I almost found out first hand what the true definition of "going postal" meant today when I stopped by this post office... Several weeks ago, I came across one of those notices you get in the mail that says 'certified' or something like that... but unfortunately since no one was home to sign for it, the little post card said that I had to take it into the post office to pick up my mail. Ugh! Who wants to go to the post office to pick something up that they don't even know what it is let alone may not even want? So, needless to say, I procrastinated... but finally, today I had a few minutes to spare and decided to head over to the local post office to pick up my special mail. There must've been 20 people in there doing the same thing. The line was almost out the door! And there were only 3 people working so the line was moving slower than molasses. It didn't help that it was after 1pm and I hadn't eaten lunch so I was hungry! But I waited it out, and the girl that finally helped me was sweet and found my mail... and luckily it was good mail, not bad mail so it made the trip worth it! On top of that, I bought a sheet of cute heart stamps so now I have stamps to use when I need them! Props to the US Postal service for doing a good job in getting us our mail but I can't give you more than 3 stars this time! read more

I haven't received mail in almost a month despite 2 tickets (the first was marked as resolved after one day, i was told I have mail when I do not), multiple attempts of phone calls (nobody ever answers), a ticket with the BBB and 2 requested re-deliveries on packages. This is now my 2nd and 3rd package to go missing and I've had my last ticket open for over a week with zero response that anyone is handling it. I did my address change before I moved, I put the slip in my mailbox 2 weeks ago, my latest ticket is untouched and I not to. I just want my mail. This is so frustrating. If you wouldn't treat your own family this way I do not understand why you would do it to anyone else. Just desperately trying anything to get this resolved at this point. read more

This USPS location is a bit of a mixed bag -- almost always long lines, but friendly and (somewhat) quick service... occasionally even with a smile! I have been to this location quite a few times... and my biggest complaint (besides the consistently long lines) is that the relatively few parking spaces located near the entrance seem to usually be occupied. But hey, we live in paradise, so a short sunny walk never hurt anyone, right? The self-service machine seems to be under-utilized at most post office locations and the same is definitely true for this location... so here's my PRO TIP: if you're mailing a letter or something simple or just need stamps, then use the self-service machine. ***THREE STARS*** read more

So the normal guys that work here are amazing, and they help a lot. However there is a female here that is downright rude. She called next from across the way behind the plexiglass safety (they are very safe in masks, well not her but the others). And called a second time when I did not hear her. I apologized when I got up saying I was around a lot of explosives in my past and hearing wasn't great especially with all the protections in place. She said well I called three times and you didn't respond. Not what I'm used to but I guess protecting the rights of people to have free speech means even the words I don't like. What happened to putting small/medium envelopes orders into the locker when I doesn't fit inside my P.O. Box? Now I'm getting slips telling me to pick up my stuff at the window...I honestly don't have time to be waiting in love at the window, I only go pick up my mail when I'm on my lunch hour from work...when I order small things I get it sent to my P.O. The drivers lack the necessary intelligence to do their job. I've had packages sent to the SAME address for MONTHS only to have usps be the only carrier incapable of imputing an address and following directions. These are grown ass adults. No wonder why their are tax brackets filtering the people with a conscious and those without. read more

I run a small online business and am frequently using USPS for my mailings (domestic and international). the service I get at the main post office on Scottsdale and McDowell - as well as the little postal station at the Pebblestone on Scottsdale and Osborn - is excellent. Always helpful, mail and packages always arrive in good order and on-time. They do the Pony Express proud! AND - even the postman who delivers the mail to my mailbox is efficient, courteous, and always has a great attitude towards his work. read more

I turned in a temporary change of address form at the pot office on 6/28 to start 7/1 and end 7/31. Late I know but it still should have been done considering I did it at the post office. I never received anything at the new address except the temporary change of address packet from the post office. On 8/4, after attempting to call twice before but not being able to wait the astronomical wait time on hold I finally spoke with someone. She said there was no change of address on file for me. But the post office has blocked off my box and sent me a packet. She finds it under their packets confirmation number. At least the packet has a confirmation number! She confirms they have processed the temporary change of address but she doesn't know where my mail is. So yesterday 8/6 I receive an email from the post office basically saying they screwed up and need 10 to 14 days to get my mail back. I email back stating that I asked for a phone call from the post office. Some lazy guy calls me to tell me what I already know. They don't know what they've done with my mail. Thanks for no help. I'd be in better shape if I'd not done the right thing of changing my address. How could y'all screw up something so simple? Why bother paying for a PO Box if ya can't manage this simple task. I'm in worse shape now. Missing a piece of mail I can't just recreate and had been waiting for. The worst part, I get informed delivery so I've seen the mail that I'm FU----- missing! And! As of 8/4 they still had my mail box blocked off even though forwarding ended on 7/31. WHATS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS? I quit, UPS was more expensive for a P.O. The US Post Office has really changed over the years - and not for the better. I visited today to mail some padded envelopes. Surprise! The kiosk was down...again. Twice in a week. If it's not the kiosk down, the mail drawer is jammed. It's not clean. It's not well-staffed. And let's not even go into the horror story that was receiving your mail for the holidays. This new Postmaster General should be fired. Laying off people, getting rid of machines, cutting hours and services...you are making yourself more obsolete every day. Be better. read more

