if you're going to get stuck at a post office for hours....might as well make it this one. its got a cool historical feel to it and there's a 711 up the street so you can grab a tall boy and slam it in the adjacent alley as you wait for your ticket # to be called for your passport application lol. also a ton of good restaurants within a 1/2 block radius to walk to for something to eat. their passport service is actually very efficient and painless. you just need to survive the wait unless you go on a slow weekday which i highly recommend. good amount of 2 hour free parking around the vicinity unless a fat armo chick stands in the middle of one thinking that its ok to save the spot for her heffer friend in their leased bmw that costs more than their 1 bedroom apartment. read more

Visited passport office the Saturday before last. Line was dreadful, into the hallway. 3 clerks working diligently, one noticeably quicker than the others so let the couple behind me get help when my number was called so I could get the quicker clerk. Was worth the gamble as I finished before the couple who I let go ahead of me. Had the please of being helped by a beautiful mixed young lady with freckles. She made would have could have been an extremely unpleasurable experience into smooth sailing. My daughter hates pictures but the clerk was able to bribe her with stickers, tantrum avoided! Thank you! Too bad she was wearing a wedding ring as I think she could made an awesome stepmother. read more

This yelp review is based solely off the one phone call I had where I received a ton of attitude in a very short amount of time. I wish I had gotten the name of the incredibly rude woman I spoke to who scoffed at every question I asked. I was simply trying to inquire about their passport services and the woman I spoke to was not only unhelpful and rude but also talked to me as if I were stupid. She seemed to be in a hurry or something but still a poor excuse for terrible customer service. This building is beautiful too bad it has horrible customer service. First off I'm not sure how this place has gotten away with it so long but it is definitely not wheelchair friendly. Yes it has a ramp, but it's on the right side of the building. The building is divided into 3 sections on the left they have the room that does passports on the right they have the po boxes and in the middle is the the desk for the post office and it's divided by door which get locked when the post office closes. if your looking to get your passport you will have to wait till 10 when the post office opens while everyone else can start getting in line at 8am. Second the way the passport process worked is someone checks to make sure you have what you need before sending off to the people who will actually process you passport paperwork. The guy that was checking people is was absolutely rude for no reason. I understand that things change and if you want to renew you have to mail it in, but I just asked if I could renew in person since I would feel better if my application was checked by someone who's job it is to fill out these applications properly. The guy said no with out even hearing my concerns or questions about the application. He than proceeds to simple toss my passport on the table in my direction instead of handing it to me or even placing it in front of me. I have never been treated with such disrespect and made to feel like a child who was being lectured. I will definitely be looking elsewhere for my postal needs . read more

