I just wrote a review on the DMV so might as well write another one for another inefficient government institution, the post office. My mother warned me Summerville post office is very slow and I was coming from North Charleston so I figured to stop in at Goose Creek to send my letter as it would surely be faster. Now the facility is located in a safe part of town and it's easy to enter and exit from the main road. Walking in I was going to weigh my mail but the machine was broken so I had to get in line. They had exactly one person for 4 booths. I overheard the lady in front of me saying they never have more than one person working here. Just like the DMV do we have a shortage of workers or something? I was about 15th in line and it was brutally slow. I saw a woman who was over 9 months pregnant who looked like she was going to pass out, but she had strength. Being bored, I struck up a conversation with another woman and she said she never used the weight machine b/c her mail always comes back with wrong postage. So, yet another issue among the compounding issues. I finally got to the counter and I will say the gentleman that served me was a modern day saint. He was unfazed by his predicament and I struck up a quick conversation while he got my letter ready to send. He said the only coworker he had retired and they're training a replacement. He emphasized one replacement, not many. That said he was the best post office worker I've ever met and my mom used to deliver mail! Overall, another example of the inefficiencies of government run institutions. But my concerns are nothing new, yet decades old complaints that never get fixed. I just don't get it. That said while my experience was horrible at least I was served by the nicest post office or perhaps person in general I've ever met. My advice is utilize another office if you can if not, pray the replacement has been trained and is helping. read more

The folks that work the counter are great, no issues with the people in the back either. This one star review is about the "next level of support", the so called "Customer Services" people, including the supervisor. Useless is the nicest word I can come up with. read more

Made an appt for a new passport at 10:45. I waited in line and got to the counter by 11ish. Judy with the purple hair is the best! I was nervous about the process because I wasn't sure about the expediting and name change process but she was super patient and helpful! So nice to have someone guide me through and ensure what I needed to get my passport in time. Thanks Judy! read more

The staff works hard, with only 2 people working up front they have always been nothing but kind and courteous. You may have to wait but well worth it. Now days no matter where you go you wait. read more

I know this post office deserves 5 stars. It's the holiday season, and the line was fast. The two men who were working today were wearing festive gear and one of them even put Christmas music on to feel the spirit of Christmas. It was awesome. They were extremely friendly, making us laugh and were just all around in great spirits. The place was clean and they were extremely Fast. Greg was so patient with me. I was getting my passport for the first time. I didn't know I needed an appointment and I also didn't have my birth certificate. Once I returned it was smooth sailing. He explained the process and what to expect. Again, super helpful. I also have to brag on Lewis. For over 20 years he's always had a smile on his face and remembers everything about you and others on line. Can't get any better with Lewis and Greg! read more

My letter from the VA was opened, and my personal information was clearly exposed. It was mailed from the VA office in Winston-Salem and came through the system to this post office. I contacted the VA to inform them their antiquated administrative practice of printing all of the veteran's personal information is exposing us to identity theft, but I also feel like the damage was done by a postal handler, and something should be done about that as well. Today, I was expecting a delivery of a receipt of vehicle tags from the DMV in New York. The picture of the piece of letter mail was clearly taken and sent to me via email, as I signed up to receive email notifications of my mail. However, when the postal delivery lady placed the mail in my box, it wasn't there. I hailed her vehicle and said, "excuse me, I am looking for the letter from the NY state DMV.", she looked through and said there wasn't anything when there clearly was supposed to be. If this piece of mail contains a refund for registration, or personal information printed in the letter...I am beginning to see a pattern of theft and tampering. I feel distrustful if the postal office here in Goose Creek now and when I tried to call to speak to a manager, the phone wasn't answered. I went to the main website to find a place to file a theft/tampering complaint and I didn't see where to do so. The theft/tampering isn't happening from random strange people getting a hold of my mail, it's happening from the post office itself. An employee of the Goose Creek post office is not properly protecting the sensitive nature of personal mail. When I was a young soldier in the Army and I was a certified postal worker, that was grounds for imprisonment. I'm not sure what's happened over the years, but the mail used to regulated and it was a trustworthy means of correspondence. Sadly, that's no longer true. read more

Nice looking post office, but that is it. Staff member that I asked about if they had a notary acted like a total D-bag. I will go to another USPS office next time I require a postal service. And they wonder why technology is killing them. read more

Greg, Lewis, Deborah and another female worker are always helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Despite all the people coming in with many packages, mail, boxes (large and small) and issues, they were confident and had wonderful customer service. They even gave us candy! It seems like a lot of packages go missing here. They need to do an investigation because no way in hell are all these packages vanishing in thin air like this. Stay away from here and they need to do their rehiring process. This is ridiculous! read more

I try to avoid any post office during peak hours, but rarely do I have more than a 10 minute wait when I stop by the GC post office. The employees are always friendly and helpful and efficient. read more

My package was undeliverable due to missing apartment #. I called fed ex, they said call USPS. I call 8:30 on 03/03, soon as they opened and explained what happened. The women rudely asks, "Is that a question?" I said yes I talked to someone- she cut me off and said you must have talked to Brenda, she'll be back after lunch. I said no, I need to call here and then she proceeds to put me on hold for 10 mins. She comes back on the phone and asks for my info and then says it's in my apartment office. I said no it isn't, and she says it's undeliverable and they'll send it back to me if they find it. I asked what do u mean if they find it, she said well its been 2 days.... but we'll send it back. Days passed and nothing happens, I called someone else in North Charleston and they helped me schedule a reshipping w/ a case # but it was too late, it had already returned to sender. So now I have to pay shipping again, thanks for wasting my time goose Creek post office. I wish I could have had the option to hold the mail or gotten actual help without trying to blow me off in every possible way, but they costed me money over a simple error in the end instead. read more

Can't even call and find put if general delivery mail has arrived. Automated system has no "talk to a person" option, and pressing zero doesn't do it. So I gotta drive all the way pver there just to check for mail that may not even BE there? Stupid and a waste of my time and gas! read more

In Goose Creek, this was the closest post office from where I was at. This is an actual location, so you are able to ship things, pick up supplies, and get a mail box as well. The staff was nice and helpful. A little small, but what do you expect? If you are on the other side of the street, you can't make a u turn at that light, so you have to make a left and go around. read more

Almost always out of flat rate boxes. Makes it very inconvient to mail things out late at night. Most of the time the kiosk is down as well.

This is the 2nd time my package is missing.. they cannot do anything to help me track it down OR ANYTHING. They claimed that they came and picked up my package and scanned it, although, they couldn't find out what the tracking number that I may have mistakenly used a wrong shipping label. They just said they're sorry and there's nothing they can do, I am confused and very upset. My package has been gone for 2 weeks now and the other one was literally over 7 months ago. My packages are forever lost and there's nothing they can do. 1 star for it because I am in emotional distress and very upset customer. read more

This is the worst post office I have ever been to inb my entire 60 year life. I often leave the place feeling sorry I went in there to do business, instead of at a different location. The counter people are somber -looking, condescending, sarcastic and just very unfriendly. Maybe they get beatings there that we do not know about? I mean really, they are just never cheerful.
