Where do I even begin, I knew that office its constantly short on people constantly lines with dissatisfied customer but I want it to give it a try since I run into a bit of a problem myself with the niles location passport department.  I made appointment for Niles office a week or so in advance as per office rules, went to the office on time only to be turn away with the reason passport agent didn't show up to work, and instead of giving the people who missed the appointment due to employee beeing absent and rest of the office stuff unable to help they just told us to go again with the process of making appointment online again, which in my case I already lost a week and have to wait till next available time which would be really inconvenient due to me expediting my passport aplications. So I look the offices and found Devon office have a walk in options for passport related aplication once a week between 3-4 pm, because rest its only by appointment only. When I got to the post office around 3.05 pm. I had one lady in the line infront of me one by the passport agent cashier and line of about 12 people next to us with a regular people looking for post office needs. I had about 45 min to do my application since it takes about 15 min to process aplication. To our surprise the passport agent- employee of this office Indian speaking female she stated that she will not take passport aplication after she's finishing the client in front of her instead she will take care of 12 impatient people in the line because they shprt on people and someone on lunch, everybody got angry people to the left in line already been staring on the passport related customers since they taking to long and us looking at all this insanity dont understand what will happen next lady in front of me start flipping of since she took lunch brake came here early and now she's almost not making it? The manager came out and instead of helping possibly opening a side drawer and help the customer she just stood there listening to angry customer

This is a very outdated post office located in a nice community. The place is huge but so old, I mean old like breaking down old not vintage. But the most unpleasant experience is the attitude of the staffs. They work so slow and rude and arrogant. They act like I am there to ask for hand outs or something. In addition, there are only 2 working clerks at most of the time, sometimes just 1 clerk while there are more than 10 customers in line. Don't recommend this place at all.

this is the most worst post office station in all of chicago

this is the worst station in all of chicago out of 5 salters only one person works and a little bit more one of the two people who work one person works only for passports and the other person is there so there is no time people always complain when they go to this station because it takes half an hour for it to be my turn to send your package here, you have to hire one or two more people because this is a big post and many people come here, and in order not to pay workers, you only have two people in the entire post, which has 5 Saltera, this is an unprecedented miracle and a shame

Wait is quite long. The treatment by staff depends upon their mood that day. It varies from acceptable to foul.

Employees are rude. Dirty, you can't find a single pen to use. 1 person in the front with line reaching to the street.

The second and last time I came to this location was for a passport appointment at 1:45. The clerk said that the agent was already clocking out for some reason, even though there was another family in line there for their appointment as well. As well as I can understand being shortstaffed, I wish they could be a bit more sympathetic. I would not rely on this location for passport apps, I'd rather suggest making a trip Downtown for that.

Well, I was home and nobody rang my buzzer. In fact the USPS worker just signed for it themselves and picked 'left with individual' and dropped it on the ground. What a joke. Month or two before that I had a package sit in sorting for over a month. 2 months total for the international package to arrive. It was a $90 postage fee shipment from the Netherlands. Things I order for $3 from Ali Express arrive sooner. Now I'm waiting for another signature required delivery and filled out the information online to have it redelivered. The redelivery day has passed. So has the day after that. Nothing. No new notice, nothing. They just did not bother attempting a redelivery. Insulting. Very sad to see how far USPS has fallen. Really nothing we can even do apparently. Just pay your taxes and be happy with terrible service.

I had the "joy" of visiting this post office last week, since receiving the dreaded notification…read morethat my package was being held here "at customer's request." I requested no such thing & figured I could get this sorted out prior to starting my work day. I quickly got dressed & headed off. There is very limited parking, despite arriving just an hour after opening & of course, the line was long. There was also a notable horde of less than enthused people standing near a blue door. The gentleman assisting the line, was very polite & handed me a green sheet to put my tracking info, phone number, & address on, which was then added to a large pile. You're told you'll be called when your package is ready. This is where it gets bad. After waiting 20+ minutes, a woman appears at the door, tells everyone they should leave as no more than 10 people can be in the lobby at once. I get it - we're in the middle of a pandemic. This did little to get people to leave & I could tell her patience was wearing thin. After waiting another 30+ minutes, she reappears & when I was asked what I was waiting for, I told her it was a package. At this point, I was told to go home & I would be called. Admittedly, this was not how I wanted to spend my morning, & even worse, waste time only to be turned away. I hate being late for work & having to stay later for reasons out of my control. Upon arriving home, I submitted a ticket online (as I have before for packages), & sulked. Do yourself a favor if you find yourself in my position & submit a ticket instead. My package was finally delivered the next day - by a postal carrier who was not wearing a mask, might I add. I am now considering things I order online & it may be worth just paying extra for service with UPS or FedEx.

I've seen far worse post offices than this. Everyone complaining of employees giving an attitude…read moreperhaps need to understand these clerks aren't the complaints department for whatever you have going on. Ask to speak with a supervisor if you have delivery issues etc. It would be much better if some of the customers wouldn't stand in line trying to mail out a single first class envelope and waiting to buy a stamp just for that one envelope. Buy a book of stamps and you will save everyone else's time including your own. It would be much better if this post office had a caller window for people picking up packages open during a certain time of day like 10am or something then it would be easier to pick up packages like it was many years ago. But look at all other retail industries where everything is being automated or self serve so it doesn't surprise me that there is only one window or 2 at most open to help you. Sometimes putting yourself in the shoes of the clerk is all it takes and try seeing it from their perspective. It's not easy to have a postal job. Postal work isn't like a simple 9 to 5 job specially the ones going on route. The biggest problem is there is no parking lot for the customers and its either paying the over priced street metered parking or risking getting a ticket and when the lines are long, like waiting for 15 to 20 minutes in line for people to get their passports done specially if you know how to fill everything out then maybe do it yourselves instead of wa ting everyone doing it for you. Then that takes away time and sometimes its not worth paying overpriced meter parking or risking a ticket for waiting in long line to pick up package specially some rude customers with their kids screaming and jumping around like its a playground. The you all expect the clerks to be all smiling when you wouldn't be smiling either if you had to work in this kind of environment.

But the workers had such an attitude. One of them who wander around told me to go to the next open window but when I got there then the worker gave me attitude while saying I didn't call you up. Then the wandering worker said well she can wait while you get set up. The way they didn't even seem to like each other and have to work together was not making it seem like a safe space. Luckily, this isn't my common post office that I would go to and I'm so thankful for that because the set up is so weird too like you can't even see the employee in the window to know. It's also incredibly dirty inside and there was a homeless person or something asking for money right when you walk in. Didn't feel safe, didn't feel any great customer service, extremely long wait. Never again.
