I had an interaction with a post office worker lady who wears a hijab and she was rude and nasty. I was trying to simply send out a package with a different mailer and asked to pay the difference as I have done that before at this location. She was repeatedly telling me there's no way I could've done that and as I was trying to understand her she was very rude. While helping me out she does a task provided by her coworker, not prioritizing me as a customer. I won't be coming to this location again. read more

I like this location because they're open open early (8:00 weekdays abd 8:30 Saturday). I live in South Windsor and our those post offices don't open until 9:00. It's very convenient for me to go there at 8 weekday mornings. I mail a lot of packages and this works great for me. I know the morning clerks abd they're efficient and friendly but usually only one on at a time when they open so it can back up a little. Usually not bad, though. I CALLED MANCHESTER POLICE DEPARTMENT TO THIS SHELDON RD LOCATION 10-09-2025 Here's what happened: At the end of September 2025, I ordered a few things from a worldwide company, called Shein. (Important to note I've ordered before from them and never had a problem, but I've had lots of previous issues with this post office marking packages delivered and actually keeping them). I checked yesterday to see if my package had been delivered to see that it was and marked by the Post Office on Sheldon Rd Manchester "delivered in/or at Mailbox". I said there's no way. This package had 3 larger purses in it. I live in a complex, and the locked mail slots are not big enough for large packages such as mine. I go to check my mailbox and guess what? no package was there. I instantly tried calling this Post Office location and got no response. So, I drove there. I first came in contact with an Indian woman, and I asked straightforwardly for a supervisor in regard to a missing package. The woman wouldn't go get the supervisor and instead told me to just tell her the problem. I told her no 3 times and after those three times, having to give her the tracking number, and demanding the supervisor is when she finally goes to get the supervisor. The supervisor comes out and tells me that the tracking number doesn't belong to me in anyway and that it is not connected to my address. I've never heard this before. I pulled up the Shein app, showed her the tracking number and even showed her that my address, name and cell number is all connected to me and the package. She claimed "oh well it was brought somewhere else by one of her mailmen due to the tracking number being connected to a different address "ironically" to Manchester CT... close by to me. None of this made any sense and I wasn't sure if I was hearing her correctly. At first, they admitted that it was delivered correctly but then changes it to this garbage here. I asked her to please better explain this and how this could happen. The MAN-CHILD named Spencer interjects with condescending tone saying, "This is a scam, and we see it all the time". The supervisor agrees with him and then tells me this is not her problem, and maybe to contact Shein. So, I say "How is it not your problem? Your mailman has a reoccurring problem with claiming to deliver packages that they don't actually deliver and now I'm having the same problem again. She turns her back as I'm speaking with her and proceeds to tell me I need to calm down. So I say "First of all, I'm calm. How would like it if you're trusting the post office to deliver packages correctly, AND instead they steal or you're expecting a package that says delivered, but never was and you're told by the USPS "it's not their problem". I tell her off and let her no to STFU. I let her know that if she has problem to find a new job. She supports theft inside that office with those mailmen and instead of addressing it, just ignores it. I leave out and make a call to the local police. Too much theft from this location from not just happening to me, but plenty of other reviews reflect the lies of delivered packages that aren't actually delivered. The police come and both understand my frustration and lets me know I have a right to question what's going on. They talked to me and them. This USPS location told them they delivered it correctly. In short, the police got their number for me to which I can file a complaint against the USPS location, and the police told me to get a refund back from Shein as well because I never received my package. I had contacted Shein already to confirm what happened and I showed one of the officers. Shein said a specific mail carrier had actually signed for the packaged and marked it as delivered in my mailbox at the address on my account when I placed the order. I also filed a case with Manchester Police Department to which I have a case number as well. Going forward, I will purchase a P.O box at a different mailing location. This location has its own mail carriers involved in theft and refuses to acknowledge it. Before doing business with this location, having them deliver packages, or even plugging your debt cards in their pay systems, READ THEIR REVIEWS ON YELP AND GOOGLE FIRST. read more

They suck , haven't received any mail in 3 days, one day I can understand , our regular carrier retired and it's been downhill ever since, they claim staff shortages which I believe is due to staff calling in because of bad weather, get rid of these lazy irresponsible people. read more

I was supposed to receive an international package through registered mail (they have to get my signature and deliver it to me). * I called USPS on 11/26 to check if the package had reached them and was told call after a week or 10 days - when they said that they would have more clarity then.. * I called them back on 12/10 and am being asked if I moved form my address. They tell me that they had recieved it on 12/2, but was forwarded/sent it back. * I spoke to Consumer Affairs and they tracked it till 12/12 when it was sent back out to the origin country, but weren't able to stop and retrieve it. This post office is the worst for deliveries. My daughter lives at Vintage at the Grove apartment complex and I have had two packages mailed to her, from Amazon. PACKAGES!, not regular mail. It was not a big package. The delivery person left a note the first time saying that an attempt was made to deliver, but the mailbox was full. A "PACKAGE" should be delivered to the actual address, not the mailbox. My daughter had to get her package at the post office. WTF?? Yesterday, June 10, 2024, my daughter was to receive another package, a nice-sized box, that I paid $11.25 for delivery. AGAIN, no delivery, no note. I had to go online to track it. The message was that the box didn't fit her mailbox. DUH!!!, and that the package was too big. NO NOTE! DO YOUR FREAKEN JOB AND DELIVER THE PACKAGES TO THE ADDRESS. Especially because I paid for it to be delivered. Packages are delivered separately from regular mail. What's the problem? The letter carriers deliver regular mail to the mailboxes. Now I'm in the process of trying to get this incompetence resolved. I want my money back. The USPS system has gone to the toilet. Shame on them! read more

