Here's an update to my situation. This time I called 1-800-ASK-USPS extra early on a SATURDAY morning (note: because they are based on the East Coast) And yes, somebody on the mainland answered. I explained the situation, they did an investigation case number, and said that I would get contacted by my post office. I said I don't know how, since they don't use their phone. She said she was sorry to hear that and explained that she was sending them an email as we spoke. I got a call on Monday from a blocked number, and what do you know, it was the Waipahu Post office. Going to the post office is on the list of things I very much dislike doing, but the employees here are always awesome; helpful and friendly. Pam helped me out today and I tell you, she really brightened my day. I had some dumb questions about stamps and whatnot and we had a good laugh. People like that are far and few between. read more

These guys are really awful. Dropped off three packages on Dec 17. They held one (international) for two weeks before finally sending it to customs. The other two (returns to amazon, prepaid), they have lost. It is now Jan 4, and still no word on where my packages have gone. Tried calling, but they will never answer the phone. If this review were just for the staff, I'd give them 5 stars. They are always courteous and friendly to me whenever I have to deal with them. The reason for the low rating is two-fold. The first reason is for the crowded parking lot. This post office is busy and there are always lots of people waiting for the doors to open. I try to avoid going to this post office because it's out of my way and I swear, it takes me about 15 minutes to get here from my townhouse in Waikele. Getting to this post office is a hassle and I much rather go to the ones in Kapolei and Pearl City. Heck, even Kaneohe kicks butt more than the Waipahu one. The second reason for the low rating is because, according to the "Sorry We Missed You" slip I received in my mailbox, this is the post office that is holding my packages hostage. I wish they would open another branch in Waikele or Waipio since it would be much closer and more convenient. Actually, what I wish is that the postal staff delivering mail on my route would just do the job they were assigned to and actually attempt to see if I'm home. Knock. Go ahead and knock. Or ring the doorbell. I promise you, I will answer because I'M HOME! I order things online and track my packages like a fanatic. So I know which day it should be arriving. Thus, I try to arrange my days off from work to accept mail if it doesn't fit in the locked mailbox and/or sign for anything that needs to be signed. Mail-Dude or Mail-Lady, I was at home today waiting for this order. Don't just scan the label on the box while it's in your truck and act like I wasn't there. This has happened a number of times and I swear, laziness will win out over doing one's job duties every single freakin' time. It's frustrating to see this and it's why government employees get a bad rap. read more

horrible to get a hold of....never answers the phone. They need to be more diligent regarding their drop bin!!!.....how can it be so full and no one is aware of it. I have pictures to prove the obvious!....AND we wonder why things get lost or fradulent actvity happends!......HORRIBLE SERVICE!...So curious as to why absolutely NO one is available to answer the phone. USPS is a lousy system,mailed a priority package the 18th of july,it was processed into isc Los Angeles 6.57 pm 22 July, has been there since, post office says yhe same,no way to contact anybody,or talk to anyone,one person did say they had a backlog, in July,maybe December but July. This post office is obviously my local PO. It's kept I would say fairly clean and the staff there are pretty chill. I haven't had any problems doing business there. There is not a lot of parking but it's not that bad. If it's the Holiday season then yea...you may have to circular for a while....but traffic is inevitable during the holidays...so it's really not a biggie to me. read more

Wasn't expecting much based on the relatively low yelp ratings; however, we had the exact opposite experience! Bill was very knowledgable and helping us select stamps for our postcards that were destined both for domestic mainland and International Europe. He extended much aloha and humor too. read more

