light and airy roll covered in a crunchy, sweet floral topping. All the flavors and textures complemented each other so well and the food was all beautiful. I had the Sakura matcha latte with cherry blossom and vanilla and the matcha was definitely present but not too strong. The cold brew coffee is nice and strong. We sat outside on Saturday morning and there was no wait to order but a little while to get your food -- 100% worth it, but be prepared to wait a few minutes. The staff was super friendly and brought out umbrellas for tables when it started raining. Super dog-friendly. I've attempted the Ursula breakfast burrito a few times and I think I can finally stand on it and say I don't necessarily understand the hype. Ursula is like a new age modern Mexican restaurant/cafe. When you arrive there's a crowd inside and outside waiting for this burrito item. I usually get the chorizo burrito and sometimes I opt to fry a pastry. I can say that the pastries are surprisingly very good and they have an excellent donut. However, the burrito is where Ursula falls flat for me. It just doesn't have enough flavor in my opinion and for the mere fact it's usually a 30 minute wait, it seems not worth it. The bacon burrito is a little bit better, but still the same consensus of falling flat on flavor. However, the staff is really nice and really take care of the crowds well and it's a cute quaint place. Overall, I would say try it because it's always nice to try a popular spot to get your own opinion, but I wouldn't say it's nearly close to being the best breakfast burrito in NYC. read more

It warms the cockles of my New Mexican heart to finally see a real New Mexican spot in NYC, and it's a welcome bonus (to my taste buds but not my wallet) that it's only a 10 minute walk from my apartment. Breakfast burritos taste like something you'd get at the balloon fiesta (which is to say, they're legit). And while the sopaipillas are a little bit dense for my personal preference, the taste is right, and I'm not about to complain about anything I can get filled with (transcendent, glorious, heavenly) carne adovada. All garnished with tomato and iceberg lettuce, which is the only correct way to do it. As a bonus they have the best coffee in the neighborhood. I can't afford to keep Ursula Brooklyn open singlehandedly, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to try. read more

The chorizo breakfast burrito is mouthwatering and worth the wait. Even if you take it to go, the tortilla doesn't get soggy since they char the wrap while still keeping all the deliciousness (i.e. hashbrown/cheese) inside warm. Eggs are fluffy and pork is perfectly seasoned and not overly salty. Go early on the weekdays/ends and expect to wait in line during and after you place your order (closed Monday and Tuesday). Limited outdoor seating is available (randomly located in a neighborhood with no other restaurants) and breakfast burritos only go until noon. read more

It's pretty hit or miss. Some of their items are amazing while others are just not good. But I keep going back on the basis of the tasty things hoping the next thing I get will be as awesome as the nachos :) The service leaves something to be desired, especially if you go later in the day. When you walk in, the employees may not acknowledge you for up to 10 minutes, but don't worry, eventually they will come take your order. They don't have all of their items listed on the menu board or wall, so read the reviews or website before you go. The vegan nachos are AMAZING. The best I've ever had. They have acorn squash and spicy corn on them along with some mysterious vegan cheese that actually doesn't taste bad. Probably the first time I've ever said that about a vegan cheese. So flavorful. And the portion is enormous--far more than two people could finish in one sitting. The breakfast burrito with egg, hash brown, and hot sauce is incredible. Huge portion, pretty greasy, great hangover breakfast. The sweet sopaipillas are super tasty. Highly recommend. Good to share with a friend. The chocolate cardamom pop tart is interesting, but the serving size and price ($8!) is too much for one person. I wish they made it like one fourth of the size. The vegan sopaipillas are not that good. I don't think that soft rice and mushy refried beans belong on a fried dough. It was really bland. It would be awesome if they put some vegan chorizo or tofu or even egg on them instead. Something with more zing. The chocolate chip cookie is also not very good. It's extremely oily and kind of tastes like something fried in old oil. Not sure how you mess up a chocolate chip cookie, but I wouldn't get it again. Probably the most disappointing thing I have tried is the poblano relleno. It was one tiny soggy pepper with half a scoop of quinoa on it. The flavor was good, but for $14 I was expecting a meal, not a bite. Go with the nachos instead--same flavors but at least 5x as much food. read more

Simply outstanding take on Mew Mexican cuisine. Everything we had was delicious. We tried both the chorizo and the vegetarian breakfast burritos and, despite being more simple, the vegetarian was the star of the show. The simplicity of perfect hash browns, cheese and scrambled egg provided the backdrop the hatch chiles deserved, and wow did they shine. 12 hours later I'm still dreaming of the flavor, texture and heat combination which was as close to perfection in a burrito as I've ever experienced. Added to that, we also tried the rose lemon donut and the scone, both of which were stunning. The zest and fragrance of the donut made for a really interesting and delicious combination and the cornmeal in the scone gave it the perfect texture balance of crunch and softness. The ordering process was really efficient and the team were great. The wait was exactly what you'd expect for freshly made food, which is what we'd come to eat. read more

