Working in difficult conditions I find the people at the front desk to be super helpful and courteous.

I was told by another PO that this branch accepted Walk-In passport applications. When I arrived, Debra was just opening. She seemed disappointed that another office said they would help, but asked me to wait while she helped the other lady in line. Note to her supervisor: Debra was really helpful, and had a very nice attitude. We started working on my paperwork (I had already been on the State Department website), and she asked me for my photos. I had also been told they could do them on site--but she stated her camera had been down for weeks. [Maybe the Postmaster could please help her out with that?] She apologized, handed me back my paperwork, and said to come back as soon as I could. I went to the CVS she suggested, but they were not taking pictures. I went to Walgreen's on Montrose, and they were more than happy to help. Unfortunately, by the time I returned, the line was so long that I chose not to wait. I have an appointment for tomorrow morning, and hope Debra is working again! read more

About 98.2% of the employees working at this location are immediately insulted and inconvenienced if you inquire about a cost, service, parcel, or procedure. As a customer, go forth with the understanding that you are part of the Axis of Evil. Just recently, they lost a package but refused to update the delivery status. It's been 30 days and the status is still showing "Out For Delivery." I've talked to 3 different yet equally rude employees and emailed the phantom customer service manager. Not a single fuck about my missing parcel is given. Not yesterday, not today, not tomorrow. Because FY customer! To make THEIR job much, much easier, because it really is about aiding and abetting their work-life balance, I've resorted to having all packages mailed to a friend's home across town, 40 minutes from my house. They can just continue bringing supermarket mailers and mail for the couple who hasn't lived here for nearly 10 years. read more

This place deserves NO STARS. Too bad that isn't an option. THANK GOD THIS PLACE IS SHUTTING DOWN. The employees, even the manager, doesn't care about you. They are all so rude as well. If you hate your life that much, don't work for the post office or any government office. Lucky for them that they work for the government and as long as they show up to work they'll get paid either way. Simply put, they don't give a shit about you. Time after time, they claim that they deliver my packages. Even when I'm at home, they still are able to slip an "oops we missed you" form in my mailbox. It got to the point where I just started to drive over there because I knew I was getting a slip. Today what the biggest shit show I had ever seen at this post office. I ring the door bell to get my package and am told to get in line because nobody is getting packages. I wait in line for 20 minutes because there is only one person at the counter (Surprise, surprise). As soon as I get to the front, i am told to get out of line to get my package at the door. WTF?!? Why the hell did I wait in line for 20 minutes then?! Freaking idiots. Then when I get to the door, I wait another five minutes and of course that employee is rude. She claims that my package is out being delivered and when I tell her about the string of notes I get in my mailbox, she states that packages are suppose to be delivered. NO SHIT SHERLOCK. Too bad these people don't care and THANK GOD it's closing. Better to build a restaurant or business there where they care about their customers. read more

This is the worst post office I have ever encountered. When I have gone inside to mail packages, I have watched (several times) the female postmaster and two female postal workers ignore a long line of customers while they stand together and have a lengthy discussion. Another time, I put my mail on vacation hold. On the day I was to receive it, I didn't get anything. After multiple days passing and multiple calls to the post office, I went down there. I waited in line only to be told I had to ring the bell and wait at the door. After another long wait, I finally got my mail. The explanation? They hadn't noticed my vacation hold had expired. By this time, it had been expired for a week. The final frustration was when I moved. I completed a mail forward request. SIX WEEKS later, I had still not received any forwarded mail. I asked my realtor to check my mailbox before my house closed. It was stuffed full. They simply ignored the forward mail request. I missed several pieces of important information because they failed to forward it. The behavior of the workers at this post office is reprehensible. I, personally, believe it to be the fault of the postmaster there. In my new location, the post office is fantastic and the workers are professional and helpful. read more

If I could give this place half a star, I would. Overall the service is deplorable. Frequently we have packages that are delivered to the wrong address, and end up having to walk around the block looking for it. This happened again with one package today. My wife was also expecting another package delivered today. When I found the first one delivered to the wrong address, I called this station at 1641hrs to verify the other package's location. After explaining the situation with the first wrongly-delivered package and my concerns about the second package to the operator, he said he'd get in touch with the postal worker assigned to our area and call me back. I call back at 1658hrs (2 minutes before closing) and the driver tells me he's trying to reach the worker and waiting for all of his postal workers to get back in before he calls me back. It's now almost two hours later, and he has not called me back. This is not the first time a situation like this has happened. The delivery men are also very lazy, putting in notification cards of attempted delivery into the mailbox instead of actually knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell. I cannot count the number of time I've had to go pick up a package from this substation because the delivery driver didn't even attempt to find out if I was home. They've done this at times where I've been inside the house, without even anything loud on to prevent me from hearing them. Service at this substation also leaves a lot to be desired. During times I pick up the packages, they are slow in answering the service door. Most of the employees that answer that door also look at you as an annoyance. read more