Second time i went there after work to use the "package drop box" at about 530-6, and their lobby is locked. Why would you have a drop box thats locked in the lobby? If its because its supposed to be used only during open hours, then why would you have a "click and ship" drop area at the counter? You dont need 2 that are 20ft apart. The tellers are ALWAYS very sweet. That's the only reason 2 stars are warranted. I just want to warn anyone who may have their mail held at this office about my experience: We moved to our current apartment mid-march. We put in an order to have our locks changed on our mailbox, were informed it may take up to 2 weeks, and so on our hold form gave permission to have our mail held at the post office until April 1. My keys were ready March 24. I walked down to the post office, picked them up, and verified, IN PERSON, that my mail would no longer be held. I immediately started getting mail. Well for almost 2 weeks in April, then, we didn't receive anything. I thought it was odd, but not completely out of the ordinary, as all but 2 of ours bills are paid online and we don't get all that much mail to begin with, and so I sort of brushed it off. Until my electricity got turned off. I was expecting my first electric bill around mid-month because that's when I was told by HECO to look for it (which btw HECO will be getting a review with 0 stars. They would owe me stars if that were an option). Well, they sent the bill and a final notice at the beginning of the month instead of when we expected. When I called and told them I had not received a bill, they did not believe me. Low and behold, the post office stopped, and then again started without my permission or knowledge, holding my mail. All HECO notices, and my paycheck, they had withheld for the last 2 weeks. In my holding form i signed and stated to only hold mail until April 1. So, even if my keys were done early and for some reason word was not sent to stop my hold early, on April 1, or 2,3,4,5,6, why would that hold not have been terminated, or at the very least I not be called and told? Today, April 16 is when I finally received my mail, and only because I walked in and picked it up. The excuses I was given made zero sense. How can you possibly try to explain away starting my mail flow and then just stopping it again? You can not without admitting responsibility, which they absolutely refused to do. I understand that people make mistakes, and if they had shown me any sort of respect or understanding, I would not have had such a negative reaction. There was no acknowledgement whatsoever on USPS's part. I was actually asked 'Why did you not inform your carrier' multiple times. As in, why did I, a working adult, not take a day off of work and sit at my mailbox that's no where near my apartment and wait for my mail lady who I don't know to come by so I can confirm with her what I already walked to the post office and confirmed? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? It was my responsibility to inform my carrier. That has to be a joke. And it gets better. I had to pay a $700 deposit to HECO that I had a waiver for because the post office refused to, after not even taking the responsibility for the mess up, even have the decency to write or print out a note saying my mail was held until April 16. 'We don't do that here'. So you refuse to admit that you messed up, and now you refuse to help me correct the mistake that you wont take credit for. WOW. So I called USPS headquarters or whatever and filed a case. Because if you don't have the empathy to at least give me a note after you cost me $700 and my power for an entire day, I don't have the empathy to care about your job. Life.... read more

I respect people in most service-related careers and am not the kind of person to give people crap, but I guess it becomes a major flaw of mine when I have great expectations... and the people on the service end do a mediocre job. I live in an apartment complex close to the area so it gives SOME USPS carriers an excuse to pretend like they give a damn to make an effort to deliver my package, but in reality, are too lazy to walk up one flight of stairs to my end of the hallway. Some lazy carrier did just that yesterday when I was tracking my package & left a pink slip in my mailbox even though I was home the whole day. NORMALLY, I have no issues with USPS carriers making deliveries to my apartment, as I had my niece's gift delivered to me on Thursday this week, but for some unfortunate reason, Friday's carrier had really poor service. I scheduled for a redelivery immediately thereafter for today when I was expecting a second package to be delivered. Fortunately my second package was small enough to fit into my mailbox, but the other package I scheduled for redelivery did not get delivered to me at the same time. Of course, Waipahu Post Office has a reputation for not answering their phone, but I decided to give it a shot and call them anyway to see if my scheduled redelivery package would arrive later on today. ZERO success after 6 unanswered phone calls. I think at one point someone picked up on the other end and hung up the phone on me. Poor customer service deserves Zero stars. read more

I used to go to the one in mililani but that one gets busy quick so then I tried the one in pearl city. But man, is that one a pain in the butt to get in and out of. So I finally said okay and went to the one in waipahu since it is closer to home. I always try to avoid waipahu since the traffic and drivers there are a bit scary. If you can brace yourself and get there safely the people at this branch are quite nice and they try to get their service quick. I think the lines here are a lot faster then the other ones I've been to. read more

been calling you guys for almost half an hour since opening. at first, the line was busy then after 15 mins, it was ringing. since then i've been calling and calling. hanging up once it's been 1 minute + for someone to pick up the phone. i just want yall to redirect my package from my old address to my new one, shouldn't take more than two minutes! brah if some of my packages get sent there y'all better pick that back up and send it to my new address free of charge. i don't have time to be going there. just pick up the phone please!!! i'll change this review IF and WHEN i get help. read more

Our postal delivery person absolutely sucks. I live in a townhouse complex, each building & unit have their own number. So how does my postal worker gives me other units mail & packages? Here is an example, I received someone else package & it's not like I can put it back in the mailbox, so I gave it to my postal worker at work & told her the situation. It didn't bother me as much until i purchased something online & it says it was "delivered", but I never received it. So this means my lazy/stupid postal worker put it in someone else mailbox. It's hard to complain when it says it was delivered. Don't know how to resolve this stupid situation. read more

