Although the person was nice nice schukyll post office lost our held mail. Said the carrier delivered it, after we went to pick it up. Our mailbox is small, no way held mail would fit. Supervisor said the same thing. That mail was delivered. Will not deviate. I lived in the area 5 years ago and the same thing happened. I told my partner about that's and we thought "no way twice". Well it happened again. Anyone else have this issue? can I give less than 1 star?? read more

The post office gets a lot of flake and it's understandable so. You want your packages on time and if you miss them you don't want to wait on long lines for them. The government needs to update its system because if they can fix it, it's not broken, but lord outdated is outdated. Over the summer the regular ladies here were both out sick. The post office varied from closed, staggered hours and being open but a mess. The people covering came from different post but they did the best they could. Boxes were stacked all behind the counter. I waited for like a good hour in the madness and the guy behind the counter and the lady in the back dealing with the rush before closing and PO Boxes not properly being filled found my 2 packages in the sea of things. They did a good job for what they were dealing with. When the regulars came back they had heard all about it and did a good job of clearing things out. We very much appreciate the Lisa's & their presence was missed during that time. read more

I'm not going to go jumping for joy over this post office or anything, but its parking lot alone makes me very happy that its our default location. How many other post offices in the city have a parking lot? Maybe they all do, I actually have no idea, but I'm thinking probably not. The counter closes at noon on Saturdays but during the week it's open until at least 5. There's rarely a line of more than one or two people, and the woman who typically works the counter is efficient, if a little brusque. But hey, as long as I can get my stamps and packages in a timely manner, that's just fine with me. read more

I can't really imagine this post office being worse, with the sole exception that the employees have been nice in our interactions with them. We lived in Philly for a spell a couple of years ago and needed to send packages abroad. They were repeatedly returned to us for a problem with filing customs papers, et al. The employee helping us simply didn't know what forms needed to be filled out. This is outrageous. Deliveries were no better. All the time we'd get UPS reliably delivering to our door, but the postal service would often "forget" or not even ring our bell (if they actually came...I'm a little skeptical) before we'd get an email saying a delivery was attempted. Often no note, and when it came no information besides this POs address. POS is actually a pretty good name for this office, come to think of it... read more

It's a post office. Essentially it fulfills its intended purpose. I do wish there were more counter staff during busier times, and dually wish the staff on call were friendlier. But it's fine. They've always been cordial. Aside from that the parking lot sucks but I don't feel like that is the post offices fault. read more

They're understaffed. There is always a line throughout the day that moves as slow as a slug since they don't have enough employees to help you. I just want mail like every other person in my neighborhood. I should not have to call the post master general to get normal mail delivery. I'm not looking for packages, live animals or hazardous material, just the simple little envelopes that you put a stamp on and send. They lost my certified package and gave me a number to call which never connected even though I called multiple times during their business hours. They insist they sent it back even though the sender never got the package back. They are refusing to even try to look in the back in case it was misplaced. I got scolded for not coming earlier, which might be fair if this location were not open only within my working hours, and only open for a limited time on Saturdays. read more

They are horrible! I don't mind the hours but, the service me and my wife have received over the past few weeks was not up to standard. My wife ships packages off for her business, and they [The boxes] do not need to be paid for because of the size, and weight, That was told to us the First time. One female postal worker continues to fault my wife for a wrong shipping box, and make her get "New" boxes [that have to be paid for] with different information on the box, and re package it as domestic box, but its the same box my wife packages and ships each time. And without fail she continues to fault my wife and inconveniencing her each time she tries to ship something. One worker there got smart with my wife one time and told her "You herd what She [Female postal worker] said" when she directed my wife to get another box and repackage the ONE item in it. Is there something that we can do, some kind of complaint I can file or re-review the shipping policies. I had already anticipated the ubiquitous pink slip in my mailbox when I arrived home from work. I had been waiting for a week for this package whose arrival time my mind had played forward and back, again and again. It was a rare lull in my 7-day, 60 hour workweek, and I snatched the pink paper blindly while running to my car. I drove, it rained, traffic parted to guide me to my destination, doors flew open and welcomed me in. After reaching the beginning of new life at the end of a gray, shuffling line, I handed the folded card to the clerk who greeted me with warm antipathy. She returned moments later with a medium brown box and passed it off to me. "Have a good day, Sean". Only my name's not Sean. My name is not Sean Williamson, and that is not my address. I correct the malevolent clerk and send her reeling back to the purgatory of cardboard architecture- "My address is 1238; the name is Theresa." She traced the same path as first. "This says Theresa." "Yes, that's my mother's name." "Then you need her ID." "She doesn't even live at this address. I have no way of getting that." "Then we'll send someone out with another slip in the morning." "So if I have the slip, I can just walk out with the package with no further hassle?" "That's right" "Can I have Sean's package back?" Virtue becomes her. The same government cog who had previously pilfered an innocent man's mail with little coaxing was now ordering me back into the lobby where I had waited with patience that in hindsight paints my face shameful. This place deserves ZERO stars. I just moved to the area and I have been trying to get them to deliver my 2 day express delivery for over a week. They "left" a notice and then LOST my package. When they finally recovered it a week later they said they would re-deliver because since my license is not my new address I am not allowed to pick it up. Then then re-delivered it at 4:30 and "left" another notice. I did not receive a notice either time. I am beyond frustrated. I am NEVER sending a package to my house again. I have yet to receive my package and I cannot argue another day with Aisha the employee who answers my phone calls. read more

