Mail gets misplaced a lot. It's a shame. I am afraid to apply for citizenship knowing that some of the very important mail that I should receive might not make it and jeopardize my case. I noticed that whenever the regular mailman is off duty and someone fills in for him the mail gets completely screwed up on his route. Today it was a lucky day, as I was outside my building when the temp mailman came over and looked very confused about which envelope goes where. She put someone else's mail from 10 houses away in my mail. That wasn't junk mail it was a letter from a doctor that I returned to the original owner. I also noticed that the envelope I was waiting for was still in the mail cart and luckily asked her to give me the envelope (with very important documents). I think the temp workers need a lot more training. When I worked as a student mail carrier I was told Step 1) take a moment to read the names on the mailboxes and the envelopes you put in them Step 2) read the information one more time Step 3) make an informed and common sense decision that is not based on your paycheck...regardless of all the cuts USPS suffered you still have a job. Do it!!! It's putting mail in mail boxes not mining for coal. I propose that outside the postoffice to place a notice board where folks can write down if they received mail for another address or if they are still waiting for something. Please write to Postmaster General and complain about the lack of effort some (not all) of the employees of this post office display. read more

The post office said they attempted to make a delivery to my house and they also said they left a notice but I was home in front of my address all day having a yard sale so they out right lied and I want to find out who the driver was so I can put a formal complaint in against that driver. I will take this thru all levels of the postal service till I get results. They screwed with the wrong person this time. read more

Every single time I go to the Kensington Post Office I have a miserable experience. Tellers are either arguing with eachother or with the customers. Rude service, long lines, broken self service machine. Today the teller was on her cell phone while waiting on me. Gave no explanation of pricing or delivery time. Not even a thank you. This is THE WORST POST OFFICE I have ever stepped foot in. First off their mail carriers DO NOT even attempt to make a delivery. They simply place a notice in your mailbox basically forcing you to have to enter the hell that is the Kensington Post Office. The clerks are a bunch of poorly educated, rude bullies who intentionally treat you like shit and back each other up in the process. This is a DISGRACE and they don't care because they know its government operated and nothing will every be done to resolve it. PW Yee along with the rest of the clerks and employees should all receive INTENSIVE training and lessons in customer service. They have the worst service ever, thats why I don't do business with USPS. The employees have very bad attitudes in person and on the phone. Since they already got the position they don't care what service they provide. They should be reprimanded and in some cases fired. read more

Everything the reviews say is true. Horrendous wait times. Unfriendly service. Multiple times they have left a pink delivery slip at my door, despite there being 1)someone home 2)a door within a door so the package can be placed pretty securely 3)previous packages left there before, seems like there is selective delivery. I went online for re-delivery and the website said "mail cannot be redelivered to this address"...what? They wrote an incorrect tracking number on the slip. The worst of the worst, went to pick it up and they LOST IT. Didn't call me back after a couple days. The phone is never answered, (as explained to me by the USPS 1-800 representative: "we do not staff to answer calls"). She, in turn was trying to get me off the phone as fast as possible. Looks like I'm waiting for an out of state electronic troubleshooting system to solve my issue. Bet you I don't get it back. I'm out $50...or $100 since I will have to order my merchandise again...and then where will I ship it? read more

Since my husband lost his job, I started selling stuff on EBay ( after my 8 to 5 job), to help with the bills. It kills me to have to go to this post office every time I have to send a package(sometimes 3 times a week, Saturdays and evenings). Not only the wait time is always 1hr+ but once you get to the window, they treat you as the biggest nuisance and make sure that you know your place. Do not ask for boxes, do not ask for a tape or god forbid you don't have you own pen. Go back home, get one and come back! Make sure that your box passes rigorous shake test and that you use the tape that is USPS approved! Do as you are told and never, ever question them. If you are sending a box to the country that uses an alphabet other than Latin (e.g. Cyrillic ) prepare yourself for a long fight, they don't understand why the address has to be entered twice, one in English so they know what country to send it to and the other address in local alphabet so the postman know where to deliver it in Russia for example. This concept is not what they can comprehend. There is never more than two people working and one of them is especially rude. I will let somebody go before me so I can get an Asian lady since she is a little bit nicer. The other one has a customer skills of the drill sergeant. My husband lost his job due to the economy, I lost my job of 10 years and had to take a huge pay cut on my new job due to the economy. You see, these people don't have to worry about losing theirs, no matter how poorly they perform, they think they can't be fired, and I'm sure they get their raises and bonuses every year. This is our tax dollars at work! There has to be a way to bring a change. Didn't Obama say that "we can"! Are there any revolutionary types in Kensington? If Egyptians were able to get rid of Mubarak after 30 years, we should be able to get rid of this crew! USPS users of Kensington, unite against our postal oppressors! read more

