If negative stars could be given, I would. I have seen so many meltdowns from other customers, have endured several lost packages, long waits, and rude service all around. I get it.....it''s not the easiest job, and I appreciate the workers' efforts in general ar USPS.....but I have no words to describe just how awful this branch is. They lost an entire architectural model, just returned to sender rather than even notify me. I watched a woman go into a crying fit over a lost package, where she begged and begged for them to look...after 3 tries they finally looked, 5 minutes later...PRESTO! package was found! If you send someone a package here, make it a loud color so the employees have an easier time finding it, as there obviously is a shortage of staff. This is an update to my recent review. The story gets even better! After W. Li tried to close the case and say I could file a claim I tried and could not. Then I got a call from someone at "Arctic Glacier" claiming to be a postal employee who basically yelled at ME and said the box was delivered to an address on S. 5th. Not even close to my address! This person was so horrible that I filed a complaint. Then I got another person who called me and said it was in fact delivered "correctly" to the address the sender used at Hooper St. I asked for proof and was sent a label with the wrong sender zip code and the wrong tracking number! These folks have no idea what they are doing but someone is doing shady stuff and everyone else is covering it up. Beware! read more

I have never been treated as rudely by a stranger as I was at this post office. I went to pick up a package that said had attempted delivery (I was home near the door the whole day)- they did not leave a slip but USPS online said I could pick it up starting today. I went to the office and the woman working behind the counter yelled at me, yelled at her colleague who was trying to be helpful and tell her that my package was on the shelf, and threw my package in the slot and wouldn't speak to me after going to get it. I spoke to her respectfully and with kindness, and I have no idea why she would be so horrible. The other woman working (I believe her name is Jackie) was incredibly lovely and friendly, and I want to thank her for stepping in during a tense situation. read more

I am writing this review based on my experience with their passport services. I scheduled my passport application appointment on a Wednesday afternoon here. There was a line, but it was moving fast. All the workers were kind and helpful. I was directed to the passport window, and the woman in the window was nice, helpful, and accommodating. I lost my old passport, and she walked through the documents needed with me (I do be staying prepared). She told me the prices, so I could write the checks on the spot, and answered all the questions I had about delivery time. I cannot speak on the experiences that everyone else had with postage, but my passport application here was perfectly a-okay. read more

Even the machines don't want to work. Self Serve Kiosk is not dispensing stamps or postage for parcels and packages. It's better to pay extra at a third-party contract shipping office than try to accomplish anything at this post office. You will just waste hours of your day and leave frustrated and with elevated blood pressure. A man is working there and is not wearing a mask and will he will not respond when you say something to him. He came out into the lobby to corral customers into the pick up line. I've been going here for almost 20 years. Service has gotten a bit better but this maskless shit horrified me. Even if he was vaccinated. My bf is a nurse and they still have to wear them to avoid getting and passing on pathogens. This guy is dealing with high volumes of random people. Highly irresponsible and disrespectful. Mail is everywhere, trash everywhere, bins just ignored, things being stolen, the whole works. The USPS has its issues but this place is separate from that and is just plainly an issue. Some things don't really need to be said to be understood in life. The sky is blue. Water is wet. The Williamsburg Post Office on South 4th and Marcy Avenue is the most miserable place on the western hemisphere, with workers that hate their job so much they feel the need to try and make your hate your day, and yourself. Being jerks almost reads like a sport to them. They're happy as high heaven laughing and joking with one another behind the glass, but the minute they turn to a customer they are miserable beyond belief. Sure, you're not in the most pleasing job you could be in, but perk up, you're getting decent money. And a wonderful benefits, insurance and retirement package (which is something the 2/3 of New Yorkers who are simply gig & freelance workers can't get!). read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. They keep leaving our mail outside of our apartment ON THE STREET in Brooklyn. I have filed a claim and spoken to multiple people and their solution is different every time. One time they said we needed to bring a new key for our front door into the post office which we did. The problem persisted and then when we called again they said they have multiple people working on this route so bringing a key in won't help and that we need to instal a "key keeper" to our door to grant them access to our building. We have lived here for a year and my friend lived her previously for 13 years and our downstairs neighbour has been here since 2000. There has never been an issue so I don't understand why the change now. When they do get into our front door they leave the mail outside of our mailbox instead of in the mailbox leaving it open and available to anyone who enters our building. We have had credit cards go missing and important financial documents and don't know what to do about this because everyone we speak to is either not helpful or they sound like they are going to help and then the issue doesn't get resolved. Hoping someone can reach out to us that has some sort of solution to this and that any mailman that thinks it is okay to leave anyones mail outside on the street in Brooklyn gets fired. read more

