This has the check in kiosk and is sort of a USPS super store location also having PO Boxes as well as shipping supplies. You tell me: I just went there to mail my taxes. The lady told me that the letter was too thick and that it would have to go priority instead of certified (more expensive). Also I had to write my return address in the front. So I start writing my address. I am almost done. She said she is going to lunch, put her jacket on and left as if I suddenly ceased to exist. I moved on to the next clerk who then tells me that my letter can go certified no problem. Some people here are loud or obnoxious or both, and incompetent as well. read more

Does any post office have high reviews? I mean when people go crazy they do call it going postal so that has to have something to do with how you feel going to the post office. The staff does not seemed pleased to be at work or to have to deal with the public (I get that sometimes because people can be dumb as hell!!!). However, the staff here is hit or miss and mostly a miss. I was I today as I needed a few metered postage items to go out and while I was there the way the two female staff members talked to people made me sick. I was at this facility today (7/7/2022) and I was shocked by the lackadaisical service. I was trying to return a package with a prepaid label and was not able to stick the label onto the package. The lady at the counter didn't try to help me with the tape and I couldn't find any to purchase at the section where they usually have them (later on I found it next to the counter). I then had to go to another store to purchase the tape and came back to the post office. By this time there was a longer line and only one person serving the customers. She then rang the bell requesting the original person to come and help and it took several minutes before that person came to help with the long lines. It appears that the first person doesn't want to work or help anyone. Why don't you just quit your job then? read more

Stopped by here sometime in the late 3pm hour on a weekday to ask if I could get a return label, had all the address info printed out and gave it to them and explained the situation I was in. One of the employees who works here (she was the only one at the counter at the time), a female by the name of "Meng", appeared confused at my request and then straight up said, "We don't do that here.". Strange, since from what I learned, that is possible to get done at a post office. There was no doubt that she didn't want to help me out, was clearly annoyed at my uncommon request, not even offered a "Sorry." and just wanted me out of her way. What pissed me off big time was the reason she couldn't provide a return label when she said, "Don't know if the return label we provide you is going to be used to mail a bomb.". WTF, lady. . . I was done with her after she said that, I ain't wasting any more of my time with this place. Too bad I couldn't give this post office a NO star. They never knock on the door to let you know they need your signature. They just leave a note on the door. I work ay home, so I'm pretty much available to sign for the package. They always do this! They never redeliver the package even when you schedule a redelivery. Their service is beyond horrendous. I came in today (June 21, 2023) to mail out my passport renewal documents and went to someone with the name tag Tom (an Asian man, in case that wasn't his actual name tag) to be helped. I asked if there was a longer stapler in the store I could use before mailing the documents because the stapler at home isn't long enough to reach the inside edges of my passport photo to be properly stapled to my renewal form (I had already stapled the outer edge of the photo with 2 staples). Tom took my form paper from me while I was asking if I could use the stapler and started stapling the photo without my consent, despite me repeatedly telling him I would prefer to do it myself. He continued to ignore me as he stapled the photo too far inside the edge. And even after I told him the form requirements said the staples needed to be "as close to the edge of the photo as possible" and asked AGAIN to do it myself for the 2nd and last staple, Tom CONTINUED TO STAPLE in the same incorrect manner while saying that it was fine. I told him afterwards he should have let me do it myself and all I got was a nonchalant "oh sorry". This is the worst case of blatant not listening and ignoring that I've experienced to my face from any worker in any establishment. I should have just taken my form back and printed a new copy but I was in a panic and now I'm just hoping my photo/renewal doesn't get rejected since I already had to get my renewal expedited for international travel. I might just be being paranoid about the renewal application not being accepted, but you can't argue with the dismally poor service that I received from Tom. This is not how someone's important documents should be treated, and not how any person should be treated. read more

No pics for this review but it's purely for the Saturday female employee (I don't know her name, darn!) because she was great! We were heading out of town and had put our mail on hold, however we needed something that was supposed to be delivered the day we started our hold. I callled USPS customer service and requested a call back (1.5 hrs later) and was told where my mail was being held and the worker at the facility knew I needed the days mails only and still needed to keep the hold for the remainder of my leave. She handled everything on the back end and simply asked if I wanted to keep everything as is. She was smart, competent, and efficient. Please hire more of her!!!! read more

