If there isn't gonna be staff to work there and assist people in somewhat of a timely fashion then close down. I went this past Saturday (10/04) to open my P.O. box, since my packages keep getting stolen at my house. Online it said that they would print any forms I needed for this process. When I get to the teller he keeps insisting that they do not have printing services... how is that in a POST OFFICE??? how do you print labels, returns, etc.? It was upsetting because I had the necessary documents, so now I have to wait until Wednesday to go and risk my packages being stolen Monday and Tuesday while I'm at work. By far the worst post office i've ever been to. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone even if they lived right across the street. There were only 3 windows open at 3 pm on a Wednesday. I went in for a money order, which takes less than a minute at the counter, and waited a half hour on line to be told by the woman at the window (with the sign above her head in bold lettering stating "money orders") that she could not assist me. This was after she turned several other people in line away with various excuses(rudely, might I add), and eventually got up to check her phone and eat after turning me away. I then waited another 20 minutes and was finally assisted at another window. Don't waste your time, energy, or patience on this place. read more

There was one person in front of me and it literally took the worker 25 minutes to locate the lady package at Pick-Up Services. Every time I go to this PO the wait time get longer and longer. They should be two workers to help the customers so the line doesn't back up. It takes too long to look for packages with 1 person serving the people. My grandmother has been receiving her social security check via mail for years, Last month February my grandmother check was late , she calls social security to tell them , another check was reissued February 16th, February 20th the check was cashed . she called a few days ago to find out her check was cashed , she's an orderly women who depends on her money. it's March 5th she has t received her march payment yet, her checks use to come like clockwork. someone from the post office recommended informed delivery , what's the point her check isn't showing . it's shame on this institution , I have a feeling this is happening more often then we think. read more

This post office is a decent size but man some of the employees are so rude!! I have only dealt with dropping packages off or going up there to deal with a missing package. They do offer passports, stamps, sending and picking up packages, money orders and I am sure there are other things I am unaware of. The most intriguing thing to me about this post office is the look of it! The architecture is beautiful! It's looks like a building they would use for a museum or even art gallery. It definitely has been around for awhile! I was at this particular post office yesterday. Around 5oclock PM the was no long lines at all no wait at all .maybe it was because they close at 5:30 .i was there to send a letter over night it cost $25.00 to send it .the teller was very polite and helpful told me what to do. The big envelopes were right at the desk .I put my letter in the envelope and placed the to sender stickers on there .and returned it to the teller and I was finished .the atmosphere was decent and pretty clean, along with there armed security guards right there for the public safety. This post office is a very old post office and has been in the neighborhood for decades. It looks something like a old museum from outside. The inside is large.this Is considered the main post office in jamaica and it is the largest one also. It has been a fixture in Jamaica for ever. I know everyone is using the internet now and days and the post office is being used less and less. But we still need our post offices in the neighborhood and in nyc as a whole. As you see from the prior other 60+ reviews this post office is horrible. I don't know if it's a NY thing or if it's like this at every post office, but it's just horrendous. I've been to the post office in Brooklyn, the city & queens & it's all the same. The post office has three areas dropping off mail (money orders & stamps fall in that category) passports (lord help those people because that line is ALWAYS long) & picking up packages. I had missed my delivery of a package & scheduled a redelivery twice, but it never arrived, so I just went to get it. On a Saturday afternoon there was only one person working the window & about 5 or 6 people in front me. I was online for 45 mins smh. I've been places with more people in front of me & waited less time. This is the normal unfortunately for the post office. I don't know if it's lack of staff, or them trying to cut back, but it's ridiculous. I try to avoid going to the post office as much as I can. Of course the worker as well had no customer service skills & seemed like she didn't want to be there...but she couldn't not want to me there more than me! read more

Lines can be long. Service can be slow. It's a hit or a miss. Get your stamps, get your packages mailed and get out. Area can be intimidating for rookies. Place looks very out of date, but the classic look makes you feel like you traveled back in time when emails didn't exist yet. read more

Worst Post Office known to man. You would think that as a main branch they'd expedite the services offered here. One can only wish. I came here only after I was sent away from the Queens Village location for not having an appointment. Albeit, the website does not state that you'd need an appointment for a passport they were not willing to accommodate me. This branch is slower than a snail and a turtle participating in a half marathon. The passport line was concert long. It started off with one employee operating a window, an hours in two windows opened up, then it went back to one window, then after waiting 3.5 hours two windows open up. I waiting 3.5 hours to get a new passport. All the while there was woman going off because the employees ignored her and her qualms about her package. The icing on the cake was when a woman tried to cut the line talking about she was in front of me the entire time. read more

