I've had bad experiences at many USPS offices, which makes me reluctant to go into them. However, it's a necessity since I've started selling online. This is one of the few I've had a good experience at, and it's right across from my college. It's easy to walk to and the employees have been nice, but usually don't talk much or aren't very expressive. They usually stare at you instead of telling you their lane is open for you to walk to. That's fine. The one thing that confuses me is how every USPS seems to operate diffferently. Some only scan barcodes at the counter, others only accept drop offs after you do it yourself at the kiosk, and some do both. At this one, you use the kiosk. There's only one, so it can be up to a 15-20 minute wait for other people to go through the long process of printing one (or many) label instead of having it done in two minutes at the counter. This feels lazy, but maybe that's just me. The employees only interact with you if you're buying a box or stamps or have a question. Other than that, they wave you away to the kiosk and have a piece of paper taped up for you to drop off a package and leave. For some, this is nice and simple without human interaction. But, if there's a line at the kiosk, why can't I go to the counter? It's confusing. read more

We drop our mail/checks in the post office box inside the post office and still had our checks stolen..... these checks were mailed from two different days, 2 weeks apart.... read more

The postal employee was rude to a hearing impaired customer and to me when I asked for assistance generating a tracking receipt. Hard to understand the absence of basic courtesy and accountability for bad behavior. read more

It's constantly closed on days it should be open .. or it closed hours earlier then supposed to. Also when I drop off a package it'll take days before it gets scanned in and shipped. read more

I'm convinced a lot of you are actually coming off as rude/being outright rude when you go there in the first place. I shipped something for the first time thru the USPS, and although the location could use a bit of work in actually restocking their packaging supplies, it went relatively well. The lady I worked with dealt with my screw-ups in the process (her name starts with a D?) & she helped me to package & ship it so hopefully I'll be better at it the next time around. I have been PO Box customer for 20 years at this location. Up until two years ago the service was good. In the last two years, especially the last year, service has deteriorated to the point where I will be closing my box. For starters, the only mail that gets put in my box is junk mail and my Crain's subscription. Like the previous review I have had several check mailed to me that I never received. Any letters of importance, including letters from the IRS are not getting delivered. The staff is rude and will not go in the back office to look for undelivered mail which from previous history I know is there. The last time an employee went back to check, he brought out about five letters that were postmarked a month ago. The main culprit and rudest, is the lady who transferred from St Louis. She is argumentative when I tell her that I'm not receiving mail. She will not go back and check. Another is issue is the location is a hangout for Panhandlers, one who is almost always in the actual Post Office facility when I stop to check my box. The USPS employees encourage one of them to hang out in the facility. The last time I complained the panhandler walked up and made a feeble attempt to intimidate me. And this is how the facility is managed. Last, and I see this complaint in previous reviews, they close the facility whenever they feel like it. Many times I arrive 30 minutes to an hour before schedule closing time, only to find the facility closed. I also filed a criminal complaint with the USPS Inspection service about the above issues and never got a reply. Avoid this USPS Facility at all cost. read more

Great service. Very friendly. Helped with overnighting something and instructing how to do it. Have had normally bad or sub-par experiences at the USPS locations around the city. I recommend this one highly- they also have plenty of agents working the desk so short wait times. read more

Unless you really need human help, I suggest the self-help kiosk that is right near the door. Even thought there are so many options now for shipping, places to buy stamps for snail mail, and ways to pay bills electronically, I still want to support the USPS. Why? Because I have family member show work for the post office. That being said, this location is hit or miss. I really wanted to be able to give 3 or maybe even 4 stars, but the clerks at the desk just don't care. They don't care how long any one has to wait in line, nor how many people are in line. They will move at the same pace regardless. They will also give you attitude and speak to you in a demeaning manner just because they can. This is not okay. I've been to other locations where the service is nice. Unfortunately this is the location that is nearest to my home. read more

