In the passage of my professional travels, I needed access to a U.S. Postal Service station to drop-off a Christmas 2025 card. I am very grateful that post offices are still operational as it is functioning essential to daily routine tasks. With the rise of postal fraud and theft, I refuse to utilize an outdoor blue collection box. Upon entering this station contain a long line for counter service as it is the holiday season peak for package delivery. This is my first visit to Adelphi station in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn which I am unfamiliar and unknown of any "lobby drop-off" slots (a wall-mounted opening indoors inside the Postal Service station where customers deposit outgoing mail and packages). With disdain and utter disappointment, this Adelphi station does NOT contain any "lobby drop-off" built-in wall slot but one blue collection box mounted indoors inside adjacent to the entrance. There are no self-service kiosk for packages. There is no workstation table nor ledge counter for customers to hand write money orders payments and then stand on line for mailing or pack items in boxes after purchasing a box followed by standing in line for mailing. Oh! I do not believe this U.S. Postal Service station is a full-service since it lacks aforementioned services and/or possibly limited. I love writing printed letters and correspondence and receiving a printed letters for response. Pen, paper, envelope and first class postage stamp still exist. Still essential. Ahh, halcyon times. This Adelphi station in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn is accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington Street station. I dropped-off my Christmas 2025 card in this blue collection box for mailing in hopes of not being a victim of mail theft or fraud. I'd come to this location a few times in the past. And I thought it might just because it's a smaller location that the lines alone only when I had to actually mail a box from here. I learned that it has nothing to do with the size of the Post Office but the will of the employees. Don't get me wrong, they are nice folks, but overhearing long conversations in place, while all the clerks are supposedly looking for packages? Yeah no. It was a pure nightmare, 8 people in front of me in line and it took 45 minutes just to get to the window. I will take the extra trip to go to the main post office. read more

Place is run by people with a combined IQ of 40.. went there to retrieve a package myself because it was never delivered. The clerk told me it was there, but she didn't know where it was and she didn't want to look for it. I couldn't believe it. They also only have like one person working in the window, takes at least 30 minutes to be told that they can't help you with anything related to mail. With all the care packages I'm ORDERED to send I'm just thankful our post offices are still operational. Definitely essential. Staff though helpful is very curt. I get it. Covid and dealing with the public day in day out can be a bit much for anyone. With that said, they seem to be competent. At least I've had no worries with my transactions. There are five windows available but on each visit only two attendants dealing with us the public. Again, I'm not sure if this is also due to covid-19. I'm really wish there was a no star option. I got to this post office & 9:06am only to be met by a group of about 10 people waiting outside for them to open. After waiting another 10 minutes finally a woman comes to open the door. We file in create a line and then wait until 9:17 for the lights to be turned on and other 5 for someone to come to the window. When the post office goes private these unemployed folks will have no one to blame but themselves. The PO is one of the last places that largely employs minorities and the substandard service they're dishing out only perpetuates the negative stereotypes associated with minorities. They need a drop box for pre paid packages and mail. I cannot stand in 15-20 minute lines every time I have a prepaid package to drop.

