In every case we felt that we were not getting value and the quotes were well above our expectations, and accompanied with some pretty hard selling. I hired this company several years ago to remodel my bathroom. This turned into a total disaster and cost me more money than I could imagine. After they installed my Shower it started leaking and the new floors he installed started bubbling up. I called Sam back and waited over a week for them to respond. As I was showing the damage to Sam's installer he called Sam and said there a problem at my residence. Sam did come out and they got on the roof with a water hose thinking it was a leak in the roof. They then cut out the sheet rock behind the shower and could not find anything wrong. There were no water leaks found on the roof, in the plumbing or behind the walls. This Company abandoned me and never came back and would not make any repairs on the shower, the new floors and the Sheetrock. I hired a leak detection company and they came out and found the leak was definitely in the new shower pan. I had to hire someone else to tear out the shower pan and fix the leak. I would have taken Sam to court which I had a great case but due my health at that time I couldn't to deal with Sam. I would never recommend this man or his company. read more

Do not use Design Carpet because they scammed us and our insurance company. In 1999, we had red oak floors installed throughout the entire downstairs of our house from another company. They were absolutely beautiful for 14 years until our hot water heater overflowed while we were out of town and flooded the downstairs of our house. In 2013, our insurance company strongly recommended Design Carpet to install new red oak floors throughout the entire downstairs of our house. They were paid over $40,000 to install the new red oak wood floors. Within a few weeks of installation, the wood started to cup along the width of all of the boards so we called Design Carpet to come over to fix the problem. The owner, David, and the manager, Steve, came up with all kinds of excuses as to why this had happened and said that it was our fault. However, all of the conditions that they said caused the problem had existed prior to when they installed the floors and there was never a problem with our original hardwood floors that we had for 14 years. So at the very least, they didn't do their job to ensure that their floors had the right external conditions to be viable. Their recommendation was that we file another insurance claim. They wanted to completely replace the floors that had just been installed. When I said that I would owe $4000 for the deductible, they said that they would "work with us." Their recommendation to fix the problem was to commit insurance fraud. We lived with the cupped floors for seven years. A few months ago, we had several other floor companies come to our house to tell us what could be done. These other companies said that the floors just needed to be sanded flat and that would fix the problem. Again, we called David from Design Carpet to come over and he still continued to give us the run around. He would not even bother to give us a bid to sand the floors even though we asked several times. It cost us $9000 to hire another company to sand and stain our floors. It has been several months since the floors were refinished and they look fantastic! This is something that Design Carpet should have done to our floors to fix them at no cost to us but instead they wanted to rip us off and our insurance company too. read more

Shop around before you buy from them. Huge collection but nothing different and at high prices. They don't stock a single thing and I felt them more as a middle man than a deal breaker. They got us big on a 12x12 glass tile and the wooden flooring. They pretended that the tile we chose is a very special order and they will have to check the availability and all that. However it came very quick within 24 hrs @ 15.99/sqft. I was also shopping for the backsplash and stopped at Floor and Decor 2 days after purchasing the glass tile. The same tile that I bought for 15.99 was available at Floor and Decor for 10.99/sqft in the same box same company same description. This people would not refund neither match the price. I also purchased wooden floor in big quantity @ 3.95/sqft from them at the same time when I purchased the glass tile. I fell little short on wooden floor. So a week later I reordered the quantity that I fell short and also ordered a box extra for future needs just in case I need to replace any damage. The other store close by also had exactly the same wooden flooring coming from the same manufacturer/distributor but at the lower price than them. This other store was 20 cents/ sqft cheaper than them but their quote came a day later after I had already purchased from US Carpet. This little 20 cents/sqft made a big difference of 600$ as I bought a huge quantity. So on a reordering of a wooden floor I showed them the quote of the other store and requested to match the price on this new order. But they refused to do that just because I decided not to buy granite slab through them which they had quoted and the only reason I didn't buy from them because even in this they were 300$ higher than the other shop and didn't want to match the price either. You would think that they were not matching the price because the quality might be different or so. But let me tell you that all these shops order through the same warehouses so there is no question about difference in the quality. If you are in the market shopping for slab you would know exactly what I am talking about. And yes be ready to exercise your back. If you don't have your installer or helper with you then be ready to pick those heavy boxes your self. They don't have helper to load into your truck or be prepared to drive your vehicle miles and miles to the warehouse to pick up your stuff where this people order from. GOOD LUCK!!! read more