this is the only city where i have received rude behavior with the employees at usps, the attitude & service is despicable! every time i have to go into this location i cringe praying that this will be a smooth and good experience. this never happens! the women behind the desk middle aged short hair/African American should look for a new job if you're that unhappy. these are some examples.. 1.smile 2.ask : what can i help you with today!? 3.be proficient & pro active 4. ask " is there anything else i can help you with? do you need stamps today?" 5. do not rush or push customers out of the way so you can go home on time during closing. its the busiest time of year (Christmas) you should have expected ms. cranky, i hate the world! just a few ways to create a warm friendly experience for your customers, remember you have a job!!!! i guarantee someone out there can do it better then you and would be grateful! i give this one star only because it's open for half ass business. ps. usps you should start recruiting...fasttttt read more

I've lived in many cities and had to deal with a lot of post offices and this branch on Grays Ferry Road will surely ruin your day if you have to deal with them. I've had countless packages that they have said they tried to deliver, yet there was never a pink slip in my mailbox. The times I have gone into the branch they're so busy doing everything but helping customers that they make it seem like you are a nuisance. Oh and forget about mail delivery, you better hope that you don't have a substitute carrier because the mail will almost definitely be delivered to the right number address but wrong street. I'm at the point with this branch that I will pay extra to have FedEx or UPS deliver packages instead if deal with the nightmare that is the Grays Ferry Branch. read more

I've never had to endure dealing with such a terrible post office. 1. This post office will not redeliver your packages. You can submit the redelivery form online, mail your pink slip (assuming they actually leave you one) or call the main post office line to schedule redelivery, but ultimately this post office will keep your package until you pick it up. They even admitted to me that they don't check redelivery forms. 2. They deliberately keep the phone off the hook. Even the post office main helpline can't get through. 3. I've received my neighbors mail on a weekly basis and vice versa. 4. They've lost a package of mine more than once On the plus side, the two at the front desk on weekends are very nice...but clearly this post office needs new management and a code of ethics...or should just shut down. read more

What a disgrace. I received an attempted delivery slip in my mailbox for a certified letter. The delivery person put the wrong address on the slip and only wrote my last name, which is on my mailbox, in the intended recipient box on the slip. Of course, the delivery person did not bother writing down the sender's name or the USPS tracking or article number. I tried calling the post office to ensure that the letter was truly intended for me, since the delivery person wrote the wrong address and could have simply copied my last name from the mailbox. No one ever picked up the phone and no one ever called me back. I just recently received an attempted "re-delivery" slip. Again, no sender's name or tracking/article number was written down. However, my full name and my correct address was written down. The problem is that the delivery person backdated her attempted delivery to one day before she actually tried to redeliver the letter--writing Friday's date as the day of attempted delivery, not Saturday. I know she backdated it because I was home all day Friday. No one knocked on the door, and I checked my mail. Here's the kicker: They're returning the letter to the unknown sender on Monday. So, the manipulative incompetents at this post office decided to give me "final notice" a day before they're sending the letter back, and in order to cover their ass, they backdated it so that they can claim that they gave me more notice. read more

i have had more issues with this post office than i have collectively had with all of the post offices that have managed mail delivery over my lifetime. because you can't choose the post office that delivers your mail, i won't go into all of the specifics, but suffice it to say, i'll be glad when i move to a different geographical area. i will give kudos to bill, the saturday front counter worker, who is great. he's really efficient and super nice. read more