This branch of the post office refuses to honor redelivery requests. This is now the second time that I have been at home and had a "sorry we missed you!" slip delivered instead of a package I was waiting for. (No attempt to ring the bell or deliver the package.) I promptly went online to schedule a redelivery. The redeliveries never arrive. The first time this happened, back in August, a week after requesting redelivery I filed a ticket. The next day, I received a call from someone at the branch saying I should come in the following day to pick up the package. I duly did so: when I got there, no one could find the package for twenty minutes, as I stood there patiently hoping I wasn't catching covid in the enclosed space. Eventually: whoops, it's on the truck out for delivery! Sorry to waste your time! Half an hour later, when I arrived home, the package was indeed delivered, after that needless circus and a lot of frustration and wasted time. This time? Who knows. First several steps have repeated like clockwork. A polite suggestion to the folks at the Williamsburg post office: if you don't intend to offer redelivery as a service, make sure that addresses served by your branch don't show up as "Redelivery eligible" on the website. And if you call someone to tell them to pick up a package, please don't lose track of the package in the next three hours. read more

There is a zero rating for this post office they steal your packages. I made multiple complaints about this post office. Next step is the Post Master General. An investigation needed to be done 2 times status said delivered package never received. The best thing to do is have your packages delivered to a pickup location. I was verbally attacked by a employee. The woman was covering her name tag, but I got the last bit of her name Aundry. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE. This woman needs to be fired immediately. I've never felt such a hostile environment to ship a simple package. I walked in there trying to ship a simple package and she aggressively came at me and started screaming at me, rolling her eyes saying that I had to pay three dollars for tape. When I told her I'd take it home and I would go and grab some she told me that I had no choice because she already printed out the label so there's nothing I could do and I had to pay the money. I also asked for a package pick up because my label was stolen and She said that she didn't wanna go looking for it because it was a waste of her time. She was being so rude to me that another employee had to step in and help because she had it out for me for some reason. I spoke in a calm manner which also Did no good. This is legitimately the absolute worst Post Office I have ever been to. For one thing, the employees are all so intensely miserable and rude, the experience, regardless of their lack of effective services, is extremely unpleasant. My use of adjectives in this review is very, very intentional. Additionally, I have had SEVERAL packages lost / not scanned / not passed off correctly after dropping them off at this particular location, and they do nothing about it. Lastly, back in October/November 2023, the service elevator at this location was broken for over a MONTH and every single package inside this location was stuck at the post office and they did not make any customers aware of this. Not a single package could leave the post office during this time, but they continued taking packages without notifying the patrons that there was an issue. I had returns, medicine, gifts, etc., all stuck in this freaking post office for literally over a month with no update from the office at all on when they would fix their elevator. I called a few times a week for 4 weeks to ask for an update and the employees seemed to have no drive to actually fix this issue. It was a very big inconvenience to me, and I'm sure other patrons as well. I understand that this is a government funded operation and they likely had little to no say in when this issue could be fixed, but not once did an employee try to empathize and or apologize for the inconvenience when I asked for updates. Not even the smallest "ugh I'm sorry this sucks I know". I guess their elevator is essential to sending out packages. I wish I could leave a negative review on this place. I will never, ever go back there. It is a terrible experience start to finish. I could not NOT recommend this location less - truly terrible and a very poor representation of the community. I will be paying the $2 to send out my USPS packages through the Montague UPS from now on. read more

