Just look for the little brick building that's shaped like a monopoly house! The Oilville post…read moreoffice is small but mighty. On Route 250, you may have overlooked it, if it hadn't been for the huge sign by the road! It's tucked aways back off the main road with a few parking spots, and a flagpole out front proudly waving the ol' red, white and blue. Inside is bright and clean, well stocked packaging center, post office boxes for rent. Anthony Trollope, prominent writer of the Victorian Era, mid-1800's, is given credit to the widespread of neighborhood mailboxes at the corners of the London streets. This creative idea then spread to America! In London, the boxes were originally green but they blended in with the scenery too well, so the "pillar boxes" were then painted bright red so they can be seen from afar. Here in the states, street boxes were also painted an olive drab green, but in 1955, the colors were changed to red, white & blue. Then, in 1971, the US Postal Service, decided to change them to the deep royal blue we see today! Anthony Trollope is a man of letter for sure!! Lobby hours are 9:30-4:30 M-F, and 9:00-12:00 Sat. Money orders, standard services, stamps, but no passport services. Local # (804)784-3624. They break for lunch, so call ahead. With the larger post offices overloaded due to the pandemic and the holiday season, this tiny mail center a great alternative if you want to avoid long lines! The residents in Goochland County know that the Oilville post office is one slick business!!

This part of Oilville is not a very busy area. It's pretty must just through traffic and I think that helps keep customers at this post office to a minimal. There is only one register on the inside, so if someone has a lot of stuff to send out or if there's more than 3 people in line, it might take some time until you make your way to the desk. Staff here is always friendly. Super, southern friendly! Lol. For the most part, I've never seen more than two other customers here. But I've also never been here around rush hour.

US Post Office - After driving to the location listed on the sign, we arrived to this. The lady said she didn't know why we were sent there. Ugh

Meh. Nobody loves going to the post office, do they? I never seem to have a great experience there,…read morebut it's a necessary evil. On my most recent visit, the self service kiosk wasn't working, so I had to stand in line to mail my letter. While I arrived prior to 5pm, I experienced the employees being very rude to folks who arrived just after 5. While I understand that the line has to be cut off, a little customer service and niceness goes a long way. Instead of yelling "WE'RE CLOSED" and making hand gestures, they could have put a sign on the door or nicely said that they are closed and to come back another time. Just my two cents!

I have put in two official inquiries and nobody could tell me why my packages were not getting picked up on fon du lac. I have even put notes in the mailbox for the carrier asking them to please pick the packages up. Smh. I called the local branch several times and nobody answers the phone. I went there in person on Tuesday 8/4/26 to drop off the packages that weren't picked up the day before. I spoke to a supervisor, but she didn't take down my information, so I wasn't very confident that she was even going to look into it. While I was waiting to speak with her, there was another lady speaking with her who put her small children on top of a very high round table in the lobby. It is about 4.5 to 5 feet tall with a concrete floor underneath, and she had placed her two young children up there unsupervised. I was concerned the kids would fall off the entire time, yet the supervisor allowed it. I was about to go over there and stand by them to make sure they didn't fall, when the mother finally came back to attend to them. The table is part of the self-service kiosk where customers prepare their parcels; it's not a place for children to play or sit upon. It was a hazardous situation for those babies. That being said, when I do have to go to the post office, the ladies at the front are mostly polite and professional.
