I dropped off a vest to be dry cleeaned, and forgot about it for a while. When I went back three times, there was never anyone there, and no way to make a payment and get the item. I still do not have it, and I called the number and did not get a return call. I called again today and left a message to call me, but I am not holding my breath as I await a call back. Had a passport appt today and we walk in and they tell me that it got "cancelled" because the passport agent is here and is gone for a week and that they called everyone to cancel it. She said "Well yeah she's not here so we had to cancel all appointments." Tried to explain I never got a phone call OR email. And now, packages for those in our addition are being placed in an unsecured central location instead of being delivered to our front porches. And no, road conditions are not the reason. I have always had good experiences with Durango USPS! Living just past the bad bridge here on County Road 240 we quit getting mail. When I checked Tracking it said "Held at Post Office at Customers request" That is not true... We never requested that. They just will not go around thru Bayfield with a delivery person. UPS and Fedex have made the trip and brought our packages. Seems like they could send one person and save 50 or more households the trip. read more

all my other mail is being delivered but both my credit cards are missing. I've seen usps there multiple times and got one notification that I had a failed delivery. however other mail was delivered for me later that day. I think someone just FAILED to use their brain cells. Now that I see these yelp reviews it makes me think that they have a crew of f-ing idiots, if they're there but not delivering and marking it as "failed". No you failed at doing your job. I watched my carrier pull up to my mailbox and sit in the truck while I received a notification that I had a failed delivery attempt for CERTIFIED MAIL FROM OUR COURTHOUSE! They didn't even open my mailbox let alone come up to my house. She no one answers the phone EVER! Filed a report and all I got was an email saying the had investigated my complaint and that it had been resolved by locating my mail at the station! My carrier has said that my road was blocked with no access as they say at my mailbox. Has crammed a package so tightly in that ANOTHER employee had to come and get the package out. Has said no one was home as I watched them sit at my mailbox! Has even said undeliverable address! And this has gone on for the entire 7 years at this address in Grandview. I mailed medical samples at the Cortez post office to the lab in Grand Junction on Sept 28. That package was sent priority express. It arrived in Durango on the same day a few hours later. There it sat from September 28 until October 19th. From there it went to Denver and then on to Grand Junction where it is supposed to be delivered on October 20. Three weeks of sitting in the Durango post office and it didnt move until the insurance claim was instituted. Of course they have now found the package and will refuse the insurance even though the medical samples are no longer usable. My office staff has spent hours on hold on the phone to the main government number as well as the Durango number. This government agency needs to be made accountable. Whoever is in charge of the Durango post office needs to be fired and charged with Dereliction of Duty. read more

Today I witnessed a man treating the post office employee with total disrespect. It was nice to watch everyone in line support the employee and encourage the man to leave. We all have problems on occasion. But there are ways to deal with it in a calm manner without taking it out on employees who are doing their best to just do their job. These are difficult times. Why is it so difficult for the carriers to read an address and actually deliver mail to the correct place? And here's a suggestion: Provide your mail carriers with a mailbag so that the mail isn't soaking wet when it's carried through the rain and snow. I find it very thrilling when I find a notice telling me there was an "attempted delivery," but you couldn't deliver it because the garbage can was slightly in front of the mailbox. That's not even an "attempt," more like failure to attempt. And then a re-delivery is just never attempted. However Tiffany and the other curly haired lady were some of the rudest people I've ever encountered at a post office. This post office has the worst service of almost anyplace I've seen. Since moving here three years ago, I've had ongoing delivery service. Expensive medicines have been ruined because packages were not delivered properly. Also, the lack of response of redelivery is impossible. When I tried to email them they didn't recognize the article number. After being on hold on the phone for 2 hours they couldn't help because of that number. I used to not mind taking wrongly delivered mail to whichever neighbor it was addressed to and did the posts office a favor by having it appear as though mail was correctly delivered. Now I am paying the price. An Arizona court sent me a notice to appear for a a case I filed there and it was not delivered. The case was dismissed for non appearance on my part because the court system assumes that unless mail comes back to them as "undeliverable" it was delivered to the correct address. I am now filing additional motions to have this case reconsidered and the feedback so far has been "sorry, those are the court rules". Our mail is delivered anywhere between 10 am and 8 pm by different unidentifiable persons in plain clothes and unmarked vehicles. Different carriers have told me it is their first time delivering to this neighborhood. Just yesterday four parcels were delivered to my open garage and each package was clearly marked with neighbors name and address. I will no longer redeliver mail and I will ask the post office to pick it up with a signed receipt and an acknowledgement that carriers often deliver mail to the wrong address. Perhaps the court system will realize that Durango is not like the rest of the country and we do not have reliable mail service. read more

I don't understand why there is only one PO for a city that has a population of about 18k people. If they are going to keep only one PO then stock it with more than 1 postal clerk. I do whatever I can to not use the PO here, but when I do, I alway allow at least 30 minutes, which is ridiculous. Yesterday I was in there and it took 45 minutes to get out. This post office has had issues in the past with mail theft from within the post office staff. We had a card carefully opened with a sharp tool, had the contents of the card taken out and had the envelope neatly taped closed and it was rerouted to a post office in Grand Rapids, MI. and redelivered to us. This was 2 years ago. We had no issues last year but it's starting again. We received a Thanksgiving card from family and it was neatly opened. The card had nothing in it to begin with so there was nothing to steal but they checked. Our mailboxes haven't been broken into. They are locked. I recently ordered something from amazon and received a notification that I received it, guess what? No package well I called the main number for the post office and they started an incident report and told me they would call with updates. Well I returned home from being out all day and noticed I received 2 packages not only did I get them but they appeared to be kicked down the stairs, I found them laying on its side part way down the stairs. Not to mention when I first moved in one of my packages I ordered from amazon which was also delivered by USPS was left on top of my mailbox mind you my mail box is with a few others and right on a main road. First off they wont deliver my package and the tracking is all over the place. The package came to my front door and they just shipped it back to Albuquerque rather than leaving it at the post office so I cold pick it up the next day. Then the package got shipped all the way back to New York where it came from. I don't understand what is going on, just deliver my god damn package. I had a package come through the Post office this last Saturday,they said its undeliverable. I tried to call the Post Office on Monday morning starting at 8 am, the time they open. I called 4 times within 45 minutes no answer every time. So I had to come to the Post Office in town, to try to resolve the problem. I talked to Darlene, which informed me the package was sent back. I came back about 30 minutes later to talk to the manager, that never came out to see me within the 20 minutes waiting for her. In the meantime they happen to find my package, and told me that I would have to pay shipping ($10.05) on the package that I had already paid shipping for. I said I wanted to talk to the Manager still after I paid, I was told it would be another 15-20 minutes, that's when I decided to leave. I have worked in Customer service most of my life, the USPS has none ! If any other business treated there customers as USPS did they would be out of Business !!!! read more
