The staff here are always nice and helpful. They have what I've needed for mailing. I like that it's the airport location so packages leaving town ship out faster and they are open late! What I don't like is the really rough parking lot that should be resurfaced. This US Post office does passport applications, as well as shipping and mailboxes. The reservations were booked at the other US Post offices near my residence, but luckily, the Southeast US Post office near the airport had openings for a reservation. It was a few weeks out when I had placed the reservation in the online portal though. The appointment time was at 3:00, but I was called early! The process was fairly simple, however, payment methods included limited options. The team member mentioned that I could visit a bank nearby and come back to finalize the paperwork process. After I got back, it was around 3:30 and I had put my reservation ID back on the check in paperwork at the front of the US post office location. I only needed to wait another 15 minutes until my name was called again. Service was fast! Hours for this location are Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M until 9:00 P.M and 8:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M on Saturday. This US Post office is closed on Sunday. Full retail services such as stamps, shipping, PO Box access, and passport acceptance and photo services are available at this location. There were a lot of parking spots available here too. It was easy to get into, one way direction, and back out to Sunset road. I'd recommend this location if you're looking for US Post office services! read more

I went inside to send out a Certified Return Receipt letter so I went to the Counter. Angela assisted me. She was so nice. THANK YOU for your level of customer service. I appreciate that nowadays because when it's genuine and you like people, it's a pleasant experience. Also purchased Forever stamps. The package was returned to me after USPS opened it and inspected the contents. During that process, the original shipping label and tracking number were removed or damaged, making the package undeliverable. Because the tracking label was no longer attached, the package was sent back to my address instead of being delivered to the buyer. As a result, the buyer did not receive their order, the shipment was delayed, and I am now being forced to purchase a new shipping label at my own expense. I am very disappointed with how this package was handled, as the removal of the shipping label directly prevented the package from reaching its destination. I did report it. Yep, can't believe I'm giving the USPS a 5-star. They earned it - or at least the CSR I had today (and during a prior visit) did. Needed to send a few certified mail items so I went early on a weekday and was in-n-out in no time while receiving "service with a smile". If details matter to you, this postal clerk answered a few questions cheerfully (also competently) and was a younger black man who clearly enjoys doing his job with pride. Good service. Clean location. Got my passport done here. I did not schedule an appointment and was able to walk in and wait and got it done.

A packaged I ordered from eBay was improperly scanned as an Amazon return and on the tracking it showed as 'delivered.' When I spoke to the supervisor, he said there's no way to get the package or to guarantee that they'll send it back to them. He said "could take 7 days or 2 months or not show up at all" Then said I needed to file a claim online and that's all the help I got. What I ordered wasn't expensive but is irreplaceable. Our passport appointment went so easy. Thank you Viola for your help today. Our appt was set for 9:30a-11a. We were instructed to sign in, sit and wait. We were called at 10:15a by Viola and left at 10:45a. She looked through our documents to verify everything was correct. They have a tape measure against the wall which was helpful to us because I wasn't sure how tall my 3 kids were. Viola said they do pictures for $15, "when their camera is working" lol. I'm glad we went to take our photos at Walgreens for $16.99 just in case USPS ran into tech issues. Some things Viola told me that might be helpful for someone else: * passports issued to minors are valid for 5 years. It is not renewable so if they need to travel internationally again they need to go through the whole New Passport process again *passports issued to anyone 16 years old and above are valid for 10 years and renewable by mail or online 5 years after expiry. *photos need to be taken within 6 months *for children with separated biological parents, if child is already 16 they only need 1 parent to attend the appointment *for children with separated biological parents, if child is under 16 they need a notarized document from non-custodial parent to authorize issuance. Worst Place Ever, if i can give them a 0 i will. i had an appointment at 6:15pm got there at 6:00pm just like the email said to get there 10 mintues before the appointment. It was 6:32 i asked the guy in the front if anyone was going to call me and he said she will be back at 6:30pm and that she was lunch. i sat back down, i went back up @6:50 and i ask him and he's like oh she's right (helping the line) instead of helping the people that have an appointment for their passports, and i waited for her to call me and it was already 7:15 and went up there and asked her and she said " the line is more important and is our priority" and i stated to her that i have an appointment, and she didn't care and said come back tomorrow. when i made my appointment according to MY schedule for a reason. very unprofessional, disrespectful. worst place ever, and even the staff is horrible. read more

Fancy, fully stocked with all postage envelope's, clean, neat and more organize than most. It's quiet and has a library feel to it. They have a whole area that is designated for passports. Lots of parking and located across the street from the airport. Highly recommend this location. read more

Truly some of the most miserable people work here. They make people wait for hours for passport processing and they have no bathrooms. They tell us to go to the gas station down the street when the gas station has no bathroom. Sitting there waiting for four hours only to be told by someone who works there that they cut off all of the processing services now. I love this post office and its wonderfully friendly representatives. However, it's almost impossible to get Priority Mail boxes of any size. Instead, I was instructed by employees to use Priority Mail FLAT RATE boxes and scratch off the words FLAT RATE. This caused added postage fees amounting to over $40.00 after receiving payment from EBay. I learned that even though the words. FLAT RATE was covered with black magic marker over every surface on their boxes, the boxes are still scanned in as FLAT RATE rather than as regular Priority Mail. USPS, PLEASE ADVISE THIS POST OFFICE TO MANAGE THEIR BOX SUPPLIES BETTER SO NO ONE ELSE INCURS OUTRAGEOUSLY PRICED SHIPPING FROM THEIR BAD ADVICE, AND HAS APPROPRIATE SHIPPING BOXES IN STOCK ON THEIR SHELVES!!! I have been coming to this post office for years, and I have never been disappointed. Sometimes the lines are long, depending on when you go, but the staff is always courteous and helpful, the space is organized and clean, and they have always taken care of whatever I needed. I don't feel like they take excessive time to do things, like at some government jobs. I have to say that this post office is much better than anything I had back in Illinois. We also did get our passports done here, which is a long process. When coming to get your passports done, expect a system like at the DMV and be patient. read more