This post office is highly incompetent when it comes to communicating and tracking packages. When I called all throughout the week that my package was supposed to be delivered they assured me it was in route. When the final day came and my package did not arrive I called them to see what the issue was. They had no idea where my package was and did not know what to do... Now i'm down 2 packages and they are down a customer. At least UPS tracks their packages. read more

The women who work the counter are surly. The gentleman, I believe his name is Bill, is extremely pleasant on the other hand. They are very unhelpful and do not have packing tape - should you need to seal a normal package bring your own. Classic overpaid government employees. They normally only have one or two stamp selections. Better to order them online if you'd like something specific. read more

This is the best post office I have used in Philly. Nice, efficient and helpful people -- which is invaluable to me! The post office on Chestnut St by 20th or so is closer to me at work, but the lines are long, the staff there is really slow and disengaged -- so I really appreciate the Grey's Ferry staff. Any season that I go, they are great. read more

I've been going to this post office for the past two years and I think they are quite decent, in particular for Philly standards. In addition to picking up my mail, I use it frequently to send packages and the workers have watched me bumble through not knowing which tape goes with what kind of mail and always helped me figure it out. They don't have easy jobs and some of the customers in there can be pretty rough, so fact that they are still friendly most of the time leaves me impressed. Yeah, the parking does suck and there often isn't a spot, but this post office deserves credit where it's due! read more

This station has gone WAY downhill since the 2 people who worked there several years retired. The main lady, with the pony tail and wrinkled skin, is EXTREMELY rude and non caring towards customers. They are always under staffed and take forever to help or do anything for customers, even though we all pay their salaries. read more

If I could give this place a negative star, I would. Never in my life have I endured such incompetence - 2 day priority mail turned into 8 to 10 day priority mail. And this is not a one-time, isolated occurrence. I unfortunately went through this twice within one month. One package I received. The other - only God knows where that ended up. Obviously the employees at the PO can't read because they were trying to deliver the package to a completely different street address. And they will never hesitate to lie right to you - "its out for delivery. you'll get it by the end of the day." - 5, 6, 7 days and your patience wears a little thin. This definitely the worst PO I've encountered. I rarely use the PO anymore and will do everything in my power never to have to deal with the fools in this office again. read more

This location is horrible. First of all, the person who delivers the mail on my street CONSTANTLY marks whatever he wants on the tracking number. I've had to call their godforsaken office many times to track my packages. There is never an apology but always an excuse. They really need extended hours since most of us that work cannot make it 9-5 Monday through Friday. Aside from a few jam packed hours on sat morning, you don't have much of a chance to pick up packages. If I could stop using the USPS I would be most happy. Unfortunately the government requires the use of the postal service to prop up this antiquated entity. They have a habit of not delivering packages. Especially FedEx SmartPost packages. The packages come in and are placed on a shelf with no delivery attempts made. Unless you know that you have a package coming you are at a complete loss for getting your things. They don't make delivery attempts and they don't do scheduled redelivery attempts. It's a shame the USPS cannot fire people for non-performance. read more

All I needed was to pick up a package , but since I didn't have my pink slip they made me wait in an hour line. When I finally got up there I showed them my ID and since I go to school my address was different. I couldn't pick my package up. They should have nicely informed me, but instead hey were rude. Matter of fact they were not only rude to me, but to everyone in line before me. This job involves customer service, which they unfortunately can't comprehend. Mail service is delivered on time every day around 4 p.m., but where I lived are apartments(separate units) and my mail is delivered to the next door which required the mail carrier to possess a key for rntrance. Somrtimes the mail carrier will placed all the mail in my separate mailbox and sometimes he/she will placed all the mail next door. This means that we generally do not received our mail in a timely manner. I addressed this to every mail carrier and usually it stops, but then it starts over again.. We hope that this be fixed quickly and stay fix in the future. read more

This is NOT a good place for delivering mail. Sent my daughter 2 packages 3 weeks before Christmas. There wasn't a slip for either package. One they sent back to me in California, because it was unclaimed, yet the week before Christmas she went several times to inquire about them. The second has a notice on tracking page saying "status not updated," (on the 18th of December). It was sent out from the post office, but never delivered, nor was there a slip on her door. It seems to have been taken by someone on the delivery truck or something. Disappeared into thin air!!!! NOT A HAPPY CAMPER! It had warm clothes for my daughter and now she has to go out and buy another bunch. :( read more