One day when I was there a manager was going down the long line to help people, and I thought, "oh, I guess they've improved". But I was wrong. My next visit was to send something certified mail, return receipt requested. There were no forms to fill out at the desks, so I waited on line. When I finally got to the clerk, she handed me the forms, quickly said some directions and said to go fill them out. So I filled them out, went back and handed over the forms and my envelope to the same clerk. She then raised up her hands and started yelling at me. I was so flabbergasted I just looked and said, "what?" I had no idea what she was yelling about. Then she did it again, yelling, and I managed a puzzled, "I'm sorry, what are you saying?" And she pounded her fists down and answered, "This is just like it was before! I told you to attach the forms to the envelope!". (She hadn't.) I was so stunned I managed to mumble, "I'll know for next time." to which she replied, "Oh yes you will!" I try to avoid this post office like the plague. Oh, by the way, I never got the return receipt either. Thank goodness you can check delivery and signature on line now. read more

The people that go to this post office are generally idiots. Most can't speak English, never fill out the correct forms, scream at the tellers because they themselves are confused and have no idea what they are doing. Half the time they have a package pick-up slip with someone else's incomprehensible name on it, and also with an address they don't live at. Regulars have to endure these fools wasting everyone's time and listen to them go into a fit about 'customer service', like anyone working in there gives a rats a##. Honestly, the place is the pits, but the customers are a huge reason why it's so. Just avoid the ignorant and rude crowds of newbies and immigrants and you'll be in and out in no time. read more

The hours online are not the real hours and the post men leave notices with nothing on them leaving you to have to visit these biatches and go on a wild goose chase for your packages! Honestly, I read the reviews before I visited this P.O. and thought they were exaggerated. After my experience today, I can say they are definitely not exaggerated. I will avoid this p.o. like the plague. I had an appt. at 10:45 this morning. I was told the appt. was for 1 hr, being that I have 4 children. I had all the applications filled out, but was told I would have to rewrite them as they were unclear copies. Fine. I came back to the manager, Mr. Michael Scalise (who was handling the passport applications), with my applications filled out. He clearly sees we are standing there and waiting for him, yet calls people off the line and starts servicing other people, including people WHO JUST WALKED IN. Both my husband and I had to be present for the appt., since the children are minor. My husband had to go to work, so he politely pointed out to Mr. Scalise that we had an appt. The manager got all nasty and said it was our fault for not having the applications filled out properly. My husband pointed out that the applications do not have to be filled out before the appt. & since the appt. was for an hr. it was still in middle of our appt. He said the appt. was for 15 mts. and it was over. Well, they clearly told me the appt. was for an hr. What he failed to mention was that it is 15 mts. per application, and I was applying for 4 children. He rudely pushed the papers back to us through the window and said we should go make an appt. at another p.o. We insisted that that we want the applications processed as my 4 children were already missing school, and my husband gave up the morning for this. He looked at the application, and I left out one box. Instead of saying; "you left this out" , he said "and it's my fault that you left this out, you're blaming me for that also"? He then angrily told us to step aside and handed the applications to a clerk to process. How unprofessional and rude! I have filed a compaint with the USPS. btw the clerk who handled my application, forgot her name, something like Way was very professional and polite. 0 stars for this p.o. location. read more

We sent our wedding invitations out through this post office and people were receiving them in pieces. Many did not even get them . We had to call everyone on our list to see if they received them only to find out that many were tapped up, crumbled, soaking wet, or empty envelopes. It cost about 200 dollars for the post office to such a wonderful job. Thanks USPS, better off using an email invite before sending any email through this place. read more

Recent service has been really ridiculous! The mail carrier left "sorry we missed you" notices for 2 packages even though I was home!! They didn't even ring the bell!! I filled out the forms asking for delivery on a specific date and patiently waited on my front porch. The mail carrier comes by but no packages and he doesn't have a clue why the post office isn't following their own procedures. He says "he'll talk to the regular guy when he's back from vacation". I'm still waiting for 2 packages that Amazon tracking indicates arrived at the Kensington post office 2 weeks ago!! read more

