I don't think I've ever seen this post office without a ridiculously long line (and as a result, an even longer wait). Bring a book, you'd probably get through a chapter or two before getting to the front. Almost every worker here is also unnecessarily rude. Once I make it to the front of the line, I'm often afraid of the impending, heaping amount of attitude ready to be thrown at me. I've witnessed a handful of times customers and clerks yelling at each other in full voice...extremely uncomfortable for all parties. If you can, go the extra two miles west on Devon to the Edgebrook branch. Yep, this is he'll on earth. First, at 9am there is only one employee working. There's at least 15 costumers in line and there is no end in site. Had it not for the fact that my package is here, I would have gone to another location. In fact, I write this Review as u stand in line with nothing to do. There are plenty of workers here laughing it up in the back but none out here helping the situation. I had to come here to pick up a package which my mailman left a note for. I hate going to this post office and once again, it sucked. It was hot, quiet, dismal and took forever. It was 2:15 on a Tues and there were about a dozen people in line. There were eight stations and only two people working and they were moving like SLOTH. People in line started getting really irritated and commenting on the slow-moving workers and lack of workers and how it's always like this. One guy even tried calling the main post office to complain. Finally, a supervisor came to the table and had the people picking up packages come to her... YAY!!! I charged over to her like she was giving away gold. A couple people complained to her and she said the lack of workers was not her fault... was part of the cuts. But I thought cuts were recent and this station has always been like this. Anyhow, I have to say she was nice and apologetic. So, I waited for her to get my package. And waited. Ten minutes passed and she finally arrived with it. I finally left after a HALF HOUR of being there! I was never so happy to be outside (and in the pouring rain). I've been to several post offices in the 'burbs (though not in the city) and they're a pleasure to be in (well, almost), but this one is TOTAL DREAD. Always, always, always. read more

I have waited here over 45 minutes for doing transaction that takes 5 minutes. And it's always the same at all times. This is insane. I mean I sell a book for 8$ and I wait here to ship it for an hour. On minimum wage I could have made $8 working for an hour. What's the point? I was in line at Northtown branch for over 35 minutes with a long line of customers waiting out the door. This was at 2:00 this afternoon on 7/6/21. One worker was serving us all and she was doing passports. Another worker was yelling: " anyone waiting for a package or to pick up mail on hold?" Well no one was but she kept yelling this. Meanwhile, we all stood there waiting like dumb sheep. I phoned the branch number while waiting in line to see if I could inform a supervisor. I finally got a person who put me on hold immediately and I couldn't even speak. Guess what? I'm still on hold at home now, music playing, same recorded announcements repeating. It's 3:00 pm now. I'm still trying to get help for all the others waiting. The trouble is no one cares or listens. No one wants to improve the situation. Everyone in line was dissatisfied and grumbling. I've already contacted the federal travel bureau ands they report many problems and complaints about this passport facility. The online info says they accept passports at 10 a.m.. We waited in line with our child at 9:30. They would not talk to us until 10:35 to say that the clerk would not be in until 11 a.m. How mean is that? We could have taken our son somewhere and come back, if they would have told us. But instead the line built up, the wait was an hour longer that it was supposed to be, and NO communication from the staff, let alone an apology for our trouble. read more

Not bad for government work. Best review I've given for a USPS. Line was pretty long, but for once the staff moved us through it well. I had 100 lbs worth of mailers for the EDDM service. For once the staff person knew exactly what I was there for, and how to handle it. She even gave me some rubber bands when a few of mine busted in the car ride over. Parking and crossing 4 lanes of traffic sucks, but of the 7 post offices I've visited in the past 2 days, my experience here so far was the best. read more

Can't believe the quality of employees at this location. The mail carriers are nice and friendly but the ones that work actually in the post office are horrible. No customer service skills at all. They all look rude and upset at life for some reason. I don't understand how they got their jobs. I think they all need to be retrained to care about their job. I will agree that this isn't a decent post office, but since noone has mentioned it, you have to admit that the drop-off boxes on BOTH sides of Devon are convenient as hell when you're driving to/from the north suburbs! Since the drop-off boxes have come in handy for me and my family so many times over the years, and worth the slight detour off Lincoln, I'll give this an extra star. Would obviously rate it higher, if I was only grading this convenience alone. :) Now when it comes to post office services, the one at Devon/Clark(and serving 60660) is the better of the 2 POs along east Devon. It isn't perfect, but lines move quicker there! read more