Playing the role of Captain Obvious, the University Post Office, located off of Richmond and Yupon is perhaps the worst post office that I have ever had to deal with in all my time using USPS. It is no small wonder that they are shuttering it. Their phone must be off of the hook, and the times that they have lost/delivered my packages to the wrong address, they have been entirely useless. Quite a horrid experience when I had to go there to send my daughters passport application. I had forgotten to make copies of our drivers license(s), yes my mistake, I admit it. But when I asked her if she would mind making a copy you would have thought I was gravely insulting her. She made us give up our appointed time while she 'asked her supervisor' but in the meantime we had to stand at the back of the line even though the answer may be 'no'. It just went from bad to worse, with her saying things like "I suggest you listen to me or else I will just send you away now". WTH? Why are these employees not held accountable for their rudeness? The degree of meanness is maddening and I left there after our appointment (yes, eventually we were allowed to stay) feeling beaten up. And still I ask: WHY? read more

Well I changed my address within the same zip code 2 weeks ago and have not received ANY mail at either my old or new address. A very nice postal worker at this station explained In detail that it takes 10-15 working days and the steps for why it takes that long. She reassured me that I would get the mail and that it had not been returned to sender. read more

The worse post office I have ever came across.. I dropped of a 2000$ package to this post office to be shipped off for repairs.. With being deaf I spoke with the station manager Twana Manager and she did not want to talk to me because I was using relay to communicate with her.. I told her its not like I have a choice, I am deaf and I am trying to track down a package that you guys lost. She tells me to call back in about a month and if it doesnt appear. I mean looking online if you ur package doesnt arrive with in a few days of the expected date you can report it 4 days after... I would give a negative star if possible. I called and made an appt for our daughter to get her passport. It should have been at 2.15 on 1/10/13. We arrived on time and waited and waited until we got through the line and told them we were there for our appt. The girl looked at me and walked away, saying nothing. We waited some more until a man came to the window and said "no one was here today for your appt and you need to make another one." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The register for appts had my name and phone number and NO ONE called me to let me know! So we wasted our time, and also pulled our daughter out early from school, which is not acceptable to me. The next day we showed up at 9am for our appt again. We waited again, when someone finally came to the window and said "oh are you here for a passport?" and yes we were. She said, "oh at 9.15?". Ummm no, 9am. She said ok do you have your paperwork and ID's? Of course we did. Handed them over and she said, "oh, we need copies of your ID's." Ummm you didn't say that to me on the phone. And then proceeded to tell us that they didn't have a copy machine for us to use? Her father had to leave and find a copier and came back 20 minutes later. We waited and waited and waited again... when one of the idiots behind the counter said, "oh, can I help you?". I said are you kidding me? We've been here since 9am, as well as yesterday, for a passport. She said, "oh, ok, well do you have your paperwork?". Of course we said and then she asked for the passport photos... ummm... you said on the phone that you did that here and we could do it during the appt... and then she said, "oh, our camera is broken." AGAIN, are you kidding me!!!! My phone number with the appt is in your hand! And you're just telling this to us now!!! After being there twice and having our daughter miss more school!!! No apologies from them - just stupid looks on their faces! Well we left. I told them they were incompetent and that we wouldn't be back! Hopefully the post office on Timmons will be able to help us and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they know how to run a business. I've never seen such irresponsibility from such incompetent people... it really is a shame that they don't care enough about themselves to do a job that they should be proud of. DEBRA THE PASSPORT LADY WAS THE RUDEST, MOST INCONSIDERATE/UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN A PLACE OF BUSINESS. I wish I could give zero stars for the experience I had at the University Station post office on Richmond. I've been trying to get a passport for weeks, and finally got my appointment set up. I arrived about 20 minutes early because I accidentally wrote down 3:30 instead of 3:45. So I got there and let the girl know I had an appointment, and she said the lady would be back at 3:45 because she knew that's when the appointment was. So I sat and waited and waited until finally at 3:55 I asked her if the lady was coming back. She went to the back, and came back out. At 4:00, the passport lady Debra emerged. She asked if I had an appointment, and I said yes. She then said ok, I'll be with you. She then proceeded to call "next in line" and help someone from the general line ahead of me! When I told her I had an appointment at 3:45 and it was already 15 minutes late, she brushed me off, saying an appointment just means "you will be seen". When I objected further, she began yelling at me and continued to help the man in the line. Another woman in line tried to stick up for me saying she saw me waiting for a long time for her. She told that woman to "mind her own". SO, once she finally got to me, she just smirked then laughed to herself, and said "ha, you didn't even need to come see me, this is a mail-in process." At that time, I took back my forms and left. She was muttering something insulting under her breath as I walked away. WHAT A HORRID EXPERIENCE. So glad I took off work early. I hate when people waste my time. Especially when someone is so rude and inconsiderate about it. read more