I would like to give this US post office NO stars!!! I made an appointment on line for a passport application. While at office (15 minutes before my scheduled appointment), I received a call from the Post office informing me that, the Clerck called in sick and so the appointment was cancelled. I asked if the Post office can get a supervisor or another staff to not cancel but continue to take all appointments scheduled? The response was "well! It's a holiday weekend for us" ... ... Always the best customer service with the optimal solution for your needs. This time I needed to renew my US passport. It took me a few days to figure out how to fill out the application, and it took the lady at the desk a few seconds to set things straight and put everything in a priority envelope to PA. Done. Easy. Paid the fee with a money order and with the priority option I can also track the envelope and take the survey at the bottom of the receipt. I like this location a lot. I've been to other locations in the past but they weren't that nice. Even when the waiting line is long they know how to speed up the process! Recommended. read more

What is up with the landscaping at the McDowell and Scottsdale Road location? The weeds are so high you could hide in them. Clearly they are not paying anyone to clean up the outside of this building. Can only imagine that it is in disrepair inside as well ( I never go inside, just drop mail off outside) Are they really in that bad of a financial situation that they can't afford to have the weeds removed? If I could rate this experience 0 stars I would. But I don't have that as an option. My mother, sister and I just went to this location for USA passport center to ask a couple questions regarding our passport applications. Just had a few questions to make sure we were doing things the right way. We had talked to Katherine, who did not let us get a single question across. She was extremely rude, would not let us talk or ask any questions. It seemed like she was in a bad mood and was having a rough day. In the middle of "helping" us, she answered a personal call. She kept interrupting us constantly as if she was having a conversation with herself. She kept talking over us and speaking to us like we're incompetent. Horrible customer service. Our questions are still not answered. Although writing this review I'm sure nothing will be done or addressed. This gives a horrible representation of how this location treats customers. We have an upcoming appointment and hope she is not the same employee helping with our passports. read more

This USPS post office location is a-ok. I love the location - near Old Town Scottsdale and an easy stop-in while doing errands around town. The parking lot is a little funky so make sure you watch signs on where to pull in, exits, etc. But all in all, it is what you'd expect from a US Post Office experience. I've had a mix of friendly and not-so-friendly service but hey, I don't usually go in with super high expectations. Most often, I bring in my boxes full labeled w/ pre-paid labels so all I have to do is drop them at the counter. We mailed our Christmas cards from here and they went out without a hitch as well. I love this post office. I have never been helped by an employee that has been anything but helpful and courteous and usually always service with a sense of humor. They do close at 4:30 and when it's busy and there is a line, they will cut it off before 4:30 so be aware. But over all I'm glad this is the closest USPS to me. read more

I frequent this post office during my work hours (or if I'm on my way to or from work). If I'm mailing packages and I'm around home, I go to the main post office on Van Buren. Anywho - Just stopped by here Monday and yesterday (Tuesday) to pick up a priority box and mail off my package. When I grabbed the box, no where on the box did it say that it was not the flat rate shipping box. That's what I thought I was picking up. So instead of paying $12.xx for shipping, I ended up paying $17.xx. So really, that's my only gripe. Have the shipping box area labeled accordingly, that way people know what type of boxes they're grabbing. read more

This morning we arrived at our business to find boxes on our door step of our shop with items worth in excess of $1,000 that had been left overnight. We close at 5:30 so the good news is when we arrived to open up shop it had not been stolen or damaged. It is hard to believe that any sober postman would have done this. We know the Post Office is undergoing change but it would have been far better to have left a tag than to have risked a major theft of some important items. The regular carrier and substitute in 85251 are exemplary while these have had either no or insufficient training on what to do when they are late on their routes. read more

This is your standard post office. Every time I've come to mail packages, it has been super busy. Thankfully the line moves faster than you'd expect, but still plan to wait 5-15 minutes to get to the counter. Most employees are fine but I've dealt with a few grumpy employees and had a couple of unpleasant encounters. Once I came here at about 430pm, with several international packages to send. They close at 5pm so it's not unreasonable to show up at 430pm. By the time I made it to the counter, it was about 450pm. The manager started closing up while I was still at the counter. He pulled the gate shut across the other service counters, all the way up to the counter where I was standing. He stood there and hovered over me and the employee behind the counter. He was talking to another employee (not the one who was helping me) about how much he hates people who come in at the end of the day and prevent them from closing on time. I have never felt more uncomfortable at a USPS. Obviously I will be back here because I send a lot of mail. My advice is to have your customs forms prepared and all addresses ready when you get to the counter. The staff are not patient or willing to wait. read more