Ok, so ever since I got my naturalization done, I wanted to get my first American passport. I rushed to do it because I have a flight trip coming up next week. I went there 8:30 a.m. and waited freaking TWO hours because there was this ONE person who reviews the passport application one by one. Seriously?????? There's shit ton of people who need to get it done and there is ONE person who handles it? This does not make any sense at all lol When I finally saw the person who reviews the application I was stunned because there was one more friggin room full of people waiting to get actual job done. I was already tired of waiting and this was nothing less than frustrating. After I waited in the room to be called, this chubby young guy with black hair (wish I had his name so I could talk more about him) went through my application and saw my trip plan which is on 5/12. Then he told me that I needed to make an appointment with passport agency in Los Angeles to get my passport on that same day because post offices take 5-8 weeks to process my new passport. The next week I went to the passport agency which took me an hour drive and made me ditch my class, BUT I couldn't even get my new passport because I didn't have enough money. They told me the total was $215 to make a passport there. Basically, they charge extra $65 as an expedition fee. That dude from post office did not mention me anything about this. Also, they said they do not make the passport there, so I need to either come again to pick it up or pay for the express mail. That guy from post office told me this place makes the passport so I will be able to get it here on the same day. SUCH AN MISINFORMED EMPLOYEE. Most ridiculously, my trip is NOT international, which means I DID NOT EVEN NEED TO TRY TO GET A NEW PASSPORT BECAUSE I DON'T NEED PASSPORT TO FLY WITHIN THE COUNTRY. I just said ok when he told me to go to the agency because I thought he was giving me correct information, being very attentive. But apparently, he did not even recognize that my trip wasn't international, while my application clearly said 'trip plan: 5/12/2017 - 5/14/2017, to Boston, MA'. Again, SUCH AN MISINFORMED EMPLOYEE!!!!! In the end, I just wasted my time, effort, gas, and energy (one thing I got from this experience was an absence in my class lol) because this guy fucked up on me. This is the WORST!!! Post office ever. I've never in my life experience what I did today at this post office. I had an appointment for o get my 3 year olds passport. We got there 40 mins before our appointment( our appointment time was at 10:30am) with my husband and my five year old as well. ( Had to take her out of school cause I didn't have anyone to watch her ) my husband took time off of work. 20 mins in our appointment realized we forgot her birth certificate. My husband rushed home to get it. I was in line they called me 15 mins prior to my appointment. I told the lady my husband is on he's way back cause we forgot my daughter birth certificate at home. She said if he's not here by 10:30am you need to reschedule (it took me a month to make an appointment) and our family trip is coming in June. Next appointment wasn't till April 10th. She didn't care and was giving me a hard time. My husband got back at 10:36am and the lady didn't care was rude as hell and she was the supervisor. I asked to speak to her manager and she keep repeating herself that we are late and can't take us in. I finally spoke to the manager and went back and forth. She was rude and not understanding. She said give me a minute and left us. After almost three hours of waiting with my kids hungry and the supervisor kept coming out and telling us her manager wasn't available on a telephone call or whatever with her manager and couldn't talk to us and we should just leave. After almost 4 hours of waiting with my 3 and 5 year old. A lady came to her appointment and she was 6 mins late and they took her in for her appointment. I was so mad I wanted to cry cause they had us waiting with my kids for 4 hours and they just let that lady in. This is not a way to treat people. The lady was taking her authority to the next level and made it a personal issue for herself. This is not right. I will be contacting the post master general and complain about these two women. They should be held accountable for their actions. So much more happened that It's too long to type. But please be careful when making an appointment for your passport. They are not helpful and absolutely no customer service. Just power trips from the supervisor cause the other employees can't even say anything because in front of us she was arguing with an employee that was so nice. Post offices are like the DMV, they operate in their own universe at their own leisurely government speed. If you know that going in and give yourself plenty of time, then you can spend that time in line laughing at all the people who frustratedly huff and puff, thinking the line should move as fast as their beloved McDonald's drive-through. From Verdugo all the way to San Fernando? geez I understand the budget cuts and understaffing BUT when the staff you HAVE is worthless, how much help is that to you Uncle Sam? This particular location always gets on my nerves and I have NO choice but to go here since this is the office for "my territory". Let's start off with the fact they they never re-deliver! They bring a package once (that can be fit in the mailbox) and you are not home, they leave a notice to go pick it up! What happened to second and third attempts? Or do you think I enjoy driving 10 minutes each time, looking for parking and waiting in a 30 minute line because you have 2 people working at 6 stations? Grrr! And what's worse, is that (this happened to me TWICE now) they tell you, you can pick up your package around 5:30-closing time the same day since that's when the carrier arrives and BOTH time I went at 5:55 and they said "well you must come tomorrow it says on the notice". Get your shit straight! If you do not allow same day pickups and SAY SO, but don't say yes you can come before closing and then say no you must come tomorrow. read more

If only a review accepts without a star, I totally wouldn't even waste a rate for US Postal Service at all. any government offices you go the service is below standards. The employees are very slow and don't care no fuzz about their urgency. I was in line for passport application and there was only 1 window open. But there were 3 windows open for regular mailing. Now, if have you been in line for passport, you'll know the processing for one single customer could consist of family of 5 or more. Technically the process for 1 takes about 20mins. You could be there in line for more than 2 hrs. Then the attendant processor won't even try to move a bit faster than normal and walk away for more than 15 mins. This rate doesn't only reflect to this post office but in general all post offices does and great their customer poorly. read more

