I have been going to this post office for five years now (since we moved here in 2017) and I do not know where this awful rating is coming from. It must be every person who has one bad experience comes to rant about it. Has every single experience been above par five stars? No, because there are busy times or days when I'm in a foul mood or customer service isn't perfect... But I've never had a one-star experience in five years. I wouldn't even say I've had a 2-star experience. Overall the staff is friendly and welcoming. I've dropped off prepaid packages, I've bought stamps, we've done passport photos, and I've had to talk to the postmaster. All perfectly fine interactions. I would give four stars but honestly I want to bump up the rating a bit more since I legit have zero problems with this branch. read more

It's a big post office than what I'm used to but they need to hire more people. I walked in and there's a long line only one person on duty. Attempted to use the self kiosk but it was out of what I needed so had to go back into the long line. If things moved a little quicker it would be a great post office. read more

Large, fully-staffed post office with plenty of parking. Staff sounded friendly. There was a long line for counter service, but it was moving along. I used the Self Service station and was in and out in 5 minutes. Adequate number of supplies for self service and the machine was working. Fine location. I'll come here again next time I'm coming up to Gurnee. read more

I have lived in Gurnee for a little over 1 year. Very disappointed in the service every time i was expecting important mail it gets returned say invalid address. i have been in there several times and the manager has a no care attitude for the situation. Please do not have important papers devilered to your address. As I just found out that what i was expecting got returned for invalid address. So please save yourself the headache and have yours documents to another address. read more

The tall, heavy set gentleman who works the window is the most abusive, angry employee I've ever seen in a USPS. AND he typed in the address wrong for an application to an event. It was sent back today. It will cost us thousands. He Shamed a homeless lady while I was there and was rude to others. Not sure how this is tolerated. read more

I sent my legal documents to my country but the lady didn't read the address of the destination so my mail has been sent to Washington DC and stuck there because she just looked at the zipcode. It matters to me because those documents must be used to pick up my car by court order within 14 days otherwise they might consider me that I don't have any interest in my car and they might give it away to another party. read more

The Gurnee P.O. Recently added 2 more self serve kiosks for a total of 4. For most of my postal needs, the self-serve is by far the way to go. Unless you really LIKE standing in the average 20 or so deep lines? Don't forget that you can get forms and buy postage at usps.com also. read more

they have no friendly service there. for example I went to get my passport renewed and the lady acted like everyone knows the passport protocols though you don't renew by mail but every ten years. she was so ridiculously mad at me bc I wrote down the wrong address on money order. omg like it's really the end of the world. bad service all around. read more

If I could give negative stars- I would. Upon realizing our mailman could not differentiate an "o" from an "e" and consistently delivering our mail to a different address with a similar name- I went into the post office to discuss the issue. While the man I spoke with was kind and professional and put me at ease about the situation he did not fix the problem but he made it worse. His solution was to hold our mail and discuss it with our mailman and deliver a weekly batch until they could resolve the problem. There was no weekly batch as promised. We did not receive mail for almost a month after that. I called to inquire only to find out they have not discussed the issue at all with our mailman because a "substitute" was delivering our mail at the time they put it on hold. We have not received important bills, taxes, military discharge papers and VA documents due to the incompetence of management and carriers at USPS. I would think USPS would hire literate carriers to deliver sensitive documents but I suppose that is asking too much. read more

Postal management and post man created a false claim that my mailbox need to be replaced after I complaimed that they need to secure and close the mailbox properly. The local handy man explained to me that the mailbox does not need to be replaced and have seen worse mailboxes than mine. read more

