It's here! A post office does actually exist here. Even if it doesn't look like anything.

They may show up they may not. Store hours don't indicate if they'll be there. I would suggest the one at union station

This was the worst experience I've ever had. The staff ignored my requests, responded very poorly and did not help.

The staff moves slowly and is disorganized. Had to repeat myself several times. It was frustrating even though I waited patiently.

Went here for my passport appointment and was treated like an absolute nuisance from the start. Luckily, I looked around enough and found a way to enter the building to notify the employees of my appointment (although I would argue they should have a sign with some sort of instruction for this situation). Another man was with me doing the same thing. A woman, whose name I don't know, treated me with such aggression and hostility that I have never experienced before. I opted for a passport appointment rather than a drop off location so that I could double check that all of my materials looked good-- to no avail. She ordered me around, barely reviewed my documents, rolled her eyes and scolded me for anything I said or did, and got me out of there as quickly as possible. Most frustratingly, I just recieved notice from the state department that there was an error on one of my materials-- one she could've easily helped me out with if she just gave me an ounce of her attention and did her job. Incredibly disappointing. This is also my first Yelp review ever unfortunuately-- I've never had such a bad experience.

I had to return and fortunately the gentleman was a sheer delight to deal with. He was professional, knowledgeable, kind and just plain nice. I spoke before Rep Norton's postal round table several years ago. There were over 300 complaints & I was one of two constituents chosen to speak. After meeting the DC postmaster at the round table, I met the person in charge of customer service complaints and eventually the DC postmaster's boss. My issues weren't fully resolved but they were drastically reduced. There are too many issues to list but they include misdelivered mail, lost mail & issues with packages. There is a disconnect between the mail carriers and the staff at this location. This miscommunication causes problems when going to the post office. It is pesty going under normal circumstances but worse during Covid 19. If the employee can't find your package, they send you to a computer stand where you key in your tracking number. It means you lose your place in line. I don't see the need for that exercise since the employees should be able to locate packages. Tracking numbers become irrelevant when the information isn't accurate. It seems like the USPS hires a third party to answer the 800 number. I suspect it is an overseas call center. I have a kidney stone during covid. My doctor mailed a prescription so I could avoid a hospital visit. It took 14 days to receive it. The tracking info wasn't right. One mistake is a human just making a mistake. Reoccurring mistakes are bad business. Our mail carrier and the substitute carriers don't always leave notices, which complicates the situation. When I order from Amazon or Ebay, I use a family member's address since it is too stressful to use my own address. I am resourceful, determined and have stamina to be on hold for an hour, if necessary. I am disappointed that someone as resourceful as me can't get resolution to my postal issues. I don't feel hopeful and I don't have any faith in the post office. It shouldn't be this way.

I had come to retrieve a package, and the clerk was ready to efficiently and professionally provide the important and valuable parcel to me without any hassle. They carry a full line of boxes and packing supplies, which is handy. Conveniently located near the Eastern Market Metro and Trader Joe's. DC had issues with mail delivery reliability early in the pandemic, but this post office and the mail carriers are back on their game now. Remember that many people only write reviews when they have a negative experience.

So then I got a lecture on that (loudly and in front of the whole line) I brought a QR code with me and didn't know I needed a box (I actually don't think I did, I never have before) but she was determined loudly to make an example out of me. She even said I should go get a box to buy, and get back in the back of the line (yes at least another hour wait for something that would have taken me .5 seconds to do) she then commented on my scooter and how it should be outside as if it was somehow in someone's way? It was holding my bag of packages. I left literally shaking, I'm unsure if she's always like this but she should absolutely be fired if she's hateful like this. Her name is something like Ms Lashawn or idk La something

I'm not opposed to reviewing the post office per se, I've just never felt so compelled…read more After discovering that not all post office locations let you hand cancel (or that even if they do they can charge you per envelope) I called Mt. Rainier and the NICEST man told me he'd be happy to help out. I rented a car to go and headed across state lines. The same man was at the desk and was helping a young lady with the paperwork for her first passport. He was so patient and kind with her, even though there was a line of folks waiting. It's rare to see someone help someone else out not just because they have to but because they care--this gentleman definitely went above and beyond in making her comfortable with what she needed to do to get her paperwork in order and to set her at ease. Honestly, this also made waiting in line so much more bearable; she was worth his time. Once he got to me, he not only remembered my call from the day before but was excited to hand cancel my envelopes. This just made my day. I love getting snail mail, and I reaaaally love wax seals, so it was important to me that the invitations to my wedding have wax seals. Was anyone going to die if these were ruined? No. Was it important to me? Yes. This man treated my seals like they were important to him, too. And, even though we handed them over to him Saturday, folks in New York already had their invites the next Monday, which is crazy fast. Letters aren't dead, folks, and the caring folks at your local post office like this guy are what is keeping hand-written notes and heartfelt letters (and wax seals!) going.
