I went to show him a QR code on my phone and he started typing info into my phone and when I asked what he was doing he told me to get out of his store. je never told me what he was doing and never asked for permission to type anything into my phone. he was annoyed that I was surprised that I had to pay $2 for a label when the post office doesn't charge. I didn't choose this place, I was sending a purchase to a customer who chose this method of shipping. If you can use USPS to ship, you should. My Item, (a heavier glass item, that was fairly thick and sturdy) shipped by Island Packaging & Shipping was damaged due very poor packaging. And although I stated the value in the request for a shipping quote, no coverage for the value was provided so I was only reimbursed for S100. I always state the value for a shipping quote, and I have never had a shipper not use the amount to provide coverage for damage, or otherwise offer the coverage if it is not in the quote. This is what you would expect, not that a shipper would ignore the stated value in the request. Island Packaging & Shipping blamed the carrier FedEx, but the damage was completely due to poor packaging of the item. I have had hundreds of shipments of antique and fragile items with no problems; this was not packaged well/safely. I understand that damage can occur due to a carrier, but FedEx is not at fault here - with the poor packaging of this item, it was destined to be damaged. I contacted Island Packaging & Shipping about the damage. They will respond to emails to get your business, but when you have a problem, they are extremely slow to respond and only after repeated emails asking them for a response. Regarding my damaged item, they stated the shipment was packed in accordance with industry standards for fragile items: 1 including a double-walled shipping carton rated for FedEx/UPS transit. The box was NOT double walled, it was a rather flimsy single walled box and was easily crushed, especially with the lack of sufficient packing material. 2 multiple layers of bubble wrap There was only ONE layer that was not sufficient 3 internal reinforcement There was none 4 air pillows to provide cushioning and prevent movement during transit There clearly was not enough if you were to rely on that, there was a lot of empty space that allowed the heavier item to easily move about and for the flimsy box to fail. Most of the pillows, over half, were deflated. The pillows didn't fill the void, and the item was NOT prevented from movement as shown by how the box was completely collapsed in. 5 packing peanuts were not used, as they are restricted in New York. Only Styrofoam peanuts are restricted, there are others available that would have protected the item. I requested reimbursement for my loss, but of course there was no response from them. They will not accept responsibility for their very poor packing that solely caused the damage. read more

Aside from this place being wildly overpriced, I used them a couple of months ago for something small, and the guy demanded cash. I only had my cards on me, and he refused credit cards, so I had to use the debit card that I had not used in 3 years, and within a couple of days, there were fraudulent charges on the card. Chase confirmed it had to have originated here. Today I needed to overnight a letter and check, in one envelope. He told me $52, which seems high, but I had no choice. I handed him $52 cash, and informed him and the woman what happened last time. He didn't confirm or deny it. She insisted it's impossible, that I insult her by saying stupid things, and demanded to know why they would do such a thing. I told her that since I'm not the one who did that, I wouldn't know, but that it was literally impossible that it happened anywhere else, as confirmed by my bank. I will not be returning there, and I strongly advise anyone who uses them, to check their card statements right away. read more

Usually great customer service but for some reason when Kelly? (long dark hair glasses) works it's rough (Monday afternoon for me). Bad service and rude attitude. She decided to help the lady who walked in after me, first then told me my code wasn't correct before even really looking at it. But decides to wait to tell me the simple $2 fee when it could have been the first sentence instead of trying to tell me my code was incorrect. My code was correct. lol read more

I use Island packing mostly when I need to return my textbook rentals through UPS. It is in an extremely convenient location, also next to a Starbucks, although the parking lot is a bit on the small side. Every time I have gone here I have literally walked in the door, gone right up to the cash register, scanned my package, got my receipt, and the left. All of this in the short time span of about 3 minutes. Needless to say, this packing store is very efficient! read more

My favorite place to go for anything shipping , copying and faxing wise! The staff there is always so super sweet to me and get me in and out QUICKLY. I hated waiting on line at the USPS and they are the closest Fedex and ups so they are so extremely convenient. They cover all shipping from any carrier, they fax local and international. You can make black and white or color copy's for cheap! Any shipping supply you could ever need is right there too. I've sent out multiple things that I've sold online and I've never had a problem. For some reason or another, I always forget about this place. It's probably because it's practically invisible, tucked away behind Starbucks. Every now and then I have to ship something via FedEx that will not fit in a drop box. This is the only place around that I am aware of that accepts FedEx packages, thus the reason for my visit today. The staff is friendly and helpful and they give you a receipt when you use prepaid labels so you never have to worry about being told you never shipped something. I like the convenience factor here. It's walkable distance from the grocery store and fits right in with my weekly errands. I usually drop my UPS packages at Staples, which is totally out of the way now that I've moved. This location accepts FedEx, UPS, UPS, and DHL packages. Moving forward, I will coming here for all of my shipping needs. I just have to remember it's here:) read more

I visited this store to overnight a package, I was excited to use a local business which seemed super convenient. When I approached the receptionist she gave me instructions on how to complete the necessary documents. The owner of the store was on the phone and asked me to complete paperwork elsewhere since he was on the phone, I responded with some confusion as neither myself or the receptionist were being loud. He then said "don't give me a fucking attitude" and proceeded to yell, curse, and ask me to leave the store, even going as far as coming out from behind the counter and coming at me. Very concerning and honestly confusing interaction. I left very shaken up and practically in tears. Needless to say I won't ever return. read more

Takes extreme advantage of people for shipping/packing supplies. Went in here the other day just for some "inexpensive" styrofoam peanuts They tried to charge me over $57!!! I then went to Ronco shipping supplies in Hauppauge and got a bag for $19. Are you serious???? Then, for only 25 feet of bubble wrap they are trying to charge $8.00........I pay $16 and change FOR 350 FEET!!! That's 8 times the price!!!! Beware of this company. read more

Great place. I got my boxes and personal belongings all sent when I move away to Wisconsin. The owner and staff are very friendly and efficient, and achieved what they promised to do. The packages arrived all intact and in great shape. Hassle free. It might cost a little more than you expected than other companies online, but it's totally worth it. I was skeptical since I saw the review on google and other sites were very mixed. But it turned out to be a great experience. I would highly recommend Island Packaging to my friends and the others!
