Second update: The post office service has been much improved over the last few years. That terrible mail carrier doesn't work our route anymore and ever since then I haven't had a single issue with receiving mail, having to sign for it, etc. I also frequently go in person to mail things or pick things up and they're helpful and friendly. How the hell is it justified to rate our Post Office with only one star? Who are these fellow Lompocans that are so callow and base regarding the semi- civil servants that toil 6 days a week to deliver our letters and packages? I have NEVER received anything less than top-notch, 5-star service at our PO. They cannot control the cost, but all the personnel that I have interacted with (since 1997) have been kind, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. read more

I'm not exactly sure what has happened over the last few years, but the Lompoc Post office has really gone down hill with the delivery of packages and the PO Box service. The fees for having a box is approximately $220 per year & the staff will not put small items in box or use the lockers. Why should a paying customer have to wait in a 10 mile long line to pick up something the employee was too lazy to place in box or locker!!!! I would like to take my business elsewhere, but then all my 10 year old business contacts will have to change. I don't mind paying for a service, but when it is not handled professionally by the company, the customer ends up paying more because our time is valuable as well. Lately, the tellers at the front are limited, maybe 2 staff with 10-15 people in line. Why are we paying more for so much less now??? Sad. Even attempting to speak with supervisor, nothing changes and excuses are always made. read more

We were expecting a package that was marked as "Out for Delivery". It was supplies for my mom's insulin pump. Tracking said it would be delivered by 9pm. It wasn't. As of 9:48 the tracking now says "Your item is being held at the post office at 9:46 pm on October 15, 2024. This is at the request of the customer." We made no such request. These supplies already are only allowed to be just in time by Medicare and it was delayed a day already because of the holiday. Your lazy ass driver is going to kill my mom read more

I was scolded the other day by an employee for using out an outdated form, copies of which this post office had given me a short while ago, which the employee doubted. After submitting the correct form, I asked for a few copies of the new version of the form. The same employee who had just lectured me about using an outdated form gave me more copies of the allegedly outdated form. When I pointed this out, the employee claimed she didn't know. Well, Madam, I didn't know either when I filled in a form your post office had given me. At least it was hilarious that you hand out the very form you tell customers not to use. read more

I KNOW they are understaffed. I KNOW there's a ton of work, I GET it! What I DON'T GET is my MAIL!! I can not believe they had had missed packages 8 times in less than a calendar year. I'm ONE HOUSE on one side of the street, which is a cul-de-sac, and you have to drive by twice to deliver this block.... WTAF? 7 of the 8 misses are FABRICATED reasons which are laughably proved by video... cannot believe how bad this is. read more

Minus the 1 star rating. 0 stars. They don't deliver a package and then tell me I need to pick it up from the post office. They never attempted to deliver the package to begin with. No verification letter. Nothing. I guess when the mail person is lazy they are allowed to lie and make things up. Now I need to register a complaint with the post master and drive all the way across town to pick up a tie in a plastic mail bag. Rename your staff the bail-man instead of the mail-man. read more

The Lompoc Branch of the USPS looks like your typical small town post office but with a great staff and quick delivery it offers so much more than stereotypical post offices. Having lived here my whole life I have come to know the staff at this branch and can say with certainty that they are all really kind and caring people. They are a pleasure to talk to and are always on the ball. The only problem with this office is it's somewhat small for a town of 40k. Sometimes the line goes right out the door. This was somewhat alleviated by the automated shipping machine that was added a couple of years ago but now when the line for the counter goes out the door, the line for the auto machine goes out the other door... Reliability-wise, this post office get's amazingly high marks. We have had a P.O. Box at this office for over 10 years and last month when there was a banking error and our payment plan didn't go through, they knew something must be wrong and informed us about it right away. By telling us that saved us from a lot of potential business lost. For this I am extremely grateful. From the home perspective, this post office is always quick with delivery and to my knowledge has never lost a package we were expecting. I hear from people that their local mail service is slow and unreliable, well in Lompoc, that's certainly not the case! read more

Received a package that was obviously crushed. Driver left it on my porch and bailed. tried the customer "service" line. No help. Useless computer drone. Now I'm supposed to create an account to get compensated? Caught up with the driver, and he was indignant that I would call him on it. His excuse? "It came a long way." What is the purpose of having a phone number for people to call if no one is going to answer it? I called the number listed online for three days in a row only for no one to answer. I couldn't even leave a message. So I called the 800 number instead. I needed to put in a service request to have my mailbox fixed because the lock seems to be broken. I was able to put in the service request. A few days later I get a call from the Lompoc post office about the service request. The woman was quit rude. She spent more time wondering why I didn't call the local post office number rather than the 800 number. I explained to her that I did call for three days straight and no one picked up. Then she was asking who needs to service the mailbox, the post office or the customer. I told her I didn't know which is why I called the post office. She then attempted to tell me to call the hotline AGAIN and tried to give me the number while I was driving. I ended up losing the signal on my phone. So I stopped into the post office instead. The guy at the counter was nice enough but only seemed interested in getting my contact information. When I asked him if there was a number I could call, he said not to worry about it because their custodian is really good about things. I wanted the number anyway in case things didn't happen in a timely manner. Low and behold the number he gave me is the same number I couldn't get anyone to pick up. All I want is to be able to go to the centralized mail box in my neighborhood and get my mail. I was lucky enough to catch the carrier the other day to get a weeks worth of mail. Reading all these old reviews it appears that no answering the phone is a common occurrence at this post office. read more

