This place is a disgrace. They are all useless people in that office who don't know anything about their job. They take forever to send out packages, and have now actually lost something that we ordered. The worst part is they refuse to offer any help whatsoever. What a terrible establishment. Instead of taking responsibility for screwing up orders they simply blame anyone else involved. This is the worst USPS I have ever been to in my life! I was shipping a package internationally and I asked to use some tape for my package. They refused to ship my package until i paid $3.50 for the tape that I used. Never did they specify the tape was not free! Robbery! I went to get my passport renewal application forms. I told the man twice I want two copies of the passport renewal application forms (I think his name is John). He was on the left window. He was rude and gave me the wrong forms. He gave me DS-11 instead of DS-82. I called the passport office because I didn't like his attitude nor trust him. He looked as if he didn't want to be there and no manners. He didn't respond when I said hello twice and thank you. He just ignored me. If you hate your job this much, go get another one. You make a good living doing a comfortable job. Unlike, those postal workers who have to drive and walk in the hot sun and rain to deliver mails and packages. Us, taxpayers are paying your salary! In my limited experience with government run agencies, I've found that the postal service is one of the worst in terms of customer service. I previously lived in Harlem, NY, where the lines were frequently in the double digits and waits were longer than 1/2 hour. The U.S. Post Office (dubbed the Frank Sinatra) at 89 Hudson Street is no better than my experiences in the past. And while the wait may be shorter, the personnel and customer service is severely lacking. As with most post offices, they close right around the time that most people are getting out of work, so one needs to rush to meet someone at a counter (closes at 6pm) to pick-up packages. Many post offices that offer Post Office Boxes have a separate section for the boxes to be checked after hours, however the Frank Sinatra station does not. This means that if you don't get to the post office during their hours, you're unable to check your mail. And if your post office box is up for renewal and you send them a check to extend your lease, don't rely on the post office themselves to ensure correct delivery. They will lock you out of your box without even notifying you. Naturally, when you confront them, they can't recommend you hand deliver the check instead of mailing it (because of reliability issues). And be careful of their shady customer services practices that make reliability of the post office even less. On more than one occasion have I called to ask what time they closed, to walk the mile plus to their location to find they closed early for one reason or another (i.e., in-climate weather conditions). If you have the option of using another post office in the Hoboken area, I certainly recommend this. Otherwise, try a Mailboxes, Etc., or use FedEx or UPS. The U.S. Post Office / Frank Sinatra Station is just not worth their shady business practices, unreliable hours and poor customer service. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would... Go to the one on Washington if possible. They are much nicer. A family friend ordered China from my bridal registry website. When it did not show up delivered she contacted the vendor directly who said it was left with post office. I never received a delivery slip and explained that to the woman at the USPS. She said there's no way my package was there if I did not get a delivery slip. I kindly asked her two more times if she could just check and of course, within seconds she returned with it. More recently I was told a package was delivered to my apartment when it was not. I was home the whole day of delivery and nothing was left. I called and filed a claim for a $150 maternity coat. I was basically told by the manager at this branch there was nothing they could do and that it was my fault it was "stolen." After requesting to speak to someone else I was hung up on. read more

What's happening with my mail? I put some stamped mail in the letter slot to be sent off and half of it never even made it. Half my bills went unpaid including the rent! Yikes! A month later, those missing letters haven't even been returned to sender. I won't use this Post Office again. Never had this experience at any other post office except this one. My first clue should have been the way the clerk walks away when he sees you approaching the window. I only wanted some stamps! There's always a problem with the automated stamp machine. Expected much better service for such a nice area. I'm going out of my way back to the old, battered looking post office in NYC but at least all of my mail gets to where it's supposed to go and my bills get paid. Wow I'm so surprised at the negative reviews for this office. I've never had a bad experience here. (Though I do work up the street, so I usually go in the afternoon). I don't have to deal with what seems like crazy mornings and the mad-dash evenings. The employees are always pretty nice and helpful, albeit slow. The slowness never really bothers me, again because it's the afternoon and I'm in no rush to get back to my desk. The postage machine is my all time favorite thing about this place though. It makes my life. I'm a self-check out kinda girl. Anywhere I can do self check out, best believe that's what I'm doing! The machine is so convenient. I've mailed letters, small packages, medium sized packages, all without having to wait in line or suffer employee slowness. Shipping, esp overnight shipping is sooooo much cheaper at the post office than at UPS or FEDEX, that there is enough to keep me coming back! read more

This place is amazing!!! If you have family/friends that live far away, the post office like having a friend that happens to be flying to that destination and is willing to you a favor take your package from you to them. Even better than your irresponsible friends, the postal service will send you text message check-ins of where they are with your package so you have complete peace of mind. Yes, there are lines, but I would also spend about 30 minutes chatting it up with my friend when dropping of my package with them as I would not want the favor to be perceived as me taking advantage of them. read more

