I had a very disappointing experience at this USPS location today. This review is to report a bad worker with bob blond hair, older female. She was extremely rude, condescending, and dismissive toward several people in line, including me. Her tone was unnecessarily harsh and unprofessional, which made what should have been a simple transaction uncomfortable. When it was my turn to purchase a money order, she repeatedly questioned whether I had enough funds to cover the amount even after I clearly confirmed that I did. I was then instructed to step aside to complete a form, which I did promptly. However, when I returned moments later, she told me to get back at the end of a long line, despite the fact that I had only stepped aside at her request. This felt unreasonable and discourteous. What was especially frustrating was observing a noticeable difference in how she interacted with others. While she was abrupt and dismissive with several women customers, she appeared much friendlier and more accommodating toward a delivery worker behind the counter. The inconsistency in treatment was difficult to ignore and made the experience feel even more uncomfortable. The supervisor needs to check cameras and investigate her style to abuse clients. Customer service at a public service location should be respectful, consistent, and professional. I hope management provides additional customer-service training and reviews how customers are being treated at this branch, because no one should feel belittled while simply trying to complete a routine transaction. When I rated her service and selected on the screen how unsatisfied i was she mentioned my score. That is scary that they have access to the rating putting the customer in a confrontational situation. Her confronting me was not good. No usps should allow this. read more

Too bad so many negative reviews, cry babies. Think convenience! I've been going here since moving to Lake Hiawatha 12 years ago. Never had a wrong shipment error. Mistakes happen, even w/ UPS or FedEx. Maybe language barriers when shipping packages (have heard this with customers in front of me). Yes, long lines, SOMETIMES, you just have to know when to go. Like any other post office I've ever used. Today, Friday, 10:00 AM no other customers. My only complaint is don't take so many passport applications late on a Saturday. So, avoid afternoons on Saturdays! Plenty of extended weekday hours! But the hours are great, one lady acts like she knows you forever , and very convenient in Lake Hiawatha...the option is going out to Rt.46, and service no better. Convenient Handicapped spots. Nice selections of cards and gift cards. read more

The absolute worst post office in New Jersey. I say so having shipped from almost everyone especially in northern parts. The reason why I say this is because of the employees. The main desk rep is Michelle. This woman needs to go in for retraining of some sort. Having had numerous complaints filed against her for abusive behavior towards customers, having been on the receiving end of such behavior and filing a complaint, I have no idea how she is still working there. If you do absolutely have to go there, avoid this teller by all means. She will do things such as refuse packages that are over 20lbs because she is too lazy to lift them, will not accept cash if it is "too used", limit you to 5 packages if they are over 10lbs, will throw your packages even with fragile stickers and claim that thats how it is done, she will assert to have the absolute authority and the right to refuse people, and/ or packages. COMPLETELY AGAINST USPS POLICY. Employees like her that have no people skills and are always miserable, should not be the face of a post office. They should be somewhere in the back away from people. read more

They lost a package of mine and put in no effort to recover it. I've called multiple people and places suggested, as well as visited the store again and again. When they try tracking my shipping number it comes up as not sent yet. If the shipping label was invalid how come my package was not returned to sender? I walked into a government building, on camera, and dropped a package off for return. Now there's no refund, I don't have the item anymore, and there was no effort put in or any answers to what happened to my package. I will never ship through USPS again because of this experience. I am writing this, not as a paying customer, but as someone who decided against using this post office to mail my package. While waiting in line to pay for a box and packing tape to send a package, I overhead a conversation between an employee and a customer. the customer had mailed a package on Saturday December 16 thinking it would arrive to its destination in Florida before Christmas. However, despite paying for a "Priority Mail" box that is advertised as "Two Day" shipping, 9 days after shipping, the package was in Michigan- not Florida. The manager told the customer that he would "track" the package which did absolutely nothing to appease the customer. Nothing on the information printed, nor on the shelves of the post office stated anything relating to 1, 2, 3 day shipping taking longer than that time, and the customer agreed with me that, had the package taken 4 or 5 days, he wouldn't be so annoyed. However, this package, after 9 days, was nowhere NEAR being delivered. I'm sure any reasonable person would think that, by paying for a "Two Day Priority Mail" service to send a package from New Jersey to Florida would think that a week would be more than enough time. Needless to say, after finding that the shipping could not be trusted, and hearing the horrible attitude of both the employee and the manager, I decided to take my business to the UPS in the neighborhood. It never ceases to amaze me how someone who works in a customer service position with holidays and Sundays off can be so blatantly rude to customers. read more

Awful and bizarre experience. Made an appointment for passport, showed up promptly. Clerk (Michelle?) pushed me to side for 30 minutes to keep seeing other customers lining up. I inquired regarding timing as I was hoping to be home by a certain time as my mother was wrapping a minor surgery and I wanted to be around as she arrived home, and she melted down and started screaming at me. Called me "brain-dead" for scheduling a 15 min passport appt the same day as a minor surgery for my mother. Bizarre and rude experience. I would avoid. They seem short staffed and very stressed. read more

Come on people, negative ratings for this wonderful PO? Sometimes the post office makes mistakes and sends things to the wrong place, but I find these people are on it! They think about how to get the package or mail to me and asap. Very personal and attentive service. Caring staff and what a plus to have the PO boxes available 24 hrs! That's because we are local people in a rural area and they choose to grant us such niceties and consideration. read more

One of the most horrible experiences I have ever had. Made an appointment for a passport renewal which went smoothly at first. Woman at the front desk was trying to do too many things at once and I had left with missed information on my application. Got a call 20 minutes before closing stating that i needed to give her my social security number over the phone. When I told her I was not comfortable with this (since that is not a safe thing to do) she said I had no other option but to come in. She hung up before I could tell her I was on my way. I left the dinner I was in the middle of to drive 20 minutes back. When I got there, she said had already mailed out the application while missing my information and said she "would not be dealing with me today and that it's my problem now". Horrible customer service, as she raised her voice and got hostile rather than trying to explain the situation. Poor management of applications will likely lead to me having to redo my application due to the fault of a worker who couldn't be bothered to check that my application was complete once mailed. Would NOT recommend. Enticed by the offering of photo services on site but will not be returning ever and advising against for anyone else. read more

I love this post office! They never have long lines, so I come here when I need something mailed with the staff assistance. I usually use the drop off box though that is located outside. The only reason I would ever not come here, but to Parsnippany post office is when I need to drop off a larger mail. Lake Hiawatha location doesn't have a large drop off box that fits boxes. This is the only disadvantage of this location. The staff is really nice and tries to serve people pretty quickly. read more

Worst service ever! It has never happened anything like that! Neve! HELENE is really a rude lady. She should not be at the front desk, her costumer service is below every kind of imagination. I ask her for a service, the cheapest one. I have already packed my shipping. And she ask me ten times if it was a book (Because it is cheaper) I went "it is not a book, I need it to be shipped as it is". Again she was rudely trying to ask me what I was shipping. I just said I wanted to ship my package with the cheapest shipping service. She gave me an envelope and she told me open your package and put it in the envelope and then she went "next costumer". I was speechless. I went ... "no This is my turn and I want to ship my package with the cheapest service! I thought I was clear from the beginning". She took my package my money and LITERALLY SHE THREW MY PACKAGE Thank in a container 7 feet away from her. I asked her why she needed to throw it like it was an used napkin? No answer. She did not know what it was inside and if she broke it ???????????????. . Respect, kindness and in this case take a great care of packages are the first things you need to have and you need to do for a great costumer service.