I've been trying to get certified letters delivered to my door - like they are supposed to. I ask for redelivery online. I'm here. I'm home. I'm even in the living room, by the door, reading, waiting... And they don't get out of their van to ring my door or knock on it. FedEx came to the door same day I was expecting the USPS. Why can't the USPS get out of their darn van??? I wouldn't say anything if this happened ONCE, but were' talking 5 times in the past 2 weeks while my regular carrier was away. read more

I don't know what it is but our mail carrier is always giving us the wrong mail or misplacing our packages/mail with the wrong address. Jut recently it showed that a package was delivered to my home but obviously nothing came. Went to the post office last week (can't talk to anybody on the phone from that location, ever) and the supervisor said it was delivered to the wrong address and she will have him redeliver that afternoon. A week went by and I haven't gotten anything. I re inquired about the package and she said "the carrier told me it got taken care of!" I had left them all my information, would have appreciated some kind of update... anyway, still waiting for my package... read more

I love the Lompoc post office! The staff is mainly pretty helpful and friendly here. I know many of the employees by name and even though I'm not a frequent customer and they know my name as well, which is really nice. There are many great things about this location but I think my second fav thing after the staff friendliness is the automated postal machine. This machine is so great, all you need to use it is a debit card or credit card. You can buy stamps, and check postage, and many others things. It will weigh your packages/ letters and tell you what your cost is, and then you pay, print your postage sticker, slap it on and then just drop it in the drop bin. Very easy! The pros with this is, no lines, and you can quickly be in and out of the post office and you can do it all yourself within 5 min. However, the cons is you can't use cash on this machine, and if you have a package that needs custom forms or international postage it might not be possible or might be in your best to wait in line and see what rates you need or forms you need. Another con is the drop bin can only fit up to a certain size box so if your package is too big you may want to wait in line too. Some cons to this location is because it is the central post office in Lompoc occasionally there will be long lines during the lunch hour, sometimes from 3 to 5 and especially around closing time. But they will try to help as many people as quickly as possible. Second con is the parking lot, it's a little crowded and is full about half the time, but sometimes you nab front street parking. Another great thing is the employees will tell you rates that will help you save money and they have many free priority boxes and supplies you can buy. So that's it. Great place! read more

I recently moved into a house and keep receiving mail for the previous tenant. After many times of writing not at this address on the said mail I kept getting it. I wrote a note to the carrier and still keep getting it. I just attempted to call the post office and there is no answer. What do I have to do to stop receiving other peoples mail? Tired of it! It's hard to leave the image and experience with big city post offices behind. However, the Lompoc post office (and even the dMV) are stocked with friendly, helpful, intelligent folks. They may be crowded but they work hard to get the customers serviced. read more

I have had multiple bad experiences with the local USPS office here in Lompoc. The first time, I ordered something expensive online that was never delivered although according to the post office, they dropped it off at my door while I was at work (not something that should be done in my opinion without notice or for expensive things). The second and third time, I had a personal letter mailed to the wrong address and other very important mail placed in the wrong mailbox. Luckily, the people who received these letters knocked on my door and gave them to me personally. The fourth time, I ordered another product online through Amazon that was to be delivered through USPS. This package was "delivered" to my door while I was at work, but this time since I was not there the package was not left (thankfully). The problem was that I received an email stating that there was a note left on my door to schedule a redelivery - there was no note. I even looked at my neighbors' doors to see if they placed it on another door, but nothing was left. These are only a few of the issues that have occurred since I've lived here. Let me just state that I have only lived in Lompoc a few months and have had numerous problems with the local post office and their "mail men." These types of issues should not happen on a monthly basis and during such a short time span. There is obviously something wrong with their system or the way they train their employees. read more

I have had to call and complain to the Lompoc USPS three times in the last month. When our regular carrier is not here, our packages are either not delivered to the door and notices left, or shoved in our community mailbox so that we can not retrieve them until the carrier arrives the next day to pull them back out the way they were shoved in. I have a choice to use other services like UPS and FedEX, however I have been trying to continue giving my money to the USPS. If this continues much longer, that will no longer be the case and I will be forced to use said other services. read more

For the third time since we moved here in mid-September, outgoing mail has sat in the mail clip on our mailbox for three days or more. When speaking with the carrier for our route (I live a block and a half from the post office, so we are usually last to get our mail delivered) I was told that unless there was mail delivered to the house, the carrier wouldn't bother looking to see if there was outgoing mail. My neighbor at 124 O Street also had outgoing mail that sat for the same amount of time and I don't think that either of us had absolutely no mail for Thursday and Friday. This wouldn't bother me if it had not happened two other times, both times being outgoing checks that needed to be on time. I con't feel like I have to walk the block and a half to the Post Office to drop my mail in the box there when I have a carrier that should be picking my outgoing mail up, whether or not I have incoming mail. It sounds to me like my carrier isn't doing his or her job. I'm not going to assume the carrier's job--that is what they get paid for. I am quite sure there are hard-working folks who would jump at the chance to get a postal-worker job--if you are not wanting to do all of your job, there are folks out there who will. read more