I can see why this location has some low reviews but my experience was completely different. The lines were very long and seemingly slow moving. Luckily, this location has the automated postal machine and an employee in the lobby assisting customers with drop-offs and information. I luckily found a parking space out front and was able to get in-and-out with his 10 minutes. Using the automated machine is a must. read more

This Post office is an absolute nightmare. They keep closing super early - I have arrived at as early as 2:30pm and they were locking the gates on a weekday - when I find a worker outside they tell me there are "new hours because of covid" and says these new hours cannot be found online. They also cannot tell me in person what these new hours are. What? If you are closing before your scheduled time, change the online info or at least put a sign up. Wasted my time FOUR separate occasions carrying a million prepaid packages for my business that only needed to be dropped in a bin. WORST ever. When I went down to this location to pick up, they told me my package was being redelivered, despite me being unable to schedule a redelivery to my address. They couldn't tell me any other details--no time, no reason why my tracking number still said it was ready for pickup. First off the supervisor Alfedo doesn't want to help at all. He never takes any of my complaints seriously. I had 2 packages lost this year. I spoke to the stupidvisor Alfedo and everytime he tells me that he will call me and he doesn't. The clerk tells me that he is not there for the past 2 days when he actually was. I told her I spoke to him yesterday on the phone. So I left the post office and called the post office and lo and behold supervisor Alfedo picks up and as soon as I said this is alfedo he hangs up on me. I've been coming here all my life and this post office is getting worse and worse with all these new postal workers. I don't see any of the old school workers anymore. To the lady who says "Calm down, it's fine," I can tell you don't live in the neighborhood. They have one job to do, they don't do it, they don't respond to complaints, and the same incompetent people just continue to [not] work there. Our mail carrier does not deliver our mail. They throw it on the ground, leave it outside, deliver it to the wrong address, lie about attempting to deliver it, or it mysteriously disappears for weeks or months or forever. I've received shipments (that were sent via 2-day shipping) six weeks after the estimated delivery date, after the post office has informed me and the sender that they are lost and they cannot find them in the system. And I mean SHIPMENTS. It has happened multiple times. I've received wedding invites months after the event. And I've also just not received wedding invites (AT ALL) and had some very awkward conversations with friends. I've picked important financial documents off the ground, soaked in mud. I've been surprised by neighbors on the sidewalk, begging me to check inside our building for an important package or envelope, and I completely understand, since the mail carrier seems to leave packages and envelopes wherever they want, whenever they want. I've also complained, many, many times. And I know my neighbors have, too. A few months ago, a sign appeared from a neighbor in our building, pleading with the mail-person to please stop lying about delivering their mail, as they have informed delivery and really just want their mail. I've also had the extremely unpleasant experience of dealing with one such mail carrier in person. As I was walking my dog on the sidewalk and she was sniffing in front of our stoop, a mail truck pulled up, parked and the man inside LAID on the horn while making eye contact and glaring at us, and continued to honk and glare until I walked around the corner. To be clear, we were on the sidewalk and this angry man just did not want to share the sidewalk with us, probably specifically my small and very sweet dog. PLEASE: Fire all your staff and start over. At least some of them are actually criminals, and we have to pay them to steal and destroy our mail. read more

Our USPS mail man has decided to not buzz anyone on our street for weeks, it says he's unable to deliver items and then doesn't even leave a note. I've scheduled redelivery 2-3 times over the phone and online but the packages are still not being picked up from the mailing centre or redelivered. I try to avoid having anything delivered through USPS but every once in a while banks, government and eBay uses them and it's a nightmare. At this point, it's robbery and fraud and I'm going to look at complaining to a city or government rep. read more

