Yep poor reviews are accurate. This place is a JOKE. I called to ask them to hold a package because I would be out of town and I figured it would be easier to just stop by the post office and grab it. Nope. The people who work there are totally incompetent. After fighting with their customer service line to give me this offices phone number the man I talked to on the phone was rude. He asked for the tracking number and I said sure let me pull it up.( tracking number was on my phone and I was talking on it) He groaned and said, "you better hurry up". Then he said he would hold it and I can come by and get it. Now I've been here for 20 minutes and these totally incompetent morons have "no idea what to tell me". Fucking unbelievable. The sad part is that I had an idea this would happen based on the numerous horror stories I've heard. Ugh! Update: I had no choice but to ship here again (prepaid label) so I printed it off but I didn't have a box. I went in with my label and my item that I needed to ship and waited the 25 minutes in line and I said I need it ship this, I just need a box and he the clerk told me I needed to buy for one. (Priority mail has free boxes especially for that) but he insisted I needed to spend ANOTHER 13 dollars if I wanted a box. I asked if I could just have a free envelope and he rolled his eyes, slammed the envelope on the table and yelled "NEXT". So I stuffed my item in this paper envelope and got back in line so I could ask for some tape to throw the label on. Waited ANOTHER 20 minutes until they told me that I would need to pay for shipping tape. SERIOUSLY BYPASS THIS POST OFFICE FOR ANYTHING. Pretend it doesn't exist. Well I think changing your hours to end at 5:30 pm instead of 6:00 PM without any serious warning or changes on official web sites, this week (November 21, 2017) at the start of the mailing system cause real problems for anyone with a package that woudn't fit in the bin and needed a DATE STAMP proof. Thanks for nothing. And one of three packages I did put in the bin to be collected at 6:15, put them in at 5:45 wasn't tracked until two days later, cost me a "late ship on ebay." I feel like my package is trapped and I can't get it. They didn't deliver it because it needed my approval. I went online and had it re-delivered (confirmation # and everything). Still no package. I called the 800# but none of their selections get you to a live person. I called the local Longmont post office twice and the automated voice told me it was connecting me to the next available rep. The USPS office in Longmont is understaffed and the supervisors are extremely abusive to the employees. The letter carriers, most but not all, are dedicated and hard-working and truly care but are mistreated. The facility is not able to handle the volume as it is outdated. They have gone through one postmaster after another because the problems are nearly insurmountable. Hopefully, the new postmaster can turn things around as he certainly seems more capable than the oddly abusive supervisors who report to him. Hopefully, he will fire them all. Most new hires leave within a few weeks, as was the case with me. I wasn't going to be abused for 18 dollars per hour. I wish the new postmaster luck. Oh, and they still owe me salary for overtime, time and a half and double time, but one of the supervisors didn't bother to turn in my hours so I got screwed. My suggestion be understanding with the beat down employees but don't go to work there till they turn it around. read more

I like comparisons. I feel it is easier for people to understand a wider array of concepts if they have a solid frame of reference. So, for this review I will be using the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (a tectonic plate) and comparing it to the Longmont Post Office (A Post Office). Now the Mid Atlantic Ridge (Or MAL as I will be calling it for the remainder of this review) moves at about 2.5cm per year, this is roughly the speed in which your fingernails grow. But next to the employees at this Post Office the MAL may as well be Usain Bolt. Never in my life have I experienced the sensation of feeling (what little I have left of) my hairs grow. But as I stood there, motionless in that line, it was as though I was in some sort of strange time vortex, like the Episode of Star Trek: ToS "Wink of an Eye" (Google it if I have dove to deep into geekdom). If you are sending a package, do yourself a solid and go to The UPS store or FedEx, or Ace Hardware (apparently they too ship packages). Should you NOT heed this advice and venture into this Molasses of Time, clear your schedule, maybe take an interesting companion and pack a lunch. For me, I'll surf the MAL for kicks. read more