To be fair I have had one (1) positive experience here but I now know that was an anomaly and definitely not the norm. Generally my packages are left on my steps with no issue but once in awhile something requires a signature and I cannot be home. I received a text message (see attached pic) staying my two (2) packages were out for delivery at 9:22am on 9/11/19. First item delivered at 11:45. Second item I received a text message at 1744 hours (5:44 pm) stating unable to deliver because of no access (I live in a town house style complex on an open area but ok). Last message at 2046 hours (8:46 pm) informed me that I could pick up the package as of 1916 hours (7:16 pm) on 9/11/19. The post office closes to the public at 5:30 but I assume that means the next day as this has happened before where I've missed a package received this same message and package was available the next day. I went to the post office at 0900 9/12/19 to discover the pick up window doesn't open until 9:30. The pickup window then opened late with only one (1) person to take care of a line of ten (10) people. I was then informed that my package was out for delivery (see attached photo). When I informed the lady that I received a message update from USPS stating my package was available for pick up I was informed "it doesn't mean available for pick up just because it said available for pick up. We always make two (2) delivery attempts. It's out for delivery." As previously states I've missed deliveries before and no second attempt was made I simply picked it up the following day. I get home and to add insult to injury I find a delivery attempt notice. Mind you it was allegedly attempted yesterday but yet yesterday there was no notice left. I suspect that when the phrase "Delivery attempted- No access to delivery location" is utilized no delivery attempt was actual made but a reason has to be entered. I've only ever had one good experience with this post office and most of my experiences have been negative. Avoid at all costs. Edited to add: This package was not delivered by my regular mail lady because I received the other package yesterday but not this one, I got the notice today and I have a smaller package that I'm expecting today that says out for delivery and it's not here yet so this tells me this is the USPS postal package person that does this NOT my regular letter/small package carrier. read more

It's a really elegant structure across from the Jamaica Colosseum . Inside the building, it actually seemed quite small on the public service end. To the left is all the service windows if you wanted to talk to a postal worker. The line is sometimes long, but usually speedy. To the right is the Passport office, which is usually crowded with people until the Passport office closes. There's also some P.O. boxes on the right. And right in the middle, almost hidden, is a tiny little slot. (Well, on the left of it is a huge big depositor for packages, but...) With all that commotion in the Post Office, The tiny little slot was unoccupied. Deposit mail here. Done. Nice post office. Too bad there's not Automated Postal Machine or a Stamp Machine.... read more

I called 42 times in 24 hours and not once did anyone pick up, even though the line seems to go be busy at sometimes, the majority of the time no one picks up any calls at the MAIN POST OFFICE FOR THE REGION. God forbid a human being could be on the phone to help you in real life. Try the automated system and it won't understand what you're saying 99% of the time even with perfect English and if it can understand the tracking # input, the wait time is 1 hour and 40 mins plus to speak to a human being. This is absurd and USPS has completely severed all forms of communications between humans and humans. They want human to software interface which is a huge failure and should go back to human operators. read more

Came here yesterday to mail something, and had a pleasant experience. The building is old as some others have mentioned, but I think it only gives it character. When you walk in, you can go left for the service windows and go right for passport services as well as pick up services. I waited in line for about five minutes max, which is much better than some other local post offices I've been to. There were about 5 windows open which I thought was good and the employee who helped me was friendly. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The passport line was very long and didn't really look like it was moving, so I would definitely recommend making an appointment at a different post office if that is an option for you. I wasn't in line for passports so I can't speak to the effectiveness but from what other people are saying... it seems very time consuming. read more

They stole my package. My package was inbound into customs, then it was outbound out of customs, then it passed Jamaica New York Post Office, and then it stopped tracking. It keeps saying tracking unavailable. I opened up a case, but I think its safe to say they stole it. It contaioned designer clothing, easy to resell. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOTHING BUT THIVES!!! I HAVE LOST FOUR PACKAGES TO USPS ISC WAREHOUSES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS!!! BEWARE!!! AND THERE IS NO WAY TO STOP THEM!! Letting these people take care of your package is like asking a thief if they would like to steal it. They probably resell the items. And they lied and tried to blame customs. This Post Office is the worst. My package was stuck at this location from 4/21-6/2 and it is finally on it's way to me. I'll give it about 5 more days from Los Angeles to Salt Lake. I really think international packages should no longer go through this facility unless they are heading to the general area. I've had better timing through the western USA customs. I'll give 4 stars for two employees that I've encountered- to the female postal worker (wish I got her name) who held on to a package that was missing part of my address but she recognized my husbands name so she knew she'd seen him pop in looking for his package and to the postal man who normally delivers to my neighborhood and I never have an issue with never a lost package and I know his approximate time for delivery - On the days when a package says delivery attempt made non- secure area I know he's not the person en route to my house whoever this person is doesn't even attempt to deliver which is total BS when you have to make an unnecessary trip to the post office due to a lazy employee! The times that I have gone in to pick up packages the clerks are rude and lines are long expect to wait more than 1/2 hour read more