I've come to this post office for a bunch of annoying things (like shipping internationally and getting money orders) and the post officers here have always been friendly, helpful, professional, and patient with everything I needed. Sure, sometimes they don't have stamps and stuff but I think they've been great and I want to give them a shout out! read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Go to ANY other USPS please. If you need to get anything done, the workers here are completely useless. They refuse to take packages at the window because they're extremely lazy and love getting paid to sit and do nothing. They talk among themselves like no one is there waiting to ship a package. I had a prepaid label and wanted a receipt to prove I had shipped it out. Both of the useless lazy women refused to take my package at all and said to use the self serve machine. Why? No one else was in the post office. It was completely empty. I asked them why they wouldn't just scan it for me if they usually just scan it for me at other USPS. They literally told me, "then go over there then." I used the self serve machine which is ALWAYS malfunctioning or doing something weird and got my receipt. I dropped off the box and it STILL HASNT BEEN SCANNED AS SHIPPED AND I SENT IT OUT A WEEK AGO!!!! They're unnecessary rude just to continue to do the least amount of work possible. If you want to get the worst possible service you ever had in your life go here then. The older woman here has clearly worked here for YEARS so I can't even imagine the amount of people she's inconvenienced. I noticed her extremely rude demeanor a few months ago (the last time I had to ship out a package) but gave her the benefit of the doubt because people can be very rude to workers and USPS is always busy. Went in today to mail some boxes at 3:45 pm and there was a "Clerk on lunch" sign. I waited for over one hour (til 4:50) for someone to show. During my hour waiting about 20 people came in and out or joined the line to wait. Seems far too busy a time for lunch break. Not to mention I was shipping 3 heavy boxes so I had to Uber to and from my apartment. Waste of time and money. It would at least be nice for there to be a return time on the sign so people would know whether or not to wait. read more

Zero stars. Horrible service. Close early the week before Christmas. Door guarded by a seemingly homeless man. When asked why they are closed at 5pm when it says 6:30pm on the door, the federal worker whose salary we pay with our taxes screams at me that her union lets her close if she's the only worker in the office. I'd rather pay more money to get service at a real business like UPS. I shouldn't be surprised but it's pathetic. Judging from the other reviews, this is a recurrent pattern. read more

As a post office, one would expect them to have stamps as one of the primary products sold there. I have gone to this location and found them out of stamps on multiple occasions. Most recently they were out of standard domestic stamps, international stamps and one cent stamps (required given recent price increase). You would think they would post a sign saying they were out if stamps, but instead I waited in line for 10 minutes (standard minimum wait at this location). Also went here to submit a passport application which the postal worker messed up which delayed processing by the dept of state. Only redeeming quality is the automated kiosk. read more

This facility and its employees do not follow proper hours operation. This is the third time in three weeks where they have closed SIGNIFICANTLY early and before they are supposed to. I arrived today - April 21, 2020 at 6:05pm. The entire store was closed down and locked up. Hours listed on the website display 630pm closing time. Terrible customer service. Other neighborhood residents have also questioned their hours. The attendants claim there was "an emergency" and they needed to close early. This is happening far too often! read more

This location is by far the worst USPS experience I have ever had. I purchased a $40 item online and paid for Priority shipping (1-3 days). The seller provided a receipt of proof dropping off this package at this post office from an entire week ago (Friday November 3). Since then, I have not received the package nor have seen any scans or transit updates when checking the tracking number. I have tried calling the phone number of this location several times, to which they never answer and the line disconnects after a couple minutes. I have put in multiple service requests, each time I am greeted with the typical automated robot response and nothing happens whatsoever. They do not care about their customers or recipients. Extremely unprofessional service quality and their ignorance is truly appalling. My assumption is that my Priority $40 package is sitting in a bin in their office, and none of the employees could be bothered to collect or check for the item after a full 7 days. So disappointed, truly disheartening after many years of sending and receiving packages using the USPS. read more

