Very efficient post office. Lines can be long at times but there's always enough employees at the registers to make it go as quickly as possible. Staff is always helpful and courteous. 4 stars because place could be slightly cleaner. Possibly the worst Post Office in the country. Forget getting packages on time. You'll be lucky if your package isn't lost.

Horrible post office and leadership. They don't know how to deliver mail to the correct address. Let's say you live at 154 South Street they'll give you mail for 217 North Street. You complain to the postmaster and his head must be so far up where he's sitting disgraceful. And it happens over and over again. What do you expect from iq's less than a shoe size. read more

This post office is always jam packed whenever I come here. The people who work here are never exuberantly friendly but oh well. One cool thing about this office though is they have a 24/7 automated post office box inside the lobby. read more

US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - Port Jefferson Station, New York

If you're in a pinch and you absolutely need to go to a post office, then this place works just fine. Think bare minimum level of service. But if you want great customer service (meaning friendly, proactive, active listening, problem solving oriented, and knowledgeable), then this is not the post office to frequent. Try the Setauket office on Rte 25A. Much better customer service there. At least as of February 2022. Hopefully they get better in time. read more

I spent 30+ minutes in line here today just to have two packages I already had labels on scanned in to be returned. There was only one person working and no one in the back to come to her aid. I was number 4 in line and there were easily 10 people behind me, so I can't even imagine how long they had to wait. People kept getting off the line and leaving. I got to the point where I just decided it was an exercise in patience and challenged myself to wait it out. The first man in line was shipping a lot of packages so he as taking a very long time (not his fault). If there had been just one other counter person, I'm sure my wait would have been less than 5 minutes. I asked if there was anyone else that could help and I was told the only other employee was loading a truck. The phone was ringing non stop and no one was answering it. This post office is just totally understaffed. The lady that was working kept apologizing. I felt bad for her. She announced that if anyone knows anyone who needs a job??? It's clearly a problem they are aware of. There used to be a self serve area at this post office. When I asked about it I was told it was removed because of underuse. I only went to this post office because it is right next door to my gym. I thought it would be an easy quick in and out and save me an extra stop. Lesson learned. Next time, I will stop downtown or in Setauket instead. What a frustrating experience!!! read more

Called about getting a passport renewal and the woman on the phone told me to come right in. When I arrived the woman behind the desk asked me which form I needed to fill out and when i said a passport renewal form she then rolled her eyes at me and said "well there are two forms which do you need" and when I wasn't sure she got annoyed and grabbed my old passport out of my hand. She then told me she couldn't help me because they were completely booked all day even though they told me to come right in. This women was so unhelpful and rude and clearly was just annoyed that we were standing in front of her and asking her to do her job. read more