Mailed a package 6 days ago and it still has not reached the post office! I personally handed it to the mail carrier and watched him put it in his mail truck yet every time I check the tracking number it says the package has not reached the post office. Outrageous !! This is for USPS in general, even though EVERY post office is slow and every person behind the counter seems to hate their job. I hope someone of competence see's this just for my satisfaction. Whomever was supposed to deliver my package has failed miserably and you think dealing with this location is bad, try dealing with customer service on the phone. I filed a claim because it never made it to my house even though it says it did. I file the claim and it says "denied - article shows delivered". Case closed ladies and gentleman!!!! you solved the mystery of the missing package, NOT. Get it together, you have one job and one job only to deliver mail. So today I tracked my package, figured out it was in Longmont today at 10:30am but it said "undeliverable to addressed"... whatever the HELL that means.. So I called "Richard", whom is APPARENTLY the package area supervisor, so he says... I called in about 11am.. I provided him my name, tracking number and address, he informed me that the carrier STILL has my package and he will put it aside for pickup once they bring it back... 5:30pm rolls around and still NO CALL BACK.. I called them once again... When "Richard" got on the line, he was almost in a "oops, FORGOT" mode, placed me on hold and comes back to tell me that the package WAS INFACT SENT BACK AROUND 1PM... AFTER he told me 7 hours earlier that he would hold it for me!!!! I AM BEYOND P!$$ED THAT HE, AS A "SUPERVISOR" WOULD LIE TO ME OR EVEN FORGET THAT HE WAS TO HOLD IT!!! funny part is, they, or better yet HE couldn't even tell me why it was not delivered... AND also, called my carrier a "her" when infact its a "HE"... just made me realize that he had NO intention to hold the package nor call me... He asked me for my phone number on BOTH phone calls!!!! Who is the real supervisor up there?? I intend to make a complaint against this liar whom dont care about anyones packages... Had the nerve to tell me earlier that he's glad I called him BEFORE the package was sent back to sender... pfffft... sounds like a CROCK of BS if you ask me!!! I've had nothing but problems for 15 years. Our carrier mis-delivers mail when there's only 2 streets in our neighborhood constantly...at least something's consistent. ha! The status is whatever they feel like putting for the day. The actual post office is helpful when you can get a hold of someone-good luck! The line is incredibly long most of the time only to wait there and they have no clue what their carriers have done with your mail. I have lived in Longmont almost 60 years! The Longmont postal service is the worst post office in the area. Longmont has nearly 100,000 people. The longmont Post Office has two to three windows open on a normal day. There is always a long line! On holidays forget the Longmont Post Office unless you want to wait at least an hour. I have to travel to the nearby towns for postal service! Mead, CO. has two windows open. Burthoud, CO. has four or five. Even home delivery is problematic! I have written letters to postal the headquarters in Washington DC. and Denver, to no avail! No one cares! read more

I had a prepaid package I dropped off in the blue box weeks ago.. it was on a Saturday, after they closed.. I noticed Monday it hasn't been updated, Tuesday, then Wednesday and I was starting to get worried. I called the post office and the man who answered was not cooperative at all. He had asked me for my tracking number, and he clearly wasn't listening because I had to repeat it numerous times and asked why does he need it, no answer, and ignored my concerns.. I told him the tracking number and he said "looks like it hasn't been scanned", please note that I told him over and over it hasn't been scanned for over 3 days. He was not giving me the answers I wanted and I was furious, he said there was a delay but I ship out packages everyday and this was the only post office I had problems with. I waited until Friday and went in, I explained to the nice gentleman what happened and he went to go look for my package in the back, unfortunately he couldn't find it. He asked me for my phone number and more information. This man seemed like he cares for his job, and I appreciate him for his effort. There was nothing I could do but just wait. Another few weeks past and finally the residents local post office called and it got delivered, AFTER THREE WEEKS. Before it got delivered it never got scanned or anything. My lesson here is to never come back to this post office, and to never drop off packages in a blue box. read more