I put a case with the USPS for my package that has been marked delivered on Tuesday but was not received. I was told someone from this office would reach out to me after they've investigated. After not hearing a response between 1-2 business days, I called the general USPS line which saw that the case had been closed by the office with a resolution to call them (mind you they were supposed to email me a response). The only email I had received was the initial contact email from Tammy Cumberbatch who works at the Adelphi office. The agent on the line reopened my case and escalated it to the district office. They also provided me with a number to the local office which is different than what is listed on Yelp. The number I was provided was 347-272-1938. I called multiple times and finally got through to someone at 9:29 am. I explained my situation and was immediately put on hold. After waiting for a half-hour, I was taken off hold to then be asked who I spoke to, I told the second office worker that the first office worker hadn't given me their name and that they put me on hold right after I explained. I was then rudely told that I have to wait till the person I originally spoke to gets back, while I tried to explain to them, but I was rudely interrupted with "Ma'am, Ma'am, Ma'am" and then told me you're gonna have to wait because "Uh, I have another customer I have to call". My thought was then "why did you pick up?" I asked them who I was speaking to only to be met again with another wave of "Ma'am, Ma'am, Ma'am". I told them this is ridiculous I have been placed on hold for a half-hour already. They then rudely began to say something along the lines of "it's not ridiculous and go make a complaint", meanwhile not providing me with any identifiable information as to who they were. They then said they would make an announcement for the person to answer the phone and quickly returned me to hold. I stayed on the line for about an additional hour and a half to have the same employee (the second worker) return without having heard any details of my case, saying that they were the ones who had reviewed my case, I asked them once again who they were and once again was cut down. I asked if they could see where the package was delivered to with the scanner and was told that "they don't do that", why would they do that, it was delivered". I then mentioned that they had delivered a package of mine to the wrong address before and another postal worker brought the package over. I was then told "well that was the past, we can't go back there, we talking about now" I kept trying to ask for details on how they had investigated the case, they kept cutting me off and changing the topic. I asked them if they were Tammy to which they quickly mumbled, "no Tammy's not...mumble". I was then asked questions about my building, like where are packages delivered "because it ain't door to door, we not doing that". I then proceeded to tell them, we have a mailroom with a camera. They then told me "well, have your building manager review the tapes 15 minutes before and after, you have to do the investigation, and if a postal worker entered the building then oh well your package was delivered and there is nothing that we can do". They then told me I would have to escalate it to the authorities and they would investigate for theft or I would need to reach out to the company for them to send me a new package. Side note: I did have my building manager review the tapes, he saw that two packages were delivered at 2:45 pm from the USPS none thereafter for the timeframe. When I had gone down to check for my package I saw the same two packages that had been delivered. At this point, I know the office did not do any investigation whatsoever. I also have reason to believe that my package was either 1) delivered to the wrong location 2) scanned ahead of time and then lost 3) taken by an employee (my tracking situation was beyond strange) My suggestion to anyone who might come across this is to never purchase anything that cannot be replaced or refunded and have it delivered through USPS you will be SOL. I would recommend going as far as only allowing your package to come through here if it is from a big company that can replace your item with ease. The postal staff knows that they can get away with doing a lackluster job. Of course, not every postal worker is rude or incompetent, but I wish I could say that the staff here were apart of the exception, but they clearly are not. read more

Terrible staff that provides little help and even before the COVID outbreak they were excessively rude. I understand funding for USPS is bad and their job entails dealing with difficult people every day, especially since COVID is happening and the holidays have everyone scrambling. But I work in retail and I too have to deal with antimaskers and holiday craziness, all while keeping cool and cordial with guests. But the dude behind the counter wouldn't even move his arm up from his seat to take my packages. He was very rude and insisted I place the packages right in front of him despite there being an entire window cubby I was supposed to use. I dont generally like USPS because they will often mark packages as delivered when they clearly aren't. I have no choice but to use them since they're affordable and nearby, but I seldom go into their buildings because I've never had a good experience with their staff. read more

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS LOCATION??? By far the worst post office--and I go to a ton since I ship a lot of items. The staff is: 1- SO SO SO SLOW 2- So rude. There's ALWAYS a line. And these are the things I can actually deal with. What I cannot deal with is the fact that lately, a lot of my packages that get sent through this post office has been delayed or "got lost". Getting lost once or twice, fine. But lately, I've had 4 packages I'm supposed to receive that never showed up. They just flat out lied about my package being there (said they couldn't find it) and MADE UP A FAKE TRACKING NUMBER FOR IT TO MAKE ME GO AWAY and then told me to "go home, why are you still here?" I came back telling them the tracking number isn't bringing anything up and I need to know where and when it was mailed. They came back with the package in 10 min. They also grumbled about me giving my student ID as identification even though it doesn't matter. I'm hoping I can help some people out by writing this review. I learned a few things from a recent experience that I thought would be worth passing on. I was trying to get a package delivered to my apartment and received a delivery notice. The mail carrier has a key to my front door and usually leaves packages inside the front door, so I wasn't sure why they couldn't this time. I was obviously trying to avoid going to pick it up at the post office, because I have to work and because of the reasons people stated. Long story short, I rescheduled two re-deliveries and both times the mail carrier refused to leave the package. I spoke to a guy on the 1-800 number who gave me some good advice: Instead of calling the number listed on this Yelp page, call this number: 718-398-7439 and ask to speak to a supervisor. I spoke to a very nice woman named Ms. Cooke. She said she would call me back, which she never did, but when I got home my package was there, so it's possible she worked some magic somehow. Also, instead of writing on this Yelp page, which won't do anything, write to the USPS. If many people file complaints against this station, the hope is that the people who are not doing their job will be fired and others will come in. I'm sure there are plenty of US Postal workers who would love the opportunity to live in New York. You can do this by going to USPS.com, click on Help, Contact Us, Email, No tracking number, problem, customer service, support, personnel, manager/supervisor, continue. I hope this helps some people in some way and perhaps if we all work together, we can see that this post office gets some appropriate complaints and the improvement that it needs. read more