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT trust this place. I went on September 19th to apply for a passport with expedited shipping. 3 weeks went by with nothing in the mail so I called. They end up telling me that they have no record of me applying, even though I was charged according to my bank statement. They tell me to call the passport agency for more information, so I do...no luck. I then call the post office back and they tell me that they lost EVERYONES passport application for that day and to bring my receipt for a refund. I couldn't find my receipt so I bring in a copy of my bank statement. They end up telling me that I need a receipt to receive a refund, even though I have proof they charged my $200 that day. After an hour of yelling at the "manager" who was extremely unsympathetic, he finally gave me my money back. There was no accountability for their faults, no apologies, no nothing. I end up loosing $400 on a round-trip flight to Canada. Don't say I didn't warn you! read more

This is a beautiful, historic building. However, parking is difficult, as there is no lot (only meters). And being located close to the Glendale Police Dept, you better not forget to feed the meter! It seems that the long lines move slowly, so I am not a frequent patron of this location. The USPS on Verdugo is better, in my opinion. read more

This is my favorite post office..Yes there is always a line, however it moves fairly quickly. Today I went to mail a package and the man who helped me was so nice and helpful...I should have been more prepared with my label and shipping info..and yet his smile never left his face. Came to process paperwork for a passport on Saturday 4/16/16. Opens at 7am I arrived at about 6am there was one lady waiting outside on the Louise side street entrance. I approached her and asked if the line formed there as the po box side was open as well and also has a door to enter. There are no signs to point out which door is the right one. Luckily we made an agreement that I would wait on the main entrance side and she would stay on the Louise side entrance and whoever had the right door would allow the other to jump in the line. So for those of you looking where to go and stand in line the ENTRANCE IS ON THE LOUISE SIDE STREET. The process was painless make sure you fill out applications in black and not blue. I was out of there by 7:20. Overall good experience minus the fact that there's no signs to tell people where to form a line. Gov't cuts I guess. read more

Came prepared to be there the whole day after all the miserable reviews. But came midday on a Wednesday and there was only one couple in front of us. We were in and out in 45 mins getting a new passport for our baby and renewing an old one for my husband. Completely painless and very friendly workers! Tip: bring lots of quarters as if you want to park across the street, the meters only take quarters and not credit cards. Good luck!! read more

Great old building, smells like urine inside. Waited in line to pick up a package and once I got to the front of the line, I was told to go somewhere else and see Customer Service for picking up packages. There was even a USPS employee pacing around everyone who was waiting in line, and I was very obviously holding a pick up slip... possibly could've mentioned that before I got to the front of the line? Went over to Customer Service, no one was at the window. I was told to ring the bell. Apparently this meant a DOOR BELL that they had glued on the wall??? Pacer girl came over and said "She's on break." When I said I was not going to wait in line all over again, I was sent to skip the line (everyone loved that). At that point the original Asian woman who sent me away had no choice but to go get my package. REAL annoying! read more

I arrived at 8 am on a Saturday and I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. The people could have been a little nicer, but nothing out of the norm from my personal experience with government agencies/post offices. I suggest filling out the application online and printing that out to expedite the process, which is what I did. The Portos wait was longer than my wait at the post office. read more

I've been having issues lately with this post office not leaving me attempted-delivery notices when I receive foreign packages in that require signatures at the door. I work all day and am unable to be home to sign for things when they come during the day, so actually leaving the notices they insist that they are leaving would be a huge help. In one case I had to rush down to the post office on a Saturday 15 minutes before it closed because I was told on the phone (after waiting over an hour for help) that the package was going to be sent back if I didn't pick it up that day. I got up to the front of the line, and the woman helping me demanded to know where my attempted delivery notices were so that she could retrieve my package... I wish I knew! I wrote my address down on a post-it and everything went fine after that, but it's very frustrating that I'm not getting updates about my packages. I tried to gently complain about this being a repeat problem, but there was a language barrier, so my issue fell on deaf ears. The customer service here is absolutely horrible! I believe the woman I spoke with was Andrea - she was rude and condescending. Do not go here to get a passport (the agent did not process my application correction) and do not expect any recognition for mistakes made by the office. I was informed that the passport ladies are very busy, it gets noisy, and things get missed. I was then told that it is my responsibility to oversee the agent in completing their part of the form. I understand that mistakes happen, but at the very least the staff should acknowledge the inconvenience. read more

Had to visit this post office to get passports done. To my surprise it was very fast and efficient job well done!

NOT OPEN UNTIL 6PM ON SATURDAYS. Google says they are but don;t plan on it. Great staff though very helpful.