I'm honestly SO frustrated and disturbed that I can't put my mail on a vacation hold and start receiving it on the day I ask. This is an ongoing problem so for now on I'm going to ask a neighbor to pick up my mail. I should never have to do it that way but the service in Firestone with vacation holds is just not reliable. I've been looking for a way to review this Post Office! I lived in the city for 6 years and moved mid June 2016. Put in 3 Changes of Address online for the Longmont Post Office when moving to cover every contingency. The Longmont Post Office never forwarded my mail! I maybe got 2 pieces in all that time! Credit Card bills, Insurance papers, Tax bills, and God knows what else, even a letter from my ex-husband all got sent back to the sender! This caused one bill that I had forgotten about to cancel my card, and I only found out about it 3 mos later when I tried to use it! That was a blessing in disguise because the issue got handled. But there have been many problems this has caused me!! Yes, I remember the Long Lines here, and the malaise of the customer service. I started going to any other Post Office just to avoid this one! In December, I paid for and put in another Change of Address hoping to get some Christmas Cards from people who may not have noted my change of address. OH Longmont Post Office you are a SCROOGE to boot! I usually get about 30 Christmas Cards each year. I got only about 4 Christmas Cards this year! The Post Office that time forgot, or at least they forgot your time. I went here to send a pre-addressed priority parcel, it literally took 30 minutes, and that wasn't during peak hours. Every time I've used this station, same time, no matter if it is 1 or 4 people working. I find it is faster to almost drive to the Valmont station in Boulder, which even during tax day, was a 20 min queue at the worst. I really don't understand the difference as to why it takes 20 mins longer in Longmont? Is there a black hole behind the customer service area? Or maybe just a wormhole. Also be wary of retirees, also in line, trying to pick up your fragile packages that you have on the floor, to help you, and then dropping them accidently, it's happened to me twice. I dont know why they do this, because I don't ask for help breaking my heavy glass art in boxes obiviosly marked fragile that I choose to keep safely on the floor so they don't fall off the narrow counter. read more

Caution: they employ thieves! I went there 5/19/16 for a "wrong item sent" return & the parcel never made it to it's destiny! When I called "Worx GT" to inquire about my refund, They claim they never received the Junk they sent me so, I called Longmont Post office, on the 1st of several attempts to locate the parcel they played it out like they was tracking it, by giving me false last place scanned locations, it was in Charlotte 5/28/16 & scheduled to be delivered the next day. After the story changed several times, they couldn't keep their story straight so, at that time they started to try & convince I had no proof because, I called & asked to speak with Dan or Richard 6/21/16 The guy whom answered the phone said his name was "Author"? he told me "do you have the tracking #? Go to USPS.com & you will see what I'm looking at." It only shows it being delivered to me but, before that he tells me "I got it showing it was delivered to Oakdale Post office in N. Carolina & not being delivered, that's the post office you need to be going after, this is the # Good luck!" Verbatim! I gave him the benefit of the doubt & called Oakdale P.O. The guy there told me their a small residential USPS P.O. & they don't even use a DSF? Modern scanner & that he will call me back, never heard back. That's what Longmont's P.O. "good luck" meant. Funny thing is Longmont's Hillbillies rely heavily on their Hillbilly Cop's & Judge's! Their good at making up stories & manipulating people, However, a change of venue will suffice, under Bailment 277 S.W. 2d 695, 698; "delivery of personal property in trust" They are "Liable" a very hard word for the tribe to accept! I take their condescending "Good Lucks" & make their bubble heads realize I'm not part of the Hillbilly tribe. But, need to pay attention to what I eat around here & stay away from LUH! Don't mail your change of address to the post office! Email it! I mailed my change of address to foward my mail and the post office didnt receive it so I had to fill it out again. Pitiful...regardless of time or day, there seems to be a guaranteed slow-motion wait with employee's excuse of "under staffed"...staff seems to feel entitled not to care. I had mail held due to family emergency...downstairs neighbors said the carrier then complained that "too much mail has piled up"...the carrier then delivered my mail to the neighbors without my contact or permission. Since waiting in line to twice request resumed service, I've gotten no mail in a week and a half even after requesting the post master phone me...they took my number, but there was no call back. Again I phoned and the supervisor suggested a time to "call the carrier yourself", because he "might be confused", (how much do they pay them???)