The latest fiasco, i spent 7.25 on Priority Mail to send documents to a bank in Queens on Monday, it's Thursday and the envelope not only never arrived, the tracking number says it was never mailed. Now I have to redo the documents, and miss half a day of work to take the subway to Queens to deliver them by hand tomorrow because this post office had one job, get an envelope from Brooklyn to Queens, and they couldn't even do that. If I ever run for public office, my platform will be to shut this place down. The fact that taxpayer dollars keep this place open is infuriating. I never get stuff mailed to my apartment, but I thought a Micro SD card would be able to fit in the mailbox ... nope. Even though I was home, I still received a slip of paper saying it was undeliverable, and the reference number they gave me to schedule redelivery doesn't even work. So now I'm just waiting for it to be returned so I can hopefully get a refund since I don't have the emotional fortitude to ever go back into that place. My upstairs neighbor was also home when his package was undelivered. His slip sent him to the wrong post office! So he got the awesome experience of having to visit not one but two shitty failed government establishments in the same day. The last time I was expecting a package from them, I received 3 pieces of paper in the same visit (also home that time!) claiming that there were 3 failed delivery attempts. All at once. No date. So, I go in, and after an hour of waiting, it turns out I had 2 packages! Cool! Get home ... neither of them were the one I was waiting for, so I had to GO BACK, and I don't think I have ever fully recovered. Yelp should have an option for negative stars. This is the worst post office I've ever dealt with. Ever. The lines are so long and inefficient that I got a PO Box in the East Village because it was quicker for me to take the L train to 14th St, stand in line there and get my mail than it was for me to pick up mail at the 11211 PO. Molly C. is right -- they can turn that pick-up line into an hour long experience. I've been in a 2 person line to pick up a package that took 45 minutes. My first xmas living in Williamsburg, more than 60% of the packages loved ones sent to me went "missing." Card envelopes were regularly opened. Delivery? For-fucking-get it. Did you know you were supposed to get THREE delivery slips? We never got more than one. Never. And one of those -- of course, for the most important certified mail I've ever had coming to me -- I found 3 days after it was "delivered," when we happened to be cleaning the street outside our apartment. It was in the gutter, squished in with trash and dog poo. (I put on latex gloves and brought it in to redeem it, natch.) In 4 years in that apartment, I only ever had 2 deliveries actually brought to my door. With one of them, the driver looked distraught that I was actually there and that he would have to lift a 10lb box rather than shove a pink slip in the mail slot. (He was filling out the pink attempted-delivery slip without having rung my doorbell, as per usual.) The other time, I had a pretty expensive order (Signature-Confirmation-Required!) abandoned on the sidewalk outside my door. Now, this was Williamsburg -- there are no stoops, no cute little gates, just front door-sidewalk. USPS left my stuff on the sidewalk (oh, and it was raining) where anyone could take it. Fortunately, I got it, but that was just dumb luck. Despite all of this loathesome service, I always smiled and tried to be nice to my mail carrier. (Because you should always try to befriend delivery people, wait staff and hairdressers.) For 2.5 years, he wouldn't even speak. I would say "Hi! How are you today?" and he'd grunt. Seriously. He grunted at me. This finally turned around one day when he came to the door with some of those brightly colored Very-Bad-News-Official-Mail letters for a neighbor, and he was all sunshine and lollipops after that. The dude was a sadist! . There was also one time when I went in and saw that they'd taped someone's forgotten out of state DL to the service window -- without obscuring her SSN!! That's COLD. The phone lines are horrible, to get through an automatic system which repeats itself and keeps saying, sorry I didn't get that, and after 10 minutes of wasting my time, waited another 30 min to get someone live on the line. We specifically called and requested a package to be held at the office, so we could pick it up the next day, and instead, they delivered into a mailbox whose owner is away on vacation and we have no access to it.