Terrible customer service, steal packages and seriously do not care your stuff. I called the corporate number after calling this post office today. Create a case number, went into the post office and a worker who claimed to be a supervisor lied directly to my face not once or twice but three times. She also took my case number and closed it. Had to call back again to get a district manager involved via phone support (thank you HQ.) on top of that my normal delivery guys had to tell me the post office never contacted them and how their supervisor lied. 2nd the normal guys who deliver wasn't in, so a new person took the shift. The two normals even called their supervisor on speaker and the supervisor asked to be taken off of speaker because the package was stolen and how they can't tell how it was scanned. 3rd, corporate told me the package wasn't scanned it was keyed in. The local post office has refused to reach out to the driver who so called delivered the package. They've hung up on me, they've made me an hour before speaking to a supervisor who lies to you. read more

Horrible service. I had a passport appt. the one person who assigned to passports left early and blew off my appt. I made another appt. for the first thing the next business day. The person responsible left me waiting for 30 minutes. I waited on line for ANOTHER 30 min. When it was my turn to see the passport person, she left and took a break. After ANOTHER 15 min. she refused to help me claiming my appt. "wasn't on her list" despite the fact that I showed her my email confirmation. The attitude of these postal workers is abysmal. Legitimately awful. I'm pretty sure my package is lost and despite opening a case with usps where they were supposed to contact me they never did and closed the case saying "they never received my package". I'm glad I called usps daily for updates so I was able to realize what they did immediately and had the case re-opened. I don't think I'll ever receive my package but hopefully I will be able to put in a lost package claim so I can get the sender to re-ship the item that was supposed to come at no extra cost. I'm not sure why quality of service can't be a little better. I think that it can. My carrier consistently throws all of our (2 family) mail onto our vestibule floor beneath the stairs...rain, bugs, gross. I assume that this is to avoid climbing five stairs to the slot in our front door. Despite tipping well and a few polite clarifications, this continues to be the trend. It's sad to feel afraid that our mail will just not be delivered at all, but that's kind of where we are. In fact, once when I asked politely, I think the carrier tried shaming me. I have said terrible, well-deserved things about this place before -usually this place is only slightly better than Brevoort or the one up on Broadway and Gates- but I have to give credit where credit is due and today one of the ladies who worked here saved my BEHIND. It was 4:33 pm. She was working at window 2. She had on shades, clearly because her future is so bright. I'd been to three post offices and a shipping place looking for a regular (not flat rate) priority mail box that these boots I sold would fit into, and not one place had one. In fact, she informed me that this post office didn't have any regular Priority Mail boxes! But whereas every other USPS representative is spoken to that day just told me I was out of luck, sorry, she stepped away, came back with a plain cardboard box about the right size that looked like it had been used maybe once was was perfectly serviceable, put my stuff in the box and taped it all up for me before I knew what happened. Going postal was created after visiting this place. Consistently sloooooow. I wish they get paid by how many packages and people they service. Instead they get paid by the hour and drag out the day for everyone. Most of the time I just need to drop off a prepaid and labeled box ready to go but it would make way too much sense to set up a drop off station. phone number NEVER works. Sometimes delivery is not attempted at all, but you get a pink slip saying 'attempted delivery' even though no doorbell was rung. Packages tend to go missing here... retrieved only with multiple calls to the main 1800 # to try to find its whereabouts. Wow, I know Post Offices aren't world renown for their chipper customer service, but this place was ridiculous. I agree, this place can totally eat a dick. A thousand dicks. A sea of dicks. My package wasn't delivered even though I was home BOTH TIMES. The redelivery slip made it impossible for me to reschedule because it had the wrong tracking number on it. When I went to the branch, he told me to use the website to schedule a redelivery. When I asked for help figuring out what the number was so I could schedule a redelivery, he told me no. When I called later on to find out how to reschedule it, he got extremely rude with me, cursed and HUNG UP ON ME. All because I was asking how I am supposed to track and schedule redelivery without their help when I have no actual correct package number to do so. I've reported these people to the USPS. Aside of being a resident in the 'hood, I also do eBay stuff on occasion, which brings me to this place. I've lived all over the US and even NYC, and this place is the absolute worst. Every once in awhile, I see people in line acting up. Seems they're upset by some missing package or what-not, but the rep/cashier does nothing to placate the person. Sure, the customer is likely wrong for the outburst, but it's the lack of customer service that exacerbates the situation. My experience? No business can continue to exist if their proprietors talked to the customers the way that some here do. The lady with the googly eye always has an attitude, making up rules to make my life more difficult. I am a regular customer so why tell me this needs to be filled out when countless other eBay mailings didn't require it? It's an ego trip for her because she's miserable. And I can't fight back because it's the