Super disappointed by my recent trip here. Bottom line- the staff member who assisted me could not count, provided me with FALSE information, and cost me money in the end. Went to pick up stamps for my wedding invites. Took one and asked how much it would cost to ship it. Without weighing it the man who assisted me said it would be more than a regular 44 cent stamp. Said it would be a 64 cent stamp. He did weigh it and told me it was a 64 center. They did not have enough of these stamps. That's fine, I figured I would go somewhere else. I bought many of their stamps. But they guy charged me for 33 stamps when I only got 29. Turns out, he cant count. He was counting rows of 5 when there were only 4 in a row. I brought it to his attention, he counted them wrong again, until I told him that there were 4 per row. This seemed to blow his mind. In the end he gave me some more stamps but I was still one short. Super over it, I just left. So I took my finished invites, this time with additional weight added (a lightweight band) to the Indio post office. I asked them to weigh it and they said it only cost me 44 cents! This with additional weight since I went to the LQ post office. Now I'm stuck with 32 sixty four cent stamps because postage is non refundable. Thank goodness the helpful people at the Indio post office helped me catch this before I sent out my invites. We received no invites back so they were in fact, only 44 cents. Drive the few extra miles to Indio or Palm Desert to save yourself the headache. read more

They need to have a customer friendly person answering their phones. "That isn't my job" I'm just ____, is inexcusable for when I called to inquire about a missing package that their courier had passed onto a USP courier. How about offering a number or website I could have reached to receive the help I needed? Nope, I suppose that is asking too much of someone who works at this postal office. read more

Went in to pick up a package with the coral colored card that was left at my door. It was 5:01...pocket door was partially closed. There were 2 people finishing up with two clerks. The third clerk looks up, "Sorry we are closed." I asked if I could quickly pick up my package. "No, I'm sorry. We're closed." It would have been faster for her to walk around the corner and get my package than the short conversation took. She definitely didn't seem sorry. read more

I have been trying to reach them by phone for the last three weeks. I am away temporarily away and want my mail,forwarded to a temporary address I sent in the temporary mail forwarding document twice. No confirmation on the part. Epitome of the butt of every joke of a government facility ever. My mother in law lives in Bermuda Dunes. She has lived at her home for nearly 50 years. She is 83. The post office, after decades asked her to move her mailbox because the carrier has short arms, I mean the guy that took her place while she was on vacation had no problem delivering the mail. But, the regular carrier is just lazy. We installed bricks, but the carrier claimed she can not drive on to the property line. Susie Good, who is supposedly a supervisor of some sort, is completely inept. We sent her photos of other mailboxes on the same road that are far off of the property line and away from the road. Susie stated that she would get back to us before any action was taken, she didn't. They stopped my mother in-laws mail. Then, worse than that when she went to pick up her mail, before she even identified herself the guy behind the counter says, "are you the lady with the bricks?" and then proceeded to threaten her, "if you don't move that mailbox we are going to return your mail to sender." If you can avoid not living in the district of this post office, do it. Total bureaucratic garbage. read more

This is the best post office in the Valley! I have a small business where I ship packages out 5-6 days a week and this is where I take them all. I have never had a package lost with them and always receive excellent service. Yes they get busy, but they are friendly and efficient. read more

we were lucky enough to have ruthy as our letter carrier for the past decade. she has retired and on the personal days she took off we had spotty service. we are hoping that our new letter carrier will be half as good as she was, and half as pleasant. we all will miss her personality and wonderful service. read more

Does anyone else has problems with packages getting lost? I have had two packages go to the wrong address. The first one was found luckily, but the second one was not found and probably stolen. When you call and complain, they don't care. They make it likes it's your fault, you should have insured it. So that makes it okay to lose peoples items? Some post offices have closed. Gee I wonder why. Now I just use UPS for my delivery. read more

