My husband and I got married two years ago and were on the same page for just about everything EXCEPT money. While we had good spending/saving habits (no debt, lived on less than we made). However, things like tracking the budget and deciding what money items were important to our household.... were a mess. I found Julia and Art of Finance from their PBS web series on YouTube, Two Cents and was thrilled to see her vivacious personality and willingness to cut through the BS wasn't just an act for the camera. My husband and I made the financial commitment to sign up for Cash Flow Coaching with Julia and Kara, and while the initial stick price left me questioning, I can say it's the best money we've spent since being married. Art of Finance gave my husband and I a shared language and sense of ownership over our budget and money. They helped to prompt questions and discussions on what we wanted OUR lifestyle and money goals to be as a newly married couple. Because of cashflow coaching, my husband (the nerdy spreadsheets guy) learned to let go of full control of our finances and we were able to work together as a better as a result. And me (the fun person who hates spreadsheets) has learned to take an ownership piece in our finances and use a budgeting software that makes us both feel informed on our money decisions. Regardless of if you're single, newly married, or have been married for years, I would HIGHLY recommend joining up with Art of Finance and making the commitment to get your budget right and stop stressing about your money. P.S. Shout out to Kara who's a tech wiz and fixed all my budget software problems. Even if we hadn't gotten any coaching, she would have been worth the cost of the course herself.

While Navy Federal has one branch in Round Rock, TX, doing basic financial transactions has been a chore. To sum, I was given a list of locations where I could do transactions with one having an non-existent address and the other branch not having a banking relationship with Navy Federal at all. While I was off work today, I drove out to the Navy Federal on Louis Henna Blvd in Round Rock, TX. I told Justin, the credit union representative, my story about the non-existent location and he told me they could not always update their list and that when I get close to a location I should use Google maps because their addresses could be off by a digit or street. He made this sound so normal. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. How about when financial institutions publish any locations the address should be precisely correct? Then I asked about what locations allowed deposits. He said I had you had to first filter the list from the text I was sent and based on the icons you could see precisely the locations. I filtered on the list and it did not filter as he expected. So, he then said that it works better on a personal computer (PC). Of course, nothing was conveyed regarding a PC filter when the link was texted to me. It only takes $5 to open an account at Navy Federal, i.e. low cost. At this juncture, I am wondering if all the benefits of being a Navy Federal Credit Union member that my brother espoused is really worth the effort. After the Navy Federal counter representative searched on my name and she could not find me in the system, she searched on my phone number and she could not find me in the system, and she finally found me by searching on our address. I asked why she was not able to find me with the previous searches. She said oh that just happens sometimes. I find Navy Federal Credit Union's mission ironic, "Our Members are the Mission." This may be the one and only transaction I do with Navy Federal. I do not currently see Navy Federal's value commiserate with the effort to do business.

While I believe Frank is very knowable in this field, his response time and follow-through to requests is unacceptable. Timeline and Details: - Feb 06: I had my first call with Frank to discuss the process of filing my personal taxes. Frank seemed very knowledgeable on the phone. We scheduled an in-person meeting to discuss more. - Feb 13: Had in-person meeting. I was very impressed with Frank and I wanted to move forward with using his service for my personal filing. Frank told me that he, or his staff, will email me a share drive link. In this link, I would have to upload all related tax documents (W-2, income, housing, etc.) - Feb 18: I sent Frank an email asking for the share drive link. It's possible that I needed to explicitly tell Frank that I'd like to move forward with his services, but this was not clear to me. - Feb 21: I called Frank's office asking for the Share drive link. I was told that Frank was in a meeting with another client, but the share drive link would be sent that day. - Feb 25: I sent Frank a 2nd email asking for the share drive link. There has been no response update from my previous call or email (Feb 18 + Feb 21). Frank replied to my 2nd email with the share drive link. I replied to Frank's share drive link email stating that I would upload all files / documents in the coming days, and I would would send another email to Frank confirming that all files have been uploaded. - Feb 26: I sent Frank an email stating that all files have been uploaded to the provided share drive. - Mar 19: I sent an email to Frank asking about the status of my tax return. It's been 21 days since I sent Frank an email confirming that all my Tax return files have been uploaded, and no response. - Mar 24: No response to my previous email asking for an update on my filing status. I called the office, and was told that Frank didn't have my files. I stated that all my files were updated in the provided share drive. I was told Frank would take a look at my files. - Mar 27: No response from Frank via email or call. I sent another email asking for an update on my filing status. This is the timeline and details of my experience working with Frank. While I believe Frank is very knowledgeable person, his lack of response and follow-through is unacceptable. I do understand that this is a busy time for CPAs. As a new client, I would have preferred if Frank told me his bandwidth is too thin, and I should look elsewhere. I do believe if you work with Frank 100% in-person, that your experience would be better. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend Frank to file your personal tax returns.