The worst post office. They always say they deliver my packages but don't, so I'm forced to come here. The lines are always ridiculous and no one cares. They made a separate line for package pick ups but it doesn't mean it's faster. There's only one person handling that window. On average the wait is 30 minutes and that's on a good day. Watch out for your parking meters outside as well. The meter maids are constantly trolling around to make sure they give you a ticket. I once was putting money in the meter when I noticed someone was writing a ticket. Unbelievable! Go to the post office in Holliswood or on Union Turnpike near St. John's. Both are smaller but more efficient. read more

This US Post Office location is by far the worst I've ever encountered. The staff is horribly irresponsible and show no care for the customers at all, the lines are never ending and the wait time on the line seems like a death sentence. From the point you walk in, it feels like you walked into a smelly, unkept gym locker room that you just can't wait to run out of for any possible excuse. The staff show no care for customers concerns, they are all there just to make money without doing any work. A bunch of lazy, worthless workers mooching off of tax payer money. The delivery persons are worst. They say they left a note in case of 'undeliverable packages', but cannot ring a damn doorbell (if their worthless lives depended on it) to let you know they are trying to make a delivery. They consistently mark my packages as delivered, days before it arrives. So I assume that it's been stolen. I then have to contact the sender, as well as USPS's 800 number in order to file a claim, since no one EVER answers the phone as this location. I go through all this stress, hoping to get a refund or replacement of my item(s), only to have it arrive days later. Why scan it as delivered when it hasn't, and won't be for at least another 24 hours? People do track their packages to see when it has arrived. This has happened numerous times. Been waiting since 11am, the lady before me came when they opened at 945 and she is with a baby. It's 130, and we're still waiting in the passport line. When I asked for help. Their hours are from 945am to 3pm, and the agent takes 1 hour lunch. When we asked for someone to help while the agent went to lunch, Masooma did 2 customers, and then went back to hanging around. I came into the post office to mail a few packages, get stamps and pick up a package that was not delivered...not sure why. The first 2 were seamless. There wasn't a line, the clerk was pleasant and efficient. Unfortunately and illogically, I had to go to another line to pick up a package. There is only one person working. No stars - the worst, the absolute worst post office I have ever utilized. Frequent lost/stolen packages from this post office - 4 since 2013. I track my packages via email/sms and the 4 lost/stolen(?) packages were never delivered and/or returned to shippers. Phones are rarely answered. In person, personnel extremely rude, unprofessional - almost like entering an uncilivized, militarirzed war zone. This post office needs to be revamped and restaffed. Privatize the USPS like the prison systems. Better personnel, administration, wages, etc. I believe then the system would run more efficiently. read more

I arrived here yesterday - Thursday, April 13th - at about 10am. I decided that since I had the day off, I'll finally go and renew my passport at the Post Office (which I presumed would be faster than mailing it in). The line was ridiculous, it wrapped along the walls and P.O. Boxes. I waited, waited and waited some more. The Passport Window then closed from 12 - 1pm to go on break. *2 hours now of waiting* I waited so long that my best friend was so kind as to deliver me food, as I did not have any breakfast yet. *2.5 hours now of waiting* Bless her heart! After the Passport Window re-opened from break, which they were late in returning, a worker started coming around and asking everyone on line what they were there for. Well, when he finally got to me *3.5 hours of waiting now* he informed me that they no longer accepted passport renewals, I am unable to renew by visiting the window and that I would only be able to mail it out. He directed me to the guy who would assist me. That guy provided me a 2-day priority envelope. I already had my application, old passport, new photo, check, marriage certificate for proof of my name change and even the correct address to the Passport Processing Center in TX. (where NY residents are instructed to send it to). It cost $6.65 to mail it out and I was out of there a little after 1:30pm. Mind you, I also made 8 phone calls to that Post Office's number (718)990-1090 between 11am - 1:18pm to try to speak with someone to ensure that I'll be taken care of before the window would close at 3pm, but they never answered the phone, not even once. That's pretty terrible. I called USPS Customer Service today, to ensure that I was given correct information by the worker who insisted that they no longer provide passport renewal services. It is confusing as the USPS website states that you are able to renew at specific locations. Screenshots are provided for reference. The representative I spoke with has forwarded the investigation to his manager and they'd get back to me within a few business days. Let's pop some popcorn and see what they say. read more