This is the slowest PO I've ever been in. My main complaint is when you have to pick up a package you have to walk around back and walk in, ring the bell and wait. I've literally stood them for a half hour waiting to pick up 1 box. Then when they finally appear after waiting they just come walking in in slow motion as if you disturbed them! I came I today to pick up a certified letter. There was a line to get to speak to one of the counter mail clerks. As I stood in line, I observed one of the counter clerks known as Bill. Bill was super friendly, patient, kind and professional to each customer he made contact with. It was incredibly refreshing to see good old fashioned customer service served up with a smile!!! It was clear that Bill is happy in his job and not just another "burned out" employee. Way to go Bill, you exemplify outstanding service and are truly a shining star! read more

The parking lot is a constant war zone. Also, their self-service drop off chute has been janky FOREVER and has never been fixed. It's literally smashed some of my packages before. It's so clunky and messed up that my envelopes somehow get stuck between the cracks. read more

Yet another lost letter by our "Commitment to Excellence in Delivery", Postal Service. This time a Certified letter containing an enclosed Postal Money Order. My certified letter tracking numbers and all, like the previous one I sent about nine months ago, has simply disappeared from the face of the earth. Sent on the 6th of April 2015 it had an expected delivery date of April 9, 2015 according to on-line tracking. That however, was the last tracking entry. And despite several telephone conversations with Customer Service, and filing a Claim which was given so-called "expedited" and "elevated" status, the whereabouts of this mail is still a mystery to both me and the USPS. My ignorance in not knowing is understandable. The Money Order is yet another story. A refund requires the purchaser to complete an inquiry form; pay a filing fee; and allow 60 days for a "replacement" to be issued provided the money order has not been paid. The question then becomes, paid to whom? What if it is paid to someone other than the Payee? Was I suppose to also insure the Money Order and now pay an additional fee for the USPS to conduct a search of their own tracking records? As in before, I am having a serious crisis in confidence where the USPS is concerned. It is difficult to understand why postal rates continue to rise when postal services continue to deteriorate. My disappointment in the USPS system cannot be made any clearer as witnessed by the several other number of single star ratings. It is as if the competition has taken away the will of the once reliable, responsible, and dependable USPS. I for one will from this point forward, look to available alternatives for this service. The last Agent I spoke to despite his indifference to my plight, and his inability to offer anything constructive toward a solution, thanked me for using the USPS and told me to have a blessed day. Mail theft at this location!!! Several pieces of my mail have been stolen on different dates. They need to put cameras outside near the blue mail boxes to see what is happening! The US Post Office has stated that Silverhawk Apartment's management does not allow them to delivery within the gate. If that is the case, why do they allow UPS, FedEx, Papa Johns, Flowers and Water Delivery? Silverhawk denies this claim. read more

They recently removed one of two drive-up mailboxes on Corporate Center Drive. I attempted to mail today and was unable to do so because mail was spilling out of the one remaining mailbox. It's possible that something was jammed, because it would seem unlikely that the mailbox would be overflowing if the mailbox is emptied according to the times posted on it. I attempted to call the Post Office to inform them of this situation, but nobody answered the phone. read more

Printed postage online to mail a package to the U.K. Dropped it off at the La Quinta post office (as I have been doing for over a year). Lo and behold it arrived in BRAZIL on August 8th. After numerous calls, waiting as long as over 40 minutes before giving up. The best answer I could get from the supervisor at this branch was "There's not much I can do about it." He told me to go online and file a claim, guess what? You can't file an international claim online. I don't get it? Any other business that makes a mistake goes out of their way to do everything they can to correct. But with the USPS I have to make the calls, wait forever to hopefully get through to someone, fill out paperwork and god knows what other hoops I have to jump through. I made no mistake other than choosing USPS over UPS, so why can't they fix their mistake and take care of their customers? Lousy service from a lousy branch. Advice people choose a different branch or ship via a different service provider and avoid lazy useless customer service people. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in my experience here today. Today is July 16th. On May 9th, I sent a Mother's Day card to my grandmother in Northern California. It took the Post Office 4 WEEKS to have my grandmother's card returned to me to say that I still owed $1.61 postage! So...I make a special trip down to the Post Office to pay the remaining postage as well as send out another card for my uncle's birthday. He also lives in the same town as my grandmother. Well...low and behold, I get a phone call from my uncle 2 days later thanking me for his card and my grandmother STILL hadn't received hers. WTF??? So...JUST YESTERDAY, I get it returned to my residence YET AGAIN for no apparent reason. So, AGAIN, I take yet another trip down to the Post Office to get a refund and was treated horribly by the staff members as well as the "Supervisor". All I got was a lot of eye rolling and loud sighs. Apparently when THEY make a mistake, they still can't make it right with their paying customers. All I was offered was them to send it out again "no charge". Pffft! No charge?!??! THEIR SCREW UP had already cost me postage, more postage, and now 3 trips out of my way to their office. An absolute FAIL in doing their jobs and in customer service. read more

