Wish I had read these reviews before my ordeals (yes, plural) with this post office. Long story short, they're full of shit related to the passport services. We had not one but two appointments canceled. And we waited over a month to get the first one rescheduled after it was canceled with no notice. Our rescheduled appointment was then canceled. First explanation - someone was sick. Second explanation - they have no staff. So based on this experience and the ones others have shared, I would venture a guess they do not offer these services at all and just string everyone along. Totally messed up. read more

Went in to submit an in person passport application during the walk-in hours on their website (9:00-10:00AM Tues-Thurs). They proceed to tell me I needed an appointment and that they no longer take walk-ins and haven't for OVER 4 YEARS. But the walk-in hours are still posted on their website. Came here on a Saturday at 1pm. There were like two people in the store, not crowded at all. I wanted to mail a small package but I didn't know if it was cheaper to mail with the flat rate envelope or with my own envelope. The lady at the counter was nice and helped me figure out how much each option would cost. Using my own envelope was cheaper since the weight of the contents was relatively light, in case you're curious. A couple of people walked in and got in line while I was filling out the addresses on my package on the side. I had to send a package to a friend outside of Lancaster so I went to the Bala Cynwyd Post Office. I came in and was greeted by the sight of a variety of greeting cards and shipping supplies for sale and even a self-service shipping machine. I have never seen that before! After getting in line, I briefly spoke to Kim, one of the cashiers. She kindly helped me find the best option I was looking for. I ended up having to only pay $7 for shipping! For the entire time, Kim made sure I was doing well the entire time and was keeping everything running smooth. While the post office was a bit crowded the line moved very fast. Altogether, this is a very good Post Office with great delivery options and friendly staff! read more

The USPS website clearly states that walk-in passport services are offered at this Bala Cynwyd location on weekdays 10am-3pm. Several people were standing in line for passport service on Wed 08May2019 at about 1pm...only for the staff handling this task to announce she was only taking folks with appointments only and no walk -ins. Imagine the frustration of everyone who were walk-in and had been waiting patiently for at least thirty minutes. They left to go look for an alternative location and then there was no one left waiting for this service. Mission accomplished by the lazy USPS lady staff who clearly didn't want to do her job. Mind you there was only one person who had an appointment and she could have taken others afterwards because it stated clearly on the doors of this post office/USPS website that passport walk-in are welcome. I used to use the Bala Cynwyd post office every day as I have a business. It was always busy with a line but the service was good. During Covid I started using my local post office in Merion Station. I only used Bala Cynwyd when it was after 4 PM as they are open until 5:30. This worked out well until January 2022. I send out a lot of mail including media mail and my incoming mail goes through Bala Cynwyd so tracking states "out for delivery" when a package arrives at Bala Cynwyd. Delivery has been a problem as has mail theft. I lost a dozen packages this year all were dropped off and scanned at Bala Cynwyd then vanished never getting to the Philadelphia hub. Or at least never seeing another scan. I pack like Fort Knox so it isn't my packing, I am a professional. I can not prove that the theft occurs at Bala Cynwyd but other strange things have been happening through that post office. The mail gets scanned in to Bala Cynwyd but often is held there for days even weeks before showing "out for delivery" and a few incoming packages also have vanished after being scanned at Bala Cynwyd. I have been lied to several times and told that the arrival scans are computer generated as the packages were in bags and the bags get scanned but upon sorting the packages were not in the bags. After investigation and having cameras checked by Postal Inspectors the packages in question were placed in the bags in Philadelphia. It is possible that they were removed during transit from Philadelphia to Bala Cynwyd and that is still under investigation. Bala Cynwyd blames the Philadelphia hub (near Airport) Philadelphia hub blames Bala Cynwyd saying they lost the mail. please be aware that there definitely is theft going on and I have filed with postal authorities as I take my business seriously. This isn't just small time. I am currently missing an insured $550 package Priority Mail that made it to Bala Cynwyd then vanished. It is already four business days since it supposedly arrived and was scanned in Bala Cynwyd. As I have seen a great deal of theft this year both ways I no longer trust this Post Office. Interestingly I have never lost an outgoing package that was scanned at my local post office in Merion Station and I rarely use Bala Cynwyd. I have currently stopped sending packages through the Bala Cynwyd branch as I just do not trust them and no matter if this is a truck driver or someone in Philadelphia it just is not worth taking the risk of mail vanishing. I know many Postal Employees as I have used this Post office for 20 years. One other problem is that the Bala Cynwyd Post office almost never answers the phone . read more

