The Lakewood Colorado post office consistently loses outgoing mail and packages and fails to deliver mail and packages to me (that I can see via Informed Delivery). I constantly receive mail that belongs to neighbors nearby and people not nearby, that I promptly bring to the post office or put into the correct mailboxes myself--as if I need a third job! When I take time to report this, I get phone calls from people at this post office who give me an attitude, lie, gaslight, and make excuses. There is never any accountability or consequences for the postal workers who are guilty of theft, loss, and misplacement of mail because this has gone on for years and continues. I'd like to remind them that mail theft and loss due to gross incompetence is not a victim-less crime. These entitled folks receive salaries and benefits and yet cannot do their basic job of delivering mail. They appear to have nothing but contempt for consumers and complain incessantly about not making enough money. The USPS is currently bankrupt and I hope they close permanently. They have wasted enough taxpayer dollars while causing serious harm to taxpayers. The ratings here on Yelp suggest that this post office should take steps to improve or else close already. I have let everyone I know to stop sending things via U.S. mail. All shipping carriers are bad but USPS is egregious. Mail theft is a Federal crime. I hope wrongdoers (corrupt or incompetent postal workers or those who receive other people's mail and keep it) are prosecuted for it. For laughs, I am attaching a horrible USPS policy stated in writing that when they lose a package or letter, that a recipient should ask the sender to send it again. Wow--instead of doing their jobs ethically and competently, they expect people to spend more $$$ when USPS drops the ball. Went to send a package to someone in the military over seas. I filled out all the needed paperwork and also communicated to the agent that this was going OVERSEAS TO SOMEONE IN OUR MILITARY. i had gone to this post office 3 years ago for my passport, the first time i went i signed the wrong papers on accident & whoever the guys name was which i wish i really knew was such a rude person! he had such a nasty attitude the whole time. both me and my mother were very upset at the way he talked to us but not only did he treat us this way he treated every customer who was in line the exact same way! instead of having me just grab a new paper and redoing it right then and there he made me leave the room and get a new paper and i had to come back a whole other day. the 2nd time i went he was still having a nasty attitude and wasn't polite at all, im assuming his coworkers are okay with the way he treats customers. if u don't enjoy working where you work then don't work there no need to give people crap because u don't like ur job. This may be the worst post office in America. Actually, I hope it is, because I can't imagine ever having to deal with a worse one. They constantly mishandle and misroute packages, when they don't straight-up trash them. I'm looking at the tracking history for a package that made it all the way to them, and all they had to do was put in the truck for my mailman to deliver. But then some moron loaded it on the wrong truck and now it's back on the other side of town where it will likely spend the next couple of days before getting shipped back to these chuckleheads. And that's a relatively minor case of incompetence. I've seen them send my packages on coast-to-coast tours of the United States before they arrive, weeks or even months late. I honestly don't think they've ever delivered a package of mine on time. But hey, I get my junk mail like effing clockwork every day. And then there are the packages that don't arrive at all. I recently received an empty bag with a giant slice though it and a note that said "It was like that when we got it." Sure it was, guys. At least it showed up, which is more than I can say for several other packages of mine that just disappeared without so much as a "sorry for sucking so hard" from the USPS. I realize that a lot of my problems with the USPS aren't specific to this post office, but they're the tip of the crappy spear here. And they know it, too. Lines for service are at least a half-hour each visit, typically because there's two people working the counter at most. They work at their own pace, too, and that pace is glacial. They also act like doing their jobs is physically painful to them. My last in-person visit involved me dropping off a package with a pre-paid label on it. Basically, I'd already done 99% of the work for them, and all they needed to do was scan it, put it on a cart, and hand me a receipt. But because it was five minutes to close, the rep acted like I just asked her to clean the bathroom with her tongue. It was all I could do to bite my own tongue and just walk out. read more

My package has been held by them because I wasn't able to sign for it, I tried picking it up but refused me though I showed my ID/address and they sent it back which was a very important package. They sent notification saying that there was an attempted delivery on my package and that it was available for pick up so I use my lunch hour to come down and wait 15 minutes in line to find out that that's just a general notification they send out when they're understaffed and don't have enough delivery man to deliver the mail. So I've been coming to this post office for over 25 years, and today was such an awesome time at this place. Not being sarcastic. It had absolutely nothing to do with the post office or employees, rather all of the 15 patrons standing in line and several of them elderly. One was an old lady who really needed help taping a box and couldn't quite figure it out. Then what appeared to be a guy in his late 20's early 30's, walked right over to the lady and figured it out with her. Another gentleman looked about 60, went over there and said "see, the is why we need these young whipper snappers!" His name was Tony and he was such a delight! He had the entire line at the post office laughing and joking, and the line was so long but these acts of kindness from complete strangers made the wait easy and bearable. Additionally that old lady left her phone at that back counter where she was taping her box and the gentlemen got it back to her and she shouted "Don't tell my husband!". She had the entire post office rolling! Also, Tony had us rolling with his Rodney Dangerfield impressions! Best day at the post office ever with a diverse crowd and a great mix of ages! I have loved and supported usps as far back as I can remember. I have used them for all personal and business needs. I recently had to make a claim because a product I sent was damaged. it should have been covered by insurance and would have been in the past. beware: the insurance policy has changed and if you want to make a claim you have to have the actual destroyed item or the post office will not honor any insurance they claim will be covered under the so-called "insurance" they offer. they have made it incredibly difficult for a business to offer good service to their customers. unfortunately, I will no longer be using their service until this policy is changed. I love you, usps, but until your leadership is changed and the man at the top is replaced I will no longer be using you to ship anything of value. read more