I just experience a customer who was not so nice to the representative and I don't appreciate when people talk back or are rude to other people. I hate going to the post office because of the long lines and DMV like customer service. However, today I had to go (I had already procrastinated till the last possible minute). I was pleasantly surprised by the level of customer service I received by Angela. She was very knowledgeable, polite, friendly and really strived to make her customer's happy. Is this some sick joke? Sadly, no. So here's my situation: I mailed a package and paid extra to have it overnighted from the post office at Michael's Hallmark Shop down the road. Long story short, the package got lost and has yet to be found. Bill, over there, was really nice and apologetic and told me that if I went to any other post office that I could get a refund. (Michael's Hallmark Shop can't give refunds, as they're a contract station). I hardly ever go to this post office for anything, but I figured I'd go here since they were close enough. I walk in, show them my receipt, and before I could even finish a full sentence, both ladies behind the counter looked at each other and chuckled. Wtf? Anyway, I explained what had happened and politely inquired about my refund. The lady I dealt with first told me that she'd have to verify that my package never arrived before offering a refund. After she came back and told me that it indeed never arrived, she then told me that, to get a refund, I'd have to file a claim online. That's funny, because Bill down the street (who, BTW, worked for the USPS for over 30 years) told me that I was entitled to a refund in-person at any post office. There were a few customers behind me, and I could tell that these chuckleheads weren't going to help me, so I promptly left. I went back to Bill and told him what happened. He was upset, not at me, and was once-again apologetic. He told me that post offices like this one will sometimes give an excuse like they did to me out of sheer laziness, and he reiterated that I should absolutely be able to get a refund at ANY post office as long as I have a copy of my receipt and they verify that my package didn't arrive. To make matters worse, the parking here sucks. I ended up going to another post office and got my money back with no problems whatsoever. I will never come here again. 1 star read more

On Sunday 12/11/2022 I came here at 10:15am and the doors to the lobby were chained shut. I normally come around this time because the new weekday hours now close at 6pm, when I get off work. At least they have the automated machine where you can ship your package by yourself and skip the line/ Driving and parking sucks too. I watched someone drive into the dropoff the wrong way, a lady who couldnt turn right correctly into the right way and almost hit me, then clusterfuck it up with the person who went through the wrong way. I like this post office because of the 24 automated postal machine. I can buy stamps, I can weight my package, and I can send my package all in one visit. There are plenty of Priority mail boxes and envelopes to use too. My favorite perk is the machine will let you select an image for your stamps. I got to pick between balloons, flowers, a holiday theme, and a few others. I chose the balloons since they looked really cute. The stamps were printed out in black and white but were still very stylish. The parking lot is long and narrow but has lots of space. There is also a drive thru mail drop off so you don't have to get out of your car. I like this location and will be using it on a regular basis. GO USPS! read more

Just like a few other recent reviews, why can't I give this zero stars. In early December 2023 I mailed a larger envelope to my parents in Southern California. I had typed up the address and taped it to the envelope. Their employee Tom then apparently typed up the address again and stuck it over mine. Only problem is he got the zip code wrong, did not put on the city name, did not show this to me to check. Long story short, it did not arrive to my parents in the standard 2-3 days. Luckily I had sent it priority mail so I could track it so I saw they were trying to deliver it in the wrong city. I went back to the post office, waited about 45 minutes in line. I first got a female employee whose response to most people was "I'm not trained for this", so she sent me to Tom, where there was already another line waiting for him, add 15 minutes to the wait time. I showed him the receipt, explained the situation, he blamed his co-worker, I said no, you did this, now can you fix it, it was time critical stuff. He said that's not his job (i.e. to fix his own mistakes), gave me a phone number to call. Tried calling but hung up after 30 minutes on hold (I do have a job). Package came back almost a month later. Another incident is a manilla envelope I put in the mailbox there, again time critical stuff. Two weeks after I mailed it it came back returned, with a stamp of something that was wrong but it was completely smudged. The address was correct, I had enough stamps. I've had many more such incidents that now I'm mailing all packages by UPS or FedEx and all letters are going in the mailbox at the main office. read more

When I wanted to return a watch that was purchased from UK website, UPS and Fedex were charging me around $140. Cost of the watch was around $300. At first USPS employee tried to send the package like a priority mail but as it turned out to be expensive like UPS and Fedex. The employees really spent lot of time figuring out options to send in order to reduce the cost. Then the employees asked the value of the product and suggested to send it through International Registered Mail which costed me around $40 though It took more than 2 weeks to deliver the package. Two weeks ago I sent an urgent letter using international priority express which came to $60 the same as UPS and DHL. Posted delivery time is 3 business days. The letter was dropped off on Thursday morning but did not leave SFO till the following Monday night and took 8 days on total to deliver. When I asked for a refund the postal worker just said sorry delivery is not guaranteed. Bottom line: never use their international express service total waste of money!! read more