If you have a PO Box or thinking of opening up one here-DO NOT. If you do expect other put people's letters in your box on a consistent basis and long lines. The most resent and upsetting experience is a delivery of a priority mail box from my sister who shipped from Hawaii. If it wasn't for her calling me to ask if I received it I would never have known. It was a Christmas presents for me and my family that I didn't get to open on Christmas Day because I was never notified by a clerk notice in my box that a package arrived on the 21st of Dec. when I went to the counter to ask if anything arrived they came out with the package. I asked for a verification of delivery and sure enough it did arrive on the 21st. It also noted that a notice to box holder was placed on the 26th-NOT TRUE! Because the day I went to counter without a notice was in the 28th. I asked to speak to a manager but they sent out a supervisor who was not empowered to do anything or to refund the postal amount. I do not normally post on Yelp negative experiences but this is my first time. I will be moving my mail out if this La Quinta PO ASAP. I've had enough issues yet no one is held accountable because it continues to be problematic. read more

Wow! Did I have a bad experience at the post office in La Quinta, Ca. last week. I went to get a flat rate box to send to the Philippines which I have done at various other post offices in the United States over the years. I asked Rachel for the price to send a medium and a large box to the Philippines. She had to look up the price....which of course is no problem. However, she couldn't find the Philippines in her computer and asked me if it was a country. I said yes. She then said that I must mean Japan. I said no and asked her if she was spelling it correctly. She gave me a dirty look and after I spelled Philippines for her, low and behold the country mysteriously popped up. She gave me the prices and then, I asked for one medium box and one large box. I asked her to make sure that it said International flat box on it. She argued with me that none of the flat rate boxes had "international" on it. I knew this wasn't true but I took the large box that she gave me. She said that they were out of the medium boxes. When I got to my car while putting the large box into it, I saw on the box "large flat rate box for domestic and INTERNATIONAL use". What is wrong with Rachel? She doesn't know the countries; she can't spell; and then argues with you. She doesn't even know her product and when one questions her, she argues with you. Either fire her or give her more training! I will definitely be using the Indio post office in the future.... read more

All the pens on the counter had been ripped off from the chains attached to the counter. Of course I had forgotten mine. I asked the employee if they had a pen I could borrow. "No, sorry" was the reply. It was frustrating because sticking out of her pocket was at least a half dozen pens.. terrible customer service read more

I've had many dealings with the post office since moving to La Quinta five years ago and I have found them always to be helpful, friendly and accommodating. I have both personal and business items going through this post office and I've never had any problems with either incoming or outgoing mail or parcels. read more

I live at the enclave condos in palm desert. We have the same older guy that delivers our mail. He is HORRIBLE!!!! He comes after 5 every day and takes him over 2 hours to finish the mail. Not only does it take 20 minutes to unload the mail truck cause he's always texting on his phone, but he is texted throughout the the whole time separating the mail. He's always standing around chatting with residents while most of us are standing there for over an hour to get our mail. Also it took a week for my mom to get her mother's day card in hawaii. It only takes 4 days to get things there. When the other postal workers cover for him it's quick, but him on his phone all the time and chatting with people is out of control. The SLOWEST worker ever. He needs to retire. Please trade him for someone else at the the enclave condos. 35751 gateway drive.. PLEASE!!!! read more
