I noticed that my package to my PO Box was sent here instead of to my local office. After calling customer service repeatedly, I finally received a return call 4 days later letting me know my package had been picked up from the box's owner. Umm, no shit Sherlock. The idea of me contacting you though was to attempt to INTERCEPT the package PRIOR to it being picked up but when it takes days to do so, what does one really expect? After speaking to several different agents, they were "attempting" to get in "contact" with the owner of the box in "hopes" of "retrieving" my package. Once again, after being given the run around for a week or so, I'm contacted and told they couldn't "acquire" the package because the box they put it in belongs to the Flyers organization and really is just too big to "track" down. Yeah, that's "IF" you believe they even made a real life attempt. The woman than continued to tell me I could "try" to file a claim but likely wouldn't get my money back because she refuses to admit that they distributed my package to a box that clearly had a different zip code. Just when I thought I disliked my regular office, the lackadaisical effort and personality of these employees have given me a newfound appreciation for my local office. They've actually annoyed me so bad I just marked off South philly on possible areas to move to just so I don't have to deal with anymore of their incompetence. Ugh. read more

Absolutely, unequivocally, the absolute worst post office on the face of the Earth!!! And, that IS NOT an exaggeration! If you ever need a large package delivered..... well, you're screwed. Unless, you have no life, and/or don't mind sitting in front of your door all day waiting for a delivery that may or may not come. And, if your delivery man actually does show, he most likely will not knock or ring your bell. He'll just slide a pink slip in your door and run like hell back to his truck, just in case you actually heard your mail slot go "clink". Just do yourself a favor and shoot yourself... at least that will be a quick death. read more

My review may be biased, because I've never actually set foot in this post office. However, everytime one of my packages goes missing, I have to call my home post office, which I guess is this one. Whoever talks to me on the phone is always exceptionally nice and goes above and beyond to make sure my packages get delivered to me. I'm always pleasantly surprised by the great customer service here, compared to any of my old post offices in 19130, 19123, 19104, 19103, and all but one lady at 19106. read more

I am pretty sure this place is run by Newman. You know, from Seinfeld. When I got to the post office today around 4:45, I was 15th in line. Yes, I counted. There was one window open for people who needed to send a package or buy stamps (I had to do both) and another guy handing package pickups. I saw a bunch of employees standing around. You would think at the end of the day folks would want to pitch in to get the customers out the door so everybody could go home... but no. I heard several conversations between the package guy and customers about lost packages, meaning, I hope to God I never have to pick up a package there because with my luck it'll get lost in the shuffle. At 5pm on the nose some manager lady walked out and locked the door. But not before she turned someone away who said to her, "I was here yesterday and they couldn't find my package." She told them they would have to come back tomorrow. Cold blooded! The last time I was at this Post Office to mail a package which I wanted to send first class, they denied having any non-Priority mail boxes or tape and claimed that I had to mail the stuff Priority. I had to shout and argue to get a roll of normal packing tape to appear so I could seal the stupid Disney Christmas box I had to buy. This time, I clearly said "First Class please" and my package was magically marked PRIORITY MAIL at the jacked-up rate. But at that point I just wanted to get the hell out of there that I didn't even care. Don't ever go to this Post Office. If you have to pick up a package there, and I hope you never do, you might seriously consider whether the package is that important... you might just want to leave it there. read more

OK, what people said about the lines is so true. Honestly, I've been in line for 45 minutes before. I'd say the average is like 10-15. The staff seems rude to some people but I think they deserve it. I've never had a problem with them and find them enjoyable, especially when they are yelling at someone. Told an employee I didn't have my package slip since I left it home and thought that I might as well stop by on my way of doing errands. Gave her my address and she couldn't find my package. Upon telling me that she couldn't find it, I asked an "Hmm are you sure?" and she said yes, she couldn't find it, and continued on telling me how people think their packages turn up at that location, when it's really not there. She told me that without the physical slip in her hand, she couldn't do anything. I just assumed that since this PO is my neighborhood hub, my package would have been there, so I just thought that maybe it was at a center city FedEx. I get home, look at the package slip, and it's at SOUTHWARK. Now I have to make an extra trip to that dreadful place. I don't know what difference it makes that you have a slip or not, GET OFF YOUR CHAIR, DO YOUR DAMN JOB AND CHECK. Either they need a more organized system or better employees. This isn't the quickest post office ever, but most of the tellers are some of the nicest human beings I've ever met. They have been nothing but helpful and genuinely interested in my small business. On the other hand, I had a very bad experience with the post master(?) who was on the other spectrum of humans...he was incredibly rude and took no accountability for his mistake. Unless you're picking up a package or buying stamps, I recommend pre-paying for postage online and just dropping your packages in the window without having to wait in line. read more