I've had the pleasure of being nourished by Eric's creations ever since we met while vending at various art markets (his spiced warm teas and amazing pastries got me and many other vendors through long, busy days!) I was so excited to see Ursula opening up, and if it weren't for the pandemic I would have come here sooner! The funniest thing is I couldn't tell you what the hell I ate but all I know is that it was damn good because I cleaned the plate. Literally came across this spot by searching for a new spot for lunch. I've never had New Mexican food so I thought it wouldn't hurt to expand my horizons and try it out. I ordered the vegan stuffed sopaipillas. Never heard of it before in my life but how I'd describe it is the thick, doughy bread that restaurants use for garlic bread stuffed with burrito fixings such as beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, rice and tangy/spicy sauces. (P.S. I use the word spicy a bit dramatically because I can hardly manage pickled peppers--I'm soft). It wasn't bad at all. It was actually really better than what I'd expected. Remind you, I didn't have much expectations because I came here on a whim. Either way, I was super pleased! The highlight for me though was the maple pistachio doughnut. Holy moly! It was like Krispy Kreme came to Crown Heights. I kid you not! If they sold them by the dozen, I'd buy them just to not have to come back for a while. The lemon saffron poppy loaf was what I had my hopes high for because lemon poppy treats are in my top 5 but it was a little too dry for me. Anyways, great job so far, Ursula BK! I've been living in New York since 2010. I grew up in Albuquerque/Rio Rancho, New Mexico. While NYC doesn't want for Puerto Rican/Dominican/Peruvian food, I've found it sorely lacking in the distinct, but small, food landmark of New Mexico. I miss my home's signature flavors as much as I miss the mountain sunsets and desert landscapes. This morning I walked a good hour, partially uphill, to this new place inspired by New Mexican food. I was skeptical. So far, New York has proven time and again that its idea of green or red 'chile' is just verde or red sauce. So I go to Ursula's and politely wait in line behind a dirty-blonde with a tastefully blue mask. Covid fashion. Once it was my turn to head in, I peek at the menu and the display of little snacks and my heart rose in my throat. Biscochitos - not my favorite NM snack, but it was the first bit of authenticity that hit me. Then I saw the two salsa jars stacked on top of each other. Both from Hatch, NM, red AND green chile! I'm a bona fide red chile fan, subtler flavor versus the tangy of green, but I was so excited. In less than five seconds I knew what I wanted. A chorizo breakfast burrito and an horchata latte and a rather handsome-looking pistachio doughnut. Order paid, I waited outside. First came the food. Good toast on the flour tortilla that surrounded my burrito. First bite hit me with that real red chile and the scrambled eggs that took me back to ABQ and getting a Twister's #8 with red. The next bite made this flavor quest unique in their chorizo - inexplicably good, and the potato was outstanding. Best of all, not a grain of rice in the whole thing. A true New Mexican breakfast burrito! I was so happy! The horchata latte, though I was a moron and burnt my tongue, reminded me of the NM State Fair. Of course the horchata there was iced, but it tasted right, unlike the frequent New York horchata that overdoes it on the cinnamon and tastes instead like Big Red gum. The doughnut was a sweet finisher as I made my way to the park and gradually back home. All in all, I'm sad to say I miss New Mexico a little bit less, today. Slay, Ursula, slay. Came here on a Saturday morning on my way out of town for a week with my partner + dad. Ordered a chorizo burrito, egg burrito and vegan burrito + one of their special matcha lattes and a bunch of New Mexican inspired baked goods to try. There must have been 20 or so people waiting outside, yet the staff was perfectly organized and super efficient. We had our to-go items within a half an hour and they called us up each time an item was ready (I.e we got all of our food + drink while it was hot - important!). The hatch Chile is a really special flavor - perfect level of spice. I will definitely be returning for another 'rito and some of the hatch chile powder. Also, Lani Halliday of Brutus Bakeshop sells cookies and does some of the baked goods, too. They are all slammin'. read more

I've never been to New Mexico but the real heads tell me this is the best burrito you'll get in Brooklyn that pays homage to the south eastern breakfast tradition. I used to frequent the old location / restaurant The Awkward Scone and was devastated when it closed. This is by far the best breakfast burrito in Brooklyn, just be prepared to wait in line and wait outside for your food (see line pic below). I really loved Ursula when it first opened. I'm not sure, but my guess would be that they've had difficulty scaling proportionally with their popularity. I've eaten there around 7 times since opening, but the last two times I've gotten burritos, I waited on the street 25 and 40 minutes respectively for 2 breakfast burritos. The wait time would be more manageable if you could call an order in, but they don't currently allow for that. Or some system of letting customers know of exceedingly long waits before placing their orders. The quality seems to have gone down over time, as well. Not necessarily with the ingredients, but in the construction of the burritos. They have been filled totally unevenly the last few times, so that one end or section is entirely potatoes and the other is all eggs. Kind of disappointing after such a long wait. Today I tried the $9 passionfruit guava pop-tart which looks and sounds amazing, but for my taste was absolutely cloying and was unfortunately thrown out after two bites. I've found the cashiers to consistently be aloof at best. No greeting at all aside from a blank stare even when I've greeted them. The end of todays interaction was "you can take your card," and the cashier turned their back and walked away without another word. I'm not looking to be fawned over, but when the most basic interactions lack any degree of cordiality whatsoever, it's just awkward, unpleasant, and kind of confusing. I wasn't even really sure my transaction was actually over or not. Maybe all of the above is better at lunch, which I can't vouch for. Initially I would have recommended Ursula to anyone (and did), and had been interested in trying the non-breakfast options, but I don't see myself going back again and would no longer recommend it. read more

Completely elitist gentrifying BS that ruins the neighborhood. Serving rich gentrifyers $15 mediocre burgers with no sides. Some of the worst customer service in Brooklyn hands down. Maybe if you open up a restaurant you should have a TELEPHONE that works! The lines r too long to call ahead and only caviar is available which adds $5 per dish before tax and delivery which unless youre a rich yuppie like every other person in line is impossible . I was happy when they opened up, but even just seeing how unclean it was just now, disgusting small space to work. sadly will never come back again and make sure nobody in my friend group does too.
