I'm disgusted every time I have to step into a USPS office. The clerks are the worse you can encounter. My time is wasted, I am treated with total indifference, no courtesy. I shipped a book using media mail, and I told the lady the cheapest, and I paid $6.11 to ship a book from IL to NY? How is that? Don't even dare to ask the lady any question otherwise be ready to be humiliated with their garbage attitude. They do not deserve the job they have, they don't earn their salary! The facilities are also garbage, dirty, completely abandoned. I still haven't found a single one USPS office in Chicago where the window clerks are nice. This says a lot about this business. This is the WORST Post Ofice I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with! Last week: It was painful waiting in line, watching one Teller take forever to sign in, another Teller sign in and walk away, and the only Teller actually working allowed some employee from the back to cut in line to do her personal business on company time. When I finally got to the counter to send my package with Delivery Confirmation, I am greeted without any apologies for the delay in service and for the untimely wait in line. For them, it's just another day at the office. Earlier this week: my boyfriend had a package delivered to his home. It took us days and several trips to the post office to recover it. Present day: We tried another approach. My boyfriend used their automated service to send out a Priority Envelope with Delivery Confirmation on Wed, Dec 14. It was suppose to be in Plainfield on Fri, Dec 16. We tracked it on the website today, Sun Dec 18, and it's still in Chicago! Do we get a refund for their service not living up to its promise? Enclosed in the envelope was a birthday present for his birth Mom. Time was of the essence! There is only one race working at this place. Where is the diversity? They took our ID and address to go see if the item was there but they told us that we would probably have to wait for the package to come to us. This post office is really terrible. I try not to have anything shipped to me via USPS just for the fact this particular office has the laziest mail carriers I've ever seen. They were much better at the Jeff park location, but Portage park is just very poorly run, they need a new postmaster very badly at this location or better supervision. My current problem is trying to get a less than 1b package delivered to my house. Were currently going on the 14th days since it's been shipped from Ohio. They put a sorry we missed you card (when I was home, didn't even ring the bell). 3 days after the tracking numbers estimated delivery date. I went online almost a week ago to sign up for re-delivery and authorized them to leave it by mailbox, and no redelivery ever attempted. I also over the last 3 years have had the same problems as others. I get no mail for days at a time and then my mailbox is stuffed to the top with mail and all of them have different postmark dates (meaning they were all not shipped on the same day). Last I checked tampering with mail delivery was a federal offense. I've written a complaint to the post master and If that doesn't work I'll be contacting the media (problem solvers/whats your problem, etc..) read more

I've only been here once but I had a very pleasant experience. I had to pick up a package and although it was in the wrong place, the clerk found it for me right away and was really nice about it, apologizing for the wait (I only waited like 5 minutes). She was super nice and helpful to the people who were being helped ahead of me too. Our postal delivery lady is always really nice and comes at the same time everyday. Living in other neighborhoods (ie. Humboldt Park or Logan Square) I frequently had mail missing or tossed in a big pile on the floor with everyone else's. That isn't the case here. Horrible place! The clerks are lazy and some of them don't really even know what they're doing. They also don't help you with fundamental things like lend you a marker, pen, or tape, etc. If you need any of that you have to buy it, and then wait in line again to deal with more crap. I know the post office gets a bad rap, and sometimes I don't even get my mail and sometimes the lobby is really slow at this location, but whenever I call and ask if I can pick up an overnight package they let me come in early so I don't have to wait for the mail man. The workers have always been courteous to me, I guess it's one of those things where if you are nice to them they will be nice to you. read more

I had a fine experience here; considering my general dislike for the postal service, that's really saying something. There were only two employees at the time I went and one was tending to a very upset costumer for the duration of my visit. So, considering only one employee was able to service the growing line, she kept it moving quickly. She was very nice to everyone. I will say the parking lot to the post office is wonky. The entrances are semi hard to find and you pretty much have to be on the correct side of the street in order to see the entrance. I tried to enter the parking lot through an alley, but that isn't possible. read more

This is the worst post office for delivery. In my experience, while dealing with the clerks, they are mostly good. Everyone can have their bad day or deal with terrible people, so I understand if they are not in the mood to be super friendly. To me, they have been pleasant. Now, when it comes to delivering packages, they are the worst. I order a lot from Amazon and many times the tracking says they attempted to deliver and left a notice....but they don't leave a notice. The notice says I would have to pick up from my package from the post office. I can't pick it up since I don't have a notice to claim it. This has happened to me at least 6 times in one year alone. The day after I called the post office they said I could come in with an ID and proof of address to pick up my package. I went to the post office and it wasn't there. Later that day, my package was magically left in my locked mailbox. So, it was clear the mail carrier did not even attempt to deliver on the original/paid day and falsified that s/he attempted delivery. I order with Amazon Prime and in order to get my packages it takes an additional 1-2 days just because they mail carriers got lazy. read more

This location lost a package of mine that was supposed to be out for delivery the previous week then just never ended up being delivered. BOX at This location I'm here every weekend picking or dropping off and the staff has always treated me with respect and helpful with whatever question or concerned I've had. This place is a dump! Dropped off a bunch of packages here with shipping labels already attached and paid for... got a few of them back two weeks later marked return to sender. They look like someone slashed them up with a razor. Clerks at the desk are on a power trip, making it up as they go along! Unprofessional! USPS should just close this branch. read more

