It was that time - to not only renew my license but also get a new photo…read more By scheduling my appointment a day ahead & confirming what I needed to bring with me (info is on their website) I was sure I was in for a quick visit. They even sent me a reminder text and email confirmation to show the check in employee. Upon arrival to the office I was 4th in line to enter (I got there about 5 minutes before my 4pm time slot). Some of us had appointments others questioned whether one was needed. Mind you there was a large sign just outside the doorway with a scannable QR code to make an appointment. The office was chalk full of people standing in line to speak to clerks and sitting. After checking in I sat down with my assigned number on a little piece of paper. I wish I'd packed a book as I was waiting for over an hour just to speak to the clerk. I must say I expected a lot more from my fellow Boulderites. Everyone I overheard said no to donating their organs and no to donation $1 to support organ donation awareness. When I finally made it up to the clerk I asked to be an organ donor and donate a dollar. They told me they had already gone by the screen to add my dollar donation. Sigh. I had the option to pay via card or cash. After confirming there was a processing fee for paying via card (which I did not hear them tell people about) I paid via cash. Next step was to wait on the other side of the room for my photo. This only took about 5 minutes. When I got up to take my photo they gave me direction on head positioning etc. Which was honestly a bit of a bummer (double chin in full effect in my photo) since I'd studied some online guides for how to get a good pic. At least I was able to show my teeth - unlike in a passport photo. They said my new license should arrive in 7-10 days. They weren't however sure if I could fly with my temporary license and old license with a hole in it. They advised I call my airline. All in all the employees were friendly. And while the wait time is less than ideal the experience is a necessary inconvenience.

Today I go up to renew my license and followed what the directions said. They moved. Don't know when dont care when. A manual drawing with the new location would've been acceptable. Instead, I get directed to the old location. Done with Boulder!!!

The staff here is very efficient, with an automated number system for service based on the type needed. For simple renewals, including getting replacement tags, it almost always goes very quickly. Since we have had some issues with leaving anything of value in our porch mailbox, I usually renew in person here, as I am in the neighborhood of the office regularly and I do have the time. Just don't come in the first or last days of the month when it is the busiest.

It was very refreshing to not have to prepare myself for that "usual" experience. The rep that I worked with was polite, patient, and seemed to enjoy her job. Maybe its the fresh air or the scenic mountains that sets everyone at this branch at ease, but I'll take it! A few tips: 1. Show up within the first hour if you can carve out time (between 8-9 AM). You will virtually have no wait. 2. There is a computer when you first enter where you must select the reason for your visit. It will spit out a ticket and when they're ready they'll announce the number on the ticket. 3. They do accept credit cards, checks, and cash. Beware: they upcharge about 2.7% for credit card use. 4. As with most DMV's come prepared: be sure to have insurance, proof of residence, ID, etc. Otherwise you'll be turned away. For proof of insurance you can show an insurance ID through you cell phone.

I have not been to this Post Office in years. A relative on the east coast had sent us a box of…read morebooks, multiple copies fresh of the press that he had written. Not only did the box not get to us, we were sent the labels from the box and they looked like they had been cut off the box with a neat box cutter swipe. Not a stain, not a crease, just the flaps with the labels in perfect condition. It came in a clear plastic bag, the size of a business envelope with an apology from the P.O and a website to get directions for claims. I tried that and discovered the sender needed to do it with proof of value of the contents. So we took pictures of the package and sent via email. He did that much at his end. Today, we got a letter from the USPS offices, asking us to bring the actual remainder of the box to our PO for inspection. We took the little clear plastic envelop to the office we use near our home. The staff there, usually very helpful, refused as our zip is different than theirs so we went to the main city PO which has the same zip as ours. It's downtown on a busy street so we used the nearest parking garage and walked from there on a hot day. The line there is notoriously slow and it was as usual today. The one staff working, midday on a weekday, did not know what to do with it. So he left the counter unattended while he went for help. The apparent manager took over and was incredulous that was all we got. So he took it from us, and said he'd send it for processing and when a determination of cause was made, we would be notified BY MAIL! Believe me, I will do nothing else. The sender had receipt, he's entitled to recourse for insured value and forcing us to use the most inconvenient office to process is ridiculous. The first office could have and should been allowed to do the same thing with the papers. The main PO wasn't even apologetic in any way. The only staff member in a place with 6 windows for service, did not even know how to do it himself and left everyone waiting while getting a manager.

About a week later, tracking was still saying the same thing. Attempted delivery August 1st. I contacted the buyer to see if there were any issues with delivery. He said package was delivered Aug 1st. It was left on the ground next to the mailbox and this has been an ongoing issue for him. Due to the cost of this package, a signature was REQUIRED. I paid for this service with the label. Yet, one wasnt collected. Tracking is still in limbo saying attempted delivery Aug 1st. The issue now is that my funds are on hold because this wasnt scanned correctly. I called Aug 13th to see if they could manually scan the item. The supervisor said she could and would do so. It was never done. I called Aug 18 to ask the same thing. Still, nothing has changed. My funds will remain on hold until who knows when because this post office cannot do what should be done correctly the first time. Or second. Or third
