Delivered Mon. 8th, todays date Tues. 9th and no packages
    Darren W.

I didn't think the post office can do this, but this hasn't been the first time. Waited for 2 packages that show they are "Out for Delivery". I couldn't wait any longer at my place of business, and left. An hour later my packages show that they were delivered. I go back to my place of business to find out they were never delivered, just scanned "Delivered" I'm not talking about "Attempted Delivery Business Closed" I'm talking about scanning them delivered when they were not. Maybe I will get them today, but who knows. Very aggravating, and unethical.

Photo of mail truck who refused to help a teenage girl in need.

U.S. Postal Worker (Sunnyslope) goes "Postal" on a 5'5" teenage girl in need: I know that the U.S. Post Office has a big job, but I have to share an experience with one of their employees who was super hostile and unhelpful with my teenage daughter. On April 21, 2022 (yesterday) at 18th Street and Glendale area my daughter's car got a flat tire. Unfortunately, she did not have her cell phone with her to reach my wife or myself for help. She was alone a few miles from the house and had two small dogs with her. She approached a letter carrier in Truck #9205757 for help to see if he could help her by calling us for help. Not only did the mailman refuse to help her, he also was mean to her, accused her of soliciting money from him for gas (she didn't need his money) and made her cry when she was needing help. This heartless individual refused to help a 5'5" teenage girl who was alone with two small dogs. My daughter walked a few miles to the house in the heat of the day, without H2O, while carrying both dogs. Later that day that same mailman was delivering mail to our house (he's our mailman!) and when asked about the situation he told my son that he didn't help because he gets scammed all the time. I understand that the Post Office is not roadside assistance, but what adult human being refuses to help a teenage girl who is in need?! Today I called the Sunnyslope Post Office and the phone rang for several minutes before it hung up on me. 4/26/22- I've attempted to reach out to the Sunnyslope U.S. Postal Service to speak to a manager and no one ever answers the phone. Phone rang multiple times and then the line hangs up.

    Happy Birthday 2u!!

I'm on my third set of owners and the previous 2 were friendly and very much created a community (Moon Valley) atmosphere in the store. Not so with the new owners who took over late last summer. I would now describe the store and owners as cold, unfriendly and definitely not helpful. Last week I attempted to drop off 2 packages to return to the original merchant. Several stores do this (Old Navy, Gap, Natural Life) ...the customer wants to return an item. The customer fills a form on the company website, prints out a receipt, and a mailing label, and is supposed to drop off the return package to a mailing facility. Usually, the returning package needs to be resealed, and the new mailing label taped on. I've been doing this for years at Moon Valley Postal and, in fact, did such a return about 4-6 weeks ago with no problem. Easy-peasy. This time when I dropped off my packages, the employee looked at me like I had just dumped a pile of dog poop on the counter. I was then informed that the packages could not be returned in the manner they were left. Yes...I told the employee that I needed the package to be sealed and the return label taped on. I was informed "We don't do that." When I pointed out that it was no problem on a return that I dropped off previously, I was informed "We don't do that anymore." Hmmm...I wondered why the change in service? Was the employee too busy? When I walked in, there was no one else in the store (in fact, the last couple of times I have been in the store, I was the only customer there.) And the employee was just standing behind the counter. So, I don't think that sealing my packages was really taking them away from a bigger task. Is it a cost issue because I would need them to seal the package and return label on using their mailing tape? How much does a roll of clear mailing tape cost? So, after I was told that they "no longer do that anymore" I scooped up my packages and headed out the door to the UPS store across the street. The employee called out a cheery "Have a Nice Day!" as I left the store. Yea...you too!

I asked about if they had a post office vehicle ornament this year, and was absolutely shamed for it "I've worked for 10 years here and have never seen a mail truck or post office themed" so I showed her the one I bought from this location last year and the year before for my husband. It's in the "on the road collection" to which she responded with ALL the sass "well, we obviously don't have it and I've never seen it". As someone who collects hallmark ornaments and drove 3 hours to come to this store and waited an hour for it to open (which it opened 7 minutes past the time on the door) this experience was so disheartening. Was she busy? No, we were the only customers in the store, but was she running around the store like her mortgage was late? Yes. She stated she called the owner who told her "she's never seen one ever". Like it was her mission during my visit to discredit me. I tried to save the visit by asking if they had lighthouse ornaments. My grandma is who I collected these hallmark ornaments with. But she passed this year and it would be so cute if Hallmark released a lighthouse ornament this year. To which she said " I don't think Hallmark designs the ornaments around your life events". Gross. We left the Barbie ornament and will order online.

I've seen staff empty out the same bin into a collection cart while tossing in boxes and muttering insane SON OF SAM things like "stupid people. What's wrong with people? Ugh!" Things *I* say, but mostly about the STAFF AT THIS POST OFFICE! Today I drove all the way over to ship packages with pre-paid postage knowing the staff wouldn't be present but the self-service box would likely be jammed... didn't even get that far! The ship station was out of printer paper and couldn't print ANY labels. I've seen them without receipt paper before, but this time it was the shipping labels and stamps! Wtf. They literally want to do the least, and they won't even let automation step in by letting customers do their job. I've had no less than 4 cases opened with USPS HQ where they've had to investigate the dumbest problems, and only THEN were they resolved. A missing green card, mail holds that never ended, other lost packages that show up after an agent had to research. Never drive to this post office if you need to ship something with a deadline.

I will review both at the same time along with the surrounding area. First, U.S. Post Office itself also known as the "Federal Building-U.S. Post Office" was built in the 1930s and was intentionally designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. I find all of the staff who have helped me at the post office portion of the building on the first floor have been very friendly and helpful though there is often a queue during the day. The line usually goes fast, and the post office area is kept rather clean. When Arizona State University opened the Downtown Phoenix Campus in 2006, ASU took over the upper floor, basement level, and part of the first floor. ASU has the Student Center @ the Post Office on the first floor and then additional offices and conference rooms on all three levels. I have spent a lot of time on the upper floor where the Dean of Students office is as well as offices for Counseling Services, Student Connection & Community, Student Accessibility & Inclusive Learning Services, TRIO programs, ASU Police, Human Resources, and Career Services. On the first floor is the Student Center @ the Post Office (including the Undergraduate Student Government offices for and Changemaker Central) along with Facilities Management. On the basement is a space for ASU clubs and organizations, the Program & Activities Board offices, classrooms, and additional ASU academic services and offices. While the building is open from 8 AM to 9 PM on weekdays when classes are in session and 8 AM to 5 PM during breaks including the Summer. ASU offices are closed during weekends and university holidays. The only negative to the U.S. Post Office building is the challenge with security as there seem to have been a number of situations nearby right outside the north side of the building or even in the Civic Space Park on the south side of the building. Otherwise, the safety within the building is just fine, and the students, faculty, and staff at ASU still frequent the building. With a long history already between the post office itself and now ASU being there, I look forward to seeing what comes up next in the historic building!