If I could give -0000 to this post office employees I would I happened to use this location few times and every time slow inefficient service it seems to me they hate their job, not a smile, if you ask something it seems like they are annoyed to answer but today I had the worst experience today the clerk rolled out her eyes on me just in front of my face . I had two packages addressed to two different persons and she told me that I made mistake on labels based on the package weight (how do you know what goes where lady!!!!) and told me I paid less and I could not pay difference needles to say she sent me away without shipping my packages then I immediately went to another post office and the packages went out in two seconds. Btw they where prepaid labels. Incompetent people, and how she dared to roll her eyes on me I was full of anger but then I am a civilized person so I let go. It's an average Post Office location to be honest. The lines when I went on a Friday afternoon wasn't too long but each inquiries took them a while. I should have just done my shipping online to avoid having to wait and interact with the not so friendly staff so at least there's an option of self help. The building is nice and historical though. Actually one of the nicer post offices around. One of three in Hoboken (yes a one square mile town has 3 post offices, uptown, midtown, and downtown). There is always a line, but it always moves fast, with usually 2 people working the line. Good location, nice walk down by the water to get there, and they have everything you need well stocked. I won't go into a rant about how the post office should be shut down or completely revamped here, but will say that this location is one of the better ones out there. read more

Worst Customer Service, only surpassed by their brethren at the PO on Bergen Ave near Communipaw. Went to get a passport on two separate occasions, hours posted say they open at 9 yet both times, they've opened at least 15 minutes later than 9am. I wanted to get my passport expedited so i have to leave the line and get money orders. not a problem until I get a call back saying i didn't give them enough money to cover the expedited application WHEN I SAID I WANTED TO EXPEDITE THE PROCESS AT THE START OF OUR CONVERSATION. Where do I start SMDH!! I was waiting for a package from Amazon that states the package was delivered on Sunday and left by the mailbox. We have cameras in and out my building outside the building where the carrier claimed she dropped the package off by the mailbox. well news flash she did not even enter the building. You can see her standing on the wrong side of the building looking around expecting the door to open. anyway I called the office to speak about my package and I am guessing that she was the one that had the package because she was very nasty to me. I cannot understand why would they put delivered when the package was never brought in the building. I just want my package. To bad you can't even trust the people delivering mail. I've been going to this location for over a decade. You know when you read about US Mail employees "going postal".......... well...........I think this is where they train for it!!! Yes, uh huh, the employees here have hostility and disdain in their interactions with the public. I would have more sympathy if I had once seen a customer be rude or imperious here, but, unfortunately, I see and hear nice customers and watch the hostile employees. It is so consistently bad that it's actually FUNNY. I added a star if you like unintentional comedy! I once lived in Hells Kitchen and was a frequent visitor of the original Soup Nazi (the real man Seinfeld parodied so well) I also found that experience so bad it was good but I guess you have to appreciate that level of commitment to hostility for no apparent reason. I HAVE increased the review ANOTHER star for a great African American lady that is awesome here. She's always nice and doesn't look at me through the protective glass like she hates her job. I secretly pray the whole time I'm in line that I'll be lucky enough to get her help. Also, I love the old school building and historic architecture in here. Who wants to go to an ugly post office in middle America that looks like a Hallmark store in a strip mall? I don't. It IS a super cool gorgeous historic building. We need to appreciate those in Hoboken. One finally mystery I hope a future reviewer can solve for me: Why are the MAIL CARRIERS in Hoboken SO AWESOME!!!! They are THE BEST!!! You want the best ambassadors for Hoboken--it's our mail carriers. If I didn't have a husband, I'd throw myself at my mail carrier, that's how much I love these guys and gals! I agree about the asian woman who works there. She is a nightmare. I went to pick up my held mail after I got back from vacation. She told me I didn't receive any mail. I showed her the tracking on 3 packages that said they were delivered. She told me they don't hold packages for a mail hold. All my mail and packages for 3 weeks disappeared and the lazy B who worked there didn't even care enough to try to help me out or find anything, or even give me advice about who isn't such a lazy piece of crap that could help me. I never did recover anything and it's about 8 months later. Today I have packages diverted from my post office box and I dread having to deal with them again for anything. No wonder they're going out of business. Good riddance to the postal service and the losers who work for it. Also the posted hours on the door are incorrect. read more

Having had many packages lost by this USPS I called to check the status of my package as it was noted as "delivered". The woman answering the phone was lovely and directed me to the manager. He proceeded to berate me calling me an idiot for giving first my address than the tracking number associated with my item. Who knew that trying to find your mail was a crime? I would strongly recommend avoiding this location and especially calling this location - unless you want to be called names by a phone call tough guy! read more

The people at the actual post office have always been great in the 30 years I've been using them, and so are our regular carriers, but the drivers that deliver packages to the house are terrible. Last week for the umpteenth time they left packages right on our stoop in plain view and of course they were stolen. We were home all day and they didn't even bother to ring the doorbell. They are supposed to leave you a notice and take the package back to the p.o. but sometimes they can't be bothered. Some of them do what they are supposed to but at least 10 times we've had stuff stolen because they left it outside. This is a city of 50,000 people! You are inviting thieves to take things if you just leave it outside! Change your policy! read more