IN ALL FAIRNESS, THIS POST OFFICE LOCATION IS THE WORST ON THE PLANET. It's the worst when you have a package, whether it's registered mail, or even just a standard piece of mail that was supposed to be delivered to your home/business, but wasn't. What's even worse, is when you find out that that piece of mail was sent to the Post Office location at 3401 W Devon! From that point, please don't expect a pleasant experience obtaining it. You should honestly expect fighting for your life to get your mail/package, or not getting it at all. Seriously! I have had nothing but the worst experiences ever, with the post office on W Devon. Stay away from this location at all costs. The staff here is disgustingly rude, incompetent, and frankly just DO NOT CARE about your needs. One time, as I was waiting in line to drop off a package, I overheard a staff member call a dissatisfied customer a bitch, as she left the building. I almost thought I was on a hidden camera/prank TV show. That's how unreal the moment felt. The staff at this location are literally the scum of Rogers Park, not to mention the entire Earth. Always understaffed, employees always overworked this is the absolute bare minimum of minimum service with people in line usually five deep. You will rarely see a line less than 30 minutes long. Avoid at all costs. read more

I visited the post office earlier in the day on Saturday, May 16. Horrible service at this location. Tried to drop off a prepaid package and only needed a receipt as proof that it was received and I was told "ma'am we don't do that here". I told the clerk that "every other post office I've been to to drop off packages gives a receipt". She said "well ma'am, we don't do that here, you can just take your package there then" WOW, I did all the work and paid for this "service" and this is the "service" I get back. They make you feel like you are inconveniencing them. The staff is very rude, and not helpful. I was dropping off a package. They asked me to put my package on the side with multiple other packages on a table, and I said I didn't feel comfortable because it can easily get stolen. They where not willing to scan my package for me anyelled at me. That's why other people have complained about lost packages. It's because they don't care nor do they take action. It's a shame that because the post office is a government building, they will not make any changes because they know people will still go there. read more

My husband went in to drop off a package for me (which I do often because I sell through reselling apps a lot and for over 5 years). First he said the lady was super rude from off the bat. Then she shook her head saying the package was over 1 lb and told him to change the label to priority mail. This has happened before and I've been able to pay the difference in shipping. She didn't give him any options and just told him to come back. It's not necessarily the label situation that calls for the 1 Star, it's the poor customer service and poor attitude of those who work there. Otherwise, I always prepay for my postage and drop my mail in the drop box. Tip: You could save a day maybe if you drop your mail in the drop box inside the office as this one would be sorted out in the same day. Carrier leaves a notice of attempt to deliver a small package on Friday (I was at work). I call the 800 number to ensure that it get delivered the next day and leave the signed notice (just in case as instructed) on the front door of my house. Carrier comes at 4:00 pm (after closing hours on Saturday) NO package. Her supervisor has instructed her not to leave ANY package and she doesn't bring it with her the next day!!?? So now, I have to find time to get over to the Post Office after work (not at all on my way) to pick up a $10 package. read more

Ridiculous! Twice we've been here to get passports. The website and signs in the building say they are open for passports. ONLY TWO employees and they are only taking postal customers! At least 6 families in line 2 with small children. Why do both parents need to be there if the postal employees do not attest to the information they are presented? If your standard for post offices is pretty low, this one won't disappoint. The staff is friendly, but they are not fast, efficient, or customer-focused. There seems to ALWAYS be a long line; last time I went, I heard an old gentleman screeming "hello! hello!" and saw that not one single person was at a register to deal with the 7 people in line. SO, I decided to put my anxiety aside and use the electronic station to send a small package. It was quick, easier than I thought, and way faster than waiting for the staff to decide to stop hiding. I'm kind of on the fence here: First, I don't really go to the post office all that often. Second, I can't say my experience is really very different than any other post office I've been to. There are always tons of people in line regardless of which location I go to, city or suburbs. I will say the people who work here are really nice and they have gone out of their way to help me: once I had an issue with a package that was being held for me and they called me when it was ready to pick up. I do agree with other Yelpers that the wait is pretty long. It never seems they have enough people to handle the number of customers. Sometimes there is only one person early mornings despite the line being 10 people long. However, again, that is typical government office for ya'. Anyone ever been to the DMV? I really wish I had some advice as to when is the best time to avoid the crowd but again, I don't frequent that often. I do order stamps through the mail from this location (very convenient!) and they always get them back to me within a week or so. Overall, an "A-OK" experience. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is probably one of the worst post offices in the Chicago area. I have placed vacation holds on mail numerous times, only to have my mail stacked in my mailbox upon my return. Once, while gone for 1 month, I returned to find every unit in my 3-unit tier had mail held with my own vac. hold. I put through a change of address one month ago and am still waiting for my 1st piece of mail. The carrier supervisor had not informed temporary carriers to pull my mail for forwarding despite my constant calls to her. I don't know if it's a training issue or they just don't care. Inefficient is not a strong enough word to describe this station. Avoid if you can. read more

Not only are the clerks rude, the lines are always long and the p.o. is understaffed. But our main complaint is home delivery. At least one day a week (not Sunday, of course) we don't get our mail and on most days, when it does come, it's after dark, sometimes not until 8 pm. There is NO WAY to complain! The post office phone number gets you a recorded message. The email goes who knows where. We cannot complain!! This service is terrible, much worse this year than ever before. read more
