Several…read moremonths ago I had them pack and ship some things for me and all my fragile items arrived unharmed - going from Oregon all the way to Ohio. I like their location because I usually drop off packages on my way out of town and they are on the main road in Ontario that leads to the highway. Last week I had to send off a couple returns and ship a box back home but all three boxes were different carriers so Smith's was the perfect place to save time. They can also do things like faxing, copying, and printing. I believe they even have a notary. Having Smith's here is really convenient and they have great service. Jeannine is usually the one who helps me and she is always patient even when I have a lot of questions. She seems to really care about her customers and I never worry when I have to have them pack things for me. Side note - it's off street parking but it's four spaces (two and two adjacent each other). If you can pull through then it's fine but if you have to back out, well, I've seen a few people struggle with this so just be mindful when parking if cars are already there. It's really not that bad (My full size SUV has no problem backing out) but I needed to mention for those who are a little unsure when parking or backing out.

And she begrudgingly opened the plastic bag to put it back inside saying "happy returns won't look at it anyways. It's just going to sit there. There's no point in putting it in there." Whether or not this was an accurate statement, this was INCREDIBLY discouraging and not what you want to hear when it comes to sending something of value. Do better.

There is a friendly banter that seems fun and personable which I have observed with those who appear to be regulars. (I am new to Star) I recently witnessed a lady working in the front with pretty eyes who was so kind and patient with an elderly woman while she chatted. When I commented on how I appreciated that she did not rush this older lady, but took time to hear her story, she told me, " I have elderly clients come in that only buy one stamp maybe once or twice a week and I think this may be some of the only interactions they get. They just buy a stamp so they can have a brief conversation with someone." This warmed my heart, and I hope it warms yours. With people like this working here it makes me want to come back. Let's all remember this is the post office and not UPS or FedEx. They are not for profit and so they do not create our labels, or tape up our packages for us. Those are expectations for the profitable corporations that charge double. I still marvel that they will carry my letter across the United States for a fraction of a dollar. I know it has doubled since it was 33 cents in 1999. Uhhh, what about the cost of food in the last 5 years?

I did NOT want to spend my day off walking to and from the washer and dryer at home that is not in my home but rather in a detached shop, crossing muddy drives. No thank you! I did myself a solid favor and called them to ask if I could take them about 4 loads worth and they said come on over! I didn't drop off until around 11am and it was ready by 6! All of it! All of it was cleaned and folded for around $150! This WAS so worth it to me! I wasn't in the mood, the headspace, or had the patience to tackle all of this after hiking in deep woods in the wet and cold. I just wanted help and I was willing to pay for it! The team there were all so wonderful and friendly! They offered help to unload and load back up and were just great!