I went to this post office yesterday for two money orders, I stood in line for 15 minutes with a line of 9 people behind me. Instead of assisting customers who may have already had their business together and getting back to those who needed more help or overall guidance for their business. Once I got up to the desk, the woman who helped me was rushing to get my stuff done to get to her lunch break, not only was my information wrong. She walked away from me while I was speaking to her about her mistake. read more

While the staff is usually friendly, you have two choices when shipping pre-paid/labeled packages at this locations: a) wait for 20 minutes in the agonizingly slow line to get an immediate scan, or b) set the packages on the counter or drop bin and know that they may wait anywhere from 4 to 7 days before making the first scan, making the recipient think you were the cause of the delay rather than them. I get that they are busy, but they could at least scan the packages. read more

The office is set up to trick you into paying for priority mail, which I think is really crummy of them. Instead of regular packing tape on the counters, they use priority mail tape. If you use this tape then when you get to the counter they surcharge you for using priority tape and subsequently priority mail. Besides that, the post office is clean and staff are friendly. I just wish they wouldn't try to trick people into paying more? read more

Avoid going here if you can. They don't know what they are doing. Stop wasting people's time. I was in line to mail a couple documents, I usually grab the priority mail envelope at the station to save some time. Since they didn't have the envelope at the self serve station, I had to get in the line (it was a 15 minuet wait at the line). Once I got to the register, the cashier gave me the envelope told me fill out the information, okay, and it took me less than a minuet to fill out. Instead of ring me up, I was told to get back in the line and pay for it. So I basically just stood in the line for 15 minuets to get envelope? You guys are stupid. read more

I live in the city and used to drive out to this post office because the service was so great and reliable. Things have really gone downhill over the past 2 years. The service is incredibly slow, the workers are unfriendly and have attitude, they hide all of the priority mail boxes and envelopes behind the counter so you have to wait in line to ask for one. There is always a long line of frustrated customers waiting, so if you're in a hurry, this is no longer the post office to go to. read more

I called this morning to ask if they are processing passport application and the lady on the phone said yes they are. I called again 10 minutes before 3 pm to double check if they are accepting passport applications because it is snowing outside. I don't want to drive in the snow and find out that they are short staffed and that no one will be available to work on it. Now after talking to this male employee for 2 minutes, he put me on hold as he would like to get more information about it. He then put me on hold for 20 minutes and never got back to me. I called back and he denied entertaining such a call. I found out he was the supervisor. Shame on you, Mr. Supervisor of Bala Cynwyd USPS. No wonder USPS is going down. Its because of poor service like this. You just lost a customer, but, I guess, you don't care. You still get paid at the end of the day no matter what. read more

It is so frustrating to stand in line when no one is at the desk and rather, the person who is supposed to be at the desk is sorting something very very slowly or filling out time cards for the staff, talking about shift hours while I wait on line. I really like this Post Office, I come from Philly just to go to this particular post office. The employees are helpful, quick, and they always have at least 2/3people working whereas in philly you may have one. I give the employees a 5star rating kudos to you! So why the 3 star rating? Well I came in a few days ago and was taken aback by the supervisor or manager on duty,..older woman, shoulder length blonde or gray hair, kind of heavyset. An I'm describing her because I don't know her name but she was carrying on fussing about who put the sign in the lobby you know those signs next to the rails where the customer line begins. Then she went behind the counter and asked an employee Do she know why they ask the customers to step aside? Ok now ...the employee she asked has been working there for awhile cause I've seen her several times before, so of course she knows why, he'll I know why and I don't work there! So I felt like she was abusing her power and was having some sort of bad day. Now if your going to manage or supervise you do it when customers are not in there. I felt she was over the top and was trying to embarrass them. These folks work hard an really do a great job,..something most employers don't recognize you for because they're too busy bitching about unnecessary crap! read more