As far as mail delivery with our regular deliverer she would get a zero. You would think the driver with the regular route would be doing her job better than the ones the fill in for her but NO!! On somedays we get a lot of mail and then no mail on other days. My neighbors and I think she's delivering our mail when she can and if not oh well for us. When the fill in mail drivers are working we can expect our mail at anywhere around 330pm everyday. When the regular drivers working it comes somewhere around 500-530pm or sometimes not at all. That's how we know she's working. She's rude and will write on our mail that she's unable to deliver mail because cars are blocking the mailboxes. She's a grouch and if she won't do her job she needs to quit!! read more

Thieves!!!! Liars!! And all around shady! I had a package sent to me 1-day priority mail. It was supposed to arrive on a Thursday. Delivery date was changed to Saturday in USPS tracking system. Saturday comes around and there is a hand written note in my mailbox saying" no packages today". Ok, so I wait till Monday.... Monday rolls around; Tracking info online now states that package was delivered on Saturday!! Except now there is ANOTHER note in the mailbox that read the same, " no packages today". So I go to the USPS store. Lady tells me that the system says it was delivered. When I produce the hand written notes, she doesn't know what to say. I tell her that I was home both days and nothing was delivered. Says that she'll have the mail carrier supervisor call me. Shocking, that hasn't happened! First off, there is no reason for a hand written note in the mail box. That alone implies something shady is happening. Then it happens again! And now there is no sign of the package! File a claim!? The woman at the store said that, " since it was labeled delivered the claim will be dismissed". I will find out what happened to my package. If I don't then I will run this up as high as possible and file a legal lawsuit claim. BTW, it is a FELONY to tamper other people's mail! It's no wonder that this place has such horrible reviews! I'm sure there are good, quality people working there. Hopefully someone will promote those people and clean house! Ridiculous! read more

Mailman delivered mail today but failed to pickup my outgoing mail even with the flag up. Mailperson frequently delivers my neighbors mails and also from a street above with the same address number but different street name. My neighbors also receives my mails. Lucky to have honest neighbors!!! Once my package tracking was "out for delivery" but mailman came and no package...called the Waipahu P.O., they then contacted the mailman and had the package delivered....it was in his delivery truck. read more

This place is a joke! The supervisor is no better and she can't help with anything. When you even try to call them they don't answer. They had someone break into a group of mailboxes and mine happen to be one of them. They sent a notice to the same PO Box and a new set of keys for the new lock. They never notified us any other method. We didn't know until we couldn't get into our box one morning. How do you break into a Post Office when you need the access code??? Not to mention why do we supply our email address, phone numbers, and physical address if when something like this happens you don't use other other ways to get in contact with us. Not to mention the issues they give you about opening up a post office box. I had mail also delivered to my home address for people who lived there before me. I put a note on the mail that they no longer live at the address and yet it came right back to mail with additional mail. Remind you there is a vacancy notice in the mail box since all my mail goes to my po box. I had to physically go to the post office when they opened which required me to be late for work since I work in town from 7 to 4. So I am not able to go any other time. My mom left to go back to the mainland. She had a change of address form to begin on the 30th of January. They closed her box and stopped her mail 5 days earlier. I received a certified letter notice for her a few days prior and tried to obtain it so that I can send it to her. For this purpose she had already been authorized on my post office box to receive mail there and also I had a letter authorizing me to pick up her mail. I was first denied and the second time was told it some how got rerouted to the Honolulu post office. When I went back today to see if it made its way back to the Waipahu post office the supervior claim they were trying to reroute it to her mainland address. First of all you can not reroute a certified letter. The sender has the address and if you can not notify the addressee or have it picked up by a representative it is supposed to be sent back to the sender. As of this morning she looked at her tracking and it was at this post office. But she couldn't find it. The notice doesn't give the name of the sender or the full article number so we cant track it or notify the party who sent it. We don't know if its time sensitive or what. Not to mention its past the 15 day hold so it should of already went back to the sender. Let me not forget to mention that a doctors office sent mail to my house one time and since it didn't have enough postage the carrier tried to come to my front door twice and collect cash to pay for the extra postage. If I am not mistaken this is illegal. They are supposed to send it back to the sender for additional postage. This office is doing illegal things and I will be contacting the Post Master General on Monday Morning. read more
