BEWARE - Multiple Packages Missing & Poor Accountability I am extremely disappointed with the USPS location in Mount Pleasant (Johnnie Dodds Blvd). I currently have three packages missing, with a fourth only recently recovered under concerning circumstances. All four packages were shipped from different retailers, in separate boxes, and each shows as delivered by FedEx to this USPS facility days prior. One package was even signed for by a USPS employee (S. Tracy). Despite this, there was no yellow or colored pickup slip placed in my P.O. Box indicating that packages were available at the counter, which is standard procedure. When we spoke with a front desk employee named Martin, he repeatedly stated that because the packages originated with FedEx, USPS could not track them. This explanation is inaccurate, as FedEx tracking clearly shows delivery to this USPS location. The issue is not FedEx tracking--it is what happened to the packages after USPS took possession of them. We were told that the supervisor responsible for package organization, TJ, was on "break" and unavailable. This was especially frustrating given that a month ago, TJ made a comment to us stating, "we get too many packages," despite the fact that we pay for a P.O. Box at this location specifically for secure mail handling. On 12/10/25, while filling out the missing mail form, we were informed that a formal investigation had been opened. We were told that we would hear from a manager or supervisor no later than Tuesday, 12/16/2025. As of now, we are still waiting for that follow-up. On 12/12/25, Martin contacted us to say that one package had been "found" only because a good Samaritan turned it in, explaining that USPS employees had placed it in the wrong P.O. Box. There is no excuse for multiple packages to go missing at once--especially within a government-operated facility. The lack of accountability, dismissive explanations, and concerning remarks from management raise serious questions about how packages are being handled at this location. I strongly encourage anyone using this post office to closely monitor tracking information and document all interactions. Until these issues are properly addressed, I cannot recommend trusting this location with important or time-sensitive mail. Proceed with caution. read more

Telephone customer service is less than acceptable. PO workers cannot explain why it takes 10 days for a simple birthday card to go from MP to Greenville, SC or a major city in NC. Nor can they tell me why certain newspapers and magazines aren't being delivered to my home address. This is not the postal service I've always counted on. read more

I just got told my box shows hazardous material because it has a diamond shape for a hat company so she can't ship it even though the old shipping label was shipped by USPS in the same exact box. The surrounding post offices are efficient and courteous while this one is always backed up and usually taking passport applications while a long line of people wait. While this is going on they will not communicate with customers to let them know that no one is available for packages; they just ignore the line and continue to work on passports - calling those people out of turn. Simple communication could solve this problem, as folks would know how long it will be before an associate is available. They are always understaffed, inexperienced and unhelpful. Every person working behind the counter has been really nice to me and helpful whenever I have come in to send a package. I have never had to wait longer than 5-10 minutes for help. This location has a sizable parking lot and I have never had trouble getting a spot. read more

The service was so horrible and the individual, DJ handling this was so rude and spoke to me so unprofessionally. If I conducted myself at my company in this way I would certainly be terminated. I would give this post office 0 stars if possible. DJ Moore who works the passport office on Saturday's has some serious issues. He was yelling at my 3 year old child. He was on a power trip from the get go and very aggressive to the point that I had to confront him to stop his behavior. It was unreal when I told him to relax and he stood up yelling his name and saying he runs this place (thats how I know his last name). Horrible service!! I called to ask how I can change my address for informed delivery and the person who answered said they have no clue how to do it. Said she didn't know who to contact. Said they don't have that service in Mount Pleasant which is odd because I have had it for years. She was just plain clueless! Just called the E Bay post office. I received excellent customer service from the gentleman that answered the phone. He explained I would have to stop by any location. That the USPS does have informed delivery and I could come to any location and they could help me. The rudest man was so unhelpful, passive aggressive and unwilling to help us with our change of address. The government needs to be out of the postal industry altogether. We did a change of address form with him a couple of months back. We were then sent a letter, it instructed to go in and show proof of identity. Today, he stated the letter we were sent was useless to him as there was not a bar code. He couldn't use the form (no other letter was sent). He wouldn't problem solve the situation. No common sense was used or seemed available to him. He led the conversation around the fact they had no forms in the office to start the process over. He seemed to actually take pleasure in his manor and arrogance. He must be a very unhappy person to treat people so unkindly. I went online and was charged a fee to process the request. It is no wonder the postal service failing. The free market needs to be involved; not the government. If so this situation from start to finish would have been efficient and done with the customer in mind. read more

Who actually 'wants' to go to the post office? Isn't it always, "I 'need' to go to the post office," ... or, "Crap, I 'have' to go to the post office?" Well, if you have to make that stop ... and you're near the intersection of Johnnie Dodds and Anna Knapp ... you've lucked out. First and foremost, there's plenty of parking and the spaces are wide. Once inside, you'll immediately notice that the lobby is well lite, clean and large. The racks holding receipts, padded envelopes, etc. are always stocked. There are always at least 4 associates stationed at the counter which helps keep the line (sometimes, it is very long), moving. And better yet, each associate is efficient, friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to saving me money on a postal service that I really didn't need. As an added plus, this location has a great selection of greeting cards which works really well for me since the Hallmark store closed. read more