Wow. I was given their direct number by the National USPS Center because they delivered a package they weren't supposed to and left it in the lobby of an apartment building where I no longer live (they had the front door code). I called the office, and it was clear they were just letting it ring. So, I just kept calling. Someone finally answered after my 4th call and then put me on hold for 15 minutes (probably hoping I would hang up). When they finally took me off hold, they just put me on hold again for 5 minutes. The person I then spoke to said someone would come immediately to pick up the package and send it back. They never came. This site is not known for its customer service, and this is a glaring example of why. The product representative I spoke to said that dealing with USPS is worse than just refunding people their money and calling it a loss. read more

It doesn't matter what time of the day you come. This post office has long lines. Seriously, it takes 20-30 minutes to drop off a prepaid package. Lines are disorganized too. Sometimes theres a seperate line for package pick ups, but they don't really tell you until you're waiting 10 mins in the wrong line. Smh. Only 3-1/2 hours of weekend hours with only ONE WINDOW OPEN! This place is unbelievable. At opening time in Saturday there were already 18 people waiting in line. 20 minutes later it's down to 10. It took me an hour to pick up a package! What is a working person to do, who has a package to pick up? No wonder FedEx and UPS will kill the post office off. Not a damn consideration for customer needs. ONE WINDOW with this limited hours. The excuse of cutbacks may have some validity, but bring in a consultant to figure out how to do it better - there has to be a better way. This is a death spiral for the post office. HOWEVER - once I got to the window, the woman helping me was incredibly nice and helpful. My criticism here is NOT a criticism of the individuals here at the post office, but of how it is set up, managed, staffing decisions, hours, etc. Management is the problem, not the individual workers. read more

I am writing this for the Broad/Morris post office - which is such a terrible and useless place that it doesn't even have a spot here. 1. xmas 2012 THREE of my packages sent to my po box disappeared. I got the stupid PO box because things were stolen off my stoop. So If things get stolen from the PO BOX - which I pay for WHAT THE HELL IS THE PURPOSE of having a post office? The vendors credited me, thank god. But the people at the front - told me that they hire temp help and that they probably stole them. Philadelphia is the place where mail workers steal your federal mail. I went back three times at the advice of the counterperson. Finally she asked me for my phone # in case they "turned up." I mean, WTF is this? Where am I ---- rural indonesia or a metropolitan city?!! 2. The one time I needed to mail something overseas in my life --- they were "all out" of the customs forms. I took a cab there to find this out. Visit a philadelphia post office ---- any of them--- if you want living proof that US mail will one day be privatized. read more

Without a doubt the worst post office ever known. Lower skills and poorer service with more f!cked up outcomes cannot be found. In my opinion, the super-negative reviews that this post office has gotten are totally unfair. I am an avid Ebay and Half.com seller as well as an Internet shopping junkie and I have to say that this neighborhood post office has been the best that I have ever dealt with in regards to communication and customer service. I live only a few blocks away from this post office and my apartment building does not provide a secure place for packages to be dropped off. This post office has always --- ALLLLLWAYS held my packages for me until I am ready to pick them up. Once I get the chance to grab them, rather than standing in line to wait for the next clerk, they normally have a clerk set up in what I like to refer to as the "special package room". This clerk occasionally opens up the door to the room and asks if anybody is there to pick up packages, or rather than waiting for them to ask you can simply knock on the door and hand them your orange pick-up slip. They have never lost anything and they have always been very friendly and helpful. In regards to shipping, this station certainly needs more clerks at the windows during busy times as the line can be extremely long. However, as long as you have all of your items packed up properly and ready to be shipped, you will surely be taken care of quickly and courteously. read more

I use the Snyder Ave. office whenever possible, even though the Dickinson Street location is closer, and my hub- but I'd rather take the extra time and drive the extra distance just to avoid this place at all costs. Every time I see one of those peach colored "Sorry we missed you!" slips for a package in my mailbox, I immediately get nauseated knowing I have to step foot into this particularly awful ring of hell to retrieve it. I know what you're thinking- "hey! you can call and have them redeliver that package!". HA! that package would get returned to the sender before they would even try to redeliver it. As soon as you step through the doors, a little bit of your soul immediately dies. There's usually at least 72 people in line and ONE clerk at the window, grumpily and slowly helping people. You can hear the sighs every few seconds from the angry and frustrated patrons and also the clerk. When you finally get to the window (I once clocked myself in at 42 minutes waiting in line), and the clerk disappears for upwards of 10 minutes trying to find your package, and then returns to the window just to tell you that they can't find it and to come back later, you swear you're on Candid Camera, or unwillingly taking part in some sort of horrible social experiment. Hey U.S. Government, do this city a favor and close this branch down already. In the meantime, I'm going to get a P.O. box at any post office but this one. read more