...it's really unbelieveable when you can't get your own mail delivered...including even junk mail! This is the WORST post office I have ever had the "pleasure" of dealing with. We have no choice but to use these folks for our mail delivery service. These people are the worst period. Our mail is ALWAYS getting "misplaced" and takes days sometimes weeks to find if it is ever found. Our mail is also delivered to the wrong address...always. We have called numerous times to complain and the phone is always busy....always busy. When you do have a slight glimmer of hope when you hear the phone ring, the folks that work there are not helpful at all and do not offer even an apology. This post office is the worst branch of the US Postal Service I have ever used. I mail a lot of merchandise using USPS for my business. In the past, I have always used the drop box to drop my pre-paid postage in. My items are 24" long, which means that they don't fit into a standard mailbox. Every other postal branch has a basket at the front desk to drop these items into. Not this one. The line here is always 1 hour long, even right after opening. There's only one clerk to assist a line of 20 people and they are SLOOOOOOW. There's no energy at this place and nobody seems motivated. I have gone here 5 times and I have walked out without accomplishing what I needed to 5 times. Today was the last straw. I needed to send an overnighted package. I waited in line for 45 minutes. The clerk told me to fill out a slip, then sent me to the back of the line again. 1.5 hours in line to mail a simple package? I think not. My time is too valuable. I walked out and drove to FedEx. I paid $10 more, but I was out of there in 5 minutes. Beware of this place. People should be ghetting fired over how this place is run. read more

This post office has always been somewhat of a challenge. When I was younger, Longmont only had 11,000 residents. Now, it is over 90,000. The slow paced, small town "sense of urgency" has never changed. Admittedly, I would rather have it take a few more minutes to finish my business AND have accurate results. This location had insufficient staffing and parking in the 60's. Odds are, it's not going to change in our lifetimes. USPS did have a processing center east of town that handled all the mail from the surrounding communities. Since they closed that local facility, all mail has to be transported to the GMF in Denver for processing. In my experience, most Longmont to Longmont mail makes the round trip in 24-48 hours. I now live in downtown Denver and it's not uncommon for 1st class mail sent from less than 2 miles away to take 4-6 days to reach me. I also receive 2-4 misdelivered pieces of mail per week. Frustrating at times? Yes. But, if you asked me to hand deliver a letter anywhere in the country for 47 cents, I would tell you in no uncertain terms where you could put that letter. Have you ever considered asking the person at the counter how their day was going rather than snarling them at them because you're in a bind over something that needs to be in New York tomorrow morning? I've experienced long waits in the past, around the time that one reviewer here complained about that also, around 2009. However, I just used the post office to mail a package for the holidays. I'd used satellite contract offices in the past that have since closed and never had to wait. I've used Ace Hardware's a couple times and had waits of over 1/2 hour in long lines that wound around the store. My total time at the Longmont Main Branch P.O. this time around was less than 15 minutes. My boyfriend, who had called Ace to find out the wait time, was stunned and amazed when I came back home with a big smile on my face having already mailed my package at the P.O.. I went in mid to late afternoon on a weekday - I think it was a Monday. Counter staff had had turnover since I'd been there last and were all top-notch. I used to have my packages mailed priority and picked up from home, but it was much less expensive, and, as it turned out, not too long a wait, to have it done parcel post in person at the post office. read more