The United States Postal Office in Mount Pleasant is one of my favorite post office locations in the Charleston area. They are very efficient and effective when you need to take care of some mail needs. The staff here is very helpful and accommodating at making sure everything is taken care of. If there were no cars in the parking lot, I would have thought this building was abandoned. The outside is pretty rough... Inside isn't much better. My family and I made an appointment to get our passports processed at this branch. If you're looking for the same, I'd try elsewhere. The employee helping us, DJ, was extremely unfriendly. You get to stand awkwardly by his desk (in a filthy office) while he shuffles through your papers and makes his demands. Maybe bring your own clip board so you can have something to write on when he demands you fill in a box or two. Believe me, there is absolutely no place to set the paper down to fill anything out in his office. Hands down the most unfriendly & awkward process I've been through in years. Their self-service kiosk has been out of service for weeks now (specifically, the option to print a shipping label using a QR code), aka the only saving grace that saves my day from having to have a personal interaction with the terrible employees with THE WORST ATTITUDE! I even made a point of calling this branch to ask if their kiosk has finally been repaired and this disgusting woman answered, "the kiosk is working", so I asked specifically if the QR code service has been repaired, to which she yelled in the phone, "MAAAAAM, I just said the kiosk is working"‍Wow! as a customer service professional with over 10 years of experience in customer service finance field, I can confidently say that I'd get written up and maybe even fired if I had a nerve to talk to my customers using THAT rude tone and to not be helpful but at all! So of course this terrible woman on the phone didn't even bother to check if QR code was actually working and I went all the way to this branch to find out that of course the QR code option is STILL out of service Had to stand in line and asked this other female clerk if she had an ETA on repairing the kiosk, and she simply said, "NO"! Not "sorry, I don't", "we do not, we apologize for the inconvenience", nope ... just a NO ‍I feel like i ate trash today while "interacting" with these people today! Don't depend on the post office to pick up your packages. Scheduled a pick up, got confirmation it was to be picked up. By 9PM it was still not picked up. At 10:30PM get a CONFIRMATION email it had been picked up. Package was still on porch this morning. Sadly this is not the first time this has happened. This is definitely the busiest post office around the area and there always seems to be a line. Unless I'm picking something up, I tend to go to the one in the Ace Hardware store near 41. They can do everything you need for mailing out without the high cost of the 3rd party postal stores. One thing I can say is that the staff is always courteous and patient. last time they event had someone in the line asking questions to make sure people had the right materials for their shipping needs. It seems like doing this on a regular basis would cut down on most holdups at the counter. read more

I have had terrible customer service. I have waited over 15 minutes for them to open after the time they are scheduled to ope. They were not ready (computer not up) when they did open. Most recently I have a very important certified letter that they have lost. I have called several times they said they would call me back. I have never received a call back. When I trued you call them they are not answering. Either they are just not answering or they recognize my number and will not respond. Fortunately, they have one of the automated post machines here that can weigh your package and help you purchase the right amount of postage. After 20 years of dealing with this branch of the usps, I could not be happier to finally close my PO Box. When I started using this branch all mail was out by 9:00am if not earlier without fail. As time went on, the sign changed to "all Mail out by 9:30" and then changed to 10:00 and then the sign stopped changing but the delays continued. Doesn't sound like a big deal to most individuals but businesses waiting on checks and trying to conduct business at this branch are truly in bad position. The employees(not all but most) are truly mentally challenged and possibly the laziest humans on the planet. Good to see our federal gov't is taking care of and providing jobs for such challenged individuals. Not so much the business in the area but who cares about them....right. As the holiday season approaches and I am forced to watch these usps commercials telling me what great service they provide. I have to take issue. No worthwhile management, no accountability and no one cares at this branch. I would recommend using sullivans island, isle of palms or the downtown branch on east bay st. We have now had 3 packages in two weeks left in our locked parcel box with no key to retrieve them. The 1-800 number says the post office responds in 24 hours which this post office does not. I understand that people make mistakes but if you make 3 mistakes in two weeks, at least have the decency to fix the problem. We still have not received our packages or been called back. read more

I got a package on December 5th from someone, and I check mail weekly. So I didn't see the orange key (that's for boxes for packages). Then I get the last-minute notice that I'm supposed to pick something up and it was sent back!! They didn't even leave me a key!!! This office operates on it's own set of rules. You might pay $50+ for a premium delivery service, but they will treat your mail like it is a $0.30 piece of junk mail. Don't expect their lazy carriers to knock on a door, or ring a doorbell. It's not in their job description. Ask their Supervisor if you don't believe me.