only post office that's local to me. Another one, a guy, was terribly rude to a guy wanting to ask a question about a box. Yes, the cashier was busy with another customer, but some grace could be exhibited by saying, "Sir, I'm busy with a customer - I'll help you in a moment." Instead, it was attitude and argument galore. So why the two stars instead of one? Because there are some nice people there, but ya gotta keep yer fingers crossed that the line will put you to their window. But they never have proper supplies. Never have the proper things to fill out. And, c'mon US Postal Service, why don't you install one of those machines that allow me to mail something without facing one of your employees? I'm a little scared to leave this update as this post office literally knows where I live and I'm afraid of them showing up at my door to hurt me. I'm going to say it straight out, though--I think that the employees of this branch are running a scam. (I don't think the supervisor is in on it, but it's possible.) They just straight lied to me about a package redelivery (again, a box that fits IN my mailbox, which I had no notices for) and I watched as they did a complicate misdirect when I went down to their office to collect my package directly from the supervisor. The punchline is that yes, I do have my package now, and yes, it was left in my mailbox. Back to the scam idea. Notice how every listing here is talking about how their packages aren't being delivered? This is just the people who are on Yelp. Imagine how many undelivered packages go missing from the Adelphi branch each year. What happens to those packages that no one picks up and are declared "lost"? I've written a strongly worded letter to the office of the postmaster general, calling for an audit of this branch. I think they are "losing" packages on purpose. Summary: ONLY have your packages sent through this station with Delivery Confirmation on them, at least. They won't even ATTEMPT to deliver it, but at least they'll tell you where/when to get it. THIS IS EXTORTION. All packages are important, all packages should get from Point A to Point B. You should not have to pay extra to ensure delivery. _______________________ Old review: THIS POST OFFICE SIMPLY DOESN'T DELIVER PACKAGES TO YOU. If they do deliver your package, say, after you make a federal case out of it at USPS customer care's hotline, they are SURLY about it. I'm not joking. This post office continues to struggle to provide professional service. Even though the ticket left on my door clearly stated my package would be available for pick up at the post office, it was not. Explanation given: we are short staffed so no one put the package on the shelf and we close at 1 PM. (It was 12:40pm). One would think that an organization that is fighting to remain relevant would do everything possible to provide effective service----not tell me no one was there to do the job and that the place will be closing in 20 minutes. I wish this was the first bad experience I've had at this post office, but no, it is not. 3/29/19 I went to pick up a package today. Hey, did you know I had a horrible experience at the USPS this morning? Shocker...looks like the rest of the neighborhood has also. My wife was out of town, so I went this morning to pick up her package: an eBay order of snow boots. I wake up intentionally early to beat the typically 30-minute long line for Saturday package pickup, and am the second person at the door before they open. 7:58. 7:59. 8:00am on the dot and the door unlocks. I immediately get to the counter and explain that while my wife is out of town, she is unable to pick up her package, so she left me with a note detailing her contact info, package #, name, and address. There was also no slip left in our mailbox. The USPS worker looks at me, and says the following "That's not a note. That's information. You need an ID" I pull out my ID, which since my wife and I are married and still cohabitating after all these years, has the same address as the package. "I need her ID. You can't pick it up without her ID." I explain that she is out of town, no slip was left, and so I was here to pick it up for her, my wife. "You need to contact Amazon or whomever to change that" I tell her that it's not from Amazon, it's from eBay. She then walks back to where the packages are, and returns a minute later saying "Nope, you need an ID" My wife, being the brilliant woman she is, texts me to go get her passport from our office. So i trek back home, get her passport and mine, then trek back to the USPS office. I go to a different window, and explain the same situation. "Well, we don't take notes. You have a tracking #." Why yes I do, because it's on the NOTE WITH INFORMATION ON IT. I also pull out my wife's passport, my passport, and my ID. And you know what, I GOT MY PACKAGE. FINALLY. This could have been avoided if they 1) brainstormed alternatives, 2) tried to be helpful, 3) not treat folks like they are enemies of the state for trying to pick up their spouse's snowboots, or 4) LEFT THE NOTICE IN OUR MAILBOX LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO! This place just has all the horrible elements you expect a badly operating post office to have. The delivery guys somehow always "miss" us even on days we were home and coming to collect packages is a nightmare. Long lines, staff that will take a slip and give the wrong packages to the wrong people, or even just not bring everything and claim they can't find it. And if you think that's bad, try sending mail with them. You can ask a simple question of, I want the quickest delivery with a tracking number, get ready for a long explanation on what isn't a mail service with a tracking number and then slips passed your way for you to fill out and go to the back of the line, only to find it had nothing to do with the service you need (we can thank miss Olivia for her marvels on that one) So.. If you can get your mail sent elsewhere, do so. If not, take a nice dose of Xanax and enjoy your visit. read more