Do yourself a favor and don't ever ship anything by USPS. I was supposed to receive my package 08/02/21 in Waukegan, IL. I got an email update on that date saying it was in Melrose Park, IL waiting delivery. On 08/03/21 I got an email update saying my package was shipped to White Water, WI. 75 miles past my house. Every time I asked for an update, it kept saying it was in White Water, WI. awaiting shipping. On 08/05/21 I called the White Water, WI. post office and was told that my package was in Chicago, IL. awaiting shipping and to expect delivery by 08/17/21. Seriously? Over two weeks past when it was supposed to be delivered to my house??? Is the USPS ever gong to get their heads out of their butts? No wonder they're losing money and business. When I went there and I got some stamps and I am the customer and the old business rule says that customer is always right and in this case I am right. Because I want 10 stamps with the American Flags on them and so the lady behind the counter said to me. Oh we can't do that break up stamps and like that and unless you have to buy 20 of them for 11 dollars and I told her that and I am not going to do that. Then I said to her that which ones do you have and where I can get 10 stamps and she gave me two options and so I choose the option that I wanted. When I dealt with that lady behind the counter and she was very rude from the get go and she does not have good people relations and form and scale from 0 to 10 and she is below the bottom of the totem pole and she is a F- and when you deal with people you in customer service and you can't treat people and like that. Vee is an undesirable and needs to lose the attitude and after my stamps and she never said nothing and I said your welcome. This was my first time going to a post office. At the front desk were two women. Both seemed friendly until I walked up to the counter the first women didn't walk up to help me when I approached her counter and then told me that her co worker can assist me. The other women looked a little stunned by her comment but stepped forward into helping me. The other women who was assisting me was named Mary. Mary was very polite friendly and extremely helpful! I was nervous with all of the bad reviews about this place but she made sending my package a breeze! Don't know why anyone would give this place a awful review. read more

Have to say, really surprised I'm giving a government office 5 stars, but I have to because of one man working there. Line at 10:15am was about 10 deep and there were 3 people working behind the counter, one of those people put up a closed sign, leaving 2. I had few hopes I'd get out in time for my 11am meeting. Suddenly, this employee asks me if I'm paying with credit. Hell, if it'll get me out of this line I'll pay however! He took me to a kiosk and helped me send my packages that way. I've never had a problem shipping letters,smaller packages,etc when i went to ship a bigger gaming system this time i told them numerous times that my package was fragile and needed to be handled carefully. They didn't stop them from flipping it around on the scale. When it arrived to the person i sold it to on ebay they complained about parts being bent and broken. I don't know what's going on here but i'm so disatisfied and upset. read more

This location is great for self serve, but I recommend using a different location if you need to take care of something more complicated than mailing a letter. Customer service is awful. The employee I spoke with belittled me when i tried to renew a passport and did not answer any of my questions before sending me away. I will not be back. read more

I can't say how pissed off I am at the moment due to mail not getting delivered today(November 21st, 2015). Sure, it's literally the first major snowfall of the year but who cares? This is the state of Illinois and we *should* know how to handle snow today. I honestly don't care what the weather conditions are, do your damned job and deliver the mail. Otherwise you shouldn't get payed for the day. If you can't reach the mailbox from your truck due to snow then get the hell out of your truck and walk to the box and put the mail in. That is your job. Do it regardless of condition. In my line of work I can't just tell clients, "Oh it snowed too much and I couldn't drive to your house because it's too hard." That wouldn't cut it then and it won't cut it now. Get your shit together and learn how to drive in the snow. read more

If I could give zero I would have. I ordered a birthday present from Amazon . It never made it. The carrier lied about dropping it off and electronically delivering a package to my house. I called the post office several times with the tracking information and was told by the post office they would call me back. A week later I called again, never did receive a callback, they tell me there is nothing they can do and that my daughter won't get her present. Whatever happened to customer service and pride at the post office. Obviously doesn't exist in Gurnee. read more

Wish you could give negative stars! These are rude people who have no courtesy for their customers! The self service machines constantly malfunction and you have to prove to them you really had a problem with it before they will help you. Because of the service and care and consistently good service I receive from the Gurnee Post Office, I drive the extra distance to mail my packages from here. I mail a LOT of packages. Thomas Brian and Karen are usually at the counter, They're the best! Other folks might know the same thing about the good care and service, because sometimes there's a line you have to wait in, but that changes minute by minute through out the day, as sometimes there's 1 person in line and sometimes 10. The great thing is they also have self serve check out !! From the self serve kiosk you can buy tape or stamps and even mail packages. So handy when you're in a hurry!! ( no international mailing from the self serve kiosks though) Take the time to mail from these kiosks once so you get familiar with the process, and the next time it's busy, just go to one of the 4 self service check outs and you'll be out of there in no time. read more