Every time I come in someone is rude or doesn't want to be bothered. It's always dirty and grimy in there. Mail couriers are always smoking cigarettes out of their van when they deliver. Now they are making us pay to schedule redeliveries on what we have already e-signed and gave directions for the delivery. Sure informed delivery is extremely cheap but what's the point if they aren't following instructions. These aren't packages the sender is requesting a signature for as well. I just was screamed at by a mail couier after she banged on my door because I asked her to leave my packages I esign and she said she "spoke to" 8 of my neighbors about the same thing and if that's how she is speaking to my neighbor i don't think she should be working with the public. Clearly if at least 8 of my neighbors are being screamed at too just for their packages to be left it's an issue. I get we all have bad days but banging on doors and screaming doesn't make a person feel safe. I kept asking her to leave. I miss how the post office use to be. Kind and warm but at this point I'm about to just pay extra for deliveries and use private services because I don't feel safe with my post couier and i don't feel welcomed going into the post office. read more

I signed up for text updates on another order placed through SAHALIE. Yesterday, the mailman, CHIP, came to the door and handed me my mail and a small package from ETSY. I asked him, "where is the other package?" I had the USPS text in my phone in my hand. He shrugged and said, "I do not have it." At 6:29pm, I got a text saying, "ACCESS WAS DENIED", as I was sitting 2 feet from the front door. No dogs, no fences and CHIP, the USPS mailman handed me my mail in the morning no problem. Sat on hold for an hour and then my call to SHELDON ROAD POST OFFICE went to fast busy. SAHALIE won't reship until the "DENIED ACCESS" package is returned. USE UPS or FED EX. This post office is always buzzing! From self-serve options, to a shipping center loaded with cards and any type of packaging option you could ever imagine, this location has it all. They provide a decent amount of space to package gifts, for those who have not packaged them before arrival. (Pro-tip: Bring your own packing tape!) As a frequent shipper, I have never seen fewer than six people in line here. It is an exceptionally busy office, so prepare yourself for a bit of a wait. Yes, there will probably be a screaming child, a nosy line neighbor, or a loud cell phone talker while you wait, but this is no reflection of the office itself, so go to your zen place and be very kind to the postal workers when it is your turn, because they're dealing with the same nonsense. There is a regular rotation of five or six postal experts at this office, all of whom I've experienced to be exceptionally knowledgeable and efficient, so feel free to ask them about any shipping options or questions you have may, and they'll make sure your packages arrive to your specifications. Overall, this is a fantastic office, which is why I am willing to deal with the inevitable wait due to sheer popularity of this location. This post office is the absolute worst! Just like other reviewers I have had the exact same issues. The mail men scan our packages, or at least they pretend to, say they deliver our stuff, and NEVER do. Our packages are constantly missing. No one knows where they are, but apparently they are being delivered. Or they are "attempted" to be delivered. One time when we were home they claimed at the same time that they tried delivering some packages. Which was a complete lie. Because no one rang or knocked on our door. No one came! I was there waiting and saw no one. I had to go there and personally threaten them to get anywhere. Only to finally have someone come to my house because I demanded that they do THEIR JOB! I talked to the post master who openly admitted that the people who work there hate their jobs and don't want to do them. Why are you hiring these people then?! Do your job and get your act together!! Since no one seems to care or wants to help I am reporting this post office to the postal regulatory commission and the usps head office. I am tired of your excuses and lies. FYI our packages are still missing. This will no longer be tolerated. read more

If you come here around lunchtime or during peak off-work hours and you need one of the employees to help you, expect to wait in a very long line for up to 30 min. (I generally use this time to catch up on Yelp reviews!) And during this rush period, expect for there to be only one register open at a time - sometimes they'll surprise you and open two. On a positive note, their employees have always been both friendly and helpful. And they do have a mail machine you can use to get exact postage and avoid the line (it even operates outside of their usual hours), but media mail isn't an option. This location also offers a nice, if overpriced, selection of greeting cards, decorative mailing supplies, and gift cards. I realize many of the problems I have with them, such as slow service at this location, are largely due to being underfunded. USPS as an organization has experienced many budget cuts recently, and they're doing their best with what they have. The attitude of the Supervisor at this Post Office Location is horrific, (The woman who is a Supervisor there) She tries to force you to do things her way, even thou her way of doing things makes no sense, Hates to be informed of other solutions, When it's dealing with your very own business, Who does that? I went on vacation in September 2 weeks and another wee in October. Terrible mess with mail sticking out when I came home. And then another bundle about 2 weeks after I got home. I go to the trouble to fill out stop mail forms and it is not adhered to. I I have left for the winter season on dec 7th. I was waiting for a package from Amazon, it was supposed to be delivered to my Bolton address on 12/10. We had had a snow storm but we cleared our driveway and walkway early that morning. I saw the mail truck early afternoon and expected my package to be delivered.
