The only saving grace for the whole entire post office is one of their drivers who is a tiny woman with brown hair, and she is extremely nice and goes out of her way for our mail. She is the only reason why I would even give them the one star. unfortunately, she doesn't work on weekends and the weekends are when our mail just seems to be placed in the puddle in the middle of our driveway, or our packages are put in the trees instead of on our porch like everyone else.

I have not had any trouble with other post offices -- just this one. Years ago I got into a terrible -- and needless -- argument with the guy who ran it at the time. He has since retired but the unreasonableness lives on. Whenever I go in there it smells heavily of bug spray and they won't say why. Its a relatively new building so I don't understand why they have to saturate poison from floor to ceiling. What on Earth are they afraid of?! There were other incidents but most egregious of all was when I sent some vintage issues of the UCONN Student Newspaper TO THE UCONN NEWSPAPER for posterity's sake. The asshole opened my package after I left! Yes, she snooped into my mail. You should be concerned they will do the same to your mail. She evidently found it to be ineligible for media mail on highly technical grounds and sent my package back to my house instead to its destination -- wasting my 15 dollars. I was so pissed the vintage issues went into the garbage. As they always say, no good deed ever goes unpunished. That is certainly true with this particular post office. The North Windham Post Office is just down the road. Go there. They won't snoop in your mail.

The Putnam post office was able to process everything and my passport arrived... when I didn't get my birth certificate back with my passport I called Putnam.... She did and I explained the reason for my call regarding a package to see if there was anything she could do to help me. She so very kindly and thoughtfully explained to me the process. She checked on the where abouts of my package and gave me her honest best estimate for its arrival! She was spot on! . Lynn went a step further took my phone number and promised to call me when it was delivered or anything if it came in sooner. The moment it arrived she called me! THANK YOU LYNN! You are the BEST!! I stopped in on a quiet Monday afternoon and was immediately helped by a nice woman behind the counter. I told her I was in the market for Forever stamps and she flipped through her binder and showed me which ones were available for purchase. I told her my selections and then changed my mind a few times but she never grew impatient with me and helped me with a smile. Excellent customer service that is a true rarity these days!

I went in…read morelast week, and somehow 3 PM on Thursdays is not working hours (couldn't get a refund on PO Box, because the "manager" had left early). Went in the next day, well, they couldn't give me a cash refund, I had to take a "money order." Okay, another trip to the bank because post office employees are incompetent. Seems like they have let go of the only friendly employee that they had, and have hired another rude employee. Looks like this post office location is intent on letting you know that they really, really don't care about their customers. Good job on turning public opinion against postal service, when you desperately need voter support!

Jesse, the mail carrier for our neighborhood ,is remarkable . He also is extremely professional and courteous. Jesse consistently goes above and beyond to take care of the people on his route .