This is probably the worst post office I've been to, we dealt with clerk 13 I couldn't see her name due to it being partially covered by her sloppy and loose uniform, we went for passports and while were trying to complete our transaction clerk 13 proceeded to text her friends and misplace paperwork, when I asked her some questions regarding the passports she ran over and hugged some other employee and made some snarky remarks, what a waste of tax payer money. This wont be a shock, but the sales representative was extremely rude to me. Id like to point out that I was the only customer there, totally empty room except for me and two sales associates. I brought in a box that was wrapped very well, excessive amounts of tape, but apparently the wrong kind of tape. I put the box on the desk, said "hello" and the person just stared at me in silence. Next I said "Id like to mail this box out" and the person told me something to the effect of not with that tape, thats the wrong kind of tape. Ok so they wanted me to buy their tape, and I said "ok, so you just want me to buy your tape" Next the person said something to the effect of I dont care where you buy your tape, buy it here or somewhere else. So I proceeded to walk up to the tape wall with my package and when I got there the person said "you want it to arrive safely, right?" so my response was a loud sarcastic "no", the person responded by saying "ok, well bring it back up here and Ill take care of it for you". Ok, well at that point I was fuming and triumphantly exclaimed "F**k You!" and left with my package. I rode the damn bus, two trains and walked two blocks where I mailed my box through UPS with the assistance of a very helpful and professional sales associate. To be clear, it is not my recommendation to tell the sales associates in this business "F**K You!", but It did feel great and those people who work in there are total assholes. read more

Post offices are never a great experience, so much waiting, so many idiots waiting in the line in front of you to do something they could have done at the automated station - or worse - just give the teller a damn envelope...but the key to enjoying an experience at a post office (or any other place like this that you have to visit over and over again) is to have a positive outlook and make friends with the tellers. I've had a few mediocre and negative experiences at this location, but today's will be the last. I had an irregularly-shaped package due to fitting one box inside of another and MacGyvering them together; it was a very stable box, though. The lady calls me over to her desk and I greet her pleasantly, which she reciprocates to the minimum. I then place my package on the scale, and she tells me to only put one box on the scale at a time. I then tell her that it is indeed one box, to which she tells me that it is in fact TWO boxes, and that I cannot ship them together. A box does not have to be a perfect rectangular prism; within reason, variations are expected. This was definitely within reason. I was pressed for time (isn't that always the case at the post office?) so I changed my days plans in order to be able to try a post office with employees who might actually attempt to solve your problem with you, rather than looking the other way as quickly as possible. Pablo at the Post Office on 1343 W Irving Park took the very same package, weighed it without incident, and shipped it off to its destination. I even mentioned this event to him and he said that for Parcel Post (what I requested) certain restrictions do apply but this package came nowhere close. Only if I have no other options will I ever come back to this unpleasant post office. read more

Horrible experience. Not only they are always extremely slow, but after loosing my package they did not want to help. I shipped a quiet important bridal package with 2 days delivery service, where clerk lady assured me it will get to the destination in 2 days, which yes, I gladly payed for. 4 days later package is nowhere to be found. They have the same status of "received" (at location, certain time and day) on line, for 4 days, and the supervisor not only in condescending way told me I should call 800 number, but also made a sarcastic comment that I probably wouldn't pay the express fee, so now I should just wait and see what happens to the package. Unreal !!! When I payed for this shipment I said I don't care about price, I just want it to get there on time. Not only that did not happen, they lost the package! She also told me, she had no way of tracking it. It is not true. I checked with other offices, they scan they packages in few different points during shipment and even if one scan won't happen for some reason, other ones should show the process of shipment. Most likely the box was still in their building and never left it. I will make sure to personally make complains about this place, especially the condescending supervisor. read more

I still don't understand why ppl that work in government jobs have the worst attitude and feel like they could do whatever they want! I have a mailman that refuses to pick up the mail?!?! Tells me he's going to come back later and never shows up?? Ohhh and that's after he takes free juice from my store. The supervisors over here, don't care about anything. To follow up on my initial review...the lack of competence is mind blowing. I called the post office to check on my package (which is now is some sort of limbo) and before I could explain much of anything the woman told me that "it doesn't matter what it says on the Internet" (I told her I tracked my package) I should not bother trying to come pick it up until I have the note left by the carrier. Never mind the fact that I never got a note from any imaginary carrier who never showed up to deliver ANY of the mail for my entire block. This post office has got to be one of the worst around. I am home to receive my package, but the carrier doesn't bother to ring the doorbell. Instead leaves an Attempt to Deliver notice. I request another attempt, promising to be home. The notice disappears, the package never arrives, and best of all, the PO never answers the phone! I called today and asked to speak with a supervisor. That part wasn't bad...then a female that identified herself as " Goldsmith" answered. I began talking to her...within seconds, I heard the recording that's heard when you're on hold. Then another female answered..she identified herself as " Wilson.. who are you holding for?" I told her, a supervisor..Goldsmith. The 10 minute hold began..... This isn't the first time I got rude, terrible service here.