Employees at this facility are consistently unwelcoming, unsmiling, and apathetic towards their customers and community.

If I could give a negative star rating I would. I have been in multiple times trying to receive my mail, because my mail just STOPPED coming for 3 weeks. I have not moved, nothing had changed, and the week before Christmas I stopped getting mail. I went in, gave my phone number and was told my mail carrier has been out because she's having foot surgery. So apparently the new mail carrier just wasn't bringing us our mail?? That's what happened I guess, and all I was told was 'I don't know.' Over and over again. I got no phone call so I went in again and asked to speak to the post master. It was 4:30 and she told me she didn't know and she's just trying to get off work right now. She was SO RUDE and completely unhelpful. So I still have 3 weeks of mail missing and no answers. The day after my first visit there I got mail in my mailbox. Isn't that convenient. And then it stopped. It's now been a month since this all happened and I have had mail delivered 3 days. 3 days out of a month. Since I am being given 0 answers or help I am considering hiring a lawyer. I know everyone has a bad day, but even on my worst days I am not as rude and unprofessional as these employees. Due to my job I am at the post office up to 3 times a week buying postage and shipping envelops to customers, EVERY TIME I have come into this location Nelinda (I think is how you spell it) has been unpleasant and rude to me as well as others customers in front of me. I do not recommend this location and after a month of living here, I would rather drive out of my way to another location than continue going to this one. read more

In the last 5 days this post office has lost 2 of my packages. Tracking for both say they have been delivered. Neither have actually been delivered (at least not to me) and neither are at the post office being held. Post office staff has been completely unhelpful and says there is nothing they can do to help me. read more

Horrible service..I order a lot on line and I'm always getting packages sent to my home and this is the location that delivers to my address. Always losing my packages. Putting them on wrong delivery trucks and routes. Getting mail weeks late. No wonder everyone if running to Fed-ex and UPS who wants to deal with this incompetence every week. When you call looking for your packages and wondering who in the world did they get delivered to they keep you on hold for ever...So wish I could change to another location for delivery options but I'm not looking to sell my house and move because of there morons. Guess it's time to only pick FED-ED & UPS as my delivery option from now on...I'll have a to pay a little more but it'll be worth it read more

AWFUL service. I think the employee took pride in prolonging our torture and making us wait longer. We arrived to the post office for a 2:30 PM appointment to obtain a US passport. In parallel there was an extra long line of people waiting to send certified letters or purchase stamps. I was specifically told when I made my appointment that passports would be a separate line from the general line in the post office. After I made the US post office employee aware of my appointment, she proceeded to ignore me for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. I was obtaining a passport for a 5 months old child, who per regulation had to be present at the appointment. Imagine my delight when instead of my appointed time not only did I have to wait for all the people in the general line but also for anyone else that arrived. Basically, I had to wait for the office to be empty and couldn't be serviced otherwise. What an awful, awful experience. Glad we don't have to renew the passport for a while. read more

This post office used to be really good when it opened, yet the manager is one of the rudest and uncaring people on the planet...though long time clerk Deborah is close behind; she should have retired years ago. When it opened this place was GREAT! Terre, Dennis, Sharron (and even Deborah...if you came in the morning before her day inevitably became horrible!) were model clerks and were so friendly and willing to help. NOT NOW...Kiera and another new clerk from the back are good, yet Deborah is as rude as ever...ALL THE TIME! I feel so bad that she seems to be unhappy every day and take it out on customers...why stay in a public service position if not going to actually choose to HELP people. Use the APC machine if there's a line or if Deborah is alone at the counter...or come back later! Or use Fed Ex Ground service...it's actually CHEAPER than the post office or UPS if mailing a package in the United States! read more