Staff here was very helpful, nice, and informative without being belittling. Hours are a little spotty but I was pleased to see they were open when I needed them to be and they had the last pick up of the day at 5 o clock. This branch is two blocks off of City Avenue and Conshohocken State Road (corner of the two "battling Sunocos", lol). Although, according to demographics, I have a post office within my own zip code...I go out of my way to visit this location. I used to love it because there were these cute older white male clerks there. They were so friendly and would get you taken care of quickly...especially the one with the ponytail :) I suppose they've retired because I haven't seen them in a while. However, the new clerks are very friendly and efficient as well. They have a self-service center, P.O. Boxes, greeting cards, as well as all of the other standard postal services. Going here on a repeated basis tends to make me feel that the government is not as convoluted as it often seems....ok maybe not....and let's face it, nobody really enjoys going to a post office. It's a kind of necessary evil, but there's definitely nothing evil about this place. read more

I called to ask a question and the lady representative couldn't help me because my zip code was wrong. So I asked her where to call and she said the 800 number. I told her that I spent an hour on the number and couldn't get redirected. I then asked her for the phone number for my zip code and she asked me for my zip code. Before I even gave her all the digits she laughed at me and said the number is the 800 number. And then she immediately said I need to put you on hold now. She laughed at me. This is completely disrespectful and you should treat your customers with more care. All I needed was a phone number. read more

Great place with great employees who are friendly and approachable. They really take their time and help you. It's air conditioned and they don't give you a hard time. If you have something wrong with your packages, they explained how you can avoid it next time. Whether I have one or five packages or twenty, they scan them without a problem and don't give me attitude like I experience at my "home" post office. I usually come here to mail packages and that's about it. Lines are hit or miss. Sometimes I'm in a line 5-10 people deep, other times, there's absolutely no one. They do have a self service station where you can send packages and get stamps, but if you want to do media mail, you have to wait in line. Typically, 2 people working the front desk. When the lines start getting longer, someone from the back and start to help people who might be picking up a package/mail or along those lines which helps. Very nice people over here and have never had a bad experience with any of the workers! read more

Terrible service. On three occasions submitted "Hold mail notice" while on vacation. On all three occasions they continued to deliver the mail. Before our most recent trip I went to the post office and letting them know about earlier hold problems asked that they make sure it wouldn't happen again. That didn't work! In addition we are alway getting other peoples mail. It's a pretty basic service and should not be as screwed up as it appears. I would cancel the service if there was a way to do it! read more

Their staff, called Shelly, was REALLY helpful! I got a mail delivery issue yesterday, which I mailed out from the bala cynwyd USPS store last week. I was trying to call the receipt USPS store, but couldn't find the direct number. So I called the 800 number, but had to wait over 1 hour. Then I tried to call the bala cynwyd usps local number. To be honest, I didn't expect there would be someone pick up the phone. But, Shelly did! After I explained my issue, she said she would help me out and call me later. Again I didn't expect this could be resolved and prepared for the result that the package would be mailed back to me. However, a few minutes later, Shelly called me back and directed me how to do next in order to get the package. Eventually the person that I mailed to got the package! Later I knew Shelly had been emailing and contacting the other USPS store back and forth many times for me. Without Shelly and Bala Cynwyd USPS store, this wouldn't be resolved so smoothly! I need to give 5 stars to the Bala Cynwyd USPS Store and their staff!!! read more

The staff here are so uber helpful compared to any post office in Philadelphia. I brought my fiance out here last week as he had a number of international packages to send off I I really didn't feel like dealing with the surly Philly staff. Rich was great about advising the best way to seal the packages and told us how we can get an account online to prepare our packages for shipping ahead of time and order most of the supplies (in addition to handing us a bunch to start with). The line here can actually get quite long - I've waited up to an hour on a bad day. I have a client that I forward her mail on to her winter home which is outside of the continental United States which prevents her from just putting in a forwarding address so I am here on a weekly basis for half the year and look forward to seeing Nick, Nick, Joan, and Rich. They are open Saturdays until 2:30p and offer passport services. read more

I am very surprised at the positive reviews given this post office as many people I know have had experiences there similar to mine - atrocious!! i've had so many problems there, I don't know where to start - and they're always, always rude about it! They lost a package of mine and yelled at me when I had the nerve to ask for it - and I am always very polite to them. A woman working there insisted that Canada and Britain are the same place - I am not kidding! She wanted to charge a ridiculous amount to mail a package to Canada, so I took it to the Merion post office where they did know the difference and charged half as much!