My experience is not at the Post Office but with our mail carrier. I live at an apartment complex. We recently lost our regular carrier to another route. He was the best. Always checked with the office to see who moved in/out and kept mail moving to the right people. The new carrier doesn't seem to give a crap. He shows up late in the day, looks sloppy, puts mail in the wrong boxes CONSTANTLY and it seems that he simply can't read. Even though the mail is addressed correctly, it gets into the wrong box. He refuses to check with the office with questions just goes on his merry way leaving very frustrated people behind. Please just try harder! read more

I'm one of those filthy, dirty millennials who grew up on email with no one to teach me how to send snail mail. I frequent this office for our business. To date I've not had any issues with staff issues or rude service. It's always been pretty straight forward. I do realize I am working with the US Postal service and not burger king where I get it "your way right away" and there may be a line and there may be procedures that limit the way I think things should operate. I guess being a flexible and understanding person makes me different. ;) Of course I wish the lines were shorter at times and everything was easier but let's not foget they are still the USPS and not Burger King. read more

Lakewood Colorado Post Office and US Mail has treated me horribly. I sent two boxes of personal items to Northern Ireland, United Kingdom on 11/27/21 and nearly three months and not delivered. Twice both boxes sent to wrong country. Dublin, Ireland is not Same country as Northern Ireland, United Kingdom so boxes both times sent back to USA. Make an appointment for your passport and don't just show up. 2.) Bring your own tape if you need to mail a big package! They might charge you for using theirs. 3.) Ok, today I was the asshole customer I will fully admit. Now I know why everyone is bitchy at this station, its their employees like Rob who was totally WORTHLESS! I attempted to explain that I never received notice for a missed delivery, and was told "I don't believe you"... Really?! Why lie and not bring in a slip to make it harder on everyone! Not only was he rude and condescending, dude was lazy, extremely slow, and had super offensive b.o. (ITS CALLED MOUTHWASH, SOAP, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TOILET PAPER, USE IT)! After he typed in a tracking number wrong that I wrote down for him to look up he attempted to tell me that I was "wasting his time". Who says this and is allowed to keep their job?! He was not pleased when I called him out for not being able to type, probally why he took 45 minutes total to not find my package. So, after 30 minutes more of waiting this genus brings out a slip of paper printed from the usps site, (the same one I had loaded on my IPhone that he "couldn't see" when I first attempted to explain my situation). Then he explained he had no idea where the package was, and said they would ask the driver when he came back.... Really, in 2012 with TRACKING you loose a package then tell me you can't contact the driver... YOU HAVE ONE JOB, CAN'T DO IT THEN SAY, "OH WELL" in regards to telling him the contents were time sensitive. Needless to say "F"-bombs were dropped along with the hopes that the postal union is crushed so they can easily eliminate morons like Rob! So, -1 star if it was possible and a package in limbo that most likely will be destroyed now. No wonder the USPS is in major trouble, it's their spot on customer service! For the record, up until today I was OK with this USPS location-albeit the lines were ALWAYS long, I had 2 decent experiences (both to pick up mail on hold). But, now the real post office shines through. Maybe if I had gone in the morning I wouldn't have met with such rudeness. Ironically, the guy I dealt with was super nice the previous visit when I had picked up mail on hold; he's an older hippie dude with long grey-silver ponytail to boot. Today was just not my day...I waited behind 8 other people, 3 employees, and when it was my turn I asked if they had the sticker address as this is what I had used before when I sent a package. He was testy from that moment-and said no, write the address on the box. OK, different from downtown (the 20th street location-no problems EVER there). When I brought my package back the Nazi came out. Old hippie dude went postal Nazi on me-because of the address. He starts asking, repeatedly, if my address was a street, and I said "No, it's just 123 Apero"; that was just not right. He started getting frustrated and angry with me-"what is it? is it a street? a blvd? a drive?". I just kept saying-"its just 123 Apero". That's the address (not the real one for this yelp review, but you get it). I had mailed 3 packages, 2 from downtown, and 1 from this location and never before had I been interogatted and belittled for the address. It was as it is-123 Apero. I mean, my parents up north have an address similar-24210 Ferndale, no street, no avenue. Just the number and name. He then got pissy over my handwriting-big and girly, and nastily asked "so, what is it-Apero or Aparo" ...he was just being a dick at this point because for the past minute, over razing me whether Apero was a street, blvd, drive or avenue, he had repeated Apero. So he knew very well, it was Apero not Aparo. He was saying it, and had said it half a dozen times... I just wanted to get out of there as quickly as I could and was mentally kicking myself for not driving further to the UPS office. When I paid him with a $20 he complained that everyone had twenties and grumbled. Overall, this was a suck experience; lines I can kinda deal with, but RUDE postal employees, gees-I'll pay extra and got to FedEx or UPS.