The Encinal Fremont post office is not able to locate my mail, after a vacation hold for which I had selected the customer pick up option. After a few calls, there's been no follow up and my mail is still missing. They seem to have no sense of accountability or legal liability. Also, since our kind old carrier retired, I've had mail misplaced (eg: received neighbors' mail) or missing altogether (letters from home with no financial value but of value to me). Privacy seems to be at risk at this office. UPDATE: my mail is still missing. No follow-up from the carrier nor Encinal PO manager. Horrible service and concerning that it is so unreliable since the old carrier no longer delivers our mail. read more

It's the digital age, people. There is a better way than waiting for important stuff to come to you for days. Buying stamps, the right sized box, waiting in line for 30 minutes, only to go back in line because you missed filling out the customs form. I received a damaged piece of mail that was missing am important part. I called the USPS main help line, and my problem didn't fit any of the help categories. So, I tried to call my local post office to talk to a person. No one answered the phone--it rang on and on with NO voice mail or other options. So I called the Post Office at Michael's Hallmark. Doctors recommend anybody with high blood pressure do not stop here. The most unfriendly, inefficient workers, no attempt to speed up when the lines grow out into the lobby which they frequently do. And that is with 3 people working! Oh wait, it's only two now because it's 9:30, they have been open for 60 minutes and somebody needs to take their govt mandated break. Never mind that I am only here because our postman is too lazy to climb the stairs and knock on our door when we have a package to sign for. Typically long lines and slow service. My advice for sending out packages is to print postage online as much as possible and just use this office as a drop-off station. As for picking up packages, I avoid weekdays and only pick up packages on Saturday which works fine as there is usually no line at the pick up window. read more

I was waiting outside for the doors to be unlocked at 8:30 a.m. at the left door. So we're 7 other people. A short, fat asian worker unlocks the door and says "next time start your line at the other door because it's the correct entrance".....ok chunky . First of all it's not MY line, everyone else CHOSE to stand there as well. Secondly I took a picture of both doors and neither say entrance or exit.......pretty sure I can go through any door I please. And finally, honey you need to calm down.....you deliver paper and cardboard boxes for a living and the USPS is absolutely desperate to hire people right now.....probably because nobody wants to be miserable like you. There were 3 ladies at the counter, 4 people ahead of me, and somehow it took about 20 minutes for me to be helped... This place just screams out old and falling apart. The wooden boarding everywhere makes you feel like you're in a postal office from a western. The ladies that work here also seem to be from the 1800s themselves. They process everything with snail like blazing speeds and I had time to finish a whole game of Monopoly on my phone before it was my turn to process my package. I chose this place because my work was nearby, had I known how amazingly slow the service was going to be, I would've been better off driving to the nearest city to use their post office. The fact that they are open until 5:30 pm was so helpful since other ones in the area close at 5. This was my saving grace when I had an international package I had to send out after work before catching a flight later that evening. This is my least favorite Post office, but I have to say that they improved a lot since last year! For many years stuff at this location were just rude and it was a very unpleasant experience to do ANYTHING there. Thankfully, stuff has changed, but this place is still far from delivering a good service. The interior is dull, gray, and unhappy in general. Lines are long, service people are mostly annoying (taking whole thing way too seriously, no smiles, no laughter). This place is garbage. Couldn't find my package even though I said that the seller put on "ENCINAL." They tell give me a lecture saying that i'm not the postmaster, so I had no right to put that. More like 2 1/2 stars. A bit better than the 141 South Taaffe Street location in that the clerks didn't look as miserable. And they have never run out of money orders while I was there to buy one, unlike Taaffe. But the clerks can be pushy. They always try to pressure me into buying extra services like mail tracking, delivery confirmation, insurance, etc. They also try to get me to buy one hundred stamps at once. And they get cranky when I decline. The lines are long and often out the door. The parking lot is very small. I usually go the the post office inside the Hallmark store (on Fremont and Mary in Sunnyvale), or the post office inside Nob Hill Foods (on Grant and El Camino Real in Mountain View), where the customer service is much better, and the lines are very short. read more

Oh just an update. They say to call to see if your package is there so it can be redelivered. I try calling from open to close, no one answers. I walk there (miles, and I don't have a car)....the girl goes "sorry, we don't have time to answer phone". THANKS. Now I understand why the phone never stops ringing when I am there in person. Probably the worst post office I've ever been to. Packages somehow have to be picked up here, even though theres another post office next to my house. Staff is extremely rude and make up policies so they don't have to do work. Staff refused to give me my package because the mailmain wrote the sender's name in the recipient line on the pink slip, despite the fact that I had handed them my ID, and the address was the same. Had to argue for 5 minutes before they begrudgingly handed it over. I was told that "We don't forward mail, it's policy", despite having forwarded mail dozens of times at other post offices as tenants move out. Don't come here to ship stuff, you'll get better service driving a few miles down to any other post office read more