I have never experienced such horrible USPS postal service until moving to Philadelphia and dealing with this post office. The office itself, in person, is hit or miss. You may only wait 5 minutes, or you may wait 30+. The only redeeming part of this post office is that some of the employees are nice. However, expect there to be only 1 person, maybe 2, working at peak times. This post office is the most dishonest I have ever encountered when it comes to deliveries. I have orders that are frequently delivered to my house. About 50% of the time when they ship through USPS, USPS enters "delivery attempted" into the system even though they never attempted delivery. I know because I was home the whole day, including the time that they claim they completed delivery, and there was no delivery slip left. The new one they use is "undeliverable- could not locate address" and the package gets returned to sender. All of this is a joke (my address is absolutely in their system, and correctly labeled), and the only thing I can think of is that lazy delivery drivers don't feel like completing their routes. And when any of these happen, good luck getting a redelivery attempted. I have attempted to schedule redeliveries online, which USPS recommends, but they never leave the post office. You are basically forced to go pick up the package in person, often without a slip. So, you can pay for express delivery, but good luck getting it delivered. I've filed complaints with USPS but of course nothing changes. This post office is only one step up from the post offices that steal items from packages or "loses" them (and those do exist as well). AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

I love my neighborhood post office, it reminds me of the post office of my youth. The PO boxes are beautiful and antique, and the cowboy theme on the walls are dusty and smoke stained. Would you people prefer a new post office that looked like any other post office built in the suburbs in the last ten years? The people are always nice there, yes there are lines but I don't view that as the fault of the employees, there are just lots of people sometimes. Its possible that all of you who dislike the post office so much might question how you are approaching the people who work there. Unfortunately sometimes you just walk into an Orwellian State Building. This place is incredible. I mean first of all there are 3 or 4 windows, but generally only ONE person working the counter, occasionally TWO. I have only been there less than 30 minutes waiting once, and I have been to this dump at least a hundred times. It's dirty inside. The real crap fact of it all is there is a damn post office 2 blocks from my house on Snyder Ave, but when the post office doesn't deliver a package which is NORMAL for this place I get a slip to go pick it up 18 blocks away at this shittastic place. I have sat on my step for hours only to go in and find out that the delivery was "attempted" while I was sitting there, amazing I have no idea how they snuck past me, knocked on the damn door, and then slinked away. Maybe I blinked. The fact is not only have I complained to the post office which is a waste of time, I have continuously complained to Amazon. I have prime account, that means TWO day free shipping. The post office marks everything from Amazon as "delivered" when it's not. It's at the freaking post office. I did not PAY FOR THE AMAZON PRIME ACCOUNT SO THAT I COULD DELIVER THE DAMN THING MYSELF. I don't work for the effing post office. Arranging an online redelivery results in NOTHING. They just wont do it. CALLING they still don't do it. And I'm calling bullshit on all the 5 star reviews I'm 100% convinced they are other postal workers, there is NO way these people have been to this place and gotten awesome service. read more

Aw, I'm sad that no one likes this Post Office. I've always had really good luck here. When I sold my textbooks over Amazon, the postal worker checked all of the zip codes and weights of the books and told me the cheapest way to mail it. The line can be a little slow sometimes, but it's nowhere as bad as the one on 9th and Market. My only complaint is that they freaked when I tied my very small dog to the radiator by the door because I didn't want him to get stolen if I tied him outside. read more

I wish to decrease this to 0 stars- this post office gets my blood boiling. I am considering moving just to avoid using this place. I recently missed a package delivery, even though I was home, because I don't think they rang the doorbell. I then went back to the post office to claim the package and they said it was still out on a truck. I asked if it was going to be redelivered and they said no, but I could request redelivery on the post office website. So, I went home and requested redelivery. Well, it was never redelivered. So, I went back to the post office AGAIN only to interact with a cashier/counter associate that said not a single word to me during our entire exchange. We wonder why the USPS is in so much trouble, ha?! I am considering paying for shipping on Amazon just to avoid having to deal with this post office! read more

This may have been the first time that i was in and out in less than a half hour. Any other post office experience I could have been the only person or one of a 100 and it would take at least a half hour. I was third in line and felt like things were moving slow initially but once the second window clerk came back she got the two people in front of me in and out and was super nice and helpful with me. After reading all the reviews Ive decided not to post in detail what happened today. I was greeted by a very nice woman behing the counter, told me i dont have to wait in the long line to drop off my packages. I go to the window i was directed to and MADEA (google Madea goes to jail) was there waiting for me and scolds me for printing my labels out the previous night.. .she said it hurts their ratings, umm no i think its your attitude hurts your ratings. I had to deal with her before a few years back and she was very bothered by having to find my package that was lost in her office. I dont know how she still had a job. read more