Absolutely horrendous service. I've had several terrible experiences from different locations serviced in the area. In one case, they simply never bothered to attempt a delivery of my package (it was being tracked). They simply put it on a shelf for a day then sent it back to the state it was shipped from. Another case, I moved to a new apartment building and they simply did not deliver our mail! It's been 4 weeks now with nothing in the mailbox and I've been able to confirm at least 6 pieces of mail as MIA since it was recently my birthday and they were sent from family members. Next, they leave their phone off of the hook for hours at a time. Seriously, try to reach them! . The last two times I managed to get through was nearing the end of the business day. Someone lacking vocal chords (on a regular basis, this isn't strep throat or anything) rasped for me to call back before 11am. I tried for hours to get through with no luck, literally hitting redial for hours while sitting at my desk. This station is the absolute worst, and it really blows that such a nice fort greene/ clinton hill neighborhood filled with beautiful brownstones and a decent community is tossed aside to such a travesty in service. read more

Right after, the status online changed from "out for delivery" to "notice left". Again. Can't wait to stand in line for 42 minutes tomorrow to be barked at for not having the notice that "was left". It's Thursday night, and the total amount of times USPS has delivered our mail this week remains at 1. Completely missed mail deliveries for days on end seems to be a running theme here in 11238. In less than 2 years I have had no less than 5 packages go undelivered, with no notice left, only to get the runaround each and every time from whoever in god's name decides when they're good and ready to pick up the phone. The first incident occurred when I ordered an old Super Nintendo off eBay. I received an attempted delivery notification on my mailbox about 3 days after the scheduled delivery date. So I walk down to Adelphi--and wait in line for a period of time that makes Peter Jackson's "Ring" trilogy seem like a fall tv promo bumper--and viola, my package just so happens to be on the truck out for delivery. I had the day off, so i went home to wait. Nothing. No buzzer. No delivery slip. Nada. Another 3 days and surprise, surprise; it's still missing. I can almost hear Robert Stack setting up the narrative. Head back to Adelphi for the second time, nearly a week and a half after the first, and only, "attempted" delivery and 5 days after I'd last been in, and lo and behold, my package is sitting in back on a shelf where no one had bothered to look before. She said it had never even gone out for delivery a second time. To top it all off, the snark the woman behind the counter gave when I asked how to avoid this in the future was out of this world. A true masterpiece. So would I say this is the worst post office ever? Let me put it this way: a closed post office could do a better job than the incompetence displayed by the hack team at Adelphi Station. Post Master General, if you ever read Yelp reviews (I know you don't, but one can hope)... Please, please, please audit the $hitheap known as Adelphi Station. It's an embarrassment. And quite frankly I'm sick of my tax dollars going to support it. /rant read more

Oh... where to begin? Maybe with the 3 weeks worth of mail that just didn't get delivered to my building and was never recovered? Perhaps the fact that they said they were returning package to sender and then it sat in the back for a week? (Thankfully my mom called to see where the F it was when it was never returned to her) Or that they don't attempt to deliver my packages and lie in the tracking info and say they attempted delivery. Would it kill them to leave a pink slip that says to come and pick the package up at the post office? If I didn't check my tracking info I wouldn't have even known that my packages were anywhere near my vicinity. I thought USPS couldn't get worse than the Williamsburg Station, but Adelphi Station reaaaally takes the cake. read more