I hope this is the worst post office in Brooklyn because if there are any worse than this, all is lost. I am temporarily disabled and thus ordering lots of stuff on line. The PO supposedly tried to deliver one package (supposedly 6:32 pm; I was home; I assume the deliverer just wanted to go home; no notice found). The seller used FedEx "SmartPost" where, apparently, FedEx brings the package to the local post office for delivery to the victim/buyer (me). The package goes from a reliable delivery company (FedEx) to the notoriously unreliable PO. No notice of attempted delivery was found. FedEx's tracking number told me of the alleged attempt. Next morning I called PO; seemingly nice lady said, we'll deliver Saturday (I had doctor's appointment Friday). Home all day Saturday, no delivery, called post office: no answer. Next nearly two weeks, post offfice doesn't answer phone. Finally called PO's 800-ASKUSPS, had to hit "0" over and over to get live person; eventually got a supervisor who had access to internal phone numbers at Kensington PO. Supervisor called Kensington in three-way call. She spoke to supervisor at Kensington who was snotty to the 800 lady; they began arguing; I interrupted, said it just some stinkin' books and explained the history. Snotty local supervisor said, ok we'll deliver Friday; home all day, no delivery. Saturday went to PO with my walker. Had to walk it home cause I can't carry walker and package up subway stairs. On the package there was no indication of the two promised deliveries. To make matters worse, another delivery with a phantom notice was made during this time, so that while I was retrieving the first package, the second package was laying in the post office unkown to me. I later found out about that sencond package by calling that seller. I had to go back to the Kensington PO to retrieve the second package and again walk home with the walker. I get medicine regularly by FedEx. I am so glad the Post Office has nothing to do with those deliveries. read more

This has been my post office for 7 years (I must have bad karma) and I've never once gone there and not seen a shouting match between a customer and staff or staff and staff. Today a manager was cursing like a sailor at another staff member within earshot of several children. Their carriers consistently leave salmon colored "Sorry We Missed You" notices even though they've not attempted delivery. I know because I work at home and get them all the time when no one has rung the doorbell or knocked. "Workers" (I use the term loosely) at the station are slow as molasses. When they have to retrieve a package from the back, they shuffle, never walk. Look in the back and you'll see packages strewn everywhere, seemingly haphazardly. The window staff are surly. They consistently say there is no manager in when you ask for one, until you insist, then one shows up (eventually). A sticker on all of the windows says something like "Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction." More like 0%. Several times I've taken the white unused portions of sheets of stamps and covered up the "10" on those signs so they then indeed say "Our goal is 0% customer satisfaction." I think customers deserve fair warning. Save your money: Instead of paying for a film, just stop in anytime and enjoy the show. Just don't go there for business, though, because then it's anything but enjoyable. read more

Even though I am much closer to the Van Brunt and Prospect Park West (my favorite by far) locations, I have the misfortune to have this post office in charge of my mail. I have been unable to contact anyone to address a delivery issue. I have a phone number but they never answer or they disconnect you. I am at Propect Park SW and apparently there has been a replacement of my regular mail man, who is excellent, his name is Anthony. I hope it is not for good. A letter belonging to a business in Ocean Parkway was left in my mailbox yesterday. I guess after realizing that he or she forgot to drop it at the right address it was easier to stick it in someone else's mail box even if it was far and a private household. Today I taped it outside of the mail box with a note to take it back and deliver to the right address. Instead of doing that, the mail person left the note at my mailbox and put my mail inside another mail box. It is unfortunate that behavior like this makes people been unsympathetic to the financial situation USPS is experiencing. read more

This is possibly the worst post office I have ever been to. The people working there take forever to to do their job. On top of that, they have nasty attitudes. I must say there is one woman who often comes out from the back, she goes to the line and assists people if they need help. She'll even take you off of the line and take you to the machine and mail your package, get stamps, etc. (Only if you are using a Credit or Debit card, the machine does not except cash.) There is also a gentleman that works one of the windows, nice guy, nice disposition. Otherwise the place sucks, and it has nothing to do with most of the people who work there being African American (I notice a couple of posts referring to this being the reason for the bad service and attitudes. That's preposterous, bad service is bad service period. It has nothing to do with the color of a person's skin. There are rude people of all colors, shapes, and sizes!!!!!) Also, the Mailman who delivers the mail to my building will not deliver a package to your door, he just leaves them in the lobby by the mailboxes! In the near past I have checked the tracking on a package after the said delivery time has passed to find out it says the package has been delivered to my door when no one had even been to my door the whole day! I went downstairs and found my package in the lobby. The building doesn't have a doorman, just a lock to the front door. Good thing I have some pretty good neighbors. read more

Never in my life have I experienced a Post Office this bad, and that is an UNDERSTATEMENT because they all tend to operate from a subpar customer service standard. My sentiments echo that of every other complaint. I work from home, so I am HOME all day every day for the most part, especially during standard delivery hours. Me typing this comes after me attempting to reach them (what was I thinking) because they delivered a pink slip for a package they never actually tried to deliver. I was stupid enough to think I could get it redelivered...FAIL. These assholes returned my package to the sender because they were allegedly unable to send it to me, and now I'm doing the run around dance to get my stuff. The USPS customer service line on the slip keeps telling me to call the post office directly and of course, they're not picking up...actually it appears to be a fax line. Thanks for nothing. Yelp makes you rate every business but if I could, I wouldn't even rate this piece of shit place with half a star. read more
