Good Lord how are we suppose to shop on this Isle?

Went to the Bellevue store this morning to find 5 Isles weren't accessible to the customers- One isle had a ladder with 3 huge white bags laying on the floor- I had to move the huge white bags to get thru the Isle Sorry but won't be back-

Love the entire aisle of syrup selection. I always stock up on mango, guava, passion fruit for summer Italian sodas. Also noticed they had quite the selection of chocolate covered espresso beans. Hidden location behind the old skate king. Limited hours. I was warned the store was closing soon and when I left there were quite a few disappointed customers in the parking lot.

Most of the staff here are nice, however, the store manager is very terrible, we bought expired dairy products here, but it is three days expired and still on the shelf, we came back to the store and tell the manager about the problem,he didn't feel anything wrong, he thinks it is normal ,just return or exchange,He didn't apologize but he said that is very busy in here and he can't take care of all. This is irresponsible. expired dairy products can cause really bad health issue. The manager needs to better educated about food safety that would be better for customers

My boyfriend doesn't want me to tell you about Cash & Carry. The reason isn't obvious. The store is small. It has no marketing displays. The cumbersome carts have flat beds for case sized lots. The main attraction is good prices for large quantities. At first I resisted, simply because of the storage issue. Where was I going to put all of this food? How was I going to use it all up before it spoiled? Then we bought New York strip steaks at $4.36 per lb and all we had to do was cut the beef into 1 inch steaks. I do have room to store 10 lbs of steak. Okay, so maybe there was something to this. Today I bought two gallons of milk for $4.12 making it $2.06 per gallon. That fit into the refrigerator easily. I bought a gallon of mayonnaise for $6 instead of a quart for $4. Since it takes 4 quarts to make a gallon...hmmm, ok it was a good deal. That went into the refrigerator with room to spare as well. And so the space issue was greatly exaggerated. So why doesn't my boyfriend want you to know about it? Because unlike the evil Costco, there are no crowds, nor do you have to pay for a membership. At Cash & Carry you can shop in peace and pay only for what you buy. And it's not really roughing it to shop there despite the lack of frills. There is a clean and spacious rest room. There is a selection of cold drinks and snacks for sale. The employees are consistently friendly and helpful. And then there is that pleasant surprise at the end...it's only how much?

I have been a long time shopper since the brand name change. Recently this store in Bellevue has taken a nose dive in produce quality. Their red onions and lemons always has fungus on them. I called the store today and spoke to the assistant manager to tell them about the issue. He was least bothered to hear what I has to say and implied that I was lying as I was the only one who complained about this issue. I have receipts and pictures. He didn't even wait until I finished my conversation and hung up on me. This has never happened before they changed brands. Today's experience was very unpleasant and off-putting. I am not sure if me or my family ever want to shop at this store again. My intention of the call was not even to ask for a refund but to inform them about the issue, which I conveyed it to the assistant manager. I just wanted to give an honest feedback so they can check the condition of the produce. Selling produce with fungus on them can be a health hazard to hundreds of their customers. But looks like their customer's health is of least important. The dismissiveness of the assistant manager was appalling and shocking.

Pretty much everything else looks the same, down to the aisles. This is the cheapest place in town for food with small exceptions (gluten free bread is cheaper at Franz outlet). They don't require a membership, which is nice when you don't go very often. I think a little known fact is that they also do sell a lot of items that are normal size, so not everything is just huge restaurant sized containers. This is probably not the place for produce for a family/individual, though, unless you plan on freezing it. Some items (mandarins, kale salad blend, grape tomatoes, etc.) come in small enough portions, but most are way more than you'd be able to use before it went bad, and not all veggies and fruit survive being frozen. Watch closely for price tags. I've seen many items listed at unit price and other identical tags right next to them for similar items are per pound. If you have the time to make multiple stops for groceries, Smart Foodservice is definitely worth the trip and energy.

This is one of those old-school businesses that has it all. While being specific to the restaurant…read moreindustry, it feels more like a friendly general store than anything else. The staff knows their business inside and out and the banter is relaxed and friendly. I went in there to replace a few pieces of my Homer Laughlin dinerware, you know, that nice heavy off-white china that a lot of restaurants use. I bought my original pieces at thrift stores in Philadelphia, then some more pieces in Raleigh, NC, at a restaurant supply store, and over the years, some of them had gotten broken and I no longer had a full set. With a dinner party of 7 people at my house on Friday night, I snapped about the mismatched dishes that I was going to have to put on my table. That led to the little journey from my downtown office to Dick's, conveniently located on 1st Ave just south of town. Anyway, one of the guys behind the counter sized me up, knew that I was new to the store (immediately) and not only asked me what I needed, but in a totally cheerful way took me right to it. And it turned out that in the back, he had half a pallet of one of the pieces I needed, and enough of the rest to piece my set back together. He teased me about only buying 6, saying he'd give me a better price on a couple of hundred... but where would I put them? :-) This store is not really meant for the home cook unless you're serious about it. You have to buy dishes ("smallware" in the trade) in units of 6 or 12, which might be more than you need or want. Still, their prices are really good, especially considering what it costs to ship the stuff if you buy it online! It's heavy, and fragile(ish), so shipping usually costs more per dish than the dish itself... but not so at Dick's. It's a good thing I was in a hurry or I would have been desperate to shop for aprons, knives, mixing bowls and maybe even a tocque (what a conceit!) LOL As it was, I paid my bill and left with a nicely-wrapped box of dinerware dishes. They do have everything, and if you are serious about cooking at home, you should check them out. They are way cheaper than Williams-Sonoma, Sur La Table, etc., and the stuff is meant to last forever and to take a lot of abuse. It won't be as pretty as La Creuset, but you'll get great service out of anything you buy at this store.

I wanted to find a place in the Seattle area that had these in stock since I was worried about time constraints in shipping. I called the Boos company directly, and they told me to try contacting Bargreen Ellingson and Sur la Table for locations in my area that carried their stock. I called Sur la Table, but they did not have the cutting board I was looking for since it was a custom order item. Next, I called Bargreen Ellingson. I was directed to a customer service rep. The rep informed me that they did not have them in stock, but they could place an order for me. They said it would take 7-10 business days to arrive, and shipping would be $35.95 for ground shipping to come to my home, or $34 to arrive at the store. I complained that I could get it through Amazon for free shipping, but Amazon's site said it would take up to 4 weeks to arrive. So, I decided to go with Bargreen Ellingson. After discussing the price with the rep, I was immensely pleased! Their price was about $90 cheaper than Amazon! Sure, I had to pay for the shipping, but it was still much cheaper! Frankly, I was skeptical about the price because it seemed too good to be true. I got that "aroo?" look on my face and quizzed her to verify she was talking about the same cutting board I was talking about. I couldn't believe it. I asked how that could *possibly* be the right price, and she said: "Well, we buy these things in bulk, so we get a pretty good discount." No exaggeration there, sister! Ultimately the rep offered the shipping to my home for the store rate - $34, so I was a very happy camper. About 15-20 minutes after placing my order, I received a call back from the rep. She was very apologetic and said the item was a custom order item, and would take 4 weeks plus shipping time. She wanted to know if it was okay to proceed with the order, and I told her it was fine. It was a little disappointing that I would have to wait that much longer, but it was somewhat to be expected since Amazon had the same disclaimer. Seven days after placing my order, it arrived! 4 week, schmore weeks. Pfft. It was just as promised, and $60 cheaper than any place I could find online! All in all: great service, great prices, exceeded expectations = WIN! You gained a big, big fan, Bargreen Ellingson!