My package was to be returned to sender due to an "insufficient address". I went to the post office to see if I could pick up the package before it was returned. Dane was a super star and was hustling through the package room to find my item. After not finding it in the back Dane went the extra mile to call the drivers to see what had happened. After not being able to reach them he asked for my contact number to reach out when he gets in touch with the driver. It is always great to encounter people with excellent work ethic and drive that is rare in today's world. read more

Wow, all I can say is how dare you abuse my autonomy and decide for yourselves to give MY package to my neighbor. I was home all day yesterday, saw the notification that my package was delivered 30 minutes ago, and was given to one of neighbors (I live in an apartment so that's 1 out of 100's of neighbors I'm supposed to go track down). I've never even spoken to my neighbors before, I can't believe you took it upon yourself to give MY package to a stranger. Then when I tried to call the post office, the phone line is disconnected. The guy walking the floor (i assume floor manager) pulled me from the line to use their stupid automated checkout machine. I didnt want to use it but he insisted i would get the same service. To no surprise, my box was too big to use this dumb machine and by the time i turned around this guy was gone and the line doubled. I looked up this Post Office to reschedule a Passport appointment, and the phone number would not come up. Not their fault. Then when the phone number did come up, it would not work - not completely their fault. Then when I got through, I stayed on the line - I was going to talk to a representative to reschedule my appointment and ask if I could get the new Passport without the original Soc Security Card (mine was stolen). When the Post Office gave me the option to stay on the line to speak to a rep to reschedule and for further questions, it immediately hung up on me. Repeatedly. This review is actually just for the Passport Office located in this building. Somehow, my adorable puppy chewed up my passport and I was frantically searching on how to expedite it the fastest/get a photo done before leaving the country. I booked an appt online, showed up and followed the arrows back to the office. I expected this to take 15-30 min, and altogether it maybe took 5! With a photo! Everyone was super helpful and assured me they would get my passport application out ASAP. I love that this is so close to both Tempe and Scottsdale, and will definitely return. read more

Despite the fact I never got my overnight priority mail; I assume this can still be considered a delivery company due to all the lies they've been sending me. According to tracking it said they delivered my mail, I checked.. wasn't there. Unfortunately, since it was Labor Day weekend I had to wait til today (Tuesday) to find out where it is. The first time I visited today they said that it's in packaging and that's why I didn't see it in my mailbox. My roommate checked.. wasn't there. I had to leave work, go back to the post office, and ask where my mail is. After 30 min of making me wait, a different lady shows up and claims that they checked (guess they have a postman posted up by my mailbox 24/7) so I left and checked AGAIN.. wasn't there. I understand if you make a mistake but DO NOT LIE. Especially when it's mail that is time sensitive and needed. I had to mail a package to Canada which meant going to the main PO, something I try to avoid at all costs. The trip I dreaded turned into one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had! Jim, the employee who waited on me, was kind and patient when I had trouble reading the form and filled it in for me. My glasses were in another purse. The address given to me by my family was not complete and he was able to look it up for me. There are circles where my opinion doesn't count and the USPS is clearly one of those circles. I imagine that someone like the postmaster of a USPS gets to make maybe 2 or 3 decisions a year and cannot fathom the qualities that makes one better than another except when facing one of these infrequent times to actually have to make a decision, they not only blow it but blow it with maximum impact on the maximum number of people. To the Scottsdale postmaster, I salute you with a job well done. Seemed innocent enough...Aging postal facility in area where the ever growing Scottsdale Memorial Hospital wants to expand makes deal to sell property and relocate the post office. Finds newly vacated Scottsdale Road location of failed furniture store which offers more space - I'm good. Now for the fun part. I've had a PO Box there since 1982. EVERYONE knows my PO Box Address. Here's where they blew it...most of the PO Boxes in the 'old' Post Office were combination mailboxes...no key needed. They don't do that anymore and want to play keymaster. So the big decision is that everyone who had a combination lock mailbox would get a new PO Box number - you can't keep the old number. My mail runs 40% mine, 40% whoever had the PO Box # before they arbitrarily assigned it to me and 20% who knows...no relation to either PO Box number, new or old but close enough for government work I guess. Now I recognize that postal employees do the best they can with what they're dealt and I actually have a friend whose husband works at that post office and agreed that this has been an unmitigated disaster. I think I should nominate this for a 'Great American Heroes' radio commercial because when they blow it...they do it with style. read more