The James C. Brown United States Post Office is the main branch in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. It is the largest United States Post Office (from this point forward shortened to post office) that I know of in Las Vegas. Overlooking this magnificent vista of Harry Reid International Airport reaching towards the Las Vegas Strip skyline, this is a large facility that includes an oversized public area and administrative offices. At this flagship Las Vegas post office there is an expanded offering of services that includes passport processing, self service kiosk, money orders, and so on.    Because this is the flagship post office they provide expanded hours of operation. As numerous Yelpers have stated, this post office is open the latest in Las Vegas and has the latest drop off. For example, if I was working past 5 o' clock, when a nearby post office has cut off sending the mail for the day and I had something important to send, I would drive here where the cut off time has been at 9 o' clock.     This post office is dedicated to slained Postal Worker James C. Brown (1937-1996). When you walk inside the building there is a memorial dedicated to him. His plaque is well worth reading.    This post office is so large that there are two separate lobbies. They are spacious, clean and take in the Las Vegas sunshine. The entrance lobby holds a colossal collection of private mailboxes. Sprinkled in this large sunlit space are tables and a self service kiosk.    The inner lobby to the left holds the long postal services counter and the passport processing window. There is a long cue that leads to the elongated counter. Alongside the cue are greeting cards, gift cards, and shipping supplies for sale.    Today this post office came through for me. Who would think that it would be a stressful ordeal trying to buy a  money order from a nearby agent. For two days it was an ordeal for me to buy one in order to pay my rent that is due by the fourth. Walmart's money order system was down. Supposedly 7-Eleven's was down. And Terrible's twice gave me the runaround. After exhausting my resources, I tried the post office. From my experience, this post office lays to null the idea that private businesses always give better customer service than the public sector. Those three private businesses that I mentioned above failed me. However, when I entered the inner lobby of this post office, a woman greeted me and confirmed that they sell money orders. Later the man that processed my money order was upbeat and friendly. This is a prevalent attitude here. He apologized for the wait. Little did he know that for that moment the post office was my hero. I filled out the money order in the sunlit entrance lobby relieved of the stress of finding a place for money orders.      Today was my second visit here since I became a Yelper in 2011. The last time I visited here was to buy stamps. Just like this visit, they were upbeat and friendly.  There is one flaw and that is with the parking situation. That flaw is that there is a lack of a traffic signal to exit onto westbound Sunset Road. This is a heavily traveled six lane highway. The planners should have designed the site so that traffic also exits onto Paradise Road which feeds into Sunset Road. The two times that I stopped by here, I parked at the nearest shopping center to the east where I enjoyed coffee in Magnum Coffee, then walked a short distance along Sunset Road. From this small shopping center, the back roads lead to Spencer which has a traffic signal at Sunset Road.   Apparently this post office does not handle the local mail services in the 89119 zip code. It is a shame that this post office is a close drive from my residence yet does not service the local mail. To deal with my local mail and carrier complaints, I have to drive much further to the dreaded location between Paradise and Joe Brown.   With the money order situation being so dire at times in my area, I see return visits to the James C. Brown Post Office. Additionally I see myself returning for stamps and other postal services. ***L.O.L. Just after finishing this review my landlord sent me a letter that they will no longer be accepting money orders as of June. Still I plan to return here. read more

You know I've been searching forever to book an appointment with Clark county and the library that do passport services. It's annoying because with those you have to book an appointment. Well this post office has made applying for a passport SO EASY. They do walk-ins, as long as you come here early in the afternoon! What a life saver. Any questions of any kind can be answered by the cheery staff at any post office. Both business and personal experiences can be taken care of here. The business area of the post office handles mail in a high end way. The business entrance is located off Paradise where the employees enter to start their days work. When I make a stop here for my boss, the staff always smiles at me. If the mail white bins are too many the wonderful staff always helps load and unload these bins on needed basis. Who knew so much beauty could be behind the post office? If you have a few minutes and need to clear your mind then come ground yourself while you mail that letter. The business side of the building is close to the road with easy access to get you back in the saddle of the day. Drop off that business mail and take a walk through the trees and enjoy some Paradise during the days hectic schedule. The main entrance to the post office is located on Sunset with ample parking to get you in and out. The building accommodates many individuals at once to send that holiday cheer. If you have to wait till the last minute the kiosk is open after hours for your cards and packages. Most of the time the staff are exceptional individuals which will go beyond the call and duty of their job descriptions. The company rewards their employees with an honest wage and promotes from within. Let's help keep the post office alive by mailing something to someone we love for than once a year. Let's remember to go the extra mile this year for those that we love and all that we just consider. Send some snail way in the way of hugs to a mail box near you. Be a pen pal to that friend over seas and say hello the only way a post card can do. Surprise that one you love with a card in the mail just to say how much you are thinking of them. Okay, I get it. The U.S. Government is nervous about what's happening in this Country. But postal workers telling me not to take pictures inside is one thing, but not to take photographs [for YELP] of the outside of any USPS facility is taking it to an extreme. But okay, I'm not interested in being on the FBI or Homeland security's radar, so I will abide by what they ask. Now for the review. The workers at the (central Las Vegas USPS) Sunset Station are unpleasant, and not because they're overworked, as the lines here are minimal. Maybe they were busy over the holiday season, but that's no reason to take it beyond the "season" and continue the sullen attitudes into the new year. Come on, people, you are, after all, government workers, paid by the very people you are supposed to serve. At least have a little common decency and crack a smile ever so often.
