My local post office. I'm so happy it is a nice one! I head to this post office at least once a week. The majority of my family has the misfortune of living on the Mainland. Pity them. I send goodies to them and to far away friends as often as I can. I'm also very good at missing deliveries, so end up here once a month or so to pick up a package. This Post Office is large and well organized. There is plenty of space for the inevitable long line down the center aisle with plenty left over for people checking their PO Boxes and doing other business. The nicest thing is the Automated Postal Center tucked away in an alcove. It allows me to skip the line almost every time I ship a package. It went out Express mail, and I was not able to separate the receipt from the other copies of the address label. Not a big deal, I simply wrote the label # on my printed receipt and went on my way. The service they provide is astonishing considering the amount paid per mailed item. Been to a lot of different post offices lately & this one had the best selection & presentation. There is even someone out in the "lobby" (seemed like the manager) greeting customers & making sure people were in the right lines so things flowed smoothly! During this time of the year (last day to get things out on time for Christmas arrival was yesterday?) this extra service really helped. I went to the post office and I have never had any problems until now. My family sent me a package from the Philippines and I missed to pick up the package by one day and they supposedly already sent it back to the sender. For whatever reason that people can't make it on time to pick up their package they should get a courtesy call and packages should be given another week before sending back to the sender. First of all, the reviews don't lie: this post office does not answer their phone. I've called and called and have been directed to a voice messing system. Second, we live in a town house. The mailboxes are all centrally located, and we have a key to access our mail box. There is a separate key to access the parcel box where larger packages are placed. There have been instances when a package says "delivered" but there's nothing in my mailbox nor a key to access a larger parcel box. Today, we were expecting packages, & a parcel key was in my mailbox BUT the key gave me access to another parcel with my neighbor's package in it. I delivered the package to their house. Now, someone else has a key to the parcel with our packages in it and we are hoping they do the same. But who knows?!? I've tried to call so they can alert our carrier to fix the situation, but no answer. No surprise there. Ugh, how hard is it to DO YOUR JOB?!??!!!!! Today was the first time I went to pick-up my boyfriend's mail at Waipahu which wasn't able to be delivered at my house due to an insufficient address. Before I went in I called them, and after a couple tries, Jordan was able to answer the phone. In the past, I would never get through, but today was my lucky day. Jordan was very helpful and was able to locate the two packages very quickly. He made sure I was able to pick it up since it was under my bf's name. As I arrived, there were A LOT of parking. To my understanding, the Waipahu Post Office is the main area on the Leeward side for sorting mail. There wasn't a long line and I was helped within minutes. The associates were very nice and smiley. The gentleman that helped me on the phone already put it on the side, so they knew they were expecting me. They were very nice and reminded me to make sure to check the address before ordering the product. I found out that my bf forgot to put the Apt #. The reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was never able to get through the phone calls in the past and it bothered me. Every so often I would get my neighbor's mail and vice versa, so I wanted to let them know but they would never answer. Today was my lucky day, but not sure how they would perform on another day. It's so rare to have a good home USPS post office anywhere in the US because most branches lack funding, resources, and good employee morale. So I wanted to write a Yelp Review about Waipahu USPS based on my positive experiences with our go-to mail Carrier, SHANA who manages Ko Olina residences, as well as the branch!! Shana of Waipahu USPS has been an absolutely amazing mail carrier! She is professional, friendly, responsive, and great at building relationships with the residents in her territory. Whenever I have a question or have postal issues that need to be resolved, Shana always quickly responds and solves the problem! The Waipahu branch may not be perfect - it has long lines and they may have limited resources like most USPS branches do. But the Waipahu USPS reps at the branch never fail to be professional, friendly, upbeat, and personable! As I mentioned before, I have had mostly negative Postal service experiences in the mainland so it was a pleasant surprise and greatly appreciated to be assigned to a home USPS branch and team that is nothing short of amazing. Thank you Waipahu USPS team and Shana for your hard work and amazing customer service. ________________ 1/30/17 Update: I was frantic one day when an Amazon package went missing at my front porch, even though the UPS tracking said it was delivered. I called Shana my postal lady and her team at the USPS Waipahu Branch, and her colleague came over to search for the missing package. I kid you not, the USPS man literally searched my neighborhood for the missing package!!! He found the missing package a few doors down, and hand delivered it to my home. I hate that my mail gets held at this post office. It's often very busy, I don't know why they don't open another post office in like Waipio or Waikele. Also even though it's busy there there are registers that are not manned. If I need to mail something, I often go to another post office. There are a lot of people that are shipping huge boxes internationally, and I guess that's a lengthy process for the workers. The parking seems ample, but often I'm waiting in line for a stall. Service here is okay, no one has ever been rude, but they don't look particularly thrilled either. Then again, I don't think I would be thrilled to be working in an environment that seems to be understaffed. I used to send purchased packages often and do walk-ins and the staffs behind the counter are super nice. and that is pretty much where the stars are from but the reason why it is now 5 because they do not handle complaints well. Our mail man is the chubby guy who does not like walking to the box, ringing door bells, and likes to leave our packages outside the house without informing us. Yeah hello, people might steal it?! Made so many walk ins and over the phone complaints about our mail man and I always have the same stinking response "sorry about that, we will talk to him." There's always music playing at this location which is different from most sites and it makes the wait less frustrating when there is a line. Staff has been pleasant and helpful even coming out from behind the counter to assist customers with heavy or multiple packages. Sometimes they don't have the Forever stamps I'm looking for but that's okay cos they have more than sufficient parking to make up for it. This is my home post office. Out of all the post offices in the area that I've been to,this one has always been the quickest in and out. I usually go on weekdays at lunch or Saturday's in the morning. One a particular thing I love about this one is that they sometimes have a separate line for picking up your packages so you're in and out! There was an issue with one of my packages and they went way above and beyond to help me find my delivery person. I really appreciate them for that one. read more

