I went in to hear loud talking amongst the workers and went to my PO box. I had a delivery to pick up, so went to the lobby to get it. I was behind a frail, older woman who looked somewhat annoyed, and I took it she'd been waiting a while. When she went to the window she asked for a couple change of address cards. The lady gave her one and she asked for another. Denied. I was next and asked for the same. Alice (the worker) asked if it was for me. I said it was. She held onto it and then snatched it away. She went to retrieve my package and was loudly talking about our exchange to her coworkers. She slung the package at me and I asked for her name. She said "Alice. And write it down if I can't remember it." This is my second unpleasant experience with Alice. The last time she said I needed tape on my package I was mailing for my mother. Some was sitting on the next window and when I asked if I could use it, she said that it would be a $18 or $20+ charge (I was mailing it for $8). That seems like extorsion. Alice is not happy working in the public. She gives that entire Post Office a bad name. read more

I hate usps with a firey burning passion. They are the absolute worst. I have an important package that ive been denied access to for two days now because the driver keeps coming to my house and leaving missed delivery notes on my door. Ive tried to have them deliver it without a signature but theres no way and I cant just skip work for a package delivery!! My mother was home today when the attempted delivery happened but she heard no knocking. I left notes on my redelivery request online, a special service request (that didnt go through) and I put a note on my door for them to leave it. I dont have time to get over there after I get off of work and stand around waiting because the service is so awful. We also have a mail hub at my complex that Amazon and literally EVERY other delivery service has no problem using. Nobody has time to waste on this kind of stupid outdated delivery system. read more

This place is absolutely atrocious, the people working here hate their job that it shows so noticeably in their personalities. I went to purchase stamps, waited on a 5 person line for about 30 mins (which is ridiculous on its own). I was told they only have the stamps available in their cabinet, and of course they didn't have the stamps I needed in their cabinet. Just rude attitude and remarks that are not necessary. read more

ZERO STARS. Absolutely the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. This is my first ever review...it was that bad. I think the lady that works there, forgot that she was there to help people. I have never in my life been spoken to like that for just asking for a help from someone AT THEIR JOB. I will NEVER go there again. I received a notification that I had certified mail that I missed for delivery. I used the USPS link to schedule it for me to pick it up at this location. I was trying to show her my confirmation email that CAME FROM THE USPS and she proceeded to yell at me for not bringing in a pink slip (that I never saw) and told me that phones have ruined people. And to come back when I have the pink slip. I didn't go to the post office for a lecture. I was also going to ask for help on purchasing a flat rate envelope but god forbid I ask her for any further help. I left and rescheduled my mail to be delivered to my house. Which I don't need a pink slip for, she was just being a b**** because she could. Meanwhile this is a very important piece of mail that I'm now going to wait for longer just so I don't have to deal with that miserable person. Please replace the staff with people that will help people, because the current staff is lazy and ungrateful for having a job unlike other people. Just needed 2 stamps so thought it would be a quick trip in and out. Well I was wrong! The stamp machine had a sign on it saying "no stamps", so I went into the main area to purchase them from the counter. There was one person working! I would put 0 stars if I could! By far the WORST post office experience. I should have known to leave when the two ladies working were beyond rude to every customer prior to me. The lady helping me was Alice. I say helping loosely. She didn't care to help or answer any questions. She was disrespectful and rude. If you ask any question at all .. mine was "what's the cheapest way to ship that" she will just keep repeating herself to get you to shut up. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. If you need help, ask for someone else other than Alice. She's rude and will not work with you. Very nasty attitude and will make customers VERY uncomfortable. I had a package sitting there for a week snd I been there twice. The first time she ran me away second time I had proof of my package being there, still tried to turn me away but I got help from another lady instead who brought my package out with no issues. It is very simple here at this US Post Office location on Sycamore in West Ashley, be patient and courteous to the postal workers and they will reciprocate. I have been coming here for years since my Business is less than a mile away. Dave at the counter is very easy going and extremely helpful. Sometimes there is only one postal worker handling the customers, so be patient and understanding. A positive and courteous attitude will go a long way with the staff. Hence my 3 star rating due to the long waits periodically. read more

They will never deliver the packages you order from Amazon. Whoever is delivering packages for the west Ashley area needs to be fired immediately. They're unfit for the job. Amazon partnered with USPS, so yes, when we pay Amazon for delivery, we pay USPS as well. There is a duty to deliver and they are failing at it. read more