The postal agent spent the entire time I was there berating the people in Lincoln Park who use this location - she said we are all "rude, horrible people" and this location "can't close soon enough ". Based on the horrendously bad customer service, I agree that they can't close all post office locations soon enough and fire all postal employees. I will be using UPS to mail packages going forward. It's really a zero. You can expect rude and disinterested behavior here - but today was unbelievable and I walked back out with my package because I have to assume the clerk was going to throw it away and not mail it based on the interaction. I was the only one in line at 9:05 just after they opened, standing at the "wait here" sign. There was one clerk, in no uniform at all, but sitting behind the counter and talking. No one else was around for her to talk to. I was looking at the clerk waiting for a sign it was my turn to approach. When she motioned me over, she said "What's your problem?' really rudely and I said, "Nothing, I want to mail this first class." She replied with, "then why are you looking at me?" and I said, "I was trying to figure out when you were ready for me." I then moved closer to the card reader, getting ready to pay, and the clerk is talking again, so I move to the side of the plexi - I'm still standing behind the counter - and say, "sorry, are you talking to me?" and the clerk replies, "If I were talking to you I'd be looking at you. You don't like it, go use the kiosk." So I said, "Okay, I'll take my package, please". At which point she hands it back and starts complaining to the person she's talking to - on bluetooth in her ear. The only other customer looks at me surprised and confused. I"m used to this location being understaffed and rude - but this was way beyond the normal crappy service - it was abusive. read more

I went in the Post Office at 2425 N Sheffield Ave today. I have to say I was a little scared lol after seeing all the bad reviews at the local Post Offices. Crystal waited on my daughter and I (we were mailing a package) we asked to see Halloween stamps. She was very patient and kind to us, and also to the 4 customers ahead of us. She was on the window all by her self and said she had been there alone all day. When we left, the line was almost out the door. The Post Office is going through a trying time, and we need to have some compassion for the employees. The holidays are coming up and we all know the struggle this time of year brings them, even without a pandemic. Anyway, thank you Crystal. I came to this usps Saturday March 26th, 2022 at 11:30am. There were 3 women working with no customers at all, I was the only customer at that moment. I had a package to drop of but I needed a receipt, they were talking to each other and chilling, they told me I had to go to the machine to do it, they couldn't help me (like I said I was the only client over there at that moment) I went to the machine and the code wasn't scanning, I didn't know how to use that "machine" so I asked for help and they refused to get out of the chair and come help me, the 3rd time I tried and the machine didn't work, I asked I needed someone to come help me. They said to each other I was giving them attitude! Excuse me, Im not giving you attitude, I'm busy, I'm in a hurry and I need you to do your job that's why you girls the 3 of you are here, to help us not to be sitting and talking to each other. It was unrealistic, I couldn't believe I had to ask 3 times for help and they were refusing to help me when they were doing nothing, just talk to each other about their life. read more