Long line but GREAT SERVICE! This was the first time visiting this post office, but the service I received inspired me to immediately write a review! It is tucked away up the street from Don Quijote in Waipahu. They have their own parking lot with ample parking and it is was easy to get back home because it is near the freeway entrance going east. Even though there was a long line, it was nicely air conditioned so the wait was comfortable. I went in with a rather tedious task (using stamps + calculating extra postage for many envelopes) and was nervous that the employee who was unfortunate enough to service me would be very upset. As I was waiting in line though, my nerves were eased as I saw the friendly interactions all the employees were having with the other customers. When it was my turn, the employee was glad to help me calculate the cost for each individual item so I did not have to waste a single penny! She even gave me tips on how to be more cost effective when I have to send similar items the next time. So grateful for such wonderful service! This is my new go to post office! read more

I dont know why there isnt a review of this place but its very basic. I go here whenever I have post office needs. I only go when it is NOT a weekend! Usually, theres only 2 or 3 people in line when I go and the staff there have been there a long time. I dont know exactly when this post office opened but I remember a lot of them being there from my first visit ever! Parking is usually not an issue. This location has 2 counters in case it gets really busy, supplies for packaging, drop boxes for already paid packages, and a weighing center which you can "do it yourself" and drop into a dropbox. They are LAZY, USELESS, NOT WELL COMMUNICATED, stupid people. 1. We live in an apartment, and we NEVER got our package. (always got the slip that says sorry we missed you.) But we would ALWAYS be home when they said they missed us. Our neighbors on the 3rd floor gets their package but not us when we are on the 5th floor. When we finally complained, they said "We dont deliever package that is higher than 5th floor" so that means my floor and all the floors above me have to do the extra work FOR THEM to be lazy and not do their job. 2. We were very excited for a package that we knew was gonna arrive this specific day, then we got the "sorry we missed you" slip again.. lazy workers.. no problem. Well go get it on our own like always. We get to the waipahu post office at 430. They told us that they dont have it. They said its probably still on the truck.. (i check my mail at 10 am cause it all comes at my apartment by 9-10am). And we know the drivers take lunch break so where is my package at 430?! Still on the truck, REALLY? But anyways the lady at the office told me that she will make sure the next day driver will deliever it for us. She kept saying it in a irritating tone like "yeah yeah dont worry we know how to work. Youll get it tomorrow." Next day comes and after i saw the truck outside my window. I run downstairs before they leave and the driver tells me that HE DOESNT HAVE IT. he calls the office for me but NO ONE ANSWERS. they have terrible customer service but they also have terrible communications with their workers. Horrible! I was expecting a package so I waited in the doorway and I watched the Postal man pull up to my mail box, put some letters inside, and drive away. I was confused as to why my package hadn't arrived, it was excepted for that day. When I went out to the mailbox I found that little orange notice stating "sorry we missed you"... blah blah blah. How could he miss me? I was standing at the front door. But to top it all off, it was my "second notice". Second notice??? I didn't receive the first one!!! The delivery man made NO attempt to deliver my package, none whatsoever!!! It was raining outside so because it was raining he didn't want to get out of his truck? WAIPAHU POST OFFICE. Worst Post Office by far. In the recent months, I've had to deal with lazy carriers not delivering items that I ordered from Amazon and EBay. Last month, I had a notification that my order was "attempted" to be delivered at 8:32a. How is that when I'm standing in front of our neighborhood mailbox @8:40a with all but one parcel box empty and open. How in the world did you make a delivery? So as I was driving back home from the mailbox, I see the USPS worker. I stop and ask her if she had my package. She said "no, I put the attempt to deliver notice in the box". She then told me that she didn't have my package, so I asked her HOW she made the attempt and not have my package?? She said, she did the attempt to deliver at the post office before she came out. Wth?? How do you do that without bringing my package to the mailbox. She said it was too big, mind you, I've had that same order delivered many times before with no issues. I think this girl is just lazy to carry it. I made a complaint and her post master (Patsy)backed her up by saying "it was the luck of the draw". What in the world does that even mean? LAZY? After dealing with that package, the following week I had another delivery and had more issues with that. The purchase was made on March 25th and just today April 11,2019 it magically arrived at the Waipahu post office after I called customer service and started an investigation. We take for granted our generally prompt and honest postal service. In other countries it can be a huge gamble to send valuables, but our USPS has checks and security systems that work pretty well. We forget that. Now, I am not a postal employee or a relative of one. Just a citizen quite proud of the work these people do. I'm stunned that so many people can rate its service so poorly, and it's so easy to do on-line and anonymously. The Waipahu post office is my home station. On my visit today, the place got mildly busy, so one employee looked out for customers who needed only to pick up parcels. A supervisor came out asking if anyone needed questions answered. And the employee who helped me, A long-time regular employee, treated me with courtesy and efficiency. That is everything I would hope for from a very efficient service that needs to change its over-all funding scheme - take a hint Congress - to keep it solvent and out of the headlines.