I have been here many times over the years and they have made every postal transaction easy and quick. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable. I go to this post office since it is near to my home, but I don't usually have a great experience there. The staff is not friendly or especially helpful and the lines are very long. For instance, I typically use the self-service machine in the lobby as it is easier and faster than waiting in line. I had to mail a key to someone and put it in a normal letter envelope. I figured it would need more than one stamp so I decided to just weight it, and sent it off with the printed out $.70 barcode on it. A few days later I get it back in my mailbox with "insufficient postage", so I drove back and talked to someone in the counter. After waiting in a long line, I finally got up to the counter and asked why it had been sent back- she said it needed $3.80 in postage since it contained an object and suggested I had tried to game the system. I really needed this key mailed, so I agreed to pay it, but really, $4.50 total for an envelope with a single key inside it? All I did was follow their machine's instructions. Another instance- a few years ago I ordered a decorative box from Etsy, and it turned out that the seller was in Egypt, so the package had some Arabic writing on it. Instead of leaving it at my door as usual, I had to go pick it up, provide my ID to be photocopied, and face questions from the branch manager about the origins of the package and my "connections abroad." It was super weird, and I've ordered things from other countries before with no problems. I have not been able to find out whether this is standard. I keep going here, but I'm largely annoyed with it most of the time. Go to a different branch if you can. read more

Maybe it's me but I visited this post office and had no issues. I am there to get a package posted and get out the door. I guess I chose a good day. It was not crowded. I don't live in the area but stopped as I was passing through on my way home and it all worked out. I tend to say hello and pleasantly deal with people. I was greeted kindly and cheerful and had no problems completing the task at hand. Sometimes you get what you project. Just saying! There is a post (in Next Door Digest) which has been running over the last 36 hours or so in regards to this USPS location. There have been 169 posts - mostly expressing disappointment about the quality of their "front line" workers. These 2 women are a poor representatives of West Ashley friendliness. They often yell, demean, and embarrass customers. They are not helpful and have a real "chip on their shoulder." This has been going on for many years & I will drive out of my way to go to another location or use the machine in the lobby. I don't want anyone fired, but perhaps their talents lie elsewhere - - maybe sorting mail in the back or mopping the floors. I know it is hard to lose a government job, but with their attitudes they would not last 5 minutes in a private sector or self-employment & certainly NOT for the pay rates they are given. Shipping stuff "out" is no problem. Getting your own mail is another matter completely. I have not received three packages in the five years I have lived in this zip. Total $133.00+ When I bring the "package delivered" copy to the counter they "yes, it was scanned at this location." Sure. Just NOT put in *my* mailbox. One can file a "Where is my package?" on USPS.com but that goes into the spam folder i guess. Since I complained about last non-delivered package, I have not received *any* mail at all! So incredibly rude. The woman that worked there basically yelled at me when I asked her a question while she was weighing my package to "LET HER FINISH". I needed to make one small change and then she told me to get out of the line. I said I o my needed to make a small change and she screamed "GET OUTTA THE LINE AMD COME BACK WHRN YOURE FINISHED". Ok this is the post office located in West Ashley. Right off the top the 3 stars is for parking, there isnt any! During holidays or even after work if you are in the area and just want to mail something go ahead and park across the street! That being said, it is a small post office and they have all the amenities you would think they have. I haven't had the same problems with the folks working there that others have had, It must be my award winning personality! So folks if you need a post office and you live over there go to james Island, its bigger and quicker! read more

I recently made an order on Amazon and used the Prime shipping option (2 days). I ordered multiple items and those 2 days had passed. I arrived home on the 3rd day and had a note on the door from UPS. I went online to check the status of the delivery and it said it was transferred to my local post office. I found this strange.... In the year and a half I have lived in this apartment packages via UPS and USPS are both transferred to my management office if I am not at home. Being that I work full time I rely on this service. As far as I knew this was standard practice. I called this post office location to verify my package was there before going to retrieve it. The woman on the phone was very curt. I explained to her that I didn't understand why the item was not left at the management office. She explained that they will no longer be offering that courtesy to the customers at my apartment complex. She explained that too many customers were complaining. I asked why we weren't notified and she had no response. I decided it was time to make a visit to the office directly to retrieve my package and speak with the manager. Upon entering the office I waited in a very long line and asked to speak with the manager. After waiting another 15 minutes he came out. I asked if we could speak somewhere more private as not to share my personal experience with the entire office. He and I stepped outside and I asked him for some insight as to their recent change in practices. I explained that I understand that they had many complaints but asked why the apartment complex was not notified before they made the change so we could plan accordingly. He had no reply; he had a smug look on his face the entire time. He didn't care about my complaint and was not willing to rectify the situation at all. RUDE! I use this post office often because it is down from my house and every time I walk up to the desk it is as if I am an inconvenience to the person working. They are rude. They should realize they are in the CUSTOMER SERVICE business and a poor attitude is not acceptable. The only time I do have a good experience is when I get help from the older gentleman, otherwise all the women that work there are just rude.