This business is why yelp has to have a spot to upload videos... I wish I had used a hidden camera, so you all could see how poorly I was treated at this post office. The two women running the counter were not slammed with customers, there was no line, and nothing to make them unusually rude... but they were. I was shocked to be yelled at- similar to cranky airport security. I was even more disgusted when it was my turn to approach the counter. Instead of the common "Next," or "May I help you?" the attendant said "HELLOOOOoooooOOO!" I gave her two envelopes, and she shoved one back to me scolding, "one at a time, OK?!?" She barked the total at me, and huffed and puffed as I got my money together. She had her hand out, and kept jerking it toward me. I was soaking wet due to the sudden storm outside, and she has the nerve to say "don't you got an umbrella..." I replied, "um-bre-la?" like "gee, lady, you're a genius, can you be chief of staff of my life?!" The worst post office I've encountered in the city of Chicago. All the female employees (except one) are rude, condescending, roll their eyes, patronize you, yell at you - I thought "this is how women"s prison must feel like". Lines are long at all times, wait time is up to 20 minutes. If you are using Media Mail, you are a suspect, trying to conceal something else as a book. A few times my package was opened and checked, without a word of apology. I just don't understand, these are bad times, high unemployment, how hard is it to hire nicer people? These women don't deserve their jobs. There are paying customers lining up to be yelled at. The only professional service at this place is the automated machine. No Media Mail option, but it's worth to pay more just to avoid personal interaction. Update: New experience, I went there twice recently to mail a box abroad. They don't care about size or weight, they charge you Priority Mail regardless. First time I didn't know and overpaid it. Next, I took a printout of rules of First Class International parcel shipping with me. They yelled at me that THEY know the rules. I told them I will mail it elsewhere, the response was "Sure, go where they don't know how to do their job". I went to Lincoln Park Market PO to discover new world - friendly & professional employees. They weighted my parcel, mailed it First Class, done in three minutes. I'm only using this PO from now on. P.S. I complained online to the Post Master about practice of international shipments being routinely overcharged at the Sheffield office. I've got no response. I guess it helps with the revenue. When you threaten someone over a .1oz weight difference, do you not think they are gonna be pissed off? I am a regular at the post office. I ship tons of eBay packages, and I have even purchased a USPS scale, so that I could avoid the misery of standing in line to pay for my postage. Prepaying my postage has worked on hundreds of packages, until today when I stopped by the lovely USPS in my area. I hand over 3 packages and get the response, "did you weigh these ahead of time". "Yes" I respond, and I rattle off the weights of each of the packages. Two check out fine, and I am handed one back. "It's over weight" I am told... "Overweight? It weighed 9 ounces when I weighed it today" I responded.... "It's overweight by 1/10th of an ounce, you will need to pay the difference". When you print a label out with PayPal there is no option for even choosing a percentage of an ounce, and either way the package would still ship at a first class postage rate (as long as it is under 13 ounces)... .I politely try to show her how absurd her statement was, and I ask if she would be so kind as to let this one slide.... No dice.... I am told "You are cheating us out of money by incorrectly weighing your packages, and you should be weighing them with the label on before you send them".... HELLOOOO you have to input the weight of a package before you can print your label... Either way, I'm probably going to hell for cheating the US Post Office out of 3.5 cents for being overweight by .1 ounce. What comes around goes around. I feel bad, because some of the people who work at this location are very sweet and try very hard. However, one bad apple can ruin the experience. read more

They are rude, nasty, slow as hell, and act like you have asked the world of them by trying to actually use something our tax dollars go towards. As I approached her, she explained that she was off duty. And then she continued to smugly count her receipts. "Is anyone else coming out?" "Eventually." 5 minutes "Scuze me, but when is someone coming out?" "I don't know what you're complaining about, you haven't even been here long. You should have seen the line earlier in the day." Bunch of people in line now, "They can't really all be on break at once can they?" Me, "Apparently they can." 10 minutes "Can you send someone out here please?" I thought I had stepped into an alternate universe when I walked into this post office. You see, there was no line--three of us walked in at the same time, and composed a line ourselves--and this was just after noon! Then, there was a worker actually assisting people in the line--to use the automated postal center, to check their P.O. Boxes, etc. Then, when it was my turn, the lady called me over and handled my passport application in an efficient, friendly manner. It was awesome. I don't live close to Lincoln Park, but I kind of want to do all my post office things here. They're the best. read more

Lots of thievery. I have a friend that is a mail carrier and she told me that things aren't lost they are stolen. I live ONE block away and have not received about 8 or 9 items I ordered thru the internet. My neighbors and I all have the same problem and you can fill out a million forms which we have and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happens. So now I never order anything over $15. read more

When you get to the front, they usually find some small thing wrong with your package in order to send you to the back of the line. Now that I have moved to a faraway land known as Roscoe Village, I'm ready to come clean about this post office. I don't know if they're especially disaffected because they have to put up with clueless DePaul kids and snobby Lincoln Park nannies all day, but the employees at this post office are among the nastiest and laziest post office employees I have ever encountered. Yes, I know it's totally cliche, but cliche is alive and well here at the corner of Fullerton and Sheffield. You can fill out all the proper forms, wait in the little velvet-roped line, and approach the counter with a smile on your face and your form of payment outstretched. It won't make a bit of difference. They're going to huff and puff at you, roll their eyes at you, make snide comments about you, and otherwise make you feel like you're crashing the party.